Feien
Vice Captain

"Just a bunch of missing feien, honestly," said Autry, throwing his hands up and grinning. "Rumor has it they're draft-dodgers, but if they are, they're the best damn dodgers of all time because the Fleet can't find them."

Autry's own inability to dodge the draft (so to speak) remained a sore spot. There was no way he would ever believe a bunch of fairies were better at it than he was. He continued, "If you still want dinner, I'll pick up the tab. You can even bring the feien. Money is of no concern." In other words, complete freedom to pick the most expensive restaurant in town and eat several courses. If Autry was going to go out, he was going to use it as an excuse to display his wealth and style. Particularly since his sports cars had all been confiscated back in Europe.

Serafima glanced over at where Hadrian and Galatea sat (a bit too closely, she noted, she might have to discuss that with the girl) and then returned her attention to Autry with a shake of her head. She had picked up on Autry's distaste for feien, too. "No, I think Galatea will stay here with her friend," she said. Then she lifted an eyebrow and studied Autry's clothing. "How elaborate would you prefer for dinner? Anything higher than three stars would require me to change."

Galatea merely smiled and closed her eyes, oblivious to the Captain's decision and relaxing in Hadrian's presence. It really -was- getting easier to tell him things. It made her feel warm.

Hadrian smiled, feeling warm himself, though the phrase 'missing feien' had caught his ears and he wondered if he'd heard right. Just now, however, what felt most immidiately important was Galatea's ease and comfort. It was clear she was worried about her Captain, and it was good to see her relax and smile.

Suddenly Autry saw the chance to show off and he jumped on it. "What if I told you I could get us into any four or five star restaurant with red carpet treatment and you wouldn't have to change?"

"That would be a very good trick indeed."

Galatea lifted her head suddenly and looked at Hadrian. "Do you do things to make your b- your mother smile?" she asked, pausing to correct herself to his own terminology.

"Absolutely!" The fire feien smiled broadly both at the question and the memories it brought up. "When I was younger, I used to make her silly things. I sent her postcards, too, when I was away. Sometimes, when I could figure out how."

Autry just smiled smugly. "Just tell me where and give me fifteen minutes. It's as good as done."

Serafima gave him another long, nearly-invasive once over. Then she nodded. "Very well, then," she agreed. "Martelucci's over on Plaza Street. If Italian is acceptable to you?"

"You will have to tell me how you did that," Galatea smiled into his shoulder, cuddling back in hesitantly. "That is, please tell me. I want to travel some day and I think the Captain might let me go alone. She says I'm very capable."

"You are," Hadrian assured her, warmed by the continued contact. This was the longest she'd felt comfortable with any phsycial contact without becoming embarased and pulling away. "Sending postcards is really and issue of figuring out how to get the card and the stamp. Once you get those then apparently as long as you know the address you want it to go to, it just gets there from almost anywhere."

"<>" said Autry, and stood with a small nod. "Excuse me a moment." He walked out of the room, heading away from the conversing feien so as to not be overheard while he made the arrangements.

Serafima almost had to laugh at it all. She was not quite sure how a dinner appointment had evolved but she was not about to refuse the offer. It was almost a relief to talk to another member of the Fleet. Even if she had never met him before. Admittedly, this meant she was behaving almost abnormal in her desire for contact but that -would- happen when denied one's anchors. Turning, she glanced at the feien. Then she took a step towards them. "Are you two going to be alright for the evening?" she asked. "Edward and I are going for dinner. Hadrian? You will take care of Galatea, correct?"

Hadrian blinked in obviously surprise. "Of course, Captain Rabik." He paused and then offered, politely but probably sincerely, "I hope you have a good time."

Autry reentered, very glad he had managed to make the arrangements after all his boasting, and that his performance as a famous movie star's assistant had not been overheard. "Ready to go?" he asked Serafima.

"Of course." Serafima flickered a smile at him, dark and slightly dangerous. "Let us see your magic in action, hm?"

"By the way, you may want to put on sunglasses, and if anyone asks, I'm Edward Norton." Autry followed this ridiculous statement by reaching to his belt and producing a pair of prohibitively expensive tinted frames.
