Life's a dance you learn as you go
Sometimes you lead, sometimes you follow

There is one more book that is going to come out in October of 2007. It is for Satanism and it's written by Peter Gilmore (the black pope of the church of satan) and it is called The Satanic Scriptures. I want to read it along with all of LaVey's works heart

Don't worry about what you don't know

It's really more of a young kid's series, but... A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle. (in Christianity)

I haven't read it in a few years though. :S

Also, in Taoism, The Tao of Pooh and The Te of Piglet both by Benjamin Hoff Enjoy!

Oh my God, I went to my local library, and they had absolutely zero of the books here. They didn't even have the friggin Bible. ><

"Most books on wicca or paganism by Silver Ravenwolf, they are largely fluffy books, with facts that are not very correct. "
I came in here with the intention to warn about her; I'm glad someone got to it first.

Books I've found handy for Wicca.
Wicca & Witchcraft for Dummies. By, Diane Smith
Wiccan Magick for Beginners. By, Lady Sabrina
Wiccan Warrior. By, Kerr Cuhulain. (He's an Ex-cop who wrote a book about how to deal in life the wicca way. It's not so much a book to learn about the religion. It can help anyone, Wicca or no.)

Quote:
Actually, I have had many uber-conservative christians show me quite a few parallels between LoTR and the Bible.

Such as what?

General philosophy:
There are Two Errors in the
the Title of this Book- Robert M. Martin

Buddhism:
Mindfulness in the Marketplace- Various authors.

I've also heard some rumors of Silver Ravenwolf writing books with incorrect facts. What of these rumors?
They aren't rumors; it's true. Her facts about the history of Wicca are largely inflated and spent out to , I guess, make the religion seem bigger and better. She has been misled and needs to shut up. =]
Answer your question any?

I don't know too many of the parallels between LoTR & the Bible but there is this tale about Solomon seems to be a pretty big infleunce.
To build a Holy temple in Isriel, Solomon was given a powerfull ring. This ring found demons & in the darkness of the underworld bound them to Solomons control, they built the temple under the binding of this ring of power. Sound familiar? One ring to find them, one ring to bring them all & in the darkness bind them.

Cooleboetie
a lot of good christens said to me, that i must not read lord of the rings, cause of all the witchcraft and wizardry in it. and the darkmonsters and that stuff. and you put it under the christenbooks meaby that was not a right chose.

*chokes on her drink* They may have meant well, but they must not have read the books, anything non-Middle Earth by Tolkien, or realized that all of those works can be found, at least in audio form, in any self-respecting Christian bookstore. In some of his non-LotR stuff, Tolkien himself lays out all the parallels he intentionally wrote into the stories. Oh, and I have a daily devotional book called Walking with Frodo showing how we can use him as an example of someone trying to follow the right path and how he (eventually) succeeded.
Now to cover your friends' side of the story. Look, witchcraft and wizardry exist. Sorcery is used on a daily basis. However, from the view of the Church (most Christian sects), wizardry is not something to be used by Christians since we depend on the power of the Holy Spirit to guide us through day-to-day life. Therefore, we must admonish those who use it and stay as far away from it as possible. That's where they're coming from and I personally think it's a load of bullshit. Read anything you want to. Then decide for yourself if you think it's right or not.

Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut was a book that made me think about religion in general quite a bit.

Bokononism is the best religion ever.

I'm not sure whether someone else has said this yet, but shouldn't like the Dhammapada or some other fairly well-known Buddhist scriptures be listed for Buddhism? Seeing as how you have the Holy Bible under Christianity and such.

Is the primary post of this list even being updated anymore? I see extra posts here that aren't on the main list.

if the Hidden world ever decides to show its self again you may be able to add the book of petals the book of light and the books of the 18 orders not there real form however just a copy for example the book of petals is made from thousands of rose petals and the writting was done with a cat claw, the cover is a raised rose bush with a large ruby rose in the center of both the back and the front covers, the spine has intricate designs formed by small rubys on it

there are many other religions of the hidden world but not all of them have books
