kinmoratree Here's something I throw together when I am busy, broke or both: Cornbread, crumbled Potatoes, microwaved, cubed and fried in canola oil Vegetarian beans from a can Cornbread on bottom, then fried potatoes (sometimes I add onions) then a scoop or two of beans on top. I call this "Poor White Trash", but some folks down here call it "Slop". I like my name better. sounds good... I suppose I need to post a Cornbread recipe now >.<

It would be great if you had a good one. Mine always come out a little dry (or maybe that's the nature of the beast).

B:G notice! Veg-0ut may become slow due to the fact that in my plot to run away with the circus I must indeed travel with them and internet isnt always assured tour starts at the end of August but Ill be at setups and rehearsals almost every week after August 5th then a short show in late January and then another show (though it may go into a longer tour) in late April-May (depending on how long I stay because this is the farthest from where I live) so YAY FOR SHACKING UP WITH DIRTY CLOWN MEN biggrin

When frying potatoes, I like to use day old baked potatoes OR microwave them first. I don't have the patience to wait for the darn things to cook through from the raw state.
I would start the onions first, then when they are nearly done, add the potatoes.

I usually use red potatoes for my usual home fries recipe I make roasted dill potatoes for dinnner the night before not only does it save time it adds more flavor than just the seasoning

I like the idea of a Veggie discussion thread.
Since you're talking about calcium, let me bounce this off you. I recently read that the calcium that is added to soymilk does not stay in the milk but settles to the bottom of the carton. Do you know if this is true for all brands or just some? Also, how much shaking is good enough to get it mixed back in?
I prefer Silk brand, myself, just because it's organic.

I like to take a vitamin with a little umph in it Im currently taking a pre natal vitamin (not as often as I should though hence the shrinking) and a chewable (I like the chocolate tums but again no more than the reccomended dosage Tums are still medicine even thoug it's not that powerful...) but back to soymilk!!!! shaking it should do but make sure to give it a good shake not that wimpy one handed garbage! 4laugh
