"Foul beast." he mutters as he brings his mace around for another swing at the hobgoblin that he struck at with his first attack.
2 + 3 atk bonus = 5 total
A sudden yip from behind him causes him to lose his concentration for long enough for the hobgoblin to step aside and dodge his swong once again.

Aravol grumbles at the failure of his mental attack, and decides to try something as little more physical. Again calling upon his mental strength, he bends into existence a ray of fiery energy with a loud ringing, aiming the ray right for the hobgoblin he'd attacked before.

These are kobold damage rolls.
An arrow hits Uri for 1 - 1 = 0 damage. The arrow glances off this armor.
An arrow hits Aravol for 1 - 1 = 0 damage. Aravol shrugs off the blow.
Timothy is hit by the kobold's shortspear. He takes 3 - 1 = 2 damage.
Tanith is slashed by a kobold as he twists through the fray. He takes 5 - 1 = 4 damage.

Action Summary:
Aravol attacked the hobgoblin leader with a ray attack, doing little damage. The leader dodged the attack and took 2 damage. A kobold hit Aravol with a shortbow, but the arrow was not shot well enough to damage him. Aravol is standing on the east road, the closest combatants, kobolds, are 15 feet from him.
Arazil took a mighty swing with his mace, nearly hurting a hobgoblin. He was attacked in return by two hobgoblins, who could not penetrate his defense. He is currently standing just beyond the first of the wagons, where he charged to engage a hobgoblin. He has two hobgoblins, and a kobold who is still busy with Tanith, within melee range.
While Tanith is moving towards the hobgoblin leader he kills one kobold with an elbow to the face, and attempts to cleave to a hobgoblin attacking Arazil with a kick, missing. A kobold takes a shot at Tanith, missing. Another kobold slashes at him as he passes, leaving a bleeding wound across his side. Tanith takes 4 damage. He is moving past Arazil's position, towards the leader. There is a hobgoblin attacking Arazil and the kobold who attacked you within melee range.
A kobold attacks Timothy with a shortspear, nearly skewering him. Timothy takes 2 damage. He returns the attack with his rapier, injuring the kobold for 2 damage. An arrow whips past Timothy's head. He is standing just outside of the caravan, barely 10 feet from Arazil, fighting a single kobold.
A kobold tries to stick Uri with a shortspear, and 2 arrows come in. Then a hobgoblin moves into the path betwixt he and the leader, slashing him across the chest. Uri takes 9 damage. But still, he continues to crush kobolds skulls. He is standing just inside of the caravan group, about 8 feet from Arazil, with one hobgoblin and one kobold within melee range.
I know, it seems like Uri took a lot of the attacks. But kobolds hate gnomes too...
Tanith has 6 HP left.
Timothy has 4 HP left.
Uri has 5 HP left.
Current situation:
The fight does not seem to be going well. The leader of the raiders continues to bark orders, but now he is pointing to the town with one hand, still holding his axe at the ready. A good number of the kobolds are now dropping their loads, drawing weapons and running towards the town! Some other kobolds have managed to get horses attached to a wagon, and are overloading it as a hobgoblin takes the reins. While other kobolds are still taking loads of goods to the forest. Scurrying one way, and heaving their burdens in the other.
Looking back quickly through the rain and smoke towards town, you see townsfolk, guards and some clerics from the temples gathering and running toward the caravan. It looks like the tide may be shifting, but the kobolds are wicked little creatures, and many of the townsfolk are armed only with farm implements. As the scene is lit by another bolt of lightning, you can see the kobolds at the front line are already showing thier effectiveness against the these inexperienced forces.
The kobolds AC is 13.
The hobgoblins AC is 15.
The hobgoblin leader's AC is 16.
