@F: Howie's on everyone's shitlist XD. He tends to rub people the wrong way. Of course there's always the possibility that Howie worked for one of the guy's rivals at some point, and he found out just before the two were... uh... discovered.
Oooh, the flea idea sounds delicious, actually. Howie's got the problems of getting used to different sensory equipment, forgetting to eat to the point of starvation, and burning himself on various forms of lights/fires. Plus, the moth parts probably wouldn't be too healthy if they were touched a whole lot - the scales would rub off.
So... yeah. He'll be all like - I'm gonna bother you and make you pissed and then freak out as soon as you touch me ^^;
I also don't know what the moth instincts would do. They only live, like, two weeks at the most. So he might start freaking out without knowing why. OMG I GOTTA DO THIS!!! ...why? Uh... I dunno. But I GOTTA DO IT NOWNOWNOW!!
And the whole 'find a female and mate' instinct. Which is pretty much all that moths do. I wonder if he'll be able to smell all the girls from 2.5 miles away ^_^
Howie @ F: Yes. I do. You don't have to live with her *jabs thumb at Daybreak*. She thinks I exist to be tortured.
Hey, who's the borderline masochist here?
Howie: stare

I'll say this first off - I wanted my character to be original. And I mean original. Too many people with black or blonde hair, I wanted it brown or some dyed color. Too many laid-back pot-smoker people, wanted my person to be a shy, quiet, uber-scholar type.
And suddenly I was sucked up into myself again. My character is me, in a sense, but... Not exactly the 'ideal' me, per se, but not a choppy stereotype of the artist/quiet girl/weirdo that makes up 'me'. With too many skills and intrests, Dai seems perfect, and I want her far from that.
My question is - How do I make my character original but not too original to the point of 'woah, that's a creepy gal'. Dai, in her wheelchaired state, doesn't have many options, but I like it that way. It'll make it much sweeter when she finally gains control of her legs again. I want her to be the artist type, but how do I do it without spreading it around? Right now she's a artist/poet/writer/cook. I'm that way. I like to cook, have a pretty good hand at drawing, like writing [RPing], and like to compose up poetry when something strikes my fancy. This, in real life, seems normal. But by RPing standards, it isn't. Sure, Dai's total amateur at all these things besides cooking, but having four 'fortes' she's intrested in makes her seem like the most effecient multi-tasker on the face of this planet, instead of the left-side-of-the-brain-user that I, myself am. How can I fix this? Should I eliminate three and concentrate on only one? There's already a would-be-writer, poet, and lots of 'artists' on the island, and I want to my vow of being original to stay. And there's also a questing chef/cook, so all my options are pretty closed. What should I make Dai intrested in, if anything at all? I'm trying to stick with chef, seeing as most of the islanders [Jamal, Antony, Billy, and other assorted people] miss Chinese food, and it would be a great subject of opportunity to make friends or enemies on the island.
Anyway, I've ranted on long enough, so... Thanks for spending your time reading this and I thank anyone who answers a thousand times over. Now... *Puts on teensy teacher glasses* Into shrink mode! 'Just lay down on the couch and tell me the first thing that comes to mind...'

To Daybreak:
Well, moth's brains aren't very complex. That might make in a slight drop of intelligence, but I think the human brain is advanced enough to block out the moth's instincts if Howie tries hard enough. Most of the islanders have animals that are more complex brains [Compared to a moth's] than a moth's, and have a harder time trying to subdue them. But I admit it would be pretty funny if he starts to hump a wall for no apparent reason, while at the same time trying to grab a lightbulb. whee

I'm having real trouble trying to figure out a cockroach anthro. I've never seen an Anthro Roach, and i've selected a species which has seperate working wings (Some don't) and my minds wrecked trying to think of what a partially human cockroach face would look like.
Any ideas, mainly on the facial aspect?

Well, maybe it looks like a roach's face [Flat and dome-y shaped], with no nose except for maybe two slits, no ears, a mouth near the end of the chin area, and beady little eyes were human eyes should be. Maybe some hair, but not alot. Oh, and you can't forget the antenni. ^^

Roach antennae are the s**t, man. Albiet, I do love this: http://www.deviantart.com/view/21269043/Edit: It's really quite hard to find a good picture of the face of a real cockroach, I agree with you on the facial structure, but for details this is obnoxious as hell. If anyone can hunt down an American cockroach facial shot i'd love them forever.

Anyone know when the character critique depot will reopen. I have revamped my character a lot, and I am not sure if I have too much info or if he is too broad in interest/skills, do not want him to be a munchkin. sweatdrop

Murr, I've been waiting for that to re-open, too. crying I want a seal of approval! And some official advice. I know some of my info is a little sketchy.
On a side note, I've got a secondary character entered in the current raffle. The big thing is... well, she's nine years old ^^; What do you think of the idea? The island could kinda use some age variety, and it's certainly a 'variable' the Moreau hasn't tested yet...

Mmm I need some help with my Character Derek. I just got his little thing for the frist time, and well, I guess he's simply to crazy to go in.
So, I was thinking possibly to toss out the idea of him cutting seriously, bringing it down to not as often and all, and the loss of his pinkies could be for another reason then himself causeing the damage.
Maybe if I made him a serious insomiac or something under that degree? Oh and heres the quest thread >>

I might have to change the animal too... hmm... any opinions??

It looks like the critique thread opens whenever the GMs get the time to look through all the submissions. When it's open the slots fill up fast. Ooh, almost forgot... NAMES!And if anybody's yet to make a mule, you don't have to mash your character name together or add a dash to seperate the first and last name. The trick is not to use the java character creator on the main page. On the side bar, under the login box, you'll see a little animated gif that alternates between saying 'Not signed up yet?' and 'CLICK here to join Gaia'. Click that and it will take you to a different character creation page that lets you put spaces in your character name! biggrin If you've already made a mule with dashes, etc. and you're not happy with that, then all you have to do is go to http://www.gaiaonline.com/profile/profile.php?mode=editprofile, which gives you the option to change your avatar's name, gender, appearance and birthday (only 2 changes EVER for name and gender... the appearance change option is useful for when the character starts undergoing changes). I only just discovered those when I started questing, so I thought I'd share.

I might have to change the animal too... hmm... any opinions?? The cutting I like, interesting angle, though I agree tone it down a bit or maybe he is a kid who was abused a lot in school or something for being rich. Keep the merrkat, it fits him. Now insomniac would be good too.

And yeah, that other character creator is much easier to work with!
