The little feathered demon finally had the days efforts of breaking an egg catch up with him and was hardly aware of Chane anymore, or else he might have made a jump for it when Azure got that close. Instead he was still holding onto one shoulder of Azure's with his eye lids drooping.
Azure felt her composure falter, she wasn't prepared for such a direct question, but she kept her smile up and her manner playful. "Well, that you're an OK guy Chane." She paused, looking at him.

Azure gave a short laugh just because Chane seemed so confused. "I mean I like you Chane. I... I wondered... I mean I was wondering if... If we'd ever be more than friends." There, she'd said it, she felt like her heart and her lungs were waiting to explode.

Chane felt as if his heart had stoped, but his mind was racing...
Azure and me... a couple? Little Deer likes her. I like her. But I've never thought of her as anything more then a friend. I'm supposed to like girls... Azure is a girl... she's pretty too, I guess. I never really thought about it. What would Little Deer think? He thought I liked her. Did I? No. Not like that. I do love her. She's my best friend. Never thought about her like that though. She's thought about it. Oh s**t, it must have been hard to say. I don't want to make her cry. If I don't say yes I bet she'll cry. I don't want to say yes to not make her cry. I can't lie. But, arn't you supposed to fall in love with your best friend? Wouldn't that be a good thing? ...
"Azure..." was all he managed to say...

Azure's eyebrows pulled together in worry as she placed one hand on her shoulder. She hadn't expected the silence. Why so much silence!?
Does he need more time? Why would he need more time? Was Little Deer wrong? Why wouldn't he just say so? Then, now, anytime! I have to know, I can't stop thinking about Chane when ever I'm gone. I have to know he's there when I come back... there for me. Oh my! Could he think I won't stick around!? Or that I'd be untrue on my long ventures across the Isle!? No, never, I'd never do that!
Azure's hind hooves fidgetted while her mind tumbled on the wind of her emotions. "Chane... Maybe it seems sudden, but I don't think so. I just want to see... where things would go." She wanted to reasure him... tell him he could take his time... but she didn't think she could handle it if he did.

Maybe it's because I'm younger then her. She's thought about all this more then I have?
"And Little Deer is such a big part of my life, and he's so fragile... I've been afraid to even think about bringing anyone else in. But he likes you. Maybe it would be ok, if we tried?"

Azure's heart continued to beat, her lungs continued to bring her air, and she didn't pass out. Kudos for Azure! He called me his best friend, and he's willing to try! Azure was elated and it was only the sudden shift in weight on her back that kept her from leaping forward to hug Chane.
"Wha?"
Kitrio clearly wasn't ready to be sleeping while balanced on Azure's back and had toppled over onto his side, precariosely balanced, though Azure wasn't sure how.
"Goodness!" She slid her arm under one winged arm and lifted him to her chest, cradling him against her shoulder as the bird-boy slept on. She blushed, feeling guilty for forgetting he was there.

They had arrived just in time to Chane's house. "I'll go inside and get that blanket. The one I'm thinking of is really tattered so no need to worry if he destroys it." Chane dissapeared into the house..

Azure was a grinning fool as Chane went inside the house. She began swaying a bit to rock Kitrio and was soon humming softly, perhaps just because she was too happy to contain it but had no Chane within grabbing distance. Somewhere in the back of her mind she thought about how Kitrio would likely take up a lot of her time right now and that maybe things wouldn't go as smoothly as they did within the perfect world inside her head. But she ignored it.

Chane re-emerged with the blanket in his hands. He was a stark contrast to Azure, looking more like he hadn't understood a joke then had just gained a girlfriend. "Little Deer is in the other room," He whispered, "I don't know what I'm going to tell him."

Azure carefully wrapped Kitrio in the blanket, then held him closely again. She'd already thought up various sorts of leather-wear that could both protect her skin while giving Kitrio somewhere to roost when he grew weary.
Azure thought for a moment and tried to imagine her place switched with Chane's. She felt it better that nothing be said until Little Deer figured it out himself. But then she tried to imagine being Little Deer, which was far harder in her opinion. If he resented the dark world he lived in then would he resent being kept in the dark about their relationship? Or rather would he be elated to know he'd figured it out himself?
"I... don't really know what I'd say to him. You know him better I suppose, and could better judge whether he'd feel put out if he wasn't told or if he would feel proud of figuring it out himself eventually. He is quite perseptive," she added, feeling that even if he wasn't told right away that he'd figure it out pretty quickly.

"I'm not sure, really... I think I'd have to tell him just so he wouldn't think he was lied to before... I don't know. I'm confused," Chane glanced back into the house as if he expected Little Deer to come out at any moment and discover them.

Azure nodded, she did not like lies and secrets very much and wondered if that would strain their relationship. There were many things Chane could not share, would he find Azure trustworthy enough to tell or would she always be in the dark? And while she kept her own secrets as well, she knew they were things she would feel comfortable sharing with Chane.
"Well it doesn't bother me if he knows, and I hope he approves," she added with a slow smile.

"Um, alright," Chane knew it was time for Azure to go, but he didn't know how he was supposed to say goodbye, now that they where a couple. "So... Uhh, I guesss I'll see you later, right?"

Azure shifted her hold on Kitrio, but decided it would be akward to hug Chane no matter where she put the bird boy. She looked a bit akward as she replied. "Sure," she wanted to be able to set a time she'd come back... but she also wanted to get things squared away with this new charge of hers. "Guess I'll see you later," she echoed Chane with a nervous grin.
She gave a wave as she headed down the path from his house, she knew where to go next but also wanted to stop by some traps. Hopefully this guy would like meat as that was her main staple...
