Giani turned onto his side and mirrored her position.
"My mother hates my hair too. She thinks it looks cheap. My piercing also." He said pointing to the spike through his eyebrow. "She says it makes me look gay." He shrugged. "You would think a woman in opera would be a bit less narrow minded." He smirked and looked into Israel's eyes. "Ahh the black and red stage. It's a good thing though. The colours suit you."

"I like your hair," she smiled and reached out to tug on it gently. It was really thick and soft and she had to resist running her fingers through it. "And I like your piercing. I've been wanting to get my navel pierced, but there's no way my mother would ever take me to get it done and I'm still a minor in the states." She pulled her hand back to rest her arm on her hip. "Thank you again," she smiled and blushed lightly at his compliment.

"What is your absolute favorite painting you've ever done?" she asked keeping her eyes on his.

As she tugged on his hair he laughed. Listening to her talk about her want of a piercing.
"You know dolce, there is such a thing as fake ID." He said grinning as she blushed at his compliments.
"Hmm, my favourite painting." He mused, now that was a tough question. There had been so many and each new one seemed better than the last. "Last year my mother asked me to do a portrait of her in costume for the Opera house. I suppose that is my favourite, it took me months but I liked working with all the layers and colours of the crazy theatrical costumes. Also in an arrogant way, because it's the only one of my works on display. People from all over the world get to see it." He looked down at the blanket, slightly shy of his arrogance and then back up at Israel. "Now, what is your favourite work, of your own?"

Israel smiled at his fake ID suggestion. She just had never been that kind of girl. At his next revelation, she could only blink in surprise. She had never met anyone her age that had a painting on display. Sitting up in front of him, she smiled lightly down at him, his question forgotten for the moment.

"That's not arrogance," she said shaking her head. "That's rightfully earned pride. May I ask where it is on display?"

"The opera house where my mother's company are based." He said glancing over to the river again. "They are not so famous but a lot of people go to see them."

He looked up at her and squinted into the sun.
"You didn't answer my question. What is your favourite painting or picture?"

"That's still amazing Giani," she smiled down at him and brushed some of her hair out of her face. "You never know who might see it." She thought about that for a moment, then looked back to the river, chuckling when pointedly reminded her of his question.

"All of them," she smiled, turning to look back down at him. "I don't really have one favorite one in particular. But I love my pencil portraits of people the best. My collection I call it. I'm like you. I think that the human form is the most beautiful thing, but I love drawing it in its element. I love drawing people doing the things they love," she said, plucking some grass from the ground and playing absently with it. A sly smirk crossed her lips and she looked back to his eyes.

"So I wonder... should I add the portrait I drew of you to my collection? Or should I ask for another sitting... maybe one where you're clothed?" she asked.

Giani smirked at her suggestion.
"So I'm not good enough for you naked?" He smirked pulling some grass out of the ground and throwing it at her. He looked into her eyes, smiling for a few moments before looking away to the river. "I would be honoured to pose for you again dolce." He said moving to lay on his front. "WOuld you like to sketch me whilst I work? As that is me doing what I love."

Israel laughed and threw her own piece of grass at him in defense. "All I was asking was if posing naked on my couch was your element and if I should leave it at that," she laughed holding her hands up in her own defense. "But I like your idea better," she grinned, dropping her hands to her lap and playing absently with the rings on her fingers.

"My element ... maybe if you were with me." He said giving her a dirty smirk and jumping to his feet.

He slipped his feet into his shoes and stood over her offering her his hand.
"How about now?" He asked. "I'm feeling rather inspired by our afternoon. I have a small piece I need to finish."

Israel laughed again and watched him slip his shoes back on. She reached up and slipped her hand into his. Using him for leverage, she pulled herself up to her feet.

"Now definitely works for me. I'm still not ready to return to that other piece yet," she said starting to walk back towards the campus. "What piece are you working on?"

"It's more of an abstract piece." He said draping his arm around her shoulder casually as they walked towards the dorms. "The other morning I woke up and my feelings were all colours and shapes. Not proper forms at all. I felt I had to paint them."

He shrugged and removed his arm as they entered the dorms. He unlocked the main door to his groundfloor room and showed her through to his bedroom which wasn't locked. His bedroom was tidy for a teenage boy's all except for one corner.

In this corner a few paint covered sheets lay spread on the ground, an easel in the middle, a table next to it also covered in paint holding all the paraphernalia that an artist might need to work.

"Welcome to my space." He said holding the door open for her. He followed her in and closed the door, not wanting to disturb his roommate with their chatter. "One moment. I'll change." He said dissapearing into the bathroom and emerging in worn, paint covered jeans and a faded t-shirt.

Israel walked into Giani's room and only nodded as he excused himself. She looked around and slowly made her way over to the canvas perched on the easle. She let her eyes roam over the colors and shapes he had created and smiled softly. When she heard the bathroom door open, she turned to face him. The casual clothes were a stark difference from his usual stylish and tailored ones, but she liked them. She blushed lightly when she realized she had been staring and glanced away.

"Do you mind if I borrow your sketchbook, since mine is upstairs?" she asked, glancing back up at him.

"Of course not." He said pulling a box out from one of the shelves. Searching through it he pulled out a black sketchbook and handed it to her. "You can help yourself to materials too." He took another box of the shelf and placed it down next to her. It was full of charcoals, pastles and different grade pencils.

Leaving her to set up he took up his seat behind the easel. Picking up His pallet he ran his eyes over the stormy painting and tried to get back into the mood of it.

Israel took the book from him and looked down into the box filled with various materials. Shifting a few things around, she found the grade of pencil she was looking for and turned to see Giani sitting comfortably behind the easel. Studying the scene for a moment she decided to go sit on his bed. Taking her perch on the end close to him, she balanced the book on her knee. After placing her intial form on the paper, she looked up to study him closer.

"May I ask... about the painting?" she asked softly, looking down and beginning to place more definite lines.

Giani stared at the picture. It was dark, depressing and moody. Not what he was in the mood for. Taking his pallet he mixed some lighter, less oppressive colours and started to brush them onto the canvas.

He looked up as she spoke.
"Of course. What would you like to know?" He asked mixing a bright yellow through his blacks.
