I Wasn't There

Growth Quest - Part Three

Korbin sat, nextled in Reiha's arms as they just sat outside. The nightmare from the night before was there too, hiding in both bird and girl's mind as nether spoke, letting it fester in their minds rather than speak the words. Sadly nether remember what truly happened. Korbin wasn't there to ask and Reiha couldn't remember after a night of coddling and bad sleep.

Korbin didn't care, not really, what happened in the dream. It didn't matter what happened, what mattered was the facts. Reiha had a nightmare, Reiha needed him, and Reiha didn't have him. He was sent here to protect her, to care for her, to give her heart what it needed.

And he failed at the first true test he got. He was a failure.

"You're not a failure Korbin." Reiha murrmed, one hand reaching up to stroke the bird softly, "How were you to know I was going to get a nightmare? Korbin you've been here for me when ever I asked. I can't expect you to tell the future too."

"I should always be there Reiha. You're my only reason to exsit." the bird said flatly, adding evidence to Reiha's beilf that he was given to her before she steped on the train as a guide. Beilef that he knew her past, but just wasn't willing to say, maybe even the one holding all her memories. It might explain why he was so bitter.

"Oh Korbin. Is it so bad that I got help from someone else? I'm going to turn to other people than you, but that doesn't mean that I don't love you. But I love Berial too." she told him, but it wasn't Berial she turned to last night, it was Adain.

"Do you love him? the one that keeps us down, and apart, do you love him?" Korbin asked bitterly. "Love him even though he treats us like kids?"

"He treats us like we are Korbin." Reiha muttered, and rose, still holding the bird tightly in her hand before she turned to head back to her room, she wanted to practice some more magic before Adain got home. "And I don't know how I feel about him."

Lover's First Meeting

Flamefire123
Adian glanced over once to Reiha, then went back to the road. The road to Erik's had become a comfortable one for the young man. Despite the various problems with Scruffy Adian really liked bringing Reiha here. Berial just made Reiha smile in a way that did the young man's heart feel...warm. Reiha was the first real addition to his family, in his heart. He never could accept anyone who dated his sister into his heart, too over protective, (yes he was aware and wasn't going to change) and his dad never actually dated, not seriously anyway.

Reiha though, she came in without warning and without apology. It almost seem absurbed to Adian how the girl who refused to like him he ended up falling for. At least she was a kid, she can't hurt him, can't betray him. Reiha had a tough past but Adian would find a way to work around it, or though it most likely.

For now though, Berial was a great distraction. He could make Reiha smile and laugh, and that's just what the girl needed, a normal childhood. Adian could try to give her that at least.

The car slowed as they reached the house, adian glanced over at Reiha, who of course siad nothing though out the ride, just stared out the window, muttering things to Korbin who made the apporitate noises back. At least Adian asumed they were apporitate.

"We're here."

"I know." Reiha sighed at the stupidity of Adian's statement and she climbed out of the car. She let Korbin fly up as he'd been itching to do. Berial's was the one place that Korbin felt pretty safe leaving Reiha alone for a moment while he streatched his wings. Reiha waved him off before she ran to the door. The one thing she hated about going to Berial's was the long drive, it was so boring and of course wanting to see Berial made it all the worse.

The little girl pushed the door bell just as Adian managed to step in behind her.

Jizzy Jazz
Scruffy answered the door looking slightly disgrunlted. He peered from behind his shades at Adian then, down at Reiha. "Berial's waiting for you, kid.." He said, moving aside to allow them inside.

Berial wasted no time in coming over to Reiha. "Reiha!" He excalimed, exited and rushing over to give the girl a tight hug.. From the living room there was a slight crash and Scruffy rolled his eyes.

"I'll be in my room.." He said, walking awa through the living room. Ignoring the pink hair woman who was sprawled on the floor onto of Erik.

Flamefire123
"I don't know, if I had a cousin like you." Adian sent her a grin, "Well, not first cousin." Adian grined and glanced over her and then looked to Erik to see him blushing. He laughed a little. "Come on Erik, you wont ever get a girl if you keep on blushing like that."

"Well no one is perfect." Reiha murrmed, then grined at him. "Wow, look at these cool stickers." she grined at him as she looked around his room, heading to window that she opened up, knowing Korbin would find it when he was done flying.

Jizzy Jazz
Berial smiled. " 'Chel got them for me.. She di'n know Mu' had me but she wen tout to get them for me. Said sh wouldn't be a proper aunt if she din't pamper me." He siad, reciting the last bit as if from memory.

Erik mumbled something about crazy cousins as he stood, still blushing. Chel's cheeks went a little pik but she beamed at his compliment. "And who are you? Erik never told me he had any handsome friends.." She said, pushing ehrslef up witht he couch and runnign her fingers to fix her rumpled spiky pink hair.. She was a sigh next to Erik. He looked like he always did, button down shirt, as always, but she looked like she'd jsut come abck from a party, skulls and tanks tops, all in bright pink to match her hair.

Flamefire123
"I think Adian has a sister." Reiha mentioned, "I don't really know her though, she hadn't come over. Adian also has a dad. He talks about them sometimes and calls them on the phone. He doesn't like who his sister dates. Which is stupid because he's always dating someone different." Reiha shrugged it off. "I like the stickers though."

Adian gave her his practiced grin, fast, quick and just good natured. It didn't make him look as charming as he would have wished, when he was younger he just looked goofy but he found it often put girls at ease, which was the point. Adian got over his lack of perfect looks a long time ago. "I'm Adian, my brat is his runt's best friend." Adian explained with a laugh. The term brat had love in it.

Jizzy Jazz
He smiled. "Maybe he'll take you to meet her soemday. I din' even know Erik had family 'sides me.. He doesn't have a Mu' anymore.." He said, his voice dropping slightly. He had overhead snippets of Scruffy and Erik talking..

"He's not a runt...." Erik mumbled but Chell jsut waved her hand to silence him.

"Pleasure. I'm Chel."

"Ixchel." Erik said, earning him a pumch on the arm from Chel. "OW!" He said, pouting. WHy was his cousin always so brash?

"Ixchel. But you can call me Chel. I decided to move to Gaia and I'm crashing here with Erik for a while.."

"Wait. WHat? You never said you were moving!" He was silenced again as Ixchel put her gfinger on his lips, not even turnign around to face him.

"I was goign to tell you soon.. She said, Erik jsut rolled his eyes. Ixchel wa.s. soemthign else.

Flamefire123
Adian laughed at Erik's mutterings and then he reached over to grab his hand, doing an over exagerated bow and kissed her hand quickly before sending her that grin again. He always went for the laughs, he couldn't pull off charming but he could pull off cute.

"Well Gaia can always use another beauty, especialy one as pretty as you." Adian grined before he stood up and glanced at Erik, "He's a cute runt, relax man. Better than a brat." He laughed again.

"I don't think Adian has a mom. He has pictures of his family everywhere in his house." Reiha murrmed, as she sat down on Berial's bed. "But only his dad and sister and sometimes him and his friends you know? I don't ever see a mom." Reiha didn't have a lot of esperiences with moms, no one she cared about had one.

Jizzy Jazz
Berial nodded. He never saw pictures of family aroudn the house at all and Scruffy got.. testy whenever the subject was brought up.. "Can Erik still be a Mu', even if he's a boy?" He asked. He'd only recently come to the distinction that Mom's were girls and Dad's were boys..

Chel seemed genuinely charmed though as he spoke, her smile growing wider. "Are you always so flattering, Adian? It's enough to make me blush as bad as Erik" She asked jokingly. She recognized his flirt and she was flirting back.

Erik rolled his eyes. It was sickening.. "I'm gonna get soem water.." He said.. Chel was lieka s ister and that was jsut.. grosss....

Flamefire123
Reiha shrugged, "I don't know." she admited, "I mean, I don't know much about Mu's. I don't see why a Mu can't be Erik. I mean he loves and cares for you and you love him back." Reiha mentioned, that's how she classified a Mu.

Adian grined, "Only to the pretty girls." he teased, he always liked it when he got girls as open to his girls as he was. Some girls got so prissy when you flirted with them, like they expected every guy to be different, only talking to them if they wanted marriage, kids, to worship thm and had a huge bank account. It got anoying.

Jizzy Jazz
He nodded, sitting there in the dark thinking for a moment before looking up. "But you take care of me too, and I love you back.. does that mean you're my Mu too?"

Ixchel smiled broadly. At first she ahd beena little worried. Erik ahd prefered this palce over Earth, so perhaps it was more reserved and prudish, liek him, but she had found it crazier than earth, by a long shot. "So Adian, Is Reiha also a.. passenger(she had remember what Erik called them) or is there someone I should worry about before flirting openly nd blatantly with you?"

Ixchel knew full-well Reiha was a passenger. But she'd rather not even mess with a guy witha fiance or something. She'd gone down that road before. It wasn't pretty.. She didn't seek commitment, she wanted fun, but it wans't like she was about to court danger either..

Flamefire123
Reiha paused to think about it, kicking her legs. "I think it's different with us, because we're the same age, you know? I mean if you had a sibling that wouldn't be a Mu. I think Mu's have to be older, able to give you a home and stuff. Like I couldn't give you a home 'cause I can't work yet, but Erik does work and he can."

Adian laughed, "Sometimes I wish. At least then I'd know where she came from." For a moment something flickered into Adian's eyes, something deeper than the causual flirting he prefered with women. Reiha's past was a mystery to him, and yes, he wished it wasn't. "And I'd have someone to blame for her additude." he shot back, forcing the dark mood away.

"Naw, I got Reiha off the train just like Erik did, different times of course. Meeting Erik was just by acident, a pretty lucky one though. Berial's been a real help in lighitng Reiha up, she was such a p***k before she met him. Plus, Erik gives me a little project." Adian glanced at the man, then leaned closer to Chel, "Trying to get him laid. Hard work, but I think I can do it, he just needs to relax a little, he's sorta cute in the bookish shy way, you know?"

Jizzy Jazz
Berial nodded lying down on the floor to stare up at his tiny stars.. "You're really smart.." He said, looking over at her and smiling. "I'm happy I met you, Rei.." He said softly.. He had been, thikig alot, since the night of his panic. The fear he hadfelt that night.. It had gripped him tight and.. he didn't want to lose anyone.. Perhaps that was what had got him so scared..

"Berial's a sweet kid.. Should have seen his face when I brought him some stickers. It's nice he has a friend though. Erik can be quite the hermit." She said in response, before glancing over at Erik at his second words.

She chuckled though. "Laid?" She said, her tone lwoering so Erik, whowas sying himself in the kitchen could not hear her. "That's quite a project.. He hasn't even had a girlfriend yet." She looked over at him again. "Though he could be adorable if he wanted to.."

Flamefire123
Reiha grined over at Berial, and then moved down to lay next to him, grabing his hand as she stared at the fake stars. "I'm happy I met you too Berial. You're my best friend. I wont ever leave you." she swore quietly, her hand squeezing his tightly.

Adian grined, "Yeah, he's a cute kid, little whimpy though, it works though because Reiha is so tough she just takes care of it. I'm sure once they start going to school Berial will get more friends, he's too nice to not earn them."

Adian glanced at the ktichen again, and grined at the idea of him getting a girlfriend, "I geuss he's more of the girlfriend type. He just needs to find someone...I dunno calm, able to handle his nervousness, and his awakwardness till it just fades away."

Jizzy Jazz
Berial felt her squeeze and he felt reassurance fill him. Reiha wouldn't leave him.. "and I won't leave you either.." He said, squeezing her hand back. "I make you happy and safe.." He said softly.. Its what he wanted.

She smiled at the thought. "It'd be nice if he found soemone who could deal with him.. I love him to death, but he's got issues.. Plenty of them.." She said, her voice slightly saddend.. Erik was her little brother, in essence.

Flamefire123
Reiha smiled and moved a little so she could cudle up next to Berial, her eyes closed. She felt so safe when she was with Berial like this. So far away from the rotten smess, and scared feelings of the past she couldnt remember. Far away from what scruffy felt.

"Hey." Adian noticed she was getting sad, and he hated that. "Don't worry about it. He's still young, and most of his problems he can grow out of, once he just reaches beyond his shell a little bit he'll realize how cramped it is. Don't worry about him, he's going to be okay, he has a good family, a carrer he loves and a kid who loves him to death. Most people aren't that lucky."

Jizzy Jazz
Berial felt her get closer and he felt safer as well.. Everything was okay with Reiha. There was no fear.. He was needed. "Reiha.." He starte, feeling a bit of insecurity still dwell in him, but what he didn't know.. He didn't know.. "It's nice liek this.." He said simply..

Chel looked over at Adian, the worry lifting from her eyes. He was right. Erik would be alright here. He was already better than when he had left thier place. "Thanks.." She said simply. "Cute and clever.. I bet Erik wanted to keep you a secre from me.."

"Most definatly.." Erik said, his face scrwewd up as he walked back with a tray of chips and some juices. "It's so gross to see you flirting.." He said honestly.

Flamefire123
Reiha moved back too look at Berial's face and smiled as she gave him a tight hug, "Yeah, it is. We got to keep on having nights like this." she murrmed, "Simple and easy, forever and ever." she murrmed.

Adian laughed as Erik returned. He snatched some chips up and ate happily before sitting down on the couch. "Oh come on Erik, we all know I'm a real prize." he laughed at his own ego, before grining back at Chel, "You just afraid she might like me, Erik?"

Jizzy Jazz
Soemthing in the back of his mind told him ti wouldn't be all this easy. That dark times would come, but he just smiled. "Yeah.. Forever and ever.." He said. He'd try to keep it this way surely.

Erik rolled his eyes. "It'd be awkward. You'd end up sleeping with each other and then things would be all awkward.." He said frowning and shuddering. "its gross jsut to think about it.."

"Aww. Come on, Erik. You worry too much.." She said. "Awakrd is the last of thigns I feel after having sex."

"Ewww! Bad mental image!"

Flamefire123
Adian laughed loudly at what Chel said, "I like your family Erik." he told him, then grined at Chel, "Since we're having sex, would you like a date first?" he offered, "Maybe tonight, I could let the brat stay here, she'll love it and we'll have my place to our selves." he offered, clearly not bothered he was doing all this in front of Erik.

Reiha felt the same way. There was too much that both kids couldn't remember for things to stay this easy, and Reiha knew the natural problem of hormones would eventually kick in but...she wanted the lie for now, she wanted the promise of a forever that would never be.

Jizzy Jazz
(not posting for Berial because.. he's well difficult XD)

"Wait WHAT? I was joking!" Erik exclaimed his eyes widening. It had been an attempt at a joke. He hadn;t actually meant for thm to hook up.

"That sounds great, actually." Chel replied, ignoring Erik, also unphazed by his precense before she looked up at him. "Come on, think of the bright side. You get to keep your room all to yourself for tonight."

"I know.. but.. do you always have to be soo.. so." He scrunched up his face and looked away. It was gross whe it involved Chel..

Flamefire123
Adian grin came bright and almost insecure, he was use to having more time before a date but...hell, he didn't really care. The point was that he got a date, and promised sex. Whoo!

"Great, how about I just go back to my house, get the brat some stuff," And get him looking a little better, "Then I can come back and take you out on the town?" Adian offered.

Jizzy Jazz
"Sounds like a plan." She said beaming. She was quite pleased too. Not only did she have a date and promised sex, but she also got to be taken out to get a better look at Gaia (she doubted Erik would take her many places..) Sure it was short notice, but him leaving get her chance to get fixed up for a ight on the town.

Turning to Erik who had buried his face in his hands, she smiled. "You don't mind taking Reiha for the night do you?" She finalyt hought to ask.

Erik jsut sighed not looking up from his hands.. "It's fine.." He said, his voice defated.. He ever could win when it came to Ixchel.

Flamefire123
"I'll make it up to you Erik." Adian promised him, then smiled at Chel. "I'm gonna talk to Reiha now and make sure it's cool with her. Though I don't know why it shouldn't be, and then I'll go." Adian told Chel, getting up as he headed for Berial's room. He opened the door and paused for a moment at the almost romantic scene he walked in too. His heart jerked slightly as he tried to discect the feelings inside him before he just shook his head.

"Reiha? Would you like to spend the night here?"

Reiha was still laying with Berial in his room, watching the fake stars. She sat up though when Adian came in. She frowned a little anoyed at the interuption but soon she just grined brightly at the offered.

"Yeah."

"Cool, I'm gonna go home and get your stuff, then pick you up in the morning." Adian didn't mention the date, he didn't see a reason too. Better Chel remain Berial's aunt, not his lover. Reiha hated him having sex for some reason.

"Great! Did you here that Berial? I get to stay with you tonight"

Jizzy Jazz
Berial eyes lit up at Adian's suggestion and he looked over at Reiha. "Tha's great!" He said exiteded now. SHe didn't need to leave tonight.. Thier little happy bubble wouldn;t burst for tonight.

Chel nodded at Adian and got up as he did, moving over to Erik though and placing a hand on his shoulder. "Just relax, dear.. I won;t emotionall scar your friend, okay?.." She said, giving his shoudler a bit of a squeeze.

Erik ndoded weakly. "Just.. have fun.. Stay safe.. There's a bunch of wierdos in Gaia, and while Adian isn;t ne of them, still.."

Chel smiled. "I'll stay safe.." She said and left to Erik's room, where all her luggage was at the moment.

*Warning, RP contains silliness and seriousness. Those unable to laugh should stop reading now*

Jizzy Jazz
It had been a nice night, Chel though as she settle into the seat at the small coffe shop she and Adian had dropped by this morning. Her hands cupped around a meg full of tea she was still in her super-content mode.

She made a sot sort of pleased sighing noise and took a long drink of her tea.. "This is a nice place." She said, still a bit tired and still very happy..

Flamefire123
Adian just grined in agreement. He'd admit he was a little surpise to find Chel still with him in the morning. Most girls slink out sometime after "oh god!" and "good morning" but Adian found he couldn't complain, not after last night. In fact he couldn't wipe the smile off his face, but he didn't think Chel would mind. After all it was her fault it was there.

"Yeah, it is. I use to come here a lot before Reiha." Back when he had spare time and spare cash. Adian found the thought didn't come with bitterness just...memory. It wasn't a great memory, but it wasn't bad ether, just a memory of a life he no longer had.

Or wanted.

"It's kinda nice to be back."

Jizzy Jazz
She was a bit surprised herself to find herself staying with Adian. Ussually soemthing went wrong and she´d find some way to slink away before they woke, but tonight she´d slept well, and things had gone jsut fine.

She wished for more nights like this. "It´s nice to have a steady coffe place, I guess.. The place where I used to go they already knew my order." She said smiling and taking another long drink.

As she looked up though her eyes went wide. "********.." She whispered, her eyes trailing behind Adian. One of her exes, back from when she actually dated had just strode in.. It.. hadn´t been a pretty breakup.

Slinking down into the seat she tried to remain inconsipcois but he stopped her and walked over anyways.

"Ixchel? Is that you?" He said. He was a short man, a tad rounder than he was when Chel ahd first known him. He had small beady sort of eyes and wasn´t particularly good looking at all. He looked even.. greasy..

Chel had found his jokes funny... for a while..

"Nathan.. Uh.. Hi.." She said awkwardly, looking over to Adian. Nathan caught the look though and followed her gaze.

"A friend of yours?" He asked, his beady eyes narrowing a litle. Chel could have groaned or shouted at him. Why on earth was he anrrowing his eyes at Adian, the short bugger?

Flamefire123
Adian couldn't agree more. he pondered if he should ask Chel to do that again. Normally he was a one date man but even he settled into a light girlfriend now and then, as long as it was just fun. Chel was a blast ********" Adian glanced up when he heard Chel swear then he looked back to see what she was looking back. Then he had to try to stop himself from laughing.

Now Adian wasn't a vain man, he knew he wasn't hot, or even handsome. He had a odd charm and was just good at doing funny flirting. he made a girl comfortable and was always up front with exactly what he wanted.

But he was better looking than this man giving him the evil eye right now, and he knew it. He laughed, the manw as acting like a jealous boyfriend, and if he wasn't an ex (though Adian doubted Chel would date a man like this) then Adian didn't care. Chel came with him willingly, and never told him she was taken so he wasn't in fault.

Technically.

"Good friend." Adain grined at him as he streatched out, arching a bit as he showed off his full hight. "How about you shortstack? You friends with Chel too?"

Jizzy Jazz
Chel could have snerked into her tea. Good friend. She wanted to laugh out loud at the look Nathan was giving Adian at that moment. She even kept herself from making a mental bet with ehrself on when the vien in his temple would pop. She though, in ways of self control, she was doing great.

Nathan huffed at Adian shortstack comments, trying to puff himself up, like the animals do on those nature shows. "Yes, actually. But we fell out of touch." He said, glancing at Chel, who resisted a glare before turning to Adian.

"We dated a long time ago.." She said. Enphasis on Long time agao.. as in.. not iomportant to the now at all.

Flamefire123
Adian grined, "Hey that's funny!" he told Chel, reaching over to nudge her arm before he sent one almost cold stare to Nathen. If there was one thing Adian couldn't stand it wa a man picking on a woman. Equality be damned, it just wasn't right in his mind. "Because we're dating now." Adian told him firmly.

Then Adian rose, to prove to Nathen just how much taller he was than him, and gave him that friendly goof ball smile of his. the one that hide years of training in fighting that toned the body and hours of running heavy boxes from point A to point B kept him fit. Adian looked harmless.

that's how he wanted it. He didn't want people to think he was big and tough, that way when he did get into a fight, it would be a surpise, then he would already have and advantage.

"So, I geuss you're proably busy." Adian mentioned, placing a hand on his head before ruffling his hair, "Little guy."

Jizzy Jazz
Chel almsot opened her mouth to ask Adian what was funny, but at the nudge and his words it clicked and Chel smiled. It was so nice of him to say that to prevent any trouble with Nathan.. Soon after starting to date she had discovered him to be rather.. creepy.

Nathan´s eyes flared and he went to Chel giving her a sort of death glare. As Adian stood, Nathan puffed hismelf upas well as if to show Adian he wasn´t afraid of him. The vein at his temple was clearly bulging now.

"Actually, I´m not busy right now. I was wondering if Chel would liek to catch up?¨He said, his voice stewing with silent fury. Little guy? He was not a little guy!

Chel frowned. "Not today, Nathan." or ever, really. Never sounds jsut fine.

But Nathan only drew up a chair, not showing any signs of intimidation from Adian´s stance and hieght. "Oh, come on.. for old times sake.."

Flamefire123
Adian's face frowned for a second, then smiled. He leaned down and rested on Nathen's head. Just grining at Chel before looking down at Nathen.

"Sure thing Nathen, why don't we all get reaquainted?" Adian asked, even as he leaned on the guy as if he was some form of furniture or something odd like that. "Let's see, well I was born twenty two years ago..." Adian started and set forth on a clearly false version of his life. Including unicorns and becoming a knight, just trying to anoy the man.

"Then as I raced to the sun to fight the evil cloud-god," Adian continued, as he winked at Chel, before glancing down to Nathen himself, "I'm sorry, is this borining you shot-stuff?" he asked.

Jizzy Jazz
It was a testament to Chels self control that she only almsot giggle once during Adian´s story. Instead she opted to nod, and beam proudly at Adian at the right moment in the story.

Nathan´s vein should have burst by the way it was pulsing. Rushing his fingers through his greasy hair. "Not boring at all. It does seem a bit outlandish though." His gaze traveled to Chel. "Makes me wonder what you see in Ixchel here? Certainly a well trained knight that fights gods isn´t that interesterd in a mathmatician.." Chel´s look could have killed him right there.

Flamefire123
Adian looked confused for a moment, then shrugged it off as he leaned close to Nathen, "yeah, but can you see her rack?" Adian whispered, "Plus she has this spot where if you push it..." Adian laughed and pulled back, "Well...maybe I said to much."

He grined at Chel and reached over to her, grabing her hand to tug him into his arms, hugging her close to nuzzle her neck. "Plus she smells really good." Adian added, smirking over to Nathen.

"And she's fun to be with. Plus if I can handle Erik, Chel is nothing."

Jizzy Jazz
Chel didn´t strain to hear whatever Adian was whispering to Nathan. Whatever it was that amde him look ready to murder the redhead, she was okay with.

She yelped slightly as Adian tugged her close and hearing his words she smiled. "I smell like you right now." She told him, fighignt a giggle, which only made Nathan look even more furious.

The sincher was the mention of Erik though. his eyes almsot wet to slits and his knuckles were white against the table. "You mean you´ve met the brat?" He said, unable to keep the politelness any longer. He often blamed Erik for thier relationshiop going fowl.

Chel frown"Erik is not a brat, you a**." She said defensevily. The gloves were off now.

Flamefire123
"Maybe that's why it's so good." Adian murrmed and then nipped at her ear. That was just for him though, he liked her there Adian realized, liked holding her so close. it was odd, Adian was always 'cuddly' but normally only in bed. He wasn't one to be out of bed too.

Then he forogt all about that as Nathen insulted Erik. Adian was close to the boy, he felt like he was...like a little brother or something. And the only people Adain felt more tempted to protect than an attacked woman, was family.

"Hey!" Adian called out, and was done playing around as he reached down to pull Nathan to his feet now but he didn't hug him close. "I think it's time you go." He said firmly.

"I don't think anyone here wants you here." Adian added and stood firmly between him and Chel. "Now, please, leave." The please did not lower the power of the command.

Jizzy Jazz
Chel did nothing to stop Adian in his anger. She felt jsut as upset. The anger even clouded the fact of how odd it had felt (and not exactly in a bad way) to be hugged by Adian.

"Adian´s right. I think it´s time for you to leave.." She said. Nathan´s eyes trained themselves on both of them before yanking free of Adian´s hands.

"I´ll see you around, Ixchel." He siad, the words that could have beena friendly goodbye, so venomous that the threat made Chel shiver. He turned away, shooting one last glare at them before leaving the coffe shop..

Chel sunk down isntatnly.. " sorry ´bout that.." She said softly. That had put a damper on the day.

Flamefire123
Adian glared back, then let out a long sigh as he finally left. He wasn't use to that anger comming up on him like that but then people didn't normally insult people he considered family in fornt of him, especially after clearly hitting on the girl he was...with...at that moment in time.

Speaking of which, Adian turned and suddenly grabed Chel's face as he leaned in to kiss her deeply, to make her feel better. Clearly this anoyed her, just a few moments ago she was so happy, so content and now...Now Adian wanted to change some of it.

When he finally pulled back he looked into Chel's eyes. "Don't worry about him." Adian ordered softly, then smiled, "You got me now."

Jizzy Jazz
Chel was shocked at the sudden kiss, but she appreciated the gesture nontheless. She was bothered by Nathan´s arrival, especilalyy here in Gaia, where she was stilll king of a stranger to the lands. But Adian´s kiss reminded her that she ahd people ehre. People she could count on. Even in the odd lands of Gaia.

As he pulled away she smiled up at him, genuinely. "Thank you.. You´re jsut so sweet." She said, the smile not faltering from her face and eyes. Things.. things were good again.

Flamefire123
"Hey, something had to get me laid." Adian joked, just to make things light again as he sat down, taking her hand and squeezing it lovingly, "I really don't want you to worry Chel. Do you want to go to Erik's? We could gross him out and coo over the kids." Adian offered, smiling as he just tried to be there for her.

she was strong, so very strong and right now she was weakening. It was just...Adian's nature to push her back up so she wont crumble. He wouldn't let her lose that spark, or that laugh.

Jizzy Jazz
Chel couldn´t help but laugh at his light banter. She nodded though. "If you were only trying to get me to sleep with you, you didn´t need to try so hard." She joked back. She would have gladly done this again with him, maybe not today, but surely.

She smiled and nodded. "But grossing out Erik and cooing over kids does sound like a relaly nice option right now. I wouldn´t mind watching him squirm a little right now." She said, smilñing solidly now as she down the last bit of ehr tea. It was cold by now, but.. she didn´t mind right now.

Flamefire123
Adain smiled down at her, "Great, then lets go." he urged, pulling her to her feet again. He made sure to grab her tea and handed it to her, but ignored his own coffee, he didn't need it, it was all awake now. Nothing woke him up like a fight and it always made him need a good day afterwards.

Adain wasn't a fighter, not really. He could fight but he didn't like too. He didn't like that Nathan guy though, or the way he was eyeing Chel, there was something odd about it.

He's proably nothing, just a bunch of hot air. Adian tried to tell himself, but he couldn't convince himself.

Jizzy Jazz
Chel´s reflection looked back at her from the mirror as she turned again, looking herself up and down in the small dressing room. While red certainly clashed with her current hair color, she thought this piece of lingerie was quite nice. She´d probbaly buy it.

She didn´t feel at all guilty either, which Erik would say she should because he had sent her out to get groceries. But she ahd already bought the grocieries and had walked by the shop. There was no harm since she had already done the chore, right. SMiling she nodded at herself. I bet Adian will like this..

Turning from the mirror she bent down to get her clothes off the bench, not hearing the slight rustle of the dressing room curtain. Before she was able to stand back up, a cloth covered her nose and mouth and, after a muffled scream, her world went quickly black.

Back at home, hours later, Erik was pacing. "What is taking her? Do you think she got lost?" He asked. Scruffy rolled his eyes.

"I think you worry too much." He said from his position on the couch. Berial was on the floor coloring and not paying too much attention to the conversation at all.

"It´s been 5 hours! She hasn´t even called.. she could be.." He trailed off as the phone gave a sudden ring and he let out a sigh of relief. Moving to the phoen he picked up.

"Do you have any idea ho..." His voice trailed as he came to the realization that this was NOT Chel on the other line.. Definatly not Chel.

"..I. Nathan?" His eyes narrowed and Scruffy eyes him cautiously. He´d only ever seen that glare directed at hismelf, and not even that potently.

"What have you done with Chel, you rat?" He hissed in the phone, careful to keep the conversation from his sons ears.. He was silent for a moment before almost dropping the phone..

"You.. you b*****d.." He said, his tone even lower. Scruffy´s eyesbrows almsot melted into his hair. He´d never heard Erik curse before. Looking down at Berila he coughed to catch his attention.

"Hey kid.. Could you go to your room and finish up there, please? He asked politely. He had been much ncier to Berial recently. Berial smiled up and nodded, picking up his colors and entering his room jsut as Erik let out a loud expletative Scruffy would have though never would emerge from Erik´s mouth. The teen slammed down the receiver and turned to Scruffy.

"Chel´s been kidnapped and brainwahsed.." He said, his tone clipped and business like. He reached ove to a notepad he had written on during the conversationa dn wrote soemthing handing it to Scruffy. "I´m going to go get her, but don´t know what kind of spell Nathan used. I might be affected too.. If I´m not back in 2 hours, I want you to call for help." And he turned

Scruffy blinked a few times before shouted. "Help? From what I´ve heard this madhouse doesn´t even have police. Who do I call?"

Erik stopped for a moment before reaching the staircase to the lab before looking up. "Call Adian.." He said, and vanished into the lab. Minutes later, hsi satchel full he sent a weak sort of smile at Scruffy.. "Wish me luck.." He said..

Two hours later, Scruffy was by the phone, dialing the number labeled Adian that ahd been left on the fridge.

Flamefire123
"Okay, I have one question." Reiha spoke up, sitting in Erik's living room as she looked between the three boys who surrounded her. She already knew the general story, and after looking though her magic book Reiha is pretty sure she knows at least the kind of spell Nathan might be using. It effects people though blood which is proably why Erik didn't come back and if Nathan called that means he wanted Erik to come.

That wasn't what she wanted to ask about though. Oh no she understood that. She didn't even seem surpised at the information that Chel was kidnaped, like she expected everyone to be kidnaped eventually. It wasn't that that confused her. It was obvious what confused Reiha.

"What the hell are you wearing?" she demanded of Adian.

"A Robin Hood costume." Adian replied straightening the little hat as he looked into the mirror and looked over his body. "Look if I'm going to save a chick from a short fat man I might as well be dressed properly for the occassion right?" Adain asked Reiha as he grabed the final peiece of his costume; a long broadsword carefully inserted into a seath. He wraped the belt around his waist and looked over his outfit again.

Yep, he looked rediclious. Which is exactly what he wanted. If Nathan saw him in this he wouldn't think Adian was a threat and he wouldn't think the sword was real. Adian had the edges dulled, so he couldn't kill Nathan but could hurt the man. He didn't like to see blood, but the weapon might be needed.

Adain refused to use a gun.

Reiha opened his mouth to ask why he was wearing that but just closed it again and let out a slow groan before looking at Scruffy. He voted himself out of this little trip almsot as soon as Adian steped into the door. Reiha though wasn't going to let Adian go without her, and her base magical skills comming along.

"I'm comming too Adian." Reiha said firmly, for the third time.

Adian glanced at Reiha, frowning, "I don't think it's safe Reiha, what if he hurts you?"

"How could he hurt me? I'm not related to Chel or Erik. I got my magic book AND I can fight too." Reiha pointed out firmly.

Adian frowned still and looked away, "Reiha..."

Jizzy Jazz
Scruffy was still in slight shock from seeing Adian in that getup. He had even thought of locking him out of the house, but he knew hismelf and if Erik had said two hours. Erik meant two hours. "You look ridiculous." He stated again. Just to make sure Adian knew.

Berial was pouting next to Reiha. His Mu was in trouble and so was Chel. He felt worry wfill him as he rubbed hios blighted arm iddly. "I want to help too.." He said as Reiha declared her wish to go with Adian.

Scruffy rolled his eyes before looking up at Adian. I can´t do squat to help. If it is a blood spell, I´ll be affected too.. It.. it wouldn´t be abck to bring reinforcements, even if it is jsut the kids." He said honestly. From what he had heard of Nathan during Chel´s rant and Eriks´s short explaination afterwards the man was nothing but scum who had gotten his hands on some magic. "Besides, Reiha´s right. If the jerk´s using magic, you might need some magic to fight back."

Flamefire123
"First off, that's the point." Adian told Scruffy as he smoothed his hair a little and scratched his legs. The green tights were itchy, but at least the looked good. Adian thought he had pretty good legs, what with how much running he did. He looked back to the kids and sighed a little. Scruffy had a point, and he kinda feared Reiha running off after him and getting lost.

Then he'd be missing two girls.

"Okay, you two can come but only if you promise to stay back and that you'll run if anything happens. And if ether one of you get caught by the spell I want the other person to get them out of there, okay?" Adian demanded from the kids as he looked between them. "I don't want you guys hurt, okay?"

"Okay." Reiha agreed quickly, understanding the wisdom in what he was asking for. Besides as a magic user she should stay back and try to undo Nathan's spell, and then she can have Berail around to protect her or for her to protect. She'd feel better if he stayed close if he came. "I promise."

Jizzy Jazz
Beiral nodded as well. It was a reasonable request, though, he wasn´t 100% sure he would flee if Reiha was caught by the spell, but he didn´t voice that at all.

Scruffy watched and nodded, standing up."This place is such a mad house.." He muttered before looking over at all of them. "If you aren´t back by tommorow, I´ll find some sort of law enforcement to come after you. It´s impossible that all the mattters in this crazy place are handled by people.."He said sourly, but hidden in there was the message he intentded. Be careful and stay safe..

Flamefire123
"Thanks man." Adain said and waved him before he took both kid's hands and lead them to the car. Luckily Erik wrote down where he was going before he left. Good old Erik, he was dependable. He managed to think of everything without taking to look to do so.

The drive there was short and grim. Adian didn't talk, though he did swear a few times over his sword getting in the way. Maybe he should have waited till he was there before putting it on. Oh well to late now.

As they arived Adian turned off the car then looked back to the kids. "I'll go in, wait five minutes than follow. If we're lucky nathan wont know you're there till after I'm done kicking his a**." Adian sighed and got out, straightening his costume before he walked to the door.

Reiha snorted a little but sat back, "We'll wait two." she told Berial as she started to look though her book for the counterspell. "Well Good thing we have paint here." Reiha muttered, she'd need to make symbols to cast the counter spell.

Jizzy Jazz
The door was unlocked and slightly ajar from when Erik had made his dashing rescue attempt. Nathan was sprawled on the couch looking quite pleased with himself. Chel (still in the red lingerie she had been kidnapped in) was bending over him with a bushel of grapes, blank eyed. How horribly cliche.

"Say it again, Ixchel.." He muttered as he finished off another one of the grapes. Chel answered without much hesitation. "You are the most amazing man I have ever had the honor of knowing, Master.." He smileda t her answer, despite the blandness of her voice. Erik was not in plain sight until he emerged from a side rom, wearing a jester costume and started to juggle some oranges.. Nathan laughed..

Saying he was messed up would be an udnerstatment.

Back in the car Berial nodded, rubbing his arm iddlya she had the entire car ride. It.. well, it was bothering him. It wasn´t pain or even an itch, jsut that something was wrong, and the more worried he got. The more wrong his arm felt. "WHat do you want me to do, Reiha?" He asked. He wnated to knwo what part he´d play.

Flamefire123
Adain walked to the door, took a deep breath then...BURST in! (He had to make an entrance after all) Adain opene dhis mouth to try to think of something really dramatic to say but fell kinda short. He let out a sigh, opned his mouth again and said the first thing that came to mind.

"THIS IS SPARTA!" Okay...well at least he yelled. Adian stroded forward and stoped when he really caught sight of Chel....mmmmm, nice...The man shook his head as he realized he didn't have time for those thoughts quite yet. So he turned his atention to Nathan.

"I'm here to get Erik and Chel back." he said firmly...in his Robin Hood costume, with tights.

Reiha checkedthe clock in the car then nodded, it's been a few minutes so she closed her books and grabed her water colors that were in the car before she turned to give Berial a smile. "You can be my knight, my protecter. You protect me while I complete my spell, or you can help me draw my spell." Reiha told him, "Which ever you want."

Jizzy Jazz
Nathan looked up in slight shock as Adian burst in but hsi eys widened.. This is Sparta? This guy had to be crazier than he ahd originally thought. And that costume?

"Well you can leave seeing as they don´t want to go back, right Ixchel?" He said cooly, obviously feeling he had the upper hand. Chel nodded, her eyes on Adian. "Yes." She said. Nathan´s eyes narrowed, going from happy and confident, to violent ina split second as he reached up and grasped Chel´s hair, yanking her close.

"What was that?" He hissed. Chel´s eyes darted from him to Adian then back, still hazy.. "Yes, Master.."She finally said. Nathan let go of her hair. For a moment he had been worried he had lost a bit of control. His eyes still anrgy he turned them on Adian. "Brat.. Why don´t you escort our guest out?"

For the firs ttime since Adian had burst in, Erik dropped the oranges he was juggling. Nodding wordlessly hes tarted towards Adian.

Berial smiled back. He would defend her, and make sure she would be safe as she worked the counterspell. "Okies.." He said, climbing out of the car after Reiha.

Flamefire123
Adian's eyes narrowed as nathen violent grabed Che's hair. He hated any guy, even a pathetic low life like Nathan, hitting a girl, any girl, even a gorgeous strong girl like Chel. It was different though, because it was Chel and it was Nathan. It made him angrier, more pissed.

"don't touch her!" Adian snaped as he started to move forward. He ignored Erik because he didn't feel like hiting the man and he knew that the boy was far to weak than him to be an actual threat.

"Why don't you fight me? Like a real man? Or are you too short to fight girls with magic?" Adian taunted.

Reiha smiled as she grabed her stuff then opened the door. "lets go in." she urged, taking Berial's hand. "We're going to save you." she promised him.

Jizzy Jazz
Nathan bristled at the mention of the word short and he stood from the couch, bringng himself to full height, whoch was still quite a bit shorter than Erik (the shortest of the three). "You´re jsut trying to taunt me.." He said through gritted teeth. It was obvious he was getting upset. "I´m not going to fall for it." He was close too though.

"Fight the brat, instead, for now.." He said and Erik trained his balnk eyes onto Adian. The magic crystal he had brought with him to fight Nathan still hung around his neck and with a snap of his fingers fire leapt up at the tips. Nathan smirked.

Berial took it an nodded, followig her in. His arm gave an uncomfortuble sort of pang sa he saw the scene.. "ERIK!" He couldn´t keep from crying out. The look he had on his face wasn´t one that Erik ahd.. It wasn´t his Mu..

Erik turned as he ws tossing the fireball, so isntead of even remotely going towards Adian, it hit the wall above Berial and Reiha´s heads, singing it.

Flamefire123
Adian glanced at Erik and blinked, "Oh s**t." he had forgotten that Erik did magic too. Adian slowly drew his sword (mostly because he wasn't sure what else to do) and held it in clamy hands in front of him. He looked at Erik, then glanced to Chel again. She'd be so pissed if he hurt her little cousin. Still...self defense.

"Erik, come on, you don't wnat to hurt me." Adain called out as he slowly moved forwrd, tightening his grip on the sword. He kept eye contact with the boy, wanting to conect with him. "I'm your friend. I'm gonna get you laid...remember?"

Luckily, Reiha ducked and pulled Berial down with her as she swore lightly and started to tug him over to the side, she opened the book and handed him the paints. "We need to make the counter spell quickly." Reiha urge, trying to remember her magical words to try to help Adian. If only she was taught anything useful in an actual fight! Erik's ony been teaching her stuff like lights and floating.

Jizzy Jazz
Erik wavered slightly, his eyes less balnk but still rather.. hazy as he snapped hsi fingers again, summoning up another fireball.

Chel had her arm wrapped around a smirking Nathan. "Don´t seem so tough now, do you big guy?" He taunted, the smirk a permanent fixture upon his face. He was sure he had won. He hadn´t even really cared about the two kids that had scurried in. WHat could a pair of kids do anyways? His smirk grew wider as Erik tossed another fireball in Adian´s direction..

Berial´s mark started to move under the pressure and he grasped the paints. Glancing at the open book, he uncorked the white paint and started to draw the dispelling circle on the hardwood floor.

Flamefire123
Adian groweled, anoyed with how he had Chel wraped around him. He was going to givve Nathan such a thrashing when this whole thing was done. This was just...stupid. He was fighting this great friend of his! Why? Too feed his own ego?

"You're digusting." he told Nathan before his attention was taken away by Erik. Unsure what to do Adian just held up his sword to defend him, swinging it once as the fire came close, hitting it (and surpising him) off to the side.

"Oh...that's right, this sword deflects magic." Adian had forgetten the actual reason he brought the sword in the first place.

Reiha watched in wory as she grabed the blue pain and started to make her own circles. She muttered magic words under her breath as she tried to get this done. She had to save Erik! He was so nice to her, he didn't deserve this.

Jizzy Jazz
It was to feed his ego and it was feeding Nathan´s ego greatly. That was until the fireball came hurtling towards him. He yelped slightly, jumping out of the way and glatting daggers at Adian. "Magic won´t work. Try somethign else, Brat!" He barked.

Erik estinguished the fire he had been forming in his palm and he paused. Soemthing was warring behind his eyes and he scanned the room, apaprently from non specifity of the command. His eyes landed on Berial and the hae seemed to lift.. "Berial?" He whispered. Nathan was fuming. Erik ahd broken control. "Get nrid of the kids!" He barked and the haze started to creep back into Erik´s eyes, his hand started to spark with magic.

Berial was focused intently on his circles until Erik´s voice called his name. "Mu.." He called back watching the haze start to crep back into his guardians eyes. He scuttled quickly placing himself in front of Reiha. "No." He said firmly, though he looked about to cry.

Erik was frozen in place.. TOrn between the magic Nathan had placed on him,a nd the please of Adian and Berial.

Flamefire123
Adain wait for one side or the other to win. He couldn't risk Erik hurting Reiha, or Berial. It would just...cause to much problems. He ran forward, tackling the boy as he droped his sword to grab two different things. His right hand snatched Erik's glasses, knowing he couldn't see without them, his left hand went to the crystal, taking it from him to make sure he couldn't use it anymore.

"Reiha!" Adian looked to his girl and threw the crystal and the glasses, praying that she just caught them and he wouldn't own Erik a new pair. Then he turned quickly, needing to get his sword back before he attacked Nathan. He disabled Erik, now he just needed to break this spell.

Reiha looked up from her painting, seeing as Berial did what he'd say he would do. He jumped in front of her to protect her. Reiha's eyes whiden as she started to move up to get him out of the way when Adain suddenly tackeled Erik. She relaxed when he stole Erik's glasses because she knew how much he needed them. The crystal stealing was a rare flash of intellgence from Adain.

One that was countered with how he threw the precious items. Reiha raced forward and barely managed to catch them both with a sigh. She turned and offered Berial the glasses before she tied the crystal around her neck. Now she had the power.

Jizzy Jazz
Erik did not resist Adian´s tackle, nor the fact that he stole the two items that made him of any real use to Nathan. Nathan practically growled in anger. What sort of hold did that brat have on Erik to make it break the spell that way?

He watched as Adian turned to him, his sword in his hand and paled. He was practically defenseless now, so he did the only thing that crept into his cowardly little mind. He hid behind Chel.

Berial took the glasses without hesitation, knowing how important they were to his Mu. Both Scruffy and him needed them to see, he´d learned this first hand after having taken Erik´s glasses on one occasion. Hanging them off the color of his shirt he picked up his color againa dn scribbled a bit before lookign up. "Mine´s done.." He said, hoping he had drawn it right.

Flamefire123
Now Adian was a good going guy. He'll take slaps in the face, drinks spilled over his head and even a swift kick in the groin, without fighitng back. He could be back into the corner and merely joke with his attackers and when they were done he wouldn't hate them. In fact there was only one person Adian had ever hated in his life.

Till today.

At that moment Adain hated Nathan. He hated that he was fat, and short. He hated his hair color. He hated the noise he made by breathing. Most of all he ahted the man's cowardiece.

"You little coward." Adian groweled as he walked firmly forward. He would get this b*****d, he wouldn't let him leave this warehouse without some bruises and proably a broken bone or two.

Reiha snaped her fingers like Erik did and got the crystal to glow. She smiled before she turned to look over Berial's art. She nodded slowly, "good, very good." she murrmed then returned to her half of the picture. She was almost done. Then both Erik and Chel would be free for ever, even Scruffy.

Jizzy Jazz
Nathan could have whimpered at the tone of Adian´s voice, but he simply woudln´t actually allow himself to wimper. Cowering, on the other hand, was an entirely different manner. He was cowering behidn Chel, a feat made easy by the fact that Chel was just that much taller than him for him to hide behind properly.

"B...bback off!" He stammered, trying to sound intimidating, but failing as his eyes darted to the kids. The kids knew magic.. He knew, he was screwed. Gulping, he turned and ran from Adian towards the back door.

Berial nodded proudly as he watched the crystal light up. Moving slowly he went to Erik´s side and placed his ahdn on Erik´s arm, his hazy eyes jsut staring blankly up at the ceiling. "It´ll be okies.."

Flamefire123
That was what Adain was waiting for. His long limber legs jumped forward quickly than ate the ground as he raised his sword. He would this sword, he walked in here not planing too but he didn't know he would learn to hate a man by the end of the day.

"I've never met someone as cowardly as you. Someone as pathetic. Or someone as stupid." Adian groweled as he caught up and slamed his blunted sword into his back. He only hit him once with the sword, after that he put it down and used his fists to beat on the man.

"You steal my girl. You embaress my friend and you threatened my child. Clearly you and I have a huge problem." Adain groweled as he slamed his fist into Nathan's chek as he grabed his collar to force him to stay on his feet as he hit him in the face again. "Shortie." he spat at him, hiting him again.

Adain was mad.

Reiha was done. She let out a bright grin as she grabed her book forward and glanced up to see how the fight was going. And saw Adain beating the crap out of Nathan. he just kept on hiting the man, without care or fear of return shots. He just attacked with steady hate, steady anger.

And Reiha understood.

She tore her sight away from Adain and looked down to the book. She palced it inbetween the two circles and started to recite the words.

Jizzy Jazz
Nathan cried out in pain once, and only once, when the sword salmmed into his back. He only gave grunts of pain as fist after fist came crashing into his face. His nose was broken early oon in the onslaught and was bleeding slightly. But his pride would not let go of him, even in cowardice. At the taunt of Shortie, he cracked open the one eye that wasn´t starting to swell shut, and glared at Adian wih hate. "She´s.. not.. your.. girl..." He wheezed. Some comeback that was.

As Reiha chanted, the two Belmonte´s (who ahdn´t moved) started to stir. The haze lifted from Erik´s eys and he blinked a few times before his hand reached out to where Berial was touching his arm. "Berial?" He asked softly, sitting up carefully and glancing around blindly. He could barely make out basic shapes.

Berial nodded, and pulled the glasses out from his shirt placing them on Erik´s face. "It´s okies now.." He said softly

Erik gulped and adjusted his glances, reaching up to his head and ripping off the jester hat.. "I´m so sorry, Berial. I ddn´t mean.. I.. couldnñt stop myself from.. I´m sorry.." He said. He had almsot attacked the kids.. "It´s okies now."

Chel´s recovery was a bit faster. She blinked once, then twice, before her eyes steeled over, sparkling with fury. "Where is that RAT?!" She bellowed, turning around to where Adian was beating Nathan up. "Adian! Stop!" She cried, rushign towards them, ehr eyes blazing. "I want a piece of him too.." She said with a fury that made Nathan shudder..

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

Flamefire123
Adain groweled. The fact that he even spoke enraged him. He threw the man to the ground now and started to hit him harder, sometimes pulling back long enough to kick him several times. He didn't stop till he heard Chel's voice. Then he pulled back long enough to look at her. He looked over her once as his anger disapated, but only slightly.

As she approched he moved over and grabed her face before kissing her hard. A claiming one could say, trying to say that she was his, or at least for right now she was.

Just as quickly as he started he finnished, turned quickly and kicked Nathan once more, in the crotch before he turned to give Chel a eerily cool look.

"He's all yours." Adain told her, then turned to walk over to Erik, leaning near Reiha before he pulled her close to him and hug her tight, even as he glanced at Erik, "Are you okay?"

Reiha watched the arrangement with a frown. She was glaring at Adian when he aproched her but then he hugged her so tight as she struggled to get out of the hug. It was embaressing to be hugged like that in front of Berial.

Jizzy Jazz
Chel took a few seconds to recover from the possesive kiss. Adian was furiosu, she could tell, adn she didn´t balme him. Moving to Nathan she glared at him and bent down..

"I am going to make sure you rot in hell, Nathan.." She hissed before pulling her fist back and punching him hard in the face as he opened his mouth the respond.

Feeling satisfied (not to mention her hadn stung a bit, she wasn´t used to punching people that hard), she stood up and went to Erik and Berial, who were sharing a deep hug of thier own, though Berial had been the one to inititate it..

"Everyone, alright?" She asked.

Erik nodded, clinging onto Berial as Berial clung back.. Berial´s mark stopped moving, but he had been so scared.. And Erik, Erik had been terrified.. He had watched himself make the fireball, throw it at the wall. He could have hurt soemone. "We´re okay now.." He whispered..

Chel just watched and nodded as the two men hugged their charges tightly.. Then she looked down at herself and her eyes went wide. "DAMNIT! HE LEFT THE GROCERIES!" She bellowed and pormptly stomped abck to the fallen nathan and kicked him once more.. for those groceries.

Flamefire123
Adain looked back at her surised then sighed. He had two options, laugh or cry. He laughed. It started as a low chuckle but soon it became a full out laugh as he slowly let go of Reiha and fell back. He continued to laugh till he started to sound little insane how much he was laughing.

"God I'm tired." Adain mentioned as he finally stoped, rolling over to his side like he was going to start sleeping right there. "I'm not use to that much stress." He yawned then sat up.

"Oh...and Chel." He sent her a bright grin. "I love your outfit." he told her, still laughing.

Reiha was glad to get out of the hug even as she smiled over Berial and Erik's hug. She sighed and looked down at the paint before she looked back up at Erik.

"Oh! I have your crystal." she told him, pulling it off and offering it to him.

Jizzy Jazz
Chel didn´t seem to think laughing was a crazy idea and her own lips split into a small smile. Moving closer to him she nodded. He certainly should be tired. He jsut rescued them from an evil short man.

At his comment about ehr outfit, she couldn´t help but let out a loud laugh. "I thought you would.." She said simply, still chuckling. She had thought of him as she wore it, afterall.

Erik only jsut noticed Chel´s outfit when Adian pointed it out and his cheeks went scarlet. "CHEL! You.. you´re in your underwear!" He said, in shock.

Chel laughed. "Brilliant observation, Erik.." She said, sitting down by where Adian was laying. "Like I hadn´t noticed.."

Erik only gurmbled soemthing and refused to look at her. Taking the crystal as Reiha offer it he smiled wekaly, still blushing. "Thank you, Reiha." He said.

Berial ahd been quiet since the outfit had been mentioned and he suddenly tilted his head slightly and regarded Chel before beaming at his aunt. "I think it´s pretty." He said, all the innocence in the world shining from his smile.

Erik was convinced Reiha may be the only sane person left here.

Flamefire123
And he was proably right as Reiha let out her own laugh at Berial's comment. It was a sound that made Adian stare, he wasn't use to hearing her laugh. The laugh was surpisingly light for the girl, bell like in how it tinkled a few times, faded and was gone, till the next time it rung.

Adain listened to Reiha's laugh and smiled himself, he looked around and realized...life was good. Over all the day was good. He got to beat a bad guy (in tights!), get the girl, and heard the brat laugh. Also he made Erik squirm. Now all he needed was to get Erik laid and life would be perfect.

Adain laughed again. Life never got perfect, but it often got good. And even after this stressful day of mind control, sexy half dressed woman and fat insane egostical short guys, Adain liked life.

It was just too werid to NOT like.

Berial smiled as he looked up at Adian's door one more time. It was hsi turn to stay over at Reiha's and he wsa exited. Chel stood next to him (being a much better driver than Erik. Erik was NOT a driver) and he beamed up at his aunt as she smiled down at him.

"Have all your things?" She asked kindly, recieving a prompt nod from the boy. Smiling she knocked cooly on the door. She had ulterior motives for volunteering to drive Berial to Adian's.

Flamefire123
Adain opened the door expecting to see Erik but was pleased with the change. "Well, hello." Adain grined, easily picturing her in that 'outfit' she was wearing when kidnaped. Yeah, he liked that outfit. Then he glanced down to the kid and his grin got more warm as he bent down to great him too.

"Hey squirt, the brat is waiting for you." He reached over and ruffeled the kids hair, then stood up again to continue his flirting with Chel. "And I'm waiting for you." he added with a laugh.

Reiha was in her room, setting up another spell. She was waiting for Berial to come in to watch. That way she wouldn't break her promise to him but she could still pratice this spell. She hoped she could do it, the book said she needed a wand but she didn't have anything close to a wand for the spell.

Jizzy Jazz
Berial nodded, not midning the hair ruffle, and rushed into the house exitedly. He wanted to see Reiha. After opening one door wrong, (it lead toa bathroom), Berial found Reiha's door and opened it, beaming at her. "Reiha!" He excalimed moving in and lookign at ehr book. "mm.. were ya doin' magic?" He asked, innocently enough, even though he remembered what he had asked of her.

Chel smiled at him broadly as she looked at him, alughing slightly at his hello. He was so easygoing, it really was refreshing. After Berial scuttled off she responded."I come with very important news." She said, smiling mischeviously as she leaned easily on the doorframe. "A certain cousin of mine is turning 18 soon.."

Flamefire123
"Just setting it up." Reiha told him, and grined, "I was hoping you would watch me while I cast it. If I do it right it should create a picture of what I place in the center." Reiha pointed to Korbin's feather which rested in the center. Korbin hovered near, sitting on Reiha's bed post, watching the pair grumpily.

"alright...legal." Adain laughed even as he sliped an arm around her easily. They never offical ended or continued their realtionship, Adian didn't think of it as he nuzzled her neck lovingly for a second then gave her a kiss. "Is it Erik?"

Jizzy Jazz
Berial's smile widened once he heard she hadn't cast yet and he set his bag down and watched the circle for amoment. "That's cool. You been gettin' really good at magic." He complimented.

Chel didn't think much of it either, especially after what had happened with her kidnapping. She had no trouble with Adian at all, whteher they were together, split up, or even jsut friends with some really nice benefits. She kissed him back and smiled. "Both of them, actually. Though they've kept thier lips tightabout it. Neither of them seem to like celebrating much, but its a big birthday. I can't jsut let it slide by, right?"

Flamefire123
"Not really." Reiha mentioned as she steped back and doubled check everything, "this is just all book work. I haven't been able to cast anything without a book yet." That was her real goal to be able to make up her own spell, some day. "I'm getting better, I don't know if this will work though."

"Oh, tottally. I'll have to bring some girls." Adian murrmed, "Both could use some. I have a lot more choices now that he's legal. It's not like I hang out with 17 year olds all that often." Adian laughed and grined at her. "What should we do?"

Jizzy Jazz
Berial thought she was doing relaly well and was about to say so when she stepped back a bit. Thinking she was starting the spell he receded a bit as well. "Mu only cast with a book most of the time, too though.:" He said, which was true. Most of the tiems Erik cast was with the spelle book in front of him, but that was also becasue msot of the times Erik cast it was much more complciated spellwork.

"Normally I'd agree to the girls.." SHe aid, sound a a bit pensive for a moment before continuing.. "But I think Erik would like it if Berial were at the party and as innocnet as oblivious as he is, we should probably keep it PG. Not to mention Beiral would want Reiha there and I doubt she'd approve.." SHe said.. She hadn' spent a lot of time around Reiha, but she was pretty sure the girl wouldn't approve at all. She didn't seem the type.

Flamefire123
"yeah but Erik does really amazing spells." Reiha countered, "I'll get to that level some day soon, but first I need to write my own, just something simple, and I'll find a way." Reiha sighed, "this be easier with a wand. Does Erik have a wand?" Reiha asked.

Adain frowned as he thoughta bout Reiha, "True." he muttered, "She freaks if I so much as hint to a sex life." Adian glanced way. Her complete and utter hate of sex worried Adain. A girl her age shouldn't know what it was and evne if she did it should seem gross, not horrible. He already asumed she was abuised before but what if it wasn't just physical...what if it was...sexual....Adain shook his head and glanced back to Chel, forcing a smile to his face. "PG it is. I'll save the girls for another time."

Jizzy Jazz
Berial looked down at the floor for amoment before shaking his head in shame.. "I.. I broke his.. I.. I didn't mean to. It was on the sofa and I sat on it.." He said very fast. He was oobviouslys till feelign a bit guilty from the incident..

Chel's face dipped into a frown as she heard what Adian said.. or moreso, the way he said it and his face.. If he had said it with a light smile, she would have taken it as a normal sort of freak out.. How awkward is it to think about your parent's sex life after all, but the frown on his face hinted soemthing more..

"Another time.." She agreed, but now she was a bit worried. She liked her fun, and Adian was fun, but.. "Does Reiha know we're sleeping together?" SHe ventured the question.

Flamefire123
"Ah." Reiha said, at first dispationately, then realized the guilt in Berial's voice. Then she smiled and looked over at the young boy before giving him a hug, "I'm sure he doesn't mind, you know how forgiving Erik is, he'll just have to get a new one." Reiha steped back again now, and grabed the book, ready to start the spell.

Adain binked, then blushed and looked sheepish as she watched him, "well...not exactly." he admited, "You see I know that telling her straight out would just start a fight and well...you know, I bet she knows by now, she's a smart kid and everything I just didn't see a reason to...tell...her." Adian trailed off at how bad that sounded so he just tried his charming grin again.

Jizzy Jazz
Berial nodded. Erik had forgiven him quickly, not that he still didn't feel a bit bad about it though. Openign his mouth to ask Rieha how much a new wqand might cost, he shut it as he saw her get ready.. "Should we get furhter back?" He asked.. Experience with the spells Erik ahd shown him told him the further you were the better. Erik's eyebrows could vouch for that.

Chel regarded him for a moment with a condescneding sort of frown on ehr face. If Reiha really freaked out that much, there was probably a reason.. Abuse was the first that screamed at her, from before the train. (Erik ahd explained the train and the oddness Berial displayed soemtimes, of how he didn't remember..)

"Alright.. " She said, easing into a smile.. " But if she mentions anything about it, I'd like to know.. I don't want to upset her." She said simply.. If she did know and said nothing, it must not bother her THAT much that she needed to stop seeing Adain (She did not want to stop seeign Adain). She'd jsut remember to keep it low key around the kids..

Flamefire123
"Naw, I think it will be fine." Reiha asured him, then started to recite the spell carefully. Since her first misshape she repeated each word ten times without mistakes before she would ever try a spell. She wouldn't risk messing up like that again.

Adain relaxed a little, "Chel, certain people breathing upsets her. Don't run your life on a child's whims. Reiha, for all her smarts and bad additude, is still a child, my child and I'm not going to stop having sex just to appease her. Besides, she needs to understand that sex is a healthy, even average thing to do. Especailly if she wants children some day." Adain finnished with a wise little nod. He was smart now and then.

Jizzy Jazz
Berial stayed back cautiously, a bit paranoid when it came to magic, but that came with the turf. I mena, Erik was his guardian.. He wanted to tell ehr to be cautious, but as she started reciting he stayed quiet not wanting to break her focus..

Chel looked at his with surprise for a moment before laughing and kissing him lightly. " You're brilliant sometimes, you know that." She said smiling. He was right, and for now, Chel was content with this reasoning.. If problems arose with Reiha, sure , she'd rethink her strategy, but this worked for her.

Flamefire123
Reiha recited, feeling the power rise with in her, with in her soul, pulling on it, tugging it upwards, almost wanting to rip it out for the magic, but it wasn't near strong enough to even scare Reiha. She concentrated, holding tight to her soul, to her mind and to her heart. She loose none to magic. The power grew though, it spread though her hand and found now way to focus it to the circle center and the feather when....

BOOM

Adain grined at the praise, and the kiss, as he opened his mouth to say something else. Proably a quip about another kiss or something when the large boom shook the entire house. For a moment Adian went pale and true fear flashed across his face and he turned to race up stairs.

Jizzy Jazz
Berial had watched carefully. She seemed so focused, he was sure it would go right, but when the boom came he did the first thing that came to him. He leapt towards Reiha to try and cover from anything that could stem from the blast. He had promised to defend her.

Chel almsot jumped at the boom and at Adianºs fearful expression, she realized where the boom ahd originited and why it was so close.. Erik ahd told ehr he was teaching Reiha magic, but.. "The kids!" She said with fearful realization, leaping to ehr feet and tearing after Adian.

Flamefire123
Reiha was thrown back into Berial's caring lunge, so she got slamed into the floor with a kid on top of here blocking off half her air supply, with love. She understood Berial's attack, and even found it sweet even as she gasped for more air.

Adain decided that time to burst in. He looked over the scene, then rushed to the kids. He pulled Berial off of Reiha and helped her up before checking all over her.

"Are you okay? Are you hurt?"

Reiha shoved adain off and took a few steps back, "Of course I'm fine Adain. Don't crowd." she ordered easily before turning away from the man with a flip of the hair.

For a moment Adian only stared, Reiha hadn't acted like that in months. Then he frowned, he wouldn't accept it now.

Hey!" he yelled suddenly, grabing her arm. "Hey! You don't talk to me like that! You hear me? You did something dangerous. Something that I didn't say you could do and when I actually give a <********> about you, you get pissed! No!" Adain turned her around and poked her chest. "No! You want to be a b***h? Fine! But you will not treat me like s**t just to suit some werid personal problem. I love you! Deal with it!" Adain threw her back a little and stood up before turning to storm out.

Jizzy Jazz
Berial felt Adain lift him up and he watched intently s Adian checked Reiha for injuries. Seeing as Adian found non, and he didn´t see any either, he relaxed slightly.

When Reiha snapped at Adian though, he frowned deeply. Adian wsa jsut lookign after her. He would have done the same thing, but Adian had beat him to it. He started rubbing his blighted arm incomfortably as he frowned.

And then Adian yelled.

Berial flinched at the first shout. It had taken hi by surprise. His mark started to move a bit as he listened to Adian rant. He was right, he supposed. Adian had a right to care. He was Reiha´s Mu afterall. He rubbed at his arm some more.. "Reiha.." He whispered softly after Adian started to storm out. Mostly jsut to get her attention ebfore he asked the questions he wanted to ask.

Chel jsut stood by the doorway quietly, letting Adian blow offf some steam.. She said nothing, it was her place. Her eyes traveled to Berial and her eyebrows raised.. Were the marks on his arm moving?

Flamefire123
Reiha stared as Adain just ran off. Her hand went to her arm that was grabed and she rubbed it slowly, almost carefully as she loked over to Berail, who looked upset again.

"It's okay Berial." she whispered, looking back to the door, then back to the kid, "I...was just wrong." she muttered. That was the first time that she ever admited that but...it was true. After all she shouldn't have done that, she was just mad that her spell didn't work.

"I geuss I should apologize." Reiha said meekly, looking from pair of eyes to pair of eyes. She saw that Korbin was fluttering over head. Slowly she opened her arms to him. He landed and nuzzled her lovingly.

"I'm okay Korbin." Reiha asured him, stroking him lovingly as she headed to the door.

Adain was downstairs, he paced, muttering thing under his breath. He really wanted a beer, but he didn't have any in the house anymore because of Reiha. And did she ever thank her? No. She didn't give a flying ******** about him, or everything he did for her. Like driving her to Berial's all the time and feeding her and everything.

Little b***h.

Jizzy Jazz
Berial nodded as she said that she should go apologize. She should apologize. Adian was just looking out for her afterall. "I´m.. wait here.." He said. He didn´t want to meddle.

Not to emntion, hsi arm was still bothering him ands he was turned stratgically away from Reiha so she wouldn´t see it..

Chel did nothing. She barely knew the girl and had no place in this argument. She´d probably make things worse, if she thought hard about it.. Leaving the doorway she went o Berial in silence, not wishing to upset the already delicate situation.. They would wait here..

Flamefire123
Reiha walked slowly down the stairs, looking at Adain walking around in the dining room. Reiha paused and looked down to Korbin, murrming to him. He murrmed back and nuzzled her again. He of course was against her apologizing, she had the right to be anoyed at being babyed he thought. Of course though Korbin thought Reiha could do nothing wrong

And Reiha knew she could, so she took a deep sigh, holding Korbin tighter and swallowed her pride. She walked slowly downstairs to Adain, who stoped to give her a glare. Reiha took a deep breath and slowly spoke two words she never said before. At least not to Adain.

"I'm sorry."

Adain stared at the little girl, standing there so straight with her crow in hand, then he sighed. He was far to violent with the girl, especailly for one he suspected was abused, he just lost it.

"Look Reiha, I'm sick of this." Adian muttered, sitting down in front of her, "I'm sick of you treating me like this. Look, I try hard for you. Really hard. I've told you before how much my life has changed because of you, and how I wouldn't change it back for the world but I need help. I'm a man Reiha. A normal, human man, I can't live up to all your expectations. I wont ever be Berial, or Erik, I can't and I just wont. I've accepted you. With your bitchy additude and cold shoulder and unreasonable demands. And I love you for it. I'm not asking for love, or even trust, just acceptence. I'm a man. I'm going to drink, but not around you. I'm gonna have sex, when you're not here, and I'm going to worry about you whether you like it or not. So accept it, and accept me. That's all I want."

Reiha looked down at Korbin, not saying anything though Adain's speach, just listening, listening closely, even intently. She heard his wants and found them acceptable, even understandable. It was just....

"I don't know if I can." Reiha muttered, "I don't like being cared for, it makes me feel weak. I don't like people drinking, it makes me feel scared, and I don't like sex it makes me feel dirty. Why should I tolerate all this?"

"Because drinking, and caring and sex are part of life!" Adain said, exprassed. "I'm not asking you to have sex or drink. In fact I suggest you sustain from both activites for as long as possible, just for my own sanity but you let Berial care for you. Does he make you feel weak?"

"No..."

"Well, what's the difference?"

"I'm stronger than him." That was it, Adain realized, that was the problem. Reiha was weaker than him and she hated being reminded that Adain could make things better. If she let him. He sighed and pulled her intoa hug, not leting her get away from the gentle but firm grip.

"Reiha, it's not weak to need help. It's weak to expect it and it's weak to refuse it. I wont hurt you by caring for you. Leaning on me wont make you fall. Please, Reiha, trust me. I've never once hurt you. I've never once let you down. I've never once done anything wrong to you. Why am I so evil?"

"Because you're like him."

"Like who?"

"I don't know!" Reiha broke free of the hug, tears in her eyes as she turned to run away. Adain would have followed but Korbin screatched and started to attack the man, keeping him from following Reiha, or even seeing where she went.

Jizzy Jazz
Chel was litening carefully to any noises from below and as the fight escalate she frowned deeper and deeper.. Giving Berial a brief hug, she stood up to hear better..

"I don´t know!" The scream, followed by running could be heard clearly.. Reiha had dashed.. Frowning she turned to Berial.. "Stay here a bit.. Reiha might try to find you.." She said, the boy nodded.

Moving cautiously downstairs she peeked to where she heard noise only to see Adian being attacked by a crow (didn´t Reiha have a crow with her?)

"Hey. SHOO!" Chel shouted, moving closer and batting her arms at Korbin to get him away from Adian.

Flamefire123
Korbin left after a few swats from Chel and flew out the window. He flew quickly to see Reiha crying and haulted a little. He wasn't use to seeing her cry. He started to flutter down and nudge her but she didn't seem to react. Korbin sighed a little and flew up again. He was going to get Berial.

Adain just sighed when Korbin left, he turned to grab a paper towel and started to clean the new scratched on his face. This also hadn't happened in months. he thought he was making progress. he thought he was helping. He thought he was doing this job right.

"I don't think I'm a good father Chel." Adain whispered, setting the paper down. He didn't think it was werid he just was unloading this on chel. She was there, and he needed someone, and...she was there. She was just there. Adain always thought that when a person was special they were just there when needed. Not because they were asked or expected but they were just there. And Chel was.

Jizzy Jazz
Berial was fidgeting upstairs.. His mark was moving freely now as worry filled him. Why had Reiha been shouting? Sniffling and fighting back tears of worry he stood and went to the window.. Peering out he spotted Korbin in the darkness and cracked the window open. "Korbin!"

"You are a good father.." Chel said assuredly, moving over to him and takin ghte paper towel from him, grasping his chin and cleaning the wounds on his face a bit more thouroughly than he had.. "Things are jsut harder for you.. You didn´t have a nine-month warning.. Reiha just came to you, and you´ve been doing a great job.." She said with confidence..

"These..." She strained for a moment, trying to remember the name.. " the passengers." SHe said, finally recalling what Erik called them. "There´s more to them than normal kids.. Both Berial and Reiha have at least 5 years that we can´t account for.. But you've been doing your best to help her.. And I think, that if you're patient, your best will definatly be enough to get through to her.."

Flamefire123
Korbin fluttered by the door, then jerked once. To show Berial that he wanted him to follow him. He wished desperately that other humans could understand him but knew it wouldn't be so. So he just had to hope that Berial was smart and would understand to follow him.

Adain was forced to look as her as he cleaned his face and he just just looked deep into her eyes. She meant it, he realized. She meant every single word. Adain gave a soft smile, then hugged her close suddenly.

"Thanks Chel, I needed to hear that. It's just...just hard. Reiha acts so...so old, and I don't know how to help her, how to make her trust me enough be able to make a difference in her life. I want to help, so very much I want to help but...what can I do? She wont even trust me. I'm too much like him."

Jizzy Jazz
Berial, luckily, did understand and left the room, going downstairs, past the adults and outside following Korbin´s dark silloutte to where Reiha was sitting crying..

And the sight of her was his undoing.. His left arm gave a sort of twitch as the blight went wild with the sadness that filled Berial. Reiha was strong. Reiha was smart.. What.. what had hurt her so much that she was crying? Coming up to her, he wrapped her up in his arms, ignoring the discomfort that was creeping into him from his left arm.. "I'm here, Rei.." He said, sniffling a bit, feeling liek crying himself..

Chel smiled a bit in response to his smile and she hugged him close as he did.. It must be so hard for him..

"I can't say that I have all the answers, Adian.. But you aren't the person who hurt her.. and I think she's starting to realize that.. She apologized didn't she? It's jsut hard.. Wounds, especially the emotional kind, take a long time to heal.." She said, brushing her fingers through Adian's hair in attempt to comfort him.

"I know it might not be the same situation, but.. back when Erik came to live with my family after.." She paused.. Did he know? "the accident.. Erik wasn't quite the same. He was afraid of being hurt.. He still is. He still acts way older than he is.. He felt like he didn't have anyone to take care of him anymore, but he did.. He had me and my parents, jsut like Reiha has you.."

Flamefire123
Reiha turned and hugged Berial to her tight. She had nothing to say, nothing was wrong. She couldn't say why she was crying when nothing was honestly wrong, she just needed to. Adain touched some place that she didn't want to be touched a place she kept safe by being strong, immortal, impossible to touch.

Yes she was close to Berail, but she helped him, not the other way around. that was the way she liked it. that's the way she surived. While Adain was trying so hard to break her barriers, it was Berail who got to hold her when she needed to be held.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Nothings wrong, I don't know why I'm crying." Reiha sobbed.

Adain was silent, still holding her to him tight as he rested his head against her shoulder, letting himself be held. When was the last time he held any woman like this? Any woman but his sister. Never...one never was around when he needed to hold somebody.

Truth be told he hadn't needed to be held for a very long time. Reiha did this to him. She made him feel like crap, and change his entire life, and made him try to care for someone again. Didn't his first girlfriend teach him anything?

Caring for women only got you hurt.

Jizzy Jazz
Berial held her tightly though.. Something was wrong.. Soemthing was wrong and it was making his heart clench and his arm hurt and it made Reiha cry.. Of course, something was wrong..

"It's okies.." He told her softly, fighting not to cry himself and failing.. The discomfort in his arm had upgraded a prickling apin, but he held fast to her.. "It's okies if something is wrong.. It's okies to cry.." He sniffled, tears now running down his own cheeks..

Chel just held him for a while.. Everyone had thier damage and it hurt to go things on alone.. So she held him.. Just to hold him. To show him that she was here for him.. A while back, after the countless bad relationships she had she had sworn off caring about men.. Erik was an exception, he was her cosuin, but Adian was the first man in a long time she genuinely cared about..

"It's alright.. I'll stay as long as you want me too.." She said softly as she held him. She wanted him to know, that if he needed her.. She'd be here.

Flamefire123
Berial was so sweet, and so kind to her. He didn't make demands, he didn't expect anything from her, didn't want anything from her. Just...what she was willing to give. He only wanted her happy and to be with him. He was...the best thing in her life.

"I just don't want to remember." she told him, "but Adain pushes for me to get closer to him and the memories come back. I don't know what, I don't know who and I don't know when and I don't want to know! I just want to stay like this, with you. Happy, free. I must have left for a reason right? I had to leave for a reason."

Adain knew the offer was limited. It only meant tonight, it only was temporary. Peoople didn't promise forever to a guy like him. He wasn't marriage material. No one expected him to be a husband, or a father. Why would he be good at that? he was just another kid to take care of.

But god...it felt like forever when Chel spoke it. It sounded like she'd just stay, everyday, in his little house if that's what he wanted. And for a moment...he did. He did want her to never leave.

And that's why he steped back.

"Thanks Chel, I needed to hear that." Adain smiled, then looked outside. "I think...I think I'll just let Reiha come in when she's ready, she must have Korbin with her and proably Berial too. Let's just...plan Erik's party...okay?"

Adain was steping back, from her, from Reiha, from everyone, steping back into himself.

He couldn't have forever. So he wouldn't ask.

Jizzy Jazz
Berial rubbed her back with his good arm, the way Erik did whenever he fell asleep on the couch.. His left arm twitched again as the prickling got worse.. She had left for a reason, they both had.. Reiha remember more than he did, but they both left..

"We're not in bad places anymore.." He said.. "I.. we were.." and he was sure of this. How didn't know, but he was sure. "but we're here now.. and I stay with you forever.." He said.. And he meant it. He promised her forever.. and then he thought of Adian..

"I not your Mu' though.. He doesn' mean to make you remember.. He don't liek ti either.."

Chel was almsot sad to feel him pull away, because, right then.. SHe had meant it.. If he needed her, she would do asll she could to be there for him.. She wasn't sure why, but she would.. She didn't tell him that though.. Neither of them needed forever at the moment.. They needed now..

"Maybe leave the door open.." She offered. So Reiha would know he wasn't mad or kicking her out or any other concluions her midn could leap to..

She smiled at him and nodded at his suggestion.. "and Scruffy.. Scruffy needs love too.." She said, letting him change the subject..

Flamefire123
Reiha remembered feels, ideas, already fleeting when ever she tried to get something concrette. She didn't like remembering feelings, especially the ones she got to remember. Fear, disgust, pain. She never remembered anything remotely good or calm.

Reiha snifted, but her tears were slowing as she heard what Berial say and she nodded. She knew that, even got it but she couldn't seem to push past her own feelings to reach out to him, and a large part of her just didn't want too. Why should she do something that made her...almost miserable when it was easy and safe to remain as she was.

No, it wasn't fair to Adain but...why did she have to be fair? She didn't ask for him to take care of her. She never demanded that Adain be the one to watch over her. Fate shoved them together. It was Adain who got himself hurt by keep on asking for more, demanding more. Why should he care? She wasn't really his.

"Yeah...yeah." Adain agreed, walking over to the door to make sure it stayed open. He stood there for a moment, just looking into the dark, trying to see her even though he knew he wouldn't. For once his thoughts were mirrioring hers. Why should he care? She wasn't really his. She was just someone thrown into his life, maybe he should start acting that way....

But...Erik had Berial thrown into his life and look how they acted. Adain sighed. He couldn't give up. Not because of him, but because of Reiha. Berial could only do so much for her and Adain will be there for her. He promised himself that. This wasn't his first girlfriend, this wasn't just some chick. This was a child, one with an abused past, one who would get his help whether she liked it not.

"Yeah, Scruffy needs love too." Adain turned and gave Chel a slight smile. He was getting better. "So what sort of cake do they like?"

Jizzy Jazz
Berial couldn't hold on anymore.. A sharp prickly feeling shot up his arm and he leapt back from the suprise of it and rubbed at, as if to will the pain away.. Sniffling, he made no comment and looked at her.. "do you want to go back home?" He asked, the question said quietly, and ina failed attempt to mask the continuous prickling coming from the writhing blight.. Was Adian home?

Chel smiled back a bit, heading into the living room and dropping down onto a couch.. All that emotional talk could really drain a person. "Carrot cake.." She said.. "Well at least that's Erik's, but I ran a few tests and so far they like and dislike the same kinds of food."

Flamefire123
Reiha pulled back as her tears stoped and she nodded. She reached over to stroke Berial's hair, knowing he was getting worried and upset over her. She glanced at his arm and worried ehrself. negtive emtions seemed to feed that...thing. She hugged Berial again then pulled back.

"Yeah, let's go back." Reiha murrmed, standing up. she didn't call the house home, as far as she was concerned, it wasn't. She didn't know where her home was, but she'd find it some day.

"Well they are the same person." Adain thought as he searched though the kitchen. He wasn't something unhealthy and tooth rotting. He found some chips and soda and thought it would have to do. "Carot it is. Also we need presents, one for each I suppose."

Jizzy Jazz
Berial sniffed and nodded, holding his arm gingerly as the prickling slowed.. Looking at her, he stood. "M..thirsty.." He said suddenly. All that crying had dried him out, not to mention he just.. didn't feel well. He didn't feel well at all..

Chel nodded. It was an odd thing to remmeber. Sometimes, she though they were long lsot twins.. It jsut seemed an easier concept to grasp than them being the same person. "Erik needs a new wand, I know that much.. Berial, the poor dear, sat on it.." She siad, chuckling slightly and smiling as he brought out some light snacks. "But Scruffy is tougher.. I.. from what I've learned so far he's not interested in magic at all.. But I've seen him around the house with some or Erik's smaller machine.. I think he was a mechanic.."

Flamefire123
"We'll get you something to drink." Reiha promised as their roles became comfortable again. Reiha caring for Berial as she walked with him back to the house. She had an arm around him and leaned against him, trying to get him in a good mood again. "When we get back, would you like to draw?"

Adain mused as he thought over ideas. "Well, I suppose...I could get ERik a wand. Reiha will proably need one soon anyway." Adain admited, "She's determained to learn magic. I could get Scruffy a sucky car." Adain mused, "You know, something he could tinker with."

Jizzy Jazz
Berial sniffled allowing Reiha to get close.. These roles were more comfortable for him as well. The pain was subsiding, but the discomfort. The looming, impenting feeling of wrong stuck to him.. He shook his head. He did not want to color. Whenver he felt off, he would draw horrible things.. Black and red..

"do you have any movies.." He asked softly.

Chel reached over, grabbing some chips and nodding.. "I actually think that would be a great gift for Scruffy.. I could get him some proper tools.. Erik's equipment is mostly magical.." She though, her mind calculating.. She had her work face on, her eyes focused int he distance (or ussually ona whiteboard) and she thought hard and fast.. "Yes.. I think those would be the perfect gifts.."

Flamefire123
Reiha opened her mouth, then frowned. She didn't know if they had movies. She never watched any. So she shrugged and held him tighter. "I don't know but we'll find something to do." she promised, then tickled his sides a little while nuzzling his neck. She just needed to get him in a better mood.

Adain streatched out as he relaxed, "I'll ask around my friends, see if they know anyone selling a car that needs work. I bet he'll like it a lot." He liked the idea and smiled a little. "I geuss Reiha can just take credit with my gifts unless she wants to get her own but Berial will want to get his own proably. For Erik at least. I don't know how he feels about Scruffy."

Jizzy Jazz
He sniffled and bit his lip as she nuzzled him.. She wsa tring so ahrd, but it felt liek something heavy and dreadful had clenthed his heart and wouldn't go away.. "my arm hurt.." He said, as the prickling gave a short lived returned..

"Berial already said he knew what he was getting them.. I think he's going to draw them pictures or soemthing of the sort.. He likes crafts.." She said smiling and leaning back next to Adian..

Flamefire123
Reiha smiled and hugged him closer. "It will pass Berial. If you remember that you're not alone and that people love you it will always pass." she promised him reaching up to stroke his hair, knowing he didn't like his arm touched.

Adain smiled, "Yeah Berial will come up with a cute gift for him." Adain agreed.

"Reiha, be careful with that." Adain lectured as he finnished tieing the edge the big "Happy Birthday" banner. He climbed down the two steps he needed to finnish the banner. the small intimate party looked almost childishly simple but he thought Erik at least would like it. Adain was unsure if Scruffy would like anything. Turning Adain frowned and strode up to behind Reiha.

"Hey, hey, remember, let me light the candles. It's too dangerous for you." he told her, grabing the last of the candles away from his girl anyway and started to put in the last of the candles before grabing a match. Adain had taken a big emtional step back, from Reiha, and from Chel, but he was acting more and more like a father to Reiha.

And Reiha hated it. She had no freedom. Adain treated Korbin like a mere pet, and watched over her like a hawk. He forced her to go to bed at a certain time each night, buged her to eat three meals a day, wouldn't let her out of his sight for too long and Reiha was slowly going mad.

She thought Adain was bad before but now he was just driving her nuts. He wouldn't let her do anything, unless he was breathing down her neck and it was stupid. Her magic had all but haulted, and she found she sepnd a lot of time just sitting because it seemed to be the only thing that adain would let her do. She wanted this to stop.

Jizzy Jazz
"I don´t see why we all needed to go out and get clothes.. I have some perfectly good ones still in my closet!" Erik complained as he opened the front door. Chel just laughed.. "You needed the new clothes. Everything you have is too formal." She scolded, speaking laudly to announce thier presence to Adian and Reiha inside.

"Hgsjaflh"Which meant, "Pinky's right.." Only Scurfy couldn't mouth it because of the cookie that Berial ahd given him that had been in his mouth.

Berial ahd been pleased with the shopping. He'd gotten soem tnice things too, and the aldies at the bakery ahd given him cookies, which he'd made sure to share with the birthdya boy. Scurfying into the house faster than the adults he smiled at the decorations and waved silently to Reiha and Adian.

Flamefire123
"Okay Reiha." Adain ordered, "You hide right there, okay? We'll call out surpise when they closer." Adain turned to glance inside and gestured for Berial to get closer to them, waiting the birthday boys to get closer before he called out surpise.

"I know!" Reiha sighed and rolled her eyes. She ducked down to hide but she was grumbling and glaring. She use to kinda like Adain but now she could barely stand to hear his voice. He enver seemed to say something nice, or just comment anymore. It was all orders.

Jizzy Jazz
Berial scurried toward Rieha to hide with her, beaming and practically leaping with exitement (or perhaps that was the sugar high).

"But really I.." Erik froze as he turned the corner and gaped at the banner as Chel yelled. "SURPRISE! Scruffy turned the corner as well, but after surprise flitted past his eyes, they seemed to steel over.. A birthdya party for Erik.. He turned around, leaving the bags ina corner and started to stalk off. He wasn't needed..

Flamefire123
"Happy Birthday Erik and Scruffy!" Adain called out when he saw Scruffy start to walk away. He knew what flirted though his mind and Adain wouldn't have it. He got the big smile and walked over to both now offical men and hugged them tightly one at a time. Adain was one of the few straight men who could give hugs without the back slap.

Reiha smiled at Berial, feeling some of her tension just drain as she hugged him close. She took a few deep breaths, to control her anger, before she jumped out to yell "SURPISE" with everyone else.

Jizzy Jazz
Erik smiled wekaly and returned the hug, but Scruffy went stiff as board as Adian hugged him and he jsut seemed to stare up at the happy birthday banner..

"Did you plan this, CHel?" Erik asked, recieving a nod from the girl.. "Adian and the kids helped. I jsut suplied the date really.. and the cake.. It's your favorite?"She said produly.

Scruffy finally spoke ocne Adian had let him go, he was still semingly ina state of shock, hdiing his expression behind his dark glasses.. "carrot?" And he looked ready to fall down as Chel nodded a yes..

Scruffy ahdn't had a birthday aprty since.. since his parents died.

Berial hugged ehr tightly too, exited with the surprise before turning to Reiha. "How you, Reiha?" He asked.. She had held him a bit.. too tight, but he wouldn't say.

Flamefire123
Adain smiled at them, he didn't expect Scruffy to respond to the hug, that wasn't the point of the hug, the point was to stop him from running away from his own birthday party and start going to mope somewhere about no one loving him or some werid emo thing.

"Yeah, we got you guys present thoughs." Adain said as he moved over to the cake. "You guys are lucky though, get to blow out your candles together, better chance of your wish comming true." He let out a grin even as he glanced oer to Reiha for a second.

She was little looking pissed, but what could he do?

"Not great." Reiha admited, "Adain wont just let me be. I bet he tells me to be careful about breathing soon." she griped as she watched the adults mingle. "He's so frekaing anoying. I hate him now."

Jizzy Jazz
Erik was smiling and nodding.. He had been so busy, with Berial and his work and everything. He had forgotten his own birthday. Chel dashed away to the kitchen to get the cake so she missed the stunned look Scruffy got at the mention of presents..

"Presents?" He choked out.. It was a big deal for him.. He had lost everything that night.. His home, his childhood, his family.. and now.. now he felt like.. like he was getting a second chance at.. life..

Berial frowned at Reiha's words.. She shouldn't hate.. Hate ate you up inside... "..has you asked him for some space?" He offered. Maybe all she ahd to do was ask rationally.

Flamefire123
Adain grined at the boy who seemed so shocked and for a moment Adain realized how lonely he was. adain missed that in worring over Reiha and her reaction to him to realize that the tough guy thing was just an act. Adain was normally good at figuring out acts but he been too busy trying to figure out Reiha's act.

Well he supposed it was a good excuse, a kid. Still Adain smiled at Scruffy and slipped his hands into his jeans. He just needed to open up a little, take a chance. This group of people wouldn't let him down. Adain glanced bakc at Reiha again, seeing her complainging to Berial and his smile faded. He could only hope this plan worked out.

"I know!" Reiha snapped angerily at the boy before pulling back, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." she apologized quickly. "I shouldn't take it out on you. But just because I am a kid doesn't mean I like being treated like one. I'm not a normal kid. I'm smart, smarter than him, but he thinks he knows everything. I know things that would make him piss his pants, the smug, arrogent, p***y footed jerk."

Jizzy Jazz
Scruffy padded quietly to Erik's side, looking at his twin hesitantly. Erik just smiled.. He understood a bit more. Scruffy ahd lost it all.. Erik placed his hand on Scruffy's shoulder.. "don't forget to make a wish.." He said..

Beiral visibly flinched as Reiha shouted at him, obviously hurt, but he nodded anyways in agreement to her.. "..m sorry.. I.. he.." He spoke lightly, not wanting Reiha to snap at him.. His arm itched again.. It kept taking less and less to set it off too..

Luckyly for Berial, he didn't have to continue talking as Chel looked over.. "Hey kids! Time to sing Happy Birthday!"

Flamefire123
Reiha moved closer to Berial and hugged him again, this time lovingly. "I'm sorry I yelled, I'm not mad at you." she whispered to him in her hug, then pulled back to give him a smile.

Adain watched and couldn't help but muse at how much of a couple they looked like. He felt a little werid thinking about Reiha dating, part of him didn't think it happen, with her additude but then again it was an additude when she didn't had hormones, if she did and Berial was around....Adain shooked his head and decided to cross that bridge when he came to it. Instead he turned for the song.

"Come on, let's go." Reiha said, taking Berial's hand as she walked with him over to the boys, and started to sing. She knew the song, kinda werid considering this was the first birthday she ever attented.

Jizzy Jazz
Berial, on the other hand, didn't.. He fumbled over the words, looking to Reiha and following along as they sang as best he could.

As the song drew toa close Erik bent down braced to blwo out the candles, but Scruffy didn't.. Erik looked up and grapped his twin and eased him down. "come on.." He edged him on.. Scruffy just looked at him incredulously and Erik jsut smiled..

Turning, they both blew out the candles..

Flamefire123
Adain cheered as they blew it out and reached to grab the knife to cut the cake when Reiha reached out.

"I want to cut the cake." she said randomly. Something about seeing that knife sparked a want to use it. She hadn't seen a real knife or dagger since she arived on Gaia, only a sword which is no where near the same. Seeing even the long cutting knife though. Reiha wanted to use it.

"Now Reiha, it's too dangerous-"

"I can use a knife Adain." Reiha groweled, "Let me use it. I need too." Reiha reached for the handle, placing her tiny hand over Adain's long fingered one.

Adain stared at the little girl, then let his hand pull back so she could cut the cake. Reiha didn't use the wod need alot. She rarely said she wanted anything ether, but if she said need she normally meant need. Besides, she was kind of asking permision.

Jizzy Jazz
"Be careful.." Berial warned. He didn't quite like the knife. He didn't want Reiha to get hurt..

Erik just watched as Reiha cut and looked over at Scruffy.. "You want to open our gifts?" He asked.. Scruffy looked over to the pile and nodded silently.. Erik smiled.. He didn't often take the lead, but Scruffy needed him, so he led him over to the pile of gifts.. Picking up one that was labeled to him from Adian he hadned it to the boy..

Scruffy took the small box into his hands, looking down at it.. For a moment he jsut stood there, before his hadn tightened around the box and he heaved a loud sob.. Tears streamed from behind his glasses as he gripped the table to keep himself up..

Flamefire123
Reiha cut carefully and with a certian...grace. She kept her hands clear from the blade as her cuts were equal and of good size protions, nether too big, nor too small, and she was sure to cut the letters just right so some one could get some letters on their peiece. She was just putting the knife down when scruffy let out the sob and she looked up, but didn't move. She wasn't sure what she was suppose to do.

Adain stared at Reiha intently as she used the knife, scared of what could happen. He almost stole it from her three times but he was trying to prove that he could trust her, wanting to prove that it was okay to trust him, but got it was hard.

when Scruffy broke out crying the tall man literatly jumped, turning around to try to find out who was crying but then he stood there awkwardly. though Adain felt tempted to help he wasn't sure what he could do.

Jizzy Jazz
Berial jumped at Scruffy's sob and turned from Reiha's cake cutting.. He stared at Scruffy for a moment, then looked around.. Both Erik and Chel seemed frozen along with everyone else.. They had obviously not expected this reaction..

Giving Reiha a soft smile, as if to tell ehr that he was only leaving her sdie for a moment, he reached across the table. Then rushing over to Scruffy, he tugged at his sleeve, holding the napkin up for Scruffy..

Scruffy looked down at the tug and coudln't help the smile that creased his face.. It wasn't a hesitant, or even a shy smile like Erik had, but wide and bright and childish.. "Thanks kid.."

Chel glanced at Erik and then at Adian and smiled.. "Do you want some cake, guys? Erik and Scruffy both nodded..

Flamefire123
Reiha smiled slightly in return to Berial's silent message as she accepted it and understood. He was so sweet, so loving, so giving. Oh sure to most people the simple offering of a napkin was nothing but...well Reiha knew what Scruffy must feel, someone care about him, enjoy to worry and fret when he cried, enough to throw him a birthday party, enough to pick out gifts.

"Happy Birthday Erik." Reiha said, adressing both men as she held up peieces of cake that she cut on cheerful little plates, she even gave them a warm smile that seemed older than the girl.

Adain was glad when Scruffy smiled and stoped him from feeling that things would be okay. He glanced at Reiha and couldn't help but smile. She may be a brat but deep down he knew that she had a good caring heart. Too bad it was covered with a cold suspious soul.

Adain sighed a little and realized he had nothing to do. "Then presents!" he spoke up quickly.

Jizzy Jazz
Beiral smiled up at the twins before turning to Reiha who had the cakes.. "Can I have cake too?" He asked eagerly, seeing as the tiwns got thier cake.

"Sure.." Erik responded, taking the cake and taking a big bite with the fork.. Scruffy took his cake too, nodding to Reiha, looking down at the bow in his hand, before setting it back ont he table to be able to eat his cake.. "and then presents.."

"Cake, Adian?" She asked, moving to the table to get slices as well, smiling at Adian.

Flamefire123
Reiha laughed and after the twins took their plates she grabed one she cut for Berial, it had a little decoration on it that she thought he'd like. She persented it to him with a smile.

"Of course Berial, I cut this one just for you."

Adain's hawk like watching of Reiha was distracted when Chel spoke to Adain. He gave her an absent grin and nodded.

"Sure, babe, sounds great." he said, reaching up to grab his plate and leaned in to give her an absent kiss. Their realtionship was still undefined but Adain definately wasn't getting closer emtionally to her, infact he was taking several steps back.

Jizzy Jazz
Berial grinned as he took the cake and starred at it for a moment before grinning broadly. "Thankies!" He decalared and dug in without hesitation. "Is good. You're gonna have some to, right Reiha?"

Chel smiled as she picked up a slice for herself.. She ahdn't exactly noticed his distance, because, frankly, she wasn't looking.. She wasn't looking for anything serious and if they didn't put a name to what they had, it just made things easier for the time being.. "..this is a great cake.." She said, smiling broadly.

She ahd made the cake afterall..

Flamefire123
"Of course Berial, just wanted to give you yours first." she replied simply and took a peiece for herself and started to eat. She looked up at Chel as she commented and said perhaps the first words that Reiha spoke directly to Chel, "It is good.'

"It's great." Adain agreed as his eyes returned to Reiha, sitting so relaxed, chatting away with Berial. She looked...like her age. Suddenly Adain wanted to give Reiha a birthday party too. Something, anything, to make her look her age.

Jizzy Jazz
Chel looked down at Reiha for a moment, before grinning broadly.. "I can give you the recipe, if you like.." She offered.. Baking a cake was something fun and msotly low risk for kids.. The only real danger lay in the oven..

Erik and Scruffy shared glanced as they ate thier cake.. Scruffy was still holding back tears and he finsihed off his cake slowly, placing it down.. "so.. I.. can I.. open it?" He asked Adian, taking the small box into his hands again.

Flamefire123
Reiha shook her head but gave a small smile, "I got Erik skills in the kitchen." she explained softly. She didn't know how she knew that , Adain always took care of the food but she just knew she couldn't cook, everytime she entered a kitchen it became obvious to her, which was odd since she was such a smart litle girl one would think she could do it.

Adain's attention were distracted again as he turned to talk to Scruffy, giving the now man an easy grin and nodded, "Of course, it's your present. I just hope you like it."

Jizzy Jazz
Chel couldn't help but laugh. Noone could be worse than Erik in the kitchen. "Alright.. Though I can't imagine it being that horrible.. Erik can't even make a sandwhich.."

"I can too!" Erik exclaimed indignatly..

Berial was smiling down at his cake and shook his head.. "Scruffy cooks better.. Mu's sandwhiches taste.. crispy.."

Scruffy chuckled lighly, but his attention was still on the box.. Unwrapping it slowly, careful not to rip the wrapping paper.. He pocketed the paper.. Opening the small box, he gasped, pulling out the key.. "w..what?" He asked, looking up at Adian.

Flamefire123
Reiha smiled a little and giggled, "I can make a sandwhich, and anything that can be microwaved, it's just the oven and stove that doesn't like me." she admited, then shrugged a little as she turned her attention to Scruffy who was opening up his gift from adain. reiha got gifts for them too. She drew pictures for each guy, and hoped that her drawings were allright, they were just the images that came to mind when she thought of them.

Adain just grined when Scruffy pulled out the keys, looking proud of himself. "Chel said you use to be a mechanic. Now I dunno if it was just right but I got you nasty old car that I thought you could work on while Erik is stuf with all his studies. It must get boring you sitting in the house all day stuck with daycare duty." he mentioned, "It's was a buddy's of mine so i got it for a good price." Adain nodded, still a few hundrad was normally more than one spent on a gift for a friend of a friend.

Jizzy Jazz
"A car?" Scruffy looked about to choke. He gripped the keys tightly in his hand.. Chel walked over to him placing a hand on his choulder.. "It's in the garage.. My gift is inside.. I thought you'd need tools.."

Scruff shuddered and gripped the keys tighter as he started to cry silently.. It was.. so much more than he could have ever asked for..

Berial looked over at him again and padded over.. "Scruffy.. do.. don't you like the p'sent?" He looked over at Reiha and frowned.. Wasn't he supposed to be happy? Not crying..

"I.. it's.. it's great.."

Flamefire123
Reiha smiled and moved closer to the ever innocent Berial and wraped an arm around him. "He's kinda over come Berial. He's use being alone, and now he's not." Reiha smiled up at Scurffy before going over to the present table and pulling ou the thin matching presents handing one to each man. "that's my present." she told them, "I hope you like it."

Adain smiled and reached over to pa Scruffy on the back. "Reiha's right dude, you're not alone anymore, so it's okay." he promised him.

Jizzy Jazz
Scruffy shuddered taking Reiha's gift before turning to Chel, who was sittign enxt to him, and wrapping his arms around her.. He felt off balance, but in a good sort of way.. He had lsot it all and here.. here it was again.. "thank you.." He whispered..

Erik and Chel shared a smile.. He knew now.. Erik watched his twin and realzied how glad he was he never sent Scruffy abck,a s he had intended to do.. Scruffy had found his palce here now.. and.. they were like family.. Taking the gift Reiha gave him, he smiled.. 'thank you Reiha.."

"I have p'sents too!" He said, rushing to the table and pulling out same poorly wrapped pesents.. They were drawings, but looked like wds ofwrapping paper.. "Here!"

Flamefire123
Reiha grined as she watched Berial and again hoped that her pictures were alright. The one she gave to Erik was a crudly drawn version of him casting some form of spell and looking very powerful with it, and under it Reiha wrote, "You enchant us" and to Scruffy it was a picture of him alone but people in the background watching him. Under that Reiha wrote "Sometimes you need to look before you're found."

Adain watched too as he smiled, it was a good gift, and he was glad. He wanted to give Scruffy something more then a simple gift but something to do, a reason to be happy again, and to feel like he really did belong here.

It's Not Funny Anymore!

Growth Quest-Part Six

Reiha glanced around the kitchen then let out a small sigh. It was safe, Adain was no where to be seen. God knows where he was, maybe paying the babysitter, but it gave her a chance to grab some food so she could go to her room and hide. A good sandwhich should last her the night. She wasn't that hard to keep content, though not nessicarily full, it just took a lot to make Reiha actually complain of hunger. In fact, Adain would tell you, she never had while under his care, he always offered food before she had the chance.

So pulling out the meat, cheese, bread and a step stool, Reiha went to making herself a good sandwhich. She grabed a knife, holding it up to the block of cheese, just thinking how lucky she was today. Adain had been driving her nuts since their last fight. He completely went parental. Hell TV 50 mom's were less strict than him. He was doing everything by the book and it was-

"Reiha!" Adain walked into the kitchen and rushed over, grabing the knife quickly from her hands. The gangily man had to surpress a smirk when Reiha gave him the death stare. He was glad that this eleborate plan was working, because he was starting to get on his own nerves. "You shouldn't play with knives Rei Rei." Adain dusted off the old nickname just to piss the girl off as he cleaned the blade and put the knife away. "You'll get hurt. Now if you're hungry I'll make dinner. Let's clean up your mess." With the gentle obvious tone that all preschool shows had Adain bent over Reiha to help her clean, and she snapped.

"STOP IT!" she screamed, pushing at the man hard. Harder than Adain would think a five year old would be able too. Reiha jumped down from her stepstool to beat at Adain's stomach. Luckily anger didn't cancel out her age or Adain's fit body so he wasn't that badly hurt. "I'm so DAMN sick of that stupid TONE!" Reiha yelled, glaring up at him. "You wont let me touch Korbin because it's 'unsanitary'. You tell me not to hold knives when I handle them better than you! You give me a stupid bed time! I don't need a damn bedtime! I need you to back-off!" Shoving her elbow dangerously close to Adain's crotch Reiha panted slightly as she just glared, not backing down.

Adain smiled.

"Want me to back off?" Adain drawled in a whole new tone. One that spoke of intellgence that nether Reiha nor Korbin thought he could possess. "Pretty big demand considering I have no reason too. After all, when have you ever just done something for me?" Adain asked, tilting his head to the side as he leaned against the counter, smirking at the girl as he crossed his arms over his chest. "I think I'm going to need better reasons than you'll beat the hell out of me unless I say yes."

Reiha frowned, not liking the sound of what Adain said last...was that really what she was like? No...she was different, she was just mad, it was his fault, he made her so damn mad, that's all, yeah that's all. "Like what?" she spat, not lessening the hate in her voice. The girl was starting to understand she was just conned and really well.

"Like you treating me better Rei Rei." Adain said firmly, standing up straight just to bend down to her level. "You treat me like s**t Reiha, and that's not okay. It's not okay for you to treat anyone like s**t, no matter who they remind you of, especially if that someone is treating you well. Now if some guy is treating you like s**t, then don't take it, but I never treated you bad. I feed you at least three times day, I care for you when you're upset or hurt, I love you Reiha, and I'm not asking for that back. I'm asking for a little respect, a little care, not the world, just don't keep on glaring every time I give you an order. I get it Reiha, you're a smart kid given a bad road, I'm sorry, but I am older than you. That means I know more. Treat me like it. You're smarter than me." Adain paused, waiting to see her reaction to that last statement but she kept that glaring poker face. "But you knew that. One day soon there will be nothing I can teach you but right now that's not true. I will make you a deal, I'll treat you the way you deserve to be treated and you do the same with me."

"I don't need you to baby me just 'cause I'm hurt or something." Reiha muttered, making Adain smile, glad she remembered their last fight.

"I do. I told you brat, I love you, that means when you're hurt I worry. You don't care when Berial does it."

"That's different. He's..." Reiha trailed off, not really knowing the difference between Berial and Adain.

"Safe?" Adain filled in, and after a moment Reiha nodded slowly with a small sigh. "Reiha have I ever made you feel like I'd ever hurt you?"

"No..."

"Then why are you still scared of me?"

Reiha turned quickly to protest that fact but stopped to stare at him, really stare at him. Adain had such a harmless face. It had kind of funny angles with miss matched sizes. His nose was too long, lips to small, eyes kind of skewed, it wasn't that obvious, not really, till you really stared. What was there to fear?

"You're bigger than me..."

"And you're smarter than me Reiha, not to mention you have Korbin on your side. Reiha, you're safe here, there's nothing I hate more than a man who beats on women and children." Adain told her softly, not letting his eyes leave hers. He needed this to be out on the table.

"But..."

"But what Reiha? I'm not asking you to share my bed, just...treat me a little better, okay? You don't have to touch me, just let me make sure you're safe, well fed, and happy. Is that really so hard?"

"Yes..." Reiha whispered as he looked down and wished that Korbin was there for her to hug. "It's harder than you'll ever know. You always had someone to love, but...I...I...I only had..." Reiha was trembling as tears started to come to her eyes, she snifted once and tried to hold it back, but then Adain grabed her and pulled her to him, and it wasn't scary.

"Now you have me. Now you have Korbin. Now you have Berial. Now you have a lot. Forget about what you use to have, now you have so much more." Adain whispered.

Reiha trembled as she started to cry quietly. She didn't lean against Adain, but she didn't pull back, big fat tears rolled down her cheeks as he rubbed her back calmly till she stopped after a few minutes.

"I wont promise anything." Reiha muttered as she broke free, turning to head back to her room, she needed Korbin. "But I'll try."

Adain stood up and let her go, smiling a little. That was all he needed right now.

I Loved Her

Adain paced his room. He didn't know what else to do with his heart churning in his heart, his stomach knotting, and god his head. His head was just filled with her. Images of her, memories of her, thoughts of her, he had far to many of all three. He wasn't use to this, this...need to hit, to hurt, to destory. He might have taken the impulsive a few months ago, before Reiha, before he knew what that did to people.

But he couldn't just be in this room doing nothing. Then it hit him. Adain sat down in front of his computer, turning it on and opening his old diary program that he hadn't used in forever. He used it a lot when Reiha first came but...things had been so damn hetic. Adain sighed as he rubbed his face. He had to get these feelings out.

She came back into my life today. I use to pray I would never see her again. I use to count the days till the end of high school when we'd be gone forever, and when I was just getting comfortable, just dealing with all these changes she came back. Oh god I don't know if I can handle her in my life again.

She broke my heart. Her name was Susan, aparently she changed it. I loved her...oh god I loved her. With everything I was and I thought with everything I ever would be. She used me, I went to jail because of her. I got out but not in time to save my heart. I still can't believe what I turned into for her. I would have done anything if it made her happy. I was pathetic...I was

Adain pulled back, breathing hard as he realized his hands were shaking pretty bad. All of a sudden he had a want, no a need, for beer, for any kind of alochol, anything that would just dull this damn pain, make him forget why he was so damn angry, so damn hurt.

It wasn't fair! Susan had no right to have so much power over him still. It had been over five years since they last met. He was happy, goddamnit! He had Reiha in a good spot, for now at least, he had a sexy carefree woman willing to deal with his newfound parental responblities and still sleep with him, he had good friends, a desent job. He was happy!

Adain let his head fall onto the desk as he felt like sobbing. He hadn't cried since...Susan. Seemed she was the only woman able to bring him to tears. He didn't want this. He didn't want to feel like complete s**t just because a woman decided to reenter his life. He didn't want to drag himself across coals just to please some woman's whim. He was sick of bending over backwards just because some woman decided he didn't suit her, or her life.

"I wont be that guy again." Adain swore to himself as he straightened up, pulling himself closer to his journal document.

I wont let any woman do this to me again. I became a puppy for her and like hell I'll ever do that for anyone. For Reiha, for Chel, for anyone. Screw them, screw them all I have the right to be me. And I wont let them deny me that anymore. I've been dealing with so much s**t for no damn good reason. Well I'm done with it. Done with them. From now on I'm going to be Adain and that's it.

With his vow typed out Adain pushed saved then closed it, then shut down the computer before turning around, jumping out of the chair to call his baby sitter. It had been too long since he just hung out at the bar with some friends and checked out hot girls.

One Step Forward and Two Steps Back

Reiha glanced down the stairs to see Adain sitting in front of the TV. That wasn't really an odd event. The thing was what he was drinking. A few days ago Adain left randomly, letting a baby sitter come over and make dinner which never did. The next day he came home with a twelve pack of beer and finnished that yesterday. There was a new one in the house today and though he cleaned it up and even cleaned them out she could smell it. The fear was back but the weird thing was that the fear was over powered by something completely different.

Worry.

Reiha was wondering why the hell Adain was acting so...different. He had been surly, grumpy and god forbid she asked for anything. The other day she asked him to get something down from the top shelf and he snareled at her. Reiha had decided to do with out that day.

She sighed and slipped back into her room where Korbin waited, looking at her pointedly but Reiha just shrugged a little as she streatched out on the bed. Her eyes looked around the room but stoped when she saw a book she almost forgotten about. The old journal Adain got her, he said it was for writing down her thoughts. She didn't really need it because she had Korbin but she reached over, grabing it as she streached out on the bed, starting to write slowly and carefully.

I haven't written in here alot. At least not for real, sometimes I just wrote to practice my wording though Adain says I have really good hand writing for my age. He's why I'm writting, Adain. Not that he's making me but...I'm worried for him. Adain had been trying so hard to get closer to me lately. He made me promise to treat him better because he's try so hard and annoyed the hell out of me to make sure I did but now...I dunno, he's drinking, in the house and he knows that bothers me. He hasn't done that sine he found out it annoys me.

It makes me worried really. A few days ago, about four really, he came home and stormed to his room. He normally comes in to bug me a little, ask if I want to do something, then leave me alone, but that day he just went to his room. Then later he came out, called back the baby sitter and didn't come back to really late.

I waited up.

This is kind of scarying me. I don't know why Adain is doing this and...well that worries me. It's odd since he seemed pretty happy lately since I have been treating him nicer, and he has Chel, this girl that he has sex with, and that seems to make him happy you know? But now he's just been so weird you know? I kind of wish I knew why. Not that I could help him, but it be nice to at least know.

He has been super bitchy to me too. So he's also real annoying. This isn't just because I'm worried. I really wish he be more normal. He's less annoying then. I dunno. I don't like all these changes, they make me really uneasey. I wish I knew what to do to fix it.

Reiha sighed and stared at the last words then closed the book before throwing it to the ground. She reached over and pulled Korbin closer. The young girl felt very young as she stroked Korbin and hide from a slowly growing drunk man.

It was all too familiar.

Morianna
It had been a bit more than two weeks since Chel had last heard from Adian and frankly Chel was worried.. After the awkward lunch that had followed thier meeting with Susan, she hadn't heard much from him, but she figured he jst needed some space for a while..

After a week and a half, she started worring..

And that why she was here, ehr hair it's ormal pink as she took a deep sigh and knocked on the door.

Flamefire123
There was a really long pause, about ten minutes, then Reiha pulled the door open, peering out at the pink haired lady that normally Adain smile so stupid. True reiha hated the thought of him having sex. Not because she was jealous, or wanted more attention but mostly because the idea of anyone haveing sex made her feel dirty, scared and hateful. Still, Adain had been acting werid and...well Reiha was worried too.

"He's in the living room." Reiha said softly, pulling the door open more as she steped back then glanced back at her. "He's being a little b*****d lately. Like I've been acting like I've always have but now everything become so damn personal. You'd think I was stabing daggers in his heart by being anoyed by him."

Morianna
Reiha's words confirmed her fears. Something was wrong with Adian.. After what had happened between him ad Reiha he wouldn't purposely try and push her away like that, not unless soemthing was wrong.

"Thank you, Reiha.. I.. think I may know what's bothering him...." She said, giving the girl a soft smile before walking inside.. Padding softly, she strode into the living room. "Adian?" She said, to announce her precense.

Flamefire123
Adain looked up from the couch. He was sprawled out lazily watching some form of guy movie that contained lots of explosions and lots of scadily glad women, but he looked bored. His clothes were dirty and hair unbrushed but what really proved how out of it he was the beer that dangled from his fingertips.

Adain stoped drinking beer in the house since Reiha had her freak out moment. It also explained why Reiha didn't follow Chel in despite her obvious concern.

"Hi Chel." he said slowly and sat up, taking another swig of the beer, at least that was the only one in sight. He wasn't so far gone to leave them out for Reiha to smell, he just wanted a small buzz, anything to get this pain in his heart to dull a little. "Sorry I haven't talked to you lately. Geuss I just haven't been in the mood for fooling around."

Morianna
Chel frowned at the sight of him as she flt the worry that had crept into her suddenly flood down.. Her eyes traveled from his clothes to his hair and finally landing on the beer. Her eyes widened slightly before she started walking determinatel up to him.

"You haven't seemed to be in the mood to bathe either.." She said, trying to ignore the hurt she felt at Adian's words.. He mattered to her.. alot, but did he care for her, or was she just for that? Fooling around.. Trying to stifle her own self doubt she reache dover to try and take the beer from him..

"and I thought you'd given up drinking in the house, for Reiha.."

Flamefire123
"I got off of work." Yesterday. He didn't have work today and it just didn't seem worth the effort when the couch was so...there. It wasn't nessicarly comfortable, just like he wasn't nessicarily happy but it was there, and it was better than thinking of her, even though he did anyway.

"I had, but she's such a ******** big girl, she should be able to handle it." Adain grumbled as he took the beer back, finnished it and then shoved it back into Chel's hands. She wanted to make comments? Then let her clean it up. He wasn't in the mood for women right now, he thought he made that clear.

Morianna
Chel let the clothing thing slide, not knowing his work schedule but at his second comment her eyes narrowed and she placed the empty beer bottle down on a table. Marching right back up to Adian she drew herhand back and slapped him, hard. Perhaps it could knock some sense into him.

"No, she shouldn't and you shouldn't expect her too, not after what you said happened last time." She said, her voice showing her anger. He was Reiha's father, and one thing was to isolate her.. She was just.. a girfriend, a firend with ebenfits? who knew, but Reiha was his daughter.

"What the hell is wrong with you?"

Flamefire123
Adain's head hung off to the side as she ranted as he fought his own heart, his own pain and worse, his own tears. He didn't want to cry in front of Chel, he didn't want to bother her with this, this wasn't her problem, wasn't her bussiness. Why should she care? He'd come back once he just got over this.

"She has to get over it. People drink." Adai said slowly, still not looking at Chel, afraid that if he did she'd see the tears that were far to close to his eyes.

"And nothing is wrong with me. Why does something have to be wrong with me to want to be alone for a few days? Enjoy a few beers without having to go out and deal with damn ******** games people play with each other? Maybe I just don't want to deal with it, deal with her."

Morianna
Chel had no such objection to crying in front of Adian.. He.. he mattered to her and.. and she couldn't think of anything to say to help him..

So she shouted instead.

"How can you even SAY THAT?! You told me before, she could have been ABUSED! You saw how she reacted to alcohol and you're choosing to ignore it. That ALONE tells me there's something wrong, especially after you were so worried if you were doing a good job.." She sniffled after this, wiping at her face..

"You were worried and now.. now I'm ******** worried. Reiha's worried. Even Erik and Scruffy have been asking about you, because all it seems like is that you're shutting is out and that WORRIES ME!!" She sniffled again.. SOmewhere in the abck of ehr mind, the logical bit of ehr told her that she shouldn't be shouting, that Adian wa hurting and he didn't need to be shouted at, but she was hurting too.

"so.. so please.. I. can you look me in the eye and honestly tell me.. that nothing is wrong?"

Flamefire123
Adain's hands trembled as he was shouted out as he fought for a slipery hold on his emtions, and he would have kept it too but...then he heard her snift and he turned quickly to look at her face.

Chel was crying? Chel was crying? But...even Nathen didn't make her cry...And he was creepy.

"Chel...it's complicated." he whispered, staring at her, trying to keep her calm. "I'm just tired okay? I just can't deal with everything right now. I only want a little help, to relax a little. Why is that so bad?"

"He drank to wash away a woman too." Reiha whispered from the door way, watching the pair with those eerily old eyes of her, that haunted scared look hovering as Korbin perched, the every loyal gaurd. "He drank everyday to wash her away, but she never would leave his heart that way she left his life."

Morianna
Chel was about to open her mouth to tell him something.. something she wans't quite sure what, but Reiha spoke first and the scary sort of truth in her voice shook Chel and only made her cry more.. It was obvious Reiha was not talking about Adain, but she knew now what was bothering Adian..

"Is that true, Adian? Is.. Is this about Susan?" She whispered, her tone low and almsot broken as her emotions ran wild with her.. Susan.. they're relationship had ended a logn time ago apprently, but she still held power over Adian.. How much power? Was that the type of woman he really liked?

Chel hoped it wasn't, cause she wasn't that type of woman..

Flamefire123
Adain stared at Reiha a bit worried, they finally made a little progress but at the same time he felt mad. She thought she understood? How could she? And why should she even care? Reiha never cared about him, not really. He was just another ristriction in her life.

"I don't know." He answered shortly turning away from both girls as he let out a deep breath, pushing his hair back and turned to face them again, rage over taking him now.

"Look, why don't you both just but out? This is my life, and I should be able to do with it what ever I want too! I'm not hurting you Reiha, so why should you care? this isn't any of your guy's bussiness!"

Reiha stared at him for a long time then she walked slowly into the room grabing the beer bottle once, turning and throwing it violetnly to the wall, having it smash again the pretty wall paper his sister talked him into puting up.

"That's what he always did." Reiha turned and walked out of the room, not saying another word, not saying another word or showing a single flicker of emtion.

Morianna
Chel felt Adian's words stab through her, hard.. She ahd been right.. SHe didn't matter to him.. Why should she? Gaping slightly after Reiha's little display, Chel turned her eyes to Adian, the tears flowing full force down her face.

"I'm sorry.. You're right.. It isn't our business.. Reiha's jsut your daughter and I only care about you.. maybe even love you.... what right do we have to try to talk to you when you're hurt.. I'll go ask Reiha if she wants to stay with me or Erik and then we'll both just butt out.." The words were spoken softly and dagerously. She was hurt and not hinking as logically as she normally would.

Turning she started out of the room, plannign on staying true to her word. She didn't want Reiha anywhere near Adian if he was going to act like this.

Flamefire123
"Don't say that!" Adain snapped at her suddenly, but it wasn't anger but fear in that sharp tone even as his hand reached out quickly to grab her arm, turning her quickly to look at him, "Don't say you love me." he begged her, eyes big and scared.

"Love does bad things to you, please, don't say you love me." Adain looked honestly scared, how he acted with Susan...He didn't want to see Chel reduced to that. She was so strong, and beautiful, and kind, and loving and....

"I'm not a good guy chel." he whispered, hands trembling again even as he wouldn't let her go. "Don't ruin yourself over me. Please. I'm not worthy of that....worthy of you."

Morianna
Chel's eyes searched his face before lockin on his eyes, and her eyes showed her tears, her pain, but below it alll, her determintation. Raising her hands up to place on his cheeks, she kept eyes contact.

"I.. Love.. You.."

She said it slowly, deliberatly and realizing she menat every word.. Without her even noticing a one night fling had escalated into something.. soemthing huge..

"Even if you don't love me back, even if you don't think you're 'worthy'.. I think you are a good guy.. I think you are worthy.. and even though it acts against my better judgement, seeing as your being an a**.. I love you."

Flamefire123
Adain stared back, not even sure what to say, what to do. What do you do when the girl you couldn't think of without smiling said "I love you." What do you do when you were terrfied of what exactly you felt for her even as your first love hovered so close to remind you what happened last time you tried that path.

What the hell do you do when you just ******** with the best thing that came into your life and despite that they still give you the most perfect thing in the world?

You cry.

Adain's eyes closed slowly as the tears just rolled down his cheeks. His arms went around Chel and pulled her tightly to him as his face moved to her shoulder as she just started to sob, big hard gasps, and once he started it just wouldn't stop.

For everytime he smiled instead of cried, he cried now. For every pain he pulled in instead of letting it out, he cried now. And for everytime he hugged some nameless woman to shove away the true loneiness, he cried.

Because he wasn't lonely anymore, he didn't have to be. He had Chel, he had Reiha, he had Erik, and Scruffy and Berial. Maybe he didn't have Scruffy's tragic past but he just got a new family too.

Morianna
And Chel held him.. She held him because, depsite how hard she tried to keep away from love, she'd fallen for him. She held him because she found him amongs all the guys she'd slept with to avoid commitment. She held him because she loved him..

She pulled back, because she loved him and it hurt..

Reaching up to his face she wipe at his tears, ignoring her own for a moment.. "I.. I understand if.. if you'd like to be alone tonight.. I mean.. I.. I dropped a big bomb on you.. I.. you don't need to think about it, if you don't want to.. but.. I wasn't kidding.. I.. I cna tak Reiha for the night, if you'd like.." She said, her speech interupted by sniffles and the false attempt at a smile.. That hug didn't mean he loved her back, she wasn't a mind reader and she didn't knwo what he was thinking..

She loved him, yes, but being close to him right now and seeing him so hurt, was hurting her too..

Flamefire123
"No." Adai whispered, pulling her back close, he liked that hug. Some how that hug, that fully clothes, tear filled hug, was more intimante than all those nights with the women on women. And...he liked it. He wanted to feel it longer.

"I want you to stay here...both of you." Adain said softly, pulling back to look at her. "I know my line Chel, I know what Im suppose to say after you say I love you but...I don't know if that's exactly what I feel. I know you fill me with a special feeling that has nothing to do with sex. I know my heart jumps when I see you. I know being with you makes me wish small moments could last forever. I know I'd do anything to keep you safe, and happy, and as long as you were both of those first I'd do anything to keep you mine. I don't want to loose you or what we have." Adain sighed and held her tighter.

"But that's all I know."

Morianna
"But that's enough.." She said softly as he finnished. She held him tightly back, just taking in the moment and his words.. He may not have said he loved her, but what he felt was more than she could ever ask for..

Her emotions satiated for a while she gave him a soft squeeze and regretted what she was about to say, but it was for the best.. "at least.. it's enough for me.. I never meant to pressure you or rush you into saying anything and what you jsut told me is more than enough for me.. but.." She trailed off for a moment still holding him tight to her.. Part of her didn't want to let go..

"I'm worried about Reiha and.. if.. if you feel up to it.. I. really think you should g speak with her.." and there she went. Blwoing the moment to be the voice of reason.. Her heart chastized her for breaking the moment, but her head knew Reiha's troubles were far more important than her heart right now.

Flamefire123
Adain smiled slightly as she did that, holding her close. She really cared about Reiha too and though Adain had been an a** lately he did love Reiha, and he was glad that she just accepted Reiha so easily, but that's why Chel was just so perfect for him.

"You're right but I want to do something first." he murrmed as she pulled back, moving up to wipe away the tears before pulling her into a tight loving kiss that he kept up for about a minute before he finally pulled back. "I wont ever make you cry again." he swore softly, then sent her a very Adain grin, "Unless it's tears of passion." he laughed and nuzzled her neck lovingly.

"Let's go find Reiha."

"You should just ignore him." Korbin told Reiha as the pair sat outside. Reiha needed the fresh air and just the space. The thing was that Korbin was worried too. Reiha was getting closer to Adain, and it seemed to make her more comfortable at least but now she just seemed to be holding things in and Korbin didn't like feeling out of the loup. He wasn't suppose to be out of the loop, he was suppose to be the damn loop.

"proably." reiha muttered, as she leaned against the house watching the sky as she just stroked Korbin softly, "But he needed help, and I mean he's anoying but...I don't know. I hated seeing him trying to drown his sorrows in alcohol. I wont ever do that Korbin, be so weak to need a subtence to stand my own damn heart and my own damn soul."

Morianna
Chel responded eagerly to the kiss, but even better to the smile he sent her afterwards.. He was back.. at least it certainly seemed so..

"Alright." She said, letting a smile slip onto her face as he promised to never make her cry again.. She doubted the promise would be kept. Chel could relaly elt the floodgates open every once in a whil, but the pormise was enough to show her that he really cared..

"Do you think she'll be in her room or outside?"

Flamefire123
Adain glanced back at the beer bottle shards still resting against the wall and floor. "Outside." he finally decided, knowing he'd have some cleaning to do and some ground to make up. Adain took a deep breath and then looked at Chel.

It be okay, Reiha was a smart girl, she would understand...right? God Adain hoped so, he didn't want to loose all this distence he finally made just because he was being an a** for a while.

Morianna
Chel nodded. "You can do it.." She hoped.. She had faith in Adian, for sure, but she didn't know the extent of Reiha's damage, or how she;d react to what had happened, or even her precense.. She was folowing Adian because Adian wanted her there..

Flamefire123
Adain did want her there, right now he really didn't want to be without ether one of 'his girls' because he wanted to make up for being such an a** to both of them. And he would, maybe he could book dinner or something. Adain though he'd figure it out as he opened up the door to see Reiha sitting right outside.

"Hey." he said slowly, wondering what she'd do.

Reiha looked up at Adain, "Chasing after the women of the past only leaves you hurting the women of the present." she told him quietly as two pairs of eyes, one emerald, the other gold, just watched him. "Right Chel?"

Morianna
Chel was unnerved by Reiha, by ehr expression, by her cool tone, but she nodded notheless. Despite acting extrordinarily creepy, Reiha was right..

Looking over at Adian, she felt confident that he thought so too.. She only hoped it would be enough to try to conquer the pain Susan had inflicted on him.

Flamefire123
"I..." Adain was speachless. What could he say? This girl, a five year old girl, saw so easily though his selfish depression and then told him something he should have listened too about a half an hour before hand.

"How do you know that?" Adain finally asked, sitting down next to Reiha but not touching her since Korbin was watching him so closely.

Reiha shrugged, looking back to the sky as she held Korbin ever so much tighter, "I don't know. I don't really remember anything, expect feelings. I geuss feelings are always the first to come and the last to go."

Adain galnced up to Chel, wondering what exactly he should do in this situation. Reiha didn't seem upset, but should he still apologize? Should he try to press this to find out more about her parents?

though he was getting a pretty clear picture, and it wasn't a pretty one. Her father must have drank, maybe after her mother left, and when he drank...he must have become violet.

"You know Reiha...No matter how much I drink I wont ever hurt you." he finally said slowly.

"Adain...you can't hurt me." Reiha told him, "I have Korbin now." She glanced at Chel and then back to the sky, "Besides, not even you are that stupid."

Morianna
"I don't think he is that stupid, either.." Chel said, smiling weakly at Adain before turning to Reiha.. She needed to know people were here for her.. "and you don't only have Korbin, Reiha.. You have Berial and Adain, despite what happened today.." She said before looking down at the ground for a moment then back up at Reiha. "I.. I'm here too, if you need me." Reiha was a swee girl deep down, she saw that when she was with Berial. She didn't deserve this sort of loneliness or pain.

Flamefire123
Reiha glanced down at Korbin and remembered how he jumped in front of a spell to protect her back when Chel was kidnapped. She was right, she did have Berial, the others in this odd play were there too, but....Reiha stood up and headed to the still open front door.

"I don't know what I need." Reiha admited.

Adain stood up and watched her go but didn't say anything, just bit his lip and then turned to Chel, "I should just let her go huh?" he asked quietly before looking down. "....Would you like to stay for dinner? I think I'm gonna make Reiha something special and...I'd like it if it was special for you too."

Morianna
Chel frowned a bit as Reiha left but sighed.. "I.. just.. jsut don't let anything like this happen again, Adain.. Not to her." She said.. If he had a relationship problem, an issue with Susan, he could take it out on her, but not on Reiha..

"and.. I would love to stay for dinner."

Paul Revere
A particular conflict had seemed to arise the moment the two had met. They were children - they were foolish children. With heads the size of a Mammoth and minds regarded rather than heart, they strode about with fight in their eyes. It was a fiery fate for two individuals who had only just began their conquest along invisible Rail Road tracks that had been laid upon the ground by some entity or sense of spontaneousness. They were trapped with one another - bound together through commitment, honor, and a general feeling of being intertwined. Throughout their fights, they always returned to one another; they always returned to that first day of staring one another in the eyes. That bravery and tacit admiration was their glue.

Even so, such an observation was overshadowed by malice. There were days in which neither of the two could stand one another. Such was the case with the late evening. Marcello had grown tired of the antics and jabber of his wild-eyed companion. The boredom within his mind had been heightened by the participation of a few of the other crew members upon the Bus. A planning session, they had called it - most attending for kicks or to satisfy the apparent ego of the ring-leading party members, Paul and Ansel - and Paul insisted that Marcello find something better to do.

All that had been left free on the Bus had been Mary - who had soon departed for an outing to some obscure site no one had been particularly interested in.

Except Marcello.

Mary, who Marcello understood to be a director of filming Paul's stand-up routines, had mentioned a fountain. She had described it with vigor and enthusiasm. The beauty of such a description had left Marcello in awe. Unlike the factual comedy and experiences of Paul and the 'planning party', the fountain talk had been inclusive. Marcello had been capable of relating to it. There was no mention of 'what happened in the summer of 1987' or whether or not a woman named Amelia Earhart had vanished above a named triangle. It had been modern - it had been recent - it had mattered for all sake! While Marcello had been incapable of relating to the historical jargon, he had been perfectly capable of relating to the elaborate description and fantastical nature of Mary's desired location for the evening. She had mentioned white stone as shining as a pearl - perhaps made of Marble. She had mentioned intricate carvings of people, of sea-creatures, and of birds - and she had mentioned the sparkling water of a blue unknown to the sky or sea - a clear blue, a fresh blue, illuminated by golden light.

'It is divine at night!', Mary had exclaimed before leaving. 'The water is like magic, oh, you'd love it, Marc, but it's far too late for you to go with me'. With such a note, she had gathered her things and had ruffled his head - a symbol of affection Marcello had not particularly liked from the day he had arrived. She had then left with only a good-bye and a scolding of Paul for swearing too loudly in front of the young boy who they had grown to call Marc.

With Mary's departure, and the occupation of the others, Marcello had been left alone. He had stood upon the Bus - observing the cramped space of his mobile home. It was clean; it was stark - and there was hardly anything spread about the many seats. a few blankets had been tossed over the tops of the chairs, a few back-packs, a few boxes - a few paper plates. The Bus was a funny contraption of drawers held high above the head, seats spread for at least twelve rows, and obnoxiously bright lighting. It's colors were nonsensical and dull - though Marcello had noticed that, after his arrival, certain individuals had began to liven the place up with color out of eagerness and fascination. Regardless, the Bus was no playground for a boy of his stature [or mental stature]. It was simply a place to sleep in the evenings and be sheltered from the street - as well as something Paul had referred to as Property Tax. Given that, Marcello was often bored upon the thing. Given that, he was prone to his supposed mischief and wanderings. However, as he insisted, he would not land himself into trouble if someone would simply give him something to do other than stand on the Bus or tidy up the Driver's area.

Driven by his own boredom after Mary's departure, Marcello had fallen into a daydream. He had envisioned the fountain, with its cool and shining waters. He had envisioned the texture of the stone, and the realism of the sculptures carved into it. A beauty it had proven within his mind - and it was such an infatuation with the mythologicalized item that had led him to disembark himself. With the others busy and not paying close attention, Marcello had slipped off of the Bus. He had pried open the doors, and he had casually walked off as if going to find a bathroom within the truck stop they had settled in for the evening.

Such was the story of how he had gotten lost within the night-life of Durem. The world had changed when he had lost sight of the Bus and count of his steps. No longer did the buildings look familiar; no longer did the air appear pleasant. He had stood firmly on the side-walk after finding an inhabited section of the town - crowded with a sea of bodies of adults, young adults, and a few children no older than he himself. There he had observed half-nervously. Soon his thoughts had began to fall away due to his minor misgivings - the likes of which pride would not allow him to admit.

Marcello's vision of the fountain had faded within the seeming hour of his confusion and lack of direction. He forgot it all entirely by the time he heard the clock chiming in the distance to signal the passing hour. Thus he had become something he had never dreamed of becoming - for, during his time of being particularly awake, he had never been alone. For the first time since the Train had stopped at the station and Paul had taken him away, Marcello was alone - a solitary figure, small, young, and without guidance.

Except for Mary's destination description.

Adian jolted once as he realized that he had actually fallen sleep standing up. For the past week he had been working double shifts, due to a resent firing. The pay was great because he was getting major overtime but the hours were really starting to kill him. He really hoped they got a new guy soon. Besides the baby sitting pay was cutting into pay check too, and his time with Reiha. He was making serious progress with the girl before this, but now she was starting to get all distent from him again, and Adian didn't know what else to do.

He hopped that this little ploy would give them some time to spend together but instead she just ran off with that damned bird and he stood there falling asleep. He wasn't sure he could handle much more than this.

"Thank god for sleep in days." he muttered, yawning, then glanced at his watch, surpised at the time, "Oh s**t, Reiha should be in bed by now." And so should I. he thought to himself as he went to seek the surly girl out.

Reiha was surrounded by books. When Adian started to work more she really wasn't sure how to feel. For a while there she almost feared he went out to drink every night but the third night she stayed up and watched him come home. He didn't look or act or sound drunk at all. He sounded tired, and fell asleep while trying to make dinner, so Reiha felt safe. Tired people weren't people to be scared of, tired people were weak. Besides Reiha wasn't sure Adian was a person, he might just be an Adian. Like the way Berial wasn't a person, he was Berial. You had to fear people, you didn't have to fear names.

Reiha wasn't thinking about fear right now, she was thinking about moth mygration and how city lights distrupt their flight paths. She had hundreds of other books, on other random subjects, she wanted to know it all. The book store was supose to be a short trip, while she found some new stuff to read, and there was a small reasonable pile off to the side, going untouched as she read though the many books she wouldn't ask for, she had to read those first, they weren't going to come home with her.

"Do crows migrate, Korbin?" Reiha asked, eyes not raising from the book she was reading.

Korbin was really rather bored, but Reiha appeared happy and the weak human was gone at least. Though he was pretty sure that would end soon. There was not much sound from the bookshop around them and he just heard a new one. Since the door hadn't opened he was pretty sure it was Adian. Oh well, tonight really hadn't been all that bad.

"I don't know." Korbin admited, fluffing up his feathers, then fluttered down. "I think he's comming though"

"I figured it was getting kinda late." Reiha rose, starting to put all her books away. By the time Adian actually found her she had a stack of four reasonably priced books in her hands and persented them to him silently. Adian paid it easily, and though he promised dinner he told them that they would just be heading home, and apologized. Reiha just shrugged, holding her books close to her chest as Adian held the door open for her.

Adian was exgusted. he had wanted to take Reiha out to dinner but he just couldn't stay awake any longer. He rubbed the back of his head as he held her hand. He didn't have a car so he was stuck with walking. He didn't have a phone to call a cab and Korbin didn't act well on the bus. It really wasn't that long of a walk, and soon he'd be home and in bed. God he wished he already was.

"Adian" Reiha's voice snapped Adian out of his half awake walk. "There's a boy up ahead." She slipped her hand from his and pointed the boy who walked twords them. He looked very alone, Reiha noticed and he only appeared to be around her age. And Reiha knew kids around her age shouldn't be alone, besides her of course.

Marcello had cocked a brow at the insinuation that there was no such thing as a paper boy. It had never occurred to him that the concept was outdated, though he supposed the man was correct. Paul had never mentioned paper boys outside of a historical reference - and always in a negative light. He would shout about them and how they use to exploit something called Yellow Journalism. He would criticize their having existed. Then again, what did Paul not criticize other than his own stage-acts? Marcello had never understood the whole ordeal, but he had learned that valued lesson of kids selling papers. He had thought it would come in handy, but, as it appeared, his plan was greatly flawed.

Putting on a face of utter confusion and attempted innocence, Marcello had given a broad smile. His eyes had seemed to project his craftiness - as if he were on ground to refuse any such compromise of his original story. "You sure?" He had asked. The fire in his heart had seemed to grow larger - to burn harder; then, all at once, it had been extinguished when he realized that there was such a thing as Child Labor. He could remember Paul having praised it once - thanking the world for doing something right and disposing of that horror. One thing they both could likely agree on: working children was not a brilliant idea. Marcello had no desire to work. He rather enjoyed sitting around the Bus all day - being pampered and well groomed by the social-net that had seemed to weave about him. He had a wonderful life - and that life did not include work. A loud snort had flown from his nose as he had dropped the paper in defeat. Cautiously, he had wiped the dirt that had gathered on his hands onto his pants.

It was then that Reiha's out-right demand had boxed his ears. Marcello's eyes had snapped towards her as if she had just paid him some grave insult. He wanted nothing - just an inclusion to conversation to avoid asking for directions. Almost instantaneously, Marcello had gawked at Aidan. The idea of his being lost had been a stab to the heart. Though it was true, he simply did not want to admit it. He could find his way anywhere he wanted. He just needed to ... Think. That was all.

With his mouth agape, Marcello had stammered out his defenses - a bit of rage riling in his tone of voice. "I'm not lost!" He had wailed. Clearly, though, he was. His utter defiance of the idea was sheer proof. What reason had there been for his to explode the very retort? The young boy had tugged at his scarf habitually. He had stood as tall as he possibly could, looking at the two humanoid individuals and the bird. With a heavy sigh, he had looked at the ground. He had mumbled something before speaking louder. "A Fountain. Do you know where one is?" He had asked. He had not dared describe it - as if he thought it were some sacred monument that would be clearly recognized.

"I am not in the mood for this." Adian grumbbled, rubbing his face as he looked around for a coffee place somewhere, anywhere. It wasn't his lucky day though. If it was this would have happened any time but now. His mind just could not work right now. Still the man has a lost kid to make unlost and a little girl to get home and put in bed and both kids seemed like they didn't want to admit they were kids.

"Look, there are no fountains near here. Where are your parents kid? Or your gaurdian, or something?" he asked, glaring down at the kid. He wasn't in the mood for bullshit. Normally Adian could handle alot, go with the flow and everything but not tonight. Tonight he couldn't handle anything.

Reiha glared at the kid, then looked down at Korbin. The kid was acting werid, he was trying to hide something and Reiha didn't like it when people tried to hide things from her. Of course the conversation was more between him and her gaurdian though. Adian was acting werid too. He was being curt and almost rude.

Finally handling a situation well she thought to herself with a smile as she stroked her bird.

A look of sheer bewilderment had seemed to befall the young child. His figure had remained tall, stern - though it was apparent an unusual light had been cast upon him. His tawny eyes had grown wider; his mouth had seemed to hang open as if he were utterly disturbed. It was with such expression and shock that he had looked away from the man and back to Reiha - as if he expected her to tame the wild adult he felt had crunched down on him. He had been greeted with nothing more than a glare.

What betrayal he felt - and he did not know any member of the lot. He knew them not by name, not by personality. He knew them as nothing more than strangers on the road in another town. Wrinkling his nose at the girl, Marcello had seemed to decide that he was not particularly fond of her rudeness and silence. "What about you and your bird?" He had retorted Adian's statement. He would not believe that no fountain existed within the town. Mary had mentioned it - and he was certain she had seen it before. How else would she have described it with such vigor and enthusiasm? All at once he had seemed to brush Adian off, choosing to ignore the idea of a parent, guardian, or anything of the sort. It was as if he had none - or as if he had no desire to return immediately. "Have either of you seen a fountain?" His voice had seemed to hold a desperate note. Though he would never admit its existence, it was clear that he wanted whatever fountain he had began seeking. "I-It's big. It's white - and it ..." He had began to simplify and recite Mary's description. Big. White ... "And it has water like nothing the sky's ever seen." He had completed his description, assuming that he had given more than enough information for the girl to understand the importance of the Fountain. It was a marvel. He wanted to see it much more than he wanted to return to the Bus. The only problem was knowing where it was. Just like the Bus, Marcello had no earthly clue which direction to begin in.

Flamefire123
Reiha raised an eyebrow as the kid easily cut Adian out of the conversation. Normally she wouldn't have a problem with that expect she wasn't sure if she really wanted her allience to be with this idiot of a stranger rather than the idiot of guardian she knew Adian was. Reiha gave a little sigh at how she was surrounded by morrons.

"I don't like water." she replied shortly, "Besides, isn't it a little late for a kid like you," Like him, not like her. Reiha wasn't a child. "to be out? You should get your Mu to take you." Reiha was still not entirely sure what a Mu was, she just knew that everyone had one expect her. She had Adian instead of a Mu, but she was okay with that. Mu's told you wnat to do. Reiha hated that. Adian almost never told her what to do anymore.

Adian might be tired but he wasn't stupid, he knew what was going on. The kids cut him out of the conversation. He let out a little sigh and reached up to smack his face, a little hard, enough to keep the sting lingering in his cheek and his hand for a little while, enough to keep to him awake for a moment.

"Kid. Look, I'm tired, and I want to go home. So where the hell are your parents? Or guardians, or what ever?"

Paul Revere
The wind has seemed to shift on Marcello. He could feel his heart pitter-pattering with disdain as his ideas were squashed by a lack of enthusiasm or knowledge. There were many roads of which he could travel. He could find another person to question, or he could return to the Bus and find something to do there. The primary conflict, as it seemed to be, was whether or not he would be admitting defeat - and whether or not he would gain another opportunity within the evening to venture somewhere and be entertained. As his mind reported: Paul provided scarcely a thought of entertainment for a child - and whether or not anyone else would was elusive. He had found compatibility with Ginny and Mary, but the both of them were preoccupied for the evening as it would seem.

As if lost within his own thoughts, Marcello had placed his hands over his eyes and had began to rub at them. His shoulders had shaken somewhat - a few quiet noises slithering from his parted lips. All at once, he had lifted his head again to observe the group of individuals he had stopped. They would be no use to him if he were to find the Fountain. Likely so, they would be no use in finding the truck-stop and the Bus either. They did not appear overly happy to make his acquaintance - how would their enthusiasm in aiding him fare? Staring with a cold, harsh, and distant look, Marcello had seemed to fall within his own contemplation. Then, as if suffering an epiphany, he understood what it was he would need to do in order to get what he wanted. It wasn't as if he had not began down the path in the first place - with lies and distinct inquiries. Keeping a stern face, he had began shaking his head about - a loud snort flittering from his nose. "What's a Mu?" He had murmured before falling back into his focus. Once more the world had turned to the elder-figure, Adian. Marcello's optics had been glued to him. His station had been tuned in instinctively - and - at once - as if it were the overall guarantee that he would receive what he so desired - Marcello spoke a simple idea : "Fountain."

His face was etched with determination and valor. He did not need an escort to the bus at that moment - or to some location where someone could return him like a lost puppy to Paul. All at once, he had seemed to insist that there was no other location of which he could be carefully deposited and forgotten by the strangers. The smirk on his face depicted a feel of utter cockiness - as if he expected his story to be unquestionable. However, for good measure, he chose to mention precisely what he had been fading away from: "And a bus." He had spoken softly, coyly. "At a Truck Stop." His tiny vocals had seemed to quiver with disdain towards the idea of a Truck Stop.

With an irritable shake of his head, Marcello had tossed the News paper he had used away. He had watched it float through the air in scatters and fly into the ground - nothing more than a littering mess that someone else would be forced to attend to. "Fountain and Bus" He had reiterated for Adian - as if expecting him to comprehend it fully.

Flamefire123
"Oh that's ******** it!" Adian snapped in a rare show of temper. He couldn't, and wouldn't, handle this werid a** kid anymore. So he did the simples thing he could think of. He reached down and simply grabed Marc. No more questions, no more conversations, no more fountians. For a man whose living is carring boxes from one place to another Marc was an easy package. He lifted the kid up and just threw him over his shoulder before he started down the street again. He was just sick of this whole damn mess.

"I want to go to bed you little brat." he grumbled, knowing Reiha would follow if only to gloat in this kids face, "And you're not going to deley me any longer. We're going to find a police station and you can stay there till who ever is looking for you finds you. Or you can tell me where the hell your home is and I'll take you there, but we're not going to a damn fountian."

Reiha couldn't stop the grin as the kid was just plucked off the ground like he was nothing. She started to follow Adian, a few steps behind so she could watch the kid's face. She seen Adian like this only once and that was in the car the one time. It was odd how when Adian got mad Reiha felt the safest around him. Maybe because even though Adian was pissed, and he really didn't like this kid right now all he did was pick him up and walk down the street with him.

Korbin snickered too, watching the boy be carried off as he stayed snuggled in Reiha's arms. he could fly, if he felt like it, in fact when they got back he planed on going hunting but he loved being carried by Reiha when they traveled, made him feel loved and safe.

"The boy got what he deserved." Korbin snickered, and fluffed up his feathers when Reiha agreed.

Paul Revere
Marcello had seemed utterly shocked by the display of force and action. At once his eyes had widened. The smug expression that had been plastered to his face had been stripped clean as he realized things were not going to work out as he had initially planned. His world had seemed to spiral downward with the happening. He had thought about shouting for help. However, what good would yelling do him? It would simply land him in a similar scenario. Regardless of it all, impulse had remained increasingly strong. Marcello had seemed to worm about like a skeptical animal heading for the slaughter. A whinny or two had seemed to escape his mouth - loud, shrillful, obnoxious whines of a fearful child. "Lemme go!" He had wailed, his feet kicking - his hands instinctively flailing. "I told you! A Bus! A Truck Stop!" Marcello's voice had seemed to fill with a desperation to be let down - as if the idea of being handled roughly and crudely were horrifying and wrong. He was a boy filled with his own sense of accomplishment and independence. To be handled like live-stock - like cargo - was demeaning and hurtful.

Not quite sure how to explain himself, Marcello had needed to think. His brain had refused to function in an appropriate manner. He knew not how to be put down - which had become the primary goal. The desire for the Fountain had seemed to fade away instantaneously as he became concerned only with his dignity and well-being. Cowardly, craven - he certainly did not hold up to his own ethical code of bravery and determination - of persistence. As it would seem, the tides changed when the dual-of-wit-and-word ceased. Confused and disheveled by the lifting, Marcello had only been left with that fleeting upper-hand and cockiness. Then, as if by a miracle thought, he had shouted out Paul's name - as if believing it were a god-send and that it would do him some justice. After all, Paul was a famous Comedian ... "Paul Revere!" He had coughed out the name - and then he had repeated it - as if it would explain the fact that he had been mentioning a Bus and a Truck Stop.

The flailings had reached a climax before coming to a complete halt. Marcello had grown quiet and still - realizing he had betrayed his original goal in favor of the new one - which likely would do him no good either. His hands had seemed to grab his scarf - then pull at it. Soon his quaking fingers had abandoned the fabric in favor of something more secure - more treasured. He had reached back - as if trying to get to his pockets. It was at that moment that he revealed the old, yellow hanky. It was clutched within his hands like a security blanket - like secret documents he would never release. Nervously, with that sense of shock and distrust, he had gazed at Reiha as she had gazed at him. Oh the unfamiliar. It brought him absolutely no comfort. Biting his lip, his face had turned demanding and enraged. A tacit statement had been made. Simple. Plain. ' Get-a-hold-of-him'.

Flamefire123
Adian had no idea what the kid was talking about. Adian didn't watch stand up, he was more of a sport and wrestling fan, also anything with hot girls in skimpy out fits, that be good too. Not that he got to watch much TV with Reiha to take care of, even if he did he wouldn't know of Paul Revere. So he continued on, not really getting why he was calling out random names and places.

"Kid, i'm going to give you a little advce, try speaking in full sentences or else we're just going to the police station. I'm tired of dealing with you." he told him honestly. "So ether shut up or give me directions to your home in full sentences. I'm not letting you down ether so don't ask for that." He was being up front about it at least.

Korbin snickered, though nether he nor Reiha enjoyed Adian much but they did enjoy this show of Adian freaking out at another kid. Plus there was a certain smugness that Adian could never do that with Reiha. Korbin would be attacking his eyes by now. Korbin fluffed up his feathers a little and just watched the show. He found the whole thing very entertaining.

Reiha watched with a sneer as well. "Whose Paul Revere?" she asked though, taking a few steps forward to make it easier for them to talk. Reiha liked to learn new things and she knew that the kid wouldn't call out that name unless it was special, maybe it was this kid's Mu or something.

Paul Revere
As it seemed, Marcello was in a predicament that he had not imagined himself in prior to exiting the Bus. He had imagined the trip functioning smoothly. He would follow the description he had hear, and he would have a good time with one of the few individuals he felt entertained by. He would return to the Bus, possibly eat, and possibly sleep - as any child would have done. However, his plan had been effectively overrun by error and surprise. Marcello had not calculated such factors. In fact, he had not acknowledged their existence to a great extent. From the start, he had not been particularly surprised with life. He had been defiant - rubbing his ego in the face of fate with the attitude of 'I can't be touched'. Elitist. Proud. Overbearing. Alone and over the shoulder of a strange man, he was forced to accept such ideals and how they defined him. Though, in his benefit, it was safe to say he may have learned a lesson or two regarding swindling information and analyzing who to bother for answers.

Hesitantly, quietly, he had puckered his lips and made a popping noise. A staggering breath had been taken as he had placed his antique-esque hanky against his mouth. All the while his eyes had watched Reiha with that desperation and anger - that commanding air. He had listened cautiously to the lot of them - and he had tried in vain, to remember the precise location of the Bus. He only remembered that there were many trucks - a Gas Station - and a few buildings surrounding the area. If he remembered, one of the stores had been a book store? At least it had contained books. Marcello had not gone inside, and thus he knew nothing of the place. He hardly could remember the name of anything about the area - except that the Truck Stop had contained the name of the town 'Durem'.

Brushing off Adian's question in favor of Reiha's - at least for the moment - Marcello had lowered the hanky from his mouth. Who was Paul Revere? Paul would have said something ridiculous- or he would have told the truth. Paul would have made a joke about the entire ordeal on top of the identity - and he, possibly, would have delivered free tickets were he determined to scout viewers. No. Perhaps not. Regardless, Marcello could only dwell on what Paul might have done were he there to defend his name and explain who he was. Heaving an irritable sigh, Marcello's lips had parted to allot time to speak: "He's Paul."

The information had been vague, almost useless. The unfortunate fact of it was that Marcello was unaware of what to call the man. He had only ever thought to call him by that chosen identity. As if sensing the lacking nature of the information, Marcello had spoken again - seemingly adding on or correcting himself. "I live with him - and Mary, and Ginny ... " He had gone down the list of individuals he lived with, before casting an angry, snarling glare at Adian. "On a Bus."

At that precise moment the focus had changed - and the mood swings had not ceased. Marcello had chosen to distract himself with the emotion. If he spoke - if he argued - then he would not think about those ridiculous mistakes he had made. "Truck. Stop. Bus." He had sneered sarcastically before setting his hanky, once again, near his mouth - as if breathing into it gave him some sort of strength. "It was ... Uhm. By a few stores. A fence was up - and a big sign." He had explained while trying to draw up details. There was only one location he could validate. Unfortunate as it was for him to accept, he had to think of describing the area - the Bus. "I think there was a book store. A Gas ... Station." He had began rambling, as if the information were somewhat valuable.

Flamefire123
Reiha watched the boy, how he sneered every second word, even while being carred in such an embaressing way and how his sneers got him nothing. Still he did it. Reiha had to admire that, a little, the way he didn't back down even after he was beaten. Didn't mean she had to like the kid, or didn't gloat over his lost, but she admired how he handled it, with his chin out and ready to take another punch. He was just lucky that Adian was a good guy.

"He really doesn't understand the idea of full sentences, does he?" Reiha murrmed to Korbin.

"No." the bird sneered, "He really doesn't seem to get it." Korbin snickered and his cold little heart felt nothing for the boy, besides the fact that he was geting what he deserved. When a bird flys the nest too soon they die. The boy was lucky that humans were much kinder to stray young than nature was.

"Good for Paul." Adian grumbled under his breath, "I don't know where that is so we're going to the police station. Let someone whose paid to deal with this s**t deal with it." Normally Adian watched his mouth around kids. Normally Adian wasn't so freaking tired he couldn't keep both of his eyes open at the same time and was almost falling asleep while walking. "And someone with coffee." he added, almost drooling at the thought of caffine. He just needed something to get him the rest of the way home.

Paul Revere
Marcello had seemingly fallen silent for good. He had shut his eyes, set the hanky entirely over his face, and had breathed almost laboriously. He had never been inside of a Police Station - but he had heard more than enough about the Police in passing ear-shot. With those memories in tact, he felt not strong desire to be settled down within such a proximity. In fact, the idea made him nearly regret leaving. He should have left sooner and tailed behind Mary - or he should have simply sat down and tried to figure something else to do while the adults talked of events long since passed. The fact of the matter was that he had landed himself in a grave situation. Not only was he lost, but he was powerless as to how the situation would be handled!

Having resigned to defeat, the boy had appeared undoubtedly annoyed. His sense of self-entitlement had seemed to shine through - his odd irritation, his snorting cockiness. Though defeated, he still raged on - as if it were the only thing he had to do given the scenario.

That had changed soon into his breathing and mumbling ritual. A clumsy motion had ended in the discarding of the hanky. Marcello's tawny eyes had grown enormous as he had followed it on the brief gust of wind - his jaw opening and his heart shattering. "My Hanky!" He had yelped - his voice containing that similar panic to having been picked up. Yet, he seemed distinctly more desperate and hysteric as the item began to disappear from his sight. He had began squirming - as if trying to reach it - and it was at that point that he saw a rather unlikely figure emerge from the crowd. Salvation had found him - and it had saved his comfort-possession! Or had it?

Brisk steps had been made. Every tap had seemed to take on a rhythmic pattern as he drew nearer and nearer. The hanky had been captured - clutched in a fist like a scrap of useless paper intended for settling anger in a nonviolent way. Regardless, the rage in the eyes of the figure was evident. It shimmered like something unknown - and it characterized his face to that of a passionate individual. Certainly the emotion was strong - and, perhaps that was a good thing - for it was what delivered the attention accordingly.

It was Paul - and, for once, Marcello had sensed a pang of valiance and dedication in his features. The man had tucked the hanky into his own pocket and had seemed to rattle his fingers while approaching the group from behind; then, without warning or care, he had spoken in a grizzly tone - inferring something to humane conditions and civil rights - whatever that was intended to propose. "Kids are not hunted game, sir - and I'll ask you kindly to put mine down."

Flamefire123
Reiha was actually taking a few steps to grab the hanky when it was snatched. There was a difference between laughing at him in an embaressing postion and him loosing something precious to him. Reiha was mean, but never honestly cruel. She'd return the hanky just as she knew Adian would try to grab it as well, they weren't bad people just Reiha was mean, Korbin WAS cruel and Adian was tired.

They didn't want to deal with a bratty kid.

Reiha stoped though when she saw the man step out from the crowd to snatch the hanky and start to aproch them. The girl went quiet and steped back to quietly watch this new devolpment.

"who would have known that walk home would be more interesting than the book store?" Reiha whispered to Korbin before the pair giggled to each other. They weren't tired, they found this whole mess to be utterly interesting.

Adian did turn to seek out the hanky only to watch a man strode up to him. Even in his state he saw the fight in the man's eyes, he was ready, wanting, to start a fight with Adain and honestly the man understood but that didn't mean he was gong to get into a fist fight over an annoyence he was more than ready to get rid of.

"It's about ******** time." Adian just said, and shoved the kid into Paul's hands. "Your kid is freaking anoying! He wont say a full sentence to save his life, he acts like he's my freaking boss AND he keeps on going about some fountian." Adian let out an anoyed sigh, "Keep on a leash or something, because I was utterly ready to just dump him at a police station. I am NOT in the mood to deal with this s**t."

Paul Revere
Marcello had emitted an audible 'umph' noise as he was handed over to Paul. His jacket had seemed to flitter with the rushed breeze - and his hair had seemed to fall out of its neat position. It had become disheveled and rushed; it had become sloppy - and unnecessarily so. To further the crisis: he had been quickly set on the ground - though his shirt collar had been roughly gripped to hold him firmly in place.

Needless to say, he was unhappy with the situation and had began looking for an immediate escape from it. He did not like being handled in such a brutal way. It stripped him of his power - of his pride - of his rights! Where was the dignity in behind held by the shirt-collar? Squirming uncomfortably, Marcello had looked about for Reiha and Korbin, as if either of the two could some how help him. Then again, it had not occurred to him that neither of them had tried to help him before. Still he searched; still he sought that escape from the handling.

Paul's eyes had rolled down to the little boy. They were distinctly enraged - and it seemed to be a general feeling of disdain. Without thinking, his grip on the boy had tightened as he had listened to Adian yelling before shouting back - his own rashness swarming about his mind. "And I'm sure you were handling the situation to a full and proper extent - who carries a kid like cargo?" He had scoffed - although he had seemed to grasp the situation better. The fight had not died - the fire had not been extinguished. If anything, it had been fed - and whatever Paul would do as a result was for anyone to guess. Exactly where the rage was direct was scarcely know. At Adian? At Marcello? At the entire realm of the world?

Inhaling a deep breath, Paul had returned his gaze to Marcello. "You are in hell of deep, pip-squeak." He had hissed. Clearly his breathing had done nothing to settle him down. almost instantaneously, he had tossed the boy's collar, lightly shoving him in the manner of a distraught and seething sibling. "Move a muscle and I'll chain you to a seat when we get back. I didn't sign up to worry about you consistently!" Paul's finger had pointed. The seriousness in his eyes had been almost absurd - almost crazy.

Marcello had not imagined such seriousness ever before. Suddenly the situation had taken on a new light. Whether or not that was good was for anyone to guess - but Marcello had settled his opinion on the negative standing.

"Freaking annoying as hell - I'll give you that one." Paul had stated. Surprisingly, his voice had become calmer - as if the rage had been directed explicitly towards Marcello at that point in time. "He doesn't listen - just stares at you and expects you to get it - walks right off into the middle of no where without saying a damn thing." His head was shaken. A feverish breath had been sent through the teeth as Paul ran his hand through his hair. Quickly, he had ruffled it and let out a loud and annoyed grumble. "But let me get this straight - what the hell were you doing to him?"

Flamefire123
Adian yawned deeply, normally he might care a little but right now he really didn't. As long as Paul didn't hit the kid in front of him Adian wasn't going to stand up for the anoying little brat. At least Reiha spoke in full sentences. And the fact that he was quickly getting roped into a conversation was not helping him, so he figured he better just continue to yawn.

"I was taking him to a police station." Adian told him, as if it it was obvious. "the little runt wouldn't move on his own so I forced it. I'm not exactly in the mood to be nice. I've been working over time all this week, and it's late and I just want to go to bed." he complained. "So yeah, I know that's not how you hold a kid but I'm not in the mood to do things right." Adian explained quickly, not apologizing in the least.

Reiha did nothing to help her fellow Passenger, she felt no urge too, not when watching the grown ups push him back and forth was so funny. At least till Paul started to yell, then Reiha fle ther good humor melt away and just uncomfortable fear fill her. She forced it down though, refusing to be afraid of the man. He wasn't much bigger than Adian, and she had Korbin on her side, she'd be fine.

Paul Revere
Paul's mind had been a jolt of searing disdain. He could feel the steam coming from his ears. He could feel his teeth grinding together and his hands clenching. Point blank. The way the situation would work. Back to the site. Drop the kid off. Go for a walk. That's what they suggested. Perhaps he'd grab something decent to eat. Certainly there was something decent within the town - and sweet.

Now and again, Paul's eyes would shift from Adian to Marcello. Finally he had set a hand to his forehead and had rubbed his eyes. He supposed the situation was more than understandable. The police station was where people took lost kids. Where else would they settle them? He supposed he was a lucky man to run into the lot of them. The last thing he would have wanted was to deal with police officers and their endless questioning over why Marcello had been wandering the streets in the dead of night. Alone. But the fact of the matter was that Marcello was a child. His by a shrewed default of fate and responsible integrity, but his no less - and he had not done his job.

Maybe he needed to invest in a GPS device. A tracking collar.

"Understandable." Paul had snorted. His fingers had continued to massage his eyes until he had paused to look over his shoulder. "Well thank you for the action. While unorthodox, at least it wasn't murder." No explanation had been given for the statement. Paul had simply grabbed Marcello's arm and had taken one step forward. "Sorry for the waste of time."

Marcello's mouth had fallen agape. A brief glimmer of terror had been stricken in his eyes the moment his arm had been seized and they had began moving. As if shamed by the feeling of fear, he had bit down on his lower lip and had turned his eyes towards another surrounding. Reiha and Korbin. For a time, he had seemed to stare, but soon he had felt his feet shuffling and could hear his own foot steps as the traveling began once more. Clearly Paul wanted no time wasted.

Shame. He'd never gotten to see his fountain - and as he trudged along he could find no one to place blame onto. In fact, the only thing he could find was a sudden feeling of bewilderment and amusement over what had happened. It was something ... New. It wasn't cleaning the bus. It wasn't watching the adults. He had done something. For no general reason, Marcello had smiled at the bird, the girl, and the man who had treated him as nothing more than luggage; then he had looked away, following Paul away into the crowd.

A Few Questions for a Confused Young Man

Adain sighed a little as he waved off Chel. Their day together was great but now that she was heading home he was a little worried that being jobless would depress her. Adain pulled back and closed the door, folding his arms. His feelings for Chel confused him. While the word love made him want to balk but at the same time....He had offered Chel his home with no questions asked. He couldn't be in love could he? No...he didn't want that path again.

"So what was that about?" Reiha asked dryly from the kitchen entrence. She had Korbin in one hand and a sandwhich in the other. She took a big bite and looked over her guardian. They hadn't said much to each other since Adain's depression, like they weren't entirely sure where they stood but Reiha was tired of that, she'd take her first step and make sure she firmed herself in more of a roommate and less of a child position, while she had the chance.

"What was what about?" Adain asked, his mental war stopping as he looked over to the girl. How a girl so young could look so old was a mystery that Adain was sure he'd never solve. It was so weird, at times he could have sworn Reiha was all the way grown up and other times she seemed older than him. Not for the first time he wished he could help her, know what she went though, perferably with out her having to remember it.

"You came home early, with Chel, sent me outside so you could nail her." Reiha's blunt ways still were a surpise to Adain. Though the really surpising part was Reiha's aparent apathy to his love life. Normally she despised the idea of him getting some. It made him grin as he realized she was trying to lighten up a little. Good.

"No moral objections to that?" Adain teased a little as Reiha took another bite of her sandwhich and shrugged a little.

"I've decided what you do doesn't matter, I mean I do got food, and books and crap." That was pretty good coming from Reiha, she was pretty use to having things her way and her way only, but at least she was starting to compermise. "But then you called me in for lunch and seemed like you fawning over her. Why?" Reiha demanded, wanting to know what was going on. "Doesn't Chel work?"

Adain look at her and gave her a small smile. "You're too smart for your own good Rei Rei." he teased, having the pleasure of watching Reiha's lips twitch in anoyence. Adain walked over and ruffled her hair, ignoring the death glare from Korbin. "But yeah, Chel would normally be at work." Adain admited as he headed to the kitchen to clean up.

"And?" Reiha followed him out, frowning a little.

"And...she got fired today." Adain admited, grabing the dishes. Reiha was good about keeping the place tidy but there was some things that the small girl couldn't do easily, and the dishes were one of them. he was sure that by the time she got big enough those chores would just be taken care of. It was kind of nice.

"Why?"

"Well...you remembered how I got depressed?" Adain asked, feeling a little embaressed. It was weird to bring up yourself to discuss another's problems but it was all tied together.

"Yeah? So?" Reiha asked, frowning in that memory. Thoes time had been so mild compared to the violent feelings they inspired in her but Reiha just shook her head and finnished her sandwhich.

"Well I got like that because of one of Chel's coworkers. It was this girl I dated in high school. I thought I loved her and she used me that against me. Now that she managed to uh...trick the bosses into hiring her and keeps on making others do her work and well she started to threaten Chel's job so Chel...quit." Adain tried to keep it clean though when he was done Reiha just snorted.

"So she slept her way up the later and in jealousy of Chel who has her ex boyfriend and earned her postion, and to save her repuatation Chel gambled that the men upstairs would want her more than this slut and quit, but now is worried that her gamble wont pay off so you took here here to stop her from worring to much." Reiha brushed crumbs off her hand as she sumed up the situation with surpising clarity.

Adain blinked once as he nodded slowly, "Uh...well...yeah. Basically." he admited, rubbing the back of his head.

"You know this isn't your fault right?" Reiha asked, glancing up at him, "The slut would dislike Chel no matter what. Chel proves that a woman doesn't need looks to get somewhere in a feild."

Adain blinked again and just stared, how could she see all this? He hadn't said a single thing about guilt. Hell he hadn't even really thought about it. Adain watched as Reiha started to leave, pausing just before exiting the kitchen to look back to Adain again.

"You're pretty stupid sometimes Adain. Don't be stupid now, kay?" Reiha turned and left on that note, leaving a very confused young man to stare at the space she use to occupy.

An Unusual Visit

Adain let out a sigh as he steped out of the bedroom, turning around and let out a small yelp when he saw Reiha right there. He knew that she would be wondering what was going on he just didn't know he'd trip over her the second he steped out of the room. He sighed as he looked down at the girl who was glaring up at him.

"You want to know why Chel is here passed out huh?" Adain asked as he glanded into his bed room, seeing Chel sprawled out on his bed and just felt worry. No minor horniess worked it's way though, not when Chel was so clearly sick. She still looked pale and her eyes were sunk in. She'd proably be starved when she woke up but who knew when that would be?

"That would be on question I have yes." Reiha muttered, staring at Adain suspiously. "I thought you said she wouldn't talk to you?" she added. It had been two weeks since Chel came over after loosing her job and one week since she got it back and since then Adain had been moping around like a lost puppy because Chel hadn't called him. She just rolled her eyes at him but now he finally brought her back and she looked like hell.

"The truth is I don't know, but I'm worried. I went to her work because I was worried about how she wouldn't talk to me and aparently that week without her made her really behind and she was trying to get caught up or something. All I know was that she was working herself to death and no one in that damn building was doing a thing to stop her." Adain groweled a little as his hands fisted. He still couldn't believe those geeks were so out of touch they couldn't tell that Chel needed to go home, needed rest.

Reiha glanced at the door then to Adain as she looked down at Korbin. What would cause reasonable Chel to do a thing like that? Reiha didn't like the sound of that but glanced up at Adain, he needed to let out some steam, to bad he proably wouldn't leave with Chel in his room.

"Why don't you go get some food for dinner?" Reiha started to suggest.

"How in the world can you be thinking about your stomach at a time like this?" Adain groweled, surpised at REiha, she was always a little distent from the world but he never thought she'd be that selfish.

"I'm not." Reiha said slowly, "It's just if she hasn't been sleepign then it's unlike she's been eating too. You should make something big for her to eat when she wakes up. And we need to go shopping anyway. I'll stay here and watch over her, though it's unlikely she'll wake up. You should go shopping and then start cooking, okay?" Reiha asked, wanting to give him something to do.

That sounded reasonable, really reasonable actually. So reasonable that Adain nodded slowly. "Yeah, I'll make her soemthing filling and good, call me if she wakes up, okay?" Adain asked as he started to head downstairs, he'd need to make a list, do something normal to ward off the worry.

"I will." Reiha muttered as she headed to her room to get a book. If she was going to watch someone sleep she'd like something to do while she did.

Morianna
Ixchel hadn't even stirred for the past 6 hours, but around 6:30 she started shifting in the bed.

Her eyes fluttered open blearily before she gave another little groan.. She felt awful.. WHat had happened? Her memories of the past week were in a slight haze..

And she was hungry too..

Opening her eyes a bit more she reluctantly sat up and peered around before her eyes snapped open.. This was not her house..

Flamefire123
Adain stired the soup he was making for Chel, glancing over to see Reiha drawing quietly a few feet away. He then glanced over to watch Korbin watching both of them. Well watching him, watching over Reiha.

"Reiha, will you check on her?"

"You are so far gone." Reiha muttered as she finnished some final strokes on her picture. "She's fine. Just over worked, just needs some food and she already got her rest."

But Reiha jumped down from herchair and headed upstairs, Korbin fluttering after her of course. When she reached Adain's room she knocked on the door then just walked in. For Reiha a knock was an anouncement, not a request for permission.

Morianna
Chel jumped at the knock and glanced at the door only too see Reiha stride in.. Recognitions set in. Of course.. She was at Adain.. At least she knew that much.

"I.. Hi Reiha.." She said, feeling a bit awkward.. What had happened, and why.. why did she feel so tired..

Flamefire123
Reiha looked at herand tilted her head to the side. "So you like to over work huh?" she asked. The odd little girl understanding. "That proably work 'cause Erik is use to rolling over and Scruffy doesn't know you well but Adain isn't gonna like that much I think. He was nearly sweating bullets while you slept. I finally told him to cook something so he'd stop pacing in front of the door." Reiha knew she'd feel guilty about that but Reiha knew that help her to getting better maybe.

Morianna
For a moment Chel looked confusd, before her eyes widened and her cheeks went crimson.. "No.." She whispered, lookign away from Reiha and thinking hard..

"I.. It's a.. it's.. psychosis type thing.. I... I" Her hands were shaking.. "I get so.. so into my work that I have something like a blank out.. All.. All I can do think of doing is work.." She said her voice low.. "I.. I can't remember anything.. it's like.. autopilot.. I guess." She said ashamed. She hadn't had an episode in so long..

Flamefire123
Reiha tilted her head to the side. "Well what ever it is, it worried Adain to death. I think he's kind of clingy right now because he's not use to girls sticking with him." she mentioned, "I mean you're the only girl that he likes that I've met. Mostly because I don't give a damn about them but." she shrugged, and stroked Korbin. "Ether way, you might want to explain what happened to Adain before he looses that final part of his mind that works. He's making you dinner."

Morianna
Chel nodded.. Registering the slight sign of approval Reiha had given her at saying she didn't care a damn about 'most'. "I'll go tell him now..." She said, moving and swinging her legs over the bed. Standing up, she felt a head-rush and sat back down quickly holding her head.. How long had this episode been? It had to have lasted at least 4 days to have gotten her that bad.

Looking up at Reiha she tried to smile.. "I.. could you tell him I'm awake, please.." She said, obviously embarrassed to even be asking such of thing..

Flamefire123
"No rpoblem." Reiha held Korbin closer for a moment and he fluttered over to the bed, giving Chel a glare as Reiha walked out of the room alone. Clearly she left Korbin there to guard, or watch, Chel. Korbin seemed a little miffed at the whole injustice of it.

Luckily he didn't have to wait long for Reiha to return with Adain. Korbin flew to her and the girl quietly left the pair alone. Or...at least made it seem like they were alone.

Adain had the bowl of soup in hand which he palced on the night stand near her. "Are you okay Chel? Did you sleep enough? Are you hungry? I made soup. I don't know what kind you like so I made chicken noodle, I hope that's okay." Adain was rambling.

Morianna
Chel looked up and tried to smile for Adain as he walked in, but failed. He was obviously worried, and it was her fault. She should have known when to stop herself..

"I'm a bit hungry and chicken noodle sounds delicious.." She said, purposely not answering the other two questions as she looked away from Adain to get the soup.. She had been doing so well.. Almost 2 years without an episode, only to break down like this and with him..

Flamefire123
Adain handed her the soup bowl and then sat next to her, his hands moving up to give her a light massage, she seemed tense.

"What happened back there Chel?" Adain asked slowly, "You were so out of it. You didn't even reconize me at first. I had to tell you who I was."

Morianna
She slumped at his touch.. How could she tell him? How would he react when he found out she was.. well.. crazy seemed rather fitting.. Would he leave her? She had disappointed him afterall..

Holding the soup in her hands and staring at it for a moment she sighed.. "I.. I have this.. problem.." She started already feeling the shame fill her.. "Sometimes when I work a bit too much, I have a sort of.. episode.. It's like my brain's running on autopilot and top on the priority list is work.. I.. I can't remember what.. what happens.."

She bit her lip embarrassed. "I've gone to therapy for it and everything. I thought I had it under control, I hadn't had an episode in over 2 years... but.." SHe trailed off, not able to look at him, to see his reaction to finding out she was nuts.

Flamefire123
"But you lost your job, which you loved and when you came back you were so glad to be back and so behind that you just went into another eppisode." Adain murrmered, still massaging her back. "Maybe you should try to find another therapist. You know, try to get this undercontrol again." his hands moved down her back slowly, still massaging till he got to her waist, then they just wraped around her.

"I didn't like you like that Chel. It was scary. I can't believe no one at your work noticed." Adain let out a small growl, anoyed at how they just let her get like that without noticing or careing, hell they just gave her more work. They should have been more aware! They could have lost Chel again, this time for good.

Morianna
She nodded. That had been exactly what had happened. The workload had piled up too much too fast and she'd just lost control.. She leaned into him slightly as he wrapped his arms around her..

"I'll have to.." She said. She knew better than to leave this unchecked. Her worst episode lasted 15 days and she had been hospitalized and everything. She didn't want to be the far gone ever again..

At his comment about her work she just sighed. She wasn't surprised. They were scientists.. Loners. Most of the people there were antisocial to the extreme. Making sure the soup was safe on her lap she placed a soft hand on Adain's arm.

"I'm sorry, Adain." She whispered..

Flamefire123
"Shhhhh, it's not your fault." he murrmed, nuzzling her. "Look, now you're aware of your problem, you'll be more apt to reconize the signs and you know to get help." Adain pointed out. "This is just a little relasp, it's not like you're back to square one, just a few steps back from where you were a few days ago." Adain hugged her tight and kissed the top of her head.

"And you now got me looking out for yah, so if anything happens I'll make it doesn't go to far." Adain promised, "Especailly if you alert me to any early signs that you might have. Then I can be on the watch out too." Adain wasn't going to let her get depressed over this. He just wanted her to eat well and get a good nights sleep before work tomorrow.

And he would have to have a talk with her co-workers. Geeks or not he wasn't going to let Chel beg for help right under their noses and have them ignore her because numbers make more sense than human beings.

Morianna
Chel felt her heart twist at his words.. He.. He wan't leaving her. He was worried. He was going to look out for her.. Shaking slightly as a smile filled her face she looked down at the soup and started to eat slowly..

"I.. thank you, Adain.." She said. "You're right.. I.. I just need to keep myself in check, and tell people what to look out for.. I can't let myself fall back.. I won't.." She said, determined as she took a few more sips of his soup..

Flamefire123
"No you wont. Not with me here, and Reiha, and Erik and even Scruffy." Adain told her, "Oh and Berial, shouldn't forget him. You got so many people who care for you, none of us are going to let you down." he promised, kissing the back of her neck.

Adain didn't even know what he did. He was so wraped up in his worry, in her physical problems, that he missed her utterly lack of ego, he just did what felt natural to him. Fluff her ego till she felt better. that's how it worked for most people.

Morianna
Chel smiled broadly as he listed the people. He was right. She had people now.. If Adain could accept her problem, she was sure Erika and Scruffy could as well (though she was quite sure Erik had a pretty good idea there was SOMETHING wrong with her)..

"and I won't let you down.." She said, finishing off the soup he gave her and setting the bowl on the nighttable before moving her arms to hug him back.. "I promise.."

Flamefire123
Adain grined and hugged her close. "You're awsome you know that?" he murrmered to her. "You're just utterly awsome." He nuzzled her lovingly and gave her another kiss.

Morianna
Part of her screamed that no.. She wasn't awesome. She wasn't awesome at all. She was damaged and psycho and crazy..

But she couldn't even bear to say that to Adain and the kiss just pushed it back in his mind.. Smiling up at him she held him close.. "I.. I.. I'm still a bit tired.. will.. will you rest with me?" She asked softly.. She just wanted him here..

Flamefire123
Adain laughed and nodded, "I don't think a girl ever asked me to do that with her before." he teased, even as he got up to grab the soup bowl. "Let me just take care of Reiha, kay? It's her bed time, then I need to clean the kitchen." he realized and frowned, then shrugged, he could do that tomorrow at least. "Or not, doesn't matter, I'll just put reiha in bed and come back." he promised.

Morianna
"I don't think I've ever asked a guy to do it with me before.." She replied back, a bit more cheerful, now that the truth was out and Adain seemed.. well as alright as he could be with his girlfriend mental problems.

"Take your time... It's not like I'm going anywhere.." She joked..

Flamefire123
Adain smile changed when she said that and he tilted his head slightly to ust look at her, stratched out so comfortable (and with so many clothes on) on his bed. It wasn't as bad, or scary, as he feared it could be.

"You're additicting Chel." he muttered, then turned to leave, walking down the stairs to see Reiha doing the last of the dishes.

Flamefire123
Adain streatched out on the bench, letting the sun rays battle with the half of bottle of sunscreen he put over his skin hoping that he could avoid his anual sunburn. He was sure the sun would win, he always did, but it was worth it to relax for the day. Everything was going well, Chel was at his side, the brat and the squirt were out playing and things have just been going well lately.

"Days like this make life worth it." Adain told Chel, glancing over her and grined brightly at her. Oh boy he always loved how woman dressed in the summer but summer with Chel was epsecially sweet.

Morianna
Chel nodded in agreement, lounging next to him. Glad for the warm weather, she gave a lazy yawn as she stretched. "You said it.." She said, having put on a little less sunblock than Adain. She wasn't quite as prone to burning as some of her other family (*cough*Erik*cough*) but she had to watch out if she didn't want her tan to turn into lobster red.

"If only the summer could last forever.. I can't stand winter clothing." She said giving another lazy stretch, all the time keeping one eye open and on the kids.

Berial was frowning deeply as he stood next to Reiha, rubbing at his arms and pouting. "It's sticky.." He said, complaining about the copious ammounts of sunscreen Erik had plowed on him before letting him leave with Chel.

Flamefire123
Adain watched as a jogger ran by and just grined, "Me too, me too." he said softly, watching the exersised butt jog off before turning his attention back to Chel. Adain didn't cheat, didn't get anywhere close, but he liked to look still. He imgained only gays truely didn't like to look and even then they just liked looking at a different gender. Why hide it? Besides, it was Chel that he truly wanted, no one else.

Adain of course forgot to douse Reiha up but with her darker complextion she was much less likely to get a burn than anyone else in their little group. She grined at Berial and reached over to rub it deeper into his skin. "It will get better." she promised.

Morianna
Chel didn't seem to mind, or simply didn't say anything as she found a comfortable spot on the bench to catch some rays..

"Chel? Is that you?"

Chel groaned as she propped an eye open to see who it was. That phrase never brought good things for her.. Her frown lifted slightly as she saw who it was. "Lance?" He nodded and Chel grinned. He had been an old school friend of hers. "Wow.. What a surprise to see you here."

Lance nodded. Even though he was dressed in casual attire, he still gave off this air of professionalism, of.. well of money. He smiled easily. "Well I'd heard a lot about the place and decided to check it out. The medical system here in Gaia seems pretty neat, I was thinking of setting up a practice." He didn't even ask about Adain, brushing him off as just someone who was sitting on the bench next to her.

Berial pouted even as Reiha tried to spread the sunscreen more, ignoring the tingling feeling that shot up his arm as she ran her fingers across the blight. "It's so gross.. and it's on my nose too.." He said, rubbing at where there had once been a solid stripe of white.

Flamefire123
It proably wasn't helpful that Adain was already distracted by another girl again, but his attention went up to the man as soon as he heard the pleasure in Chel's voice. He glanced over him critqually and then just smiled as he sat up a bit taller.

Adain was always into being nce, especailly if he's friends with Chel. Besides he'd have to stake his claim soon or else the guy might think she was free. Which she wasn't, at all, or going to be anytime soon.

"Hey, I'm Adain." he introduced, placing a claiming hand on Chel but streatched the other out for a handshake.

"Erik is just a bit over protective." Reiha asured him as she moved to rub the rest of the lotioan away from the nose and all over his face before she grined, "there, better?"

Morianna
"I'm Lance. Pleasure.." He said politely.

"Adian. Lance and I went to college together." She said to Adain, introducing her friend to her boyfriend, afterall, before she scooted over closer to Adain to allow Lance some room to sit with them. Lance just noticed Adain's hand on Chel's as he sat.

"So.. how do you know Chel?" He asked..

Berial screwed up his face as Reiha rubbed the lotion on it.. "yeah.." He said. "But why do I need to wear it. 'm not gonna touch the sun. I won' get burn!"

Flamefire123
adain attempted to keep the grin even though he could hear the distain the man's voice. Adain did not look rich. His shorts were torn away jeans and his shirt had a stain, but it was Adain's favorite so he wasn't going to throw it away.

"yeah...uh same. Well my brat over there." Adain pointed to Reiha who was currently standing close with Berial, "is best friends with Erik's squirt, the kid next to her, and so we met though him." Adain explained, grining at him again.

Reiha laughed as she rubbed Berial's excess over her hands and face, the only part of her skin showing, even in the hot summer sun she wore long sleeve shirt and pants, not one to let the hot sun get in the way of her own true comfort.

"Berial, the sun is touching you." she explained, "You see the sun sends out rays which reach way, way out from the sun and touch your skin, it's how come you feel warm right now, and if the sun touches your skin for too longer it could burn you but this block helps you."

Morianna
Lance looked at Adain, then at Chel, then at the kids and his face cracked into a smile. "Oh. Cute girl." He said, before, turning to Chel.

"But I'm really surprised to see you. I mean it's been a while. If it's alright with you, would you join me for dinner tomorrow night? We can catch up." He wasted no time.

Chel put a finger on her lips, thinking.. "tomorrow.." She scratched her head. She thought had something to do tomorrow, but then again her boss rattled off dates that often got mixed up with the actually important ones, so she was unsure... "I think I have something.. If you have a number where I can reach you, I could call though.."

Berial looked up towards where the sun was blaring and pouted. "Do all light send out ray? like stars? If m' out at night, do I need block too for stars?"

Flamefire123
"Hey, that sounds like fun." Adain mentioned, imaging a night at a bar or something. He really wanted to go out but so often Chel just came over while Reiha was around and so it wasn't like he could drink. Adain missed being able to just drink now and then honestly, but still it just made it nicer when he got it. "I could use a time out. And Chel you're free tomorrow." Adain reminded her, "You mentioned it to me yesterday about how tomorrow was the only day you have free for several weeks, you were gonna come over but going out sounds a lot more fun." Adain admited.

"Well yes stars send out beams but they're soooooo far away that the beams get realy weak by the time they reach you that you don't need the block, bt the sun is close there for you do need it."

Morianna
Chel beamed at Adain's words. "Thanks for reminding me. You know how my boss can get." She said, kissing him on the cheek before turning. "We'd love to accept your invitation, Lance." She said then, smiling.

Lance looked like a crushed puppy for a moment, before composing himself. "I.. are you dating him?" He finally asked, his voice incredulous.

Chel just gave Adain's hand a squeeze and smiled. "Yeah.." She said happily..

"But I thought you didn't date!" Lance exclaimed, obviously upset..

"Well, I didn't.. But well.. then I met Adain." She said.. That was kind of how it had worked out after all. Then a look of realization crossed her face. "Oh, but we wouldn't want to impose.. you asked me, but I did promise Adain, so.."

"No it's fine.. He can come too." He said, shotting a nasty look t Adain. What did Chel see in the man?

Berial nodded as he listened to her and sighed. "It's kinda annoyin'.." He said, in respect to the sun. He never quite liked it. It didn't feel right to him.

Flamefire123
Adain grined at the kiss and returned a quick one to her lips before glancing up to see Lance's crush look. After that he shifted ever so slightly. His arm falling around Chel's shoulders, hand landing on her wrist, body turned twords her. Little things that said very clearly mine.

"We were each other expections." Adain told him, "I didn't date ether, but, well Chel is worth it." he grined and nuzzled just under her ear. "Don't worry dude, it will be fun, I wont get in your way."

Reiha smiled, "Yeah, it kinda is but if we didn't have it then plants couldn't grow and that be bad." she told him, "come on, we can play in the shade."

Morianna
Lance watched Adain's body language and frowned. "I guess. Can I call you tonight? With the time and place?" He asked Chel, ruffling in his dockers and procuring a pen.

Chel, still grinning at Adain's words, nodded, taking the pen, then Lance's hand and proceeded to scribble her number across the back of his hand. "There.."

Berial smiled and nodded before turning to look at the adults.. He giggled. "If Aunt Chel used a per'ment marker, that'd be funny."

Flamefire123
Adain didn't stiffen when Chel grabed his hand. Chel said the word love, and since she gave up dating he was sure it wasn't a commonly used word for her. So unless he catches her doing something that couldn't be just friends Adain would at least try to be calm about it.

Besides, she wanted to be with him, if she didn't she could leave any time but she was always at his house (though they hadn't offically moved intogether Adain was trying to think of something to say to ask her too again), Chel was his, and Adain wasn't planing on letting go.

Reiha glanced at the adults too and giggled before she noticed the new man really, "He has money." she mentioned slowly, eyes focusing and then frowning deeply. "Probly hates anyone who isn't rich like him."

Morianna
Lance started at his hand oddly for a moment before smiling. "I'll call you tonight then.."

"Alright."

He stood there awkwardly for a moment, before turning. "uh.. bye." He said, and walked away..

Chel looked over at Adain and smiled. "a night out.. we haven't done that in a long time.."

Berial watched him slightly.. "Tha's rude.." He said, but noticed him leaving. "Maybe Adain told him to go'way."

Flamefire123
"No, we haven't." Adain realized. He'd have to take Chel out soon, just the two of them. They never really went out on dates much. Nether one of them were dates kind but just where would he take Chel too? Would she like his kind of resturant? He really didn't know what she'd like most, date wise.

Reiha laughed a little at Berial, "You're proably right, especailly because he was hitting on your Aunt Chel." she added, not really realizing how Berial took slang most of the time.

Morianna
Stretching again, she shifted to retake her comfortable lounging position on the bench. "I just hope Lance picks a good place.. I mean, I'm open minded and all, but those neko bars just kinda creep me out sometimes.."

His eyes widened. "I didn' see him hit Aunt Chel. Is she alright?" He took a second look. "She don' look hurt." He said, now worried. Why would a man hit his Aunt Chel? She was nice!

Flamefire123
Adain thought about it, "I know some guys really into nekos but I was never fond of the claw thing." he admited and shrugged, "Then again before you I was into anyone hot." he grined at her, "Now I'm into anyone that's you." he leaned in and nuzzled her neck again.

Reiha stiffened at the mention of hitting and then realized what Berial was refering too, "Oh, no, hitting on is slang Berial, for flirting. He wants to date Chel the way Adain is dating Chel but girls aren't suppose to date two guys at once."

Morianna
Chel couldn't fight the blush that overtook her cheeks. "Honestly, Adain. You're going to give me cavities being that sweet." She said jokingly.. She liked it when he was like this though, holding her and saying (almost sickeningly) sweet things to her. It was.. nice.

Berial seem to relax as Reiha explained and nodded. "Ah.." He said. People should really say what they meant.. Lookign over at the adults he tilted his head. "But Aunt Chel seems to like Adain like that. Do you think she'll say yes to the rich guy?"

Flamefire123
"You like it though." Adain smiled at her, "I like the way you look when you smile." That didn't have the air of flirting or flatering, just honest truth as he looked at her. Maybe he felt the need to remind her why she was with him but mostly it was just the truth. "I like knowing I can make you happy."

Reiha had to work on it at least, this is a lot better then the nail eppisode when they first spent the night together. That was bad. "No, I don't think so. She says she loves Adain." Reiha's tone of voice said exactly how she felt about that little admission. there was a slight sneer and she looked away. "that means she'll do anything to get Adain to love her back."

Morianna
Chel smiled and nodded, feeling a small blush rise in her cheeks as she said that. "do I make you happy too?" She asked, trying to keep it casual, but she'd like t know.. Did she make him happy the way he made her happy?

Berial nodded weakly before looking over to Reiha. "Wassat mean? To love someone.." He asked softly. He could tell it meant a lot, from the way people spoke of it, and the Disney movies Erik had gotten him, but how did you know..

Flamefire123
"Everyday." Adain told her and smiled before hugging her close, "I know I'm kinda slow on the up take Chel, and I'm sorry I don't know myself too well but you do make me happy."

"When you love someone is when you never want to be away from them, it's when you're willing to sarfice anything to make them happy, it's when you'd die if they told you too." Reiha said shortly, "It's when you feel like you'd do anything to make yourself perfect for them, but they're already perfect for you. Love only works when both people are in love, otherwise it destoryes your life."

Morianna
Chel smiled.. "no hurry.." She told him. She knew he had a hard time and she wasn't going to push him. His words, his actions, they showed what she needed to know. Settling herself near him, she just smiled happily as the sunlight fell on them.

Berial stood there thinking for a moment looking at Chel before turning to Reiha. "it sounds complicated." He said, frowning. In the movies everyone always seemed to happy with love, but the way Reiha explained it..

Flamefire123
Reiha watched the two then looked away, "It is. Come on, lets go play, I don't want to talk about this anymore." she said shortly, grabing his hand and walking off, trying hard not to get Berial upset but she didn't like thinking about love.

Adain grined, this is why he liked Chel so much, she just didn't preassure, didn't push, didn't beg. Just let him move at his own pace.

Am I Good Enough?

Adain glanced at Reiha's door, wondering if he should make sure she's in bed, then smiled, deciding to just trust the babysitter. He was a little late thanks to a visit to Chel's aparetment but he knew that Reiha would be fine. Besides he had other things on his mind than little girls who acted like young women. Adain walked into his room rubbing his head as she striped to his boxers before pulling on the pjs he left on the floor last night. He was more messy in his own space than the rest of the house, mostly because Reiha kind of bugged him about the rest of the space.

The man wasn't feeling that tired thougha glance at the clock told him he had work approching all too soon. Still thoughts were racing though his mind, thoughts that he just felt like he had to get out. So he turned to his computer, booting it up and opening up his journal. He sighed a little and rubbed the back of his head again before dating his latest entry and starting off.

My life seems to be filled with drama. Okay, so I finally got everything with Reiha in a good spot right? We're not butting heads anymore. Now I know I'm not being a father but at least we're on friendly terms. I haven't had a chance to push the caring angle but I think it's good that we're not fighting, it's a step in the right directions. Then Susan comes back into my life and I almost screw everything up with Reiha again AND drive Chel away.

Then Chel is forced to quit because of Susan, she was rehired but ended up diriving herself sick. She has this compulsion aparently and when she gets to worried she just forgets she's human or something and stops eating or sleeping. She knows how to fight it though, but it seems like this embaressing point.

I'm avoiding the real topic though. We got that, Susan is taken care of, Chel is healthy again, everything is good right? So I take Chel, Berial and Reiha to the park and Chel's...friend comes over. Fine, just fine. I'll admit, I'm kinda jealousy proned but Chel is mine and...well she says she loves me. She wont cheat on me. I trust her, I really do. Though Lance is tottally into her and well, that went all right. It was just he invited Chel out on to a date and I invited myself along, (before I really realized it) and well that's when things went bad.

Lance is...well he's close to perfect. Rich as sin, pretty good looking, a doctor, able to debate with Chel, and aparently pretty high moral since he yelled at me for checking out another girl while he and Chel were debating someone's theory on space math or something. I dunno. It's just...he brought up some thoughts, like how I'm not treating Chel right. I know I'm the one holding back the realtionship, but Chel seems pretty happy. I just worry I'm not...good enough for her.

I lift boxes for my job and Lance seemed to find that outragous for Chel to be dating someone like me. I just don't think I'm that much below her. I mean I'm not as smart as her but...she seems happy with me.

Happy enough to introduce me to her parents. Chel just told me she wanted me to meat her parents. Which is a bad idea. I suck with parents, especially dads. I mean mom's a women, which means I actually deal pretty well, a lot of them might find me cute, especially since when I get nervous I go all gentlemanly....Dad's though. Oh god.

I like sex okay? Hell, I LOVE sex. Dads don't want their daughters with a guy like me. I'm interested in getting in their bed, then getting out of their lives. I never have good intentions, I'm slick and I'm low brow. Not to mention Chel is like...way out of my legage aparently. I have no idea how her dad will ever like me.

Someone shoot me now.

Adain groaned as his head slipped forward and he sighed. Things were going downhill just as things were getting better. He couldn't believe that Chel actually thought meeting her parents would be good. Adain let out a deep sigh before getting up. Well he promised he'd do it, so he would, and damn if he'd make a bad impression. This time it would be different. Chel's parents would love him.

Oh please, someone shoot him.
