- Khairi and Tehya -

InfinitiesOfSoules
Tehya trotted along the edge of the water watching her reflection. Her thoughts were on the interesting meeting with the Kalona yesterday. He'd made her feel horribly ugly. He and his mother had been beautiful. But very scary.

And when she was scared or depressed, she'd discovered she had a fondness for the sweet white flowers. leaving the water and her dark wingless reflection behind, she headed off for the flower field.
Ronove
Khairi walked through a field of white flowers and sighed. It had been a week at least since he'd seen Death. Had she forgotten him? He hoped not, desperatly so; he certianly hadn't forgotten her. The white flowers reminded him of her, and so he came to this field, and his spot in the woods often.

Looking up, he spotted a young foal trotting towards the fields. For a moment he was tempted to leave, desiring only to be alone with his thoughts. But there was something about the foal that grabbed his attention... some kindred feeling about her that he felt he might be able to heal. With a snort at his foolishness, he approached.

"And how are you today, lass?"
InfinitiesOfSoules
Tehya started, almost falling off her hooves. "Oh." She blinked up at the stallion, giving a hesitant horsey-smile. "Hello." she greeted politely, tail swishing. It was another big Soquili, like the first one she'd met. And this one was a beautiful blue, like the flowers! "I'm doing quite well, thank you. And how are you? I'm Tehya. You're beautiful."
Ronove
Khairi smiled in return. "Thank you, Tehya." He looked her over. "You're quite striking youself, lass." The young stallion winked and his smile broadened. "Dashing markings. You'll be sure to attract the attention of all the young males aroung here."

Khairi met the filly's gaze and raised an eyeborw. "You're young yet though, lass. Where are your parents?"
InfinitiesOfSoules
Tehya tilted her head, dancing in place. The compliment had made her feel good in her chest, and she was suddenly embarassed. She ducked her head, tossing her mane in what was her nervous and embarassed gesture. "I don't have any parents." she said. "I live with my human, Citlalli, in a teepee. She found me floating in the water." she informed the stallion seriously. "May I call you Bluebell?" she finally burst out. "It's such a romantic name, and you are so PRETTY!"
Ronove
Khairi was startled. "Floating in the water?" But since the filly didn't dwell on the topic, he didn't either. He'd found Ohanzee, but he didn't really remember his parents either... "Bluebell, hmm?" The stallion smiled. "I suppose, but only between you and me. My real name is Khairi, in case you were wondering."
InfinitiesOfSoules
"Yep!" she said, and took a mouthful of the white flowers. Mmm, so sweet! "Citlalli thought I'd gotten lost, but it just seems.. no one wanted me." she wagged her head. "But I'm happy."

The way her hoof seemed to gring the flowers under it dictated otherwise.

"Khai-ri?" she sounded out the name, looking thoughtful. "It's much shorter than Bluebell. And it's pretty." she admitted. "But I'll stick with Bluebell." She bent for another mouthful of flowers.
Ronove
The crushed flower did not escape Khairi's notice, but he pretended not to see. For a moment he was silent as he gathered his thoughts. "I'm sure it wasn't like that, Tehya." The stallion's voice was soft and sympathetic. "Someone loves you, and now they miss you desperatly."

He hesitated, then nuzzled her gently. "And you have your two-legger; you're important to her too." Khairi smiled softly. Something about this filly made him feel protective. Perhaps it had something to do with meeting that... ill-mannered colt earlier. "Until you have a family of your own, Tehya, you're welcome to talk to me."
InfinitiesofSoules
Tehya's eyes prickled. "Then why didn't they try and find me?" she whispered finally, leaning against the stallions legs, voice soft. "It's nice, living with Citlalli, don't get me wrong, but it isn't... the same as a family of my own."

She relaxed when he nuzzled her, leaning her body closer towards his in response. "And thank you, Mr. Bluebell." she said, and smiled faintly.

Ronove
"You don't know that they haven't, Tehya." Khairi tried to make his voice comforting. He wasn't used to being around foals, especially not heartsick ones. "Maybe you're just too far away. When you're older and stronger, you'll be able to search for them. Maybe one day you'll find them."

The blue stallion smiled. "Don't worry, lass." The filly seemed so forlorn, he couldn't help but speak to her. Not all foals were annoying, it seemed. "Now, it's a beautiful day; are you planning on doing anything fun?"
InfinitiesOfSoules
Tehya smiled. Leaning up, she nuzzled the bigger Soquili. "Thank you Mister Bluebell." she murmured again. "I'm sure, one day I will.' she nodded, and trotted off a few steps. "My two-legger and I live in a teepee, by the river, right before it hits the woods. You are welcome to come visit us any time, okay?
And with that, she trotted off happily.

- Khairi and Intrepid -

Ronove
Khairi let his hooves drop heavily onto the ground with every step, too tired to work up the energy to fight gravity. The blue stallion shook his mane out and managed a soft laugh at himself, but it didn't make him feel any better. Khairi'd only met Death yesterday, but is seemed as if he'd known her forever... and hadn't seen her in just as long.
The darkness that wreathed the undersides of the branches in the deeper woods began to dissapate. Khairi glanced up to find himself approaching the edge of the woods. Through the branches he could see an emerald field, bright with sunlight and color. He snorted and paused where he was, tempted to stay and sulk in the darkness of the forest. Then, with another sigh, he forced himself blinking out into the sunlight.

Lethrossen

Intrepid blinked as he spotted the other, but immedietly he could tell it was another male, like himself. He snorted and kept going, only since the other was right in his path. He wondered why the fellow was leaving the woods, or maybe why he'd been there in the first place. He didn't run into too many others there, mostly he ran into them in this feild.

"Oy, lo there." He grunted, just to be polite.

Ronove

Khairi blinked and stood still for a moment, surpised to see another Soquili here. He eyed the other male for a moment, then dismissed him as inconsequential and turned away. The other stallion's voice cut through his thoughts, but Khairi wasn't much in the mood for conversation anyways. The young stallion knew he was being rude, but he couldn't seem to care. Instead, he trudged quietly past the brown male and stepped out into the field, reveling slightly (despite himself) in the sunlight that warmed his sides.

Lethrossen

Intrepid stopped in his tracks, glancing over his shoulder and snorting. "Heard something about this place being invaided with worthless horse-dung." He half muttered, half spoke so the other could hear. Intrepid hated being ignored, it didnt matter if the other was male or female, hated or best friend. Being ignored was worse than anything, in the brown stallion's book.

Ronove
Khairi heard the other stallion's comment and felt a spark of anger ignite in what had been only numb. A fight would feel really good right now... but it wouldn't do anything. Khairi repressed the urge with a stifled snort. For a moment the young stallion didn't respond. He stretched in the sunlight and then spoke in a low, calm voice.

"Invaded with horse-dung?" Khairi echoed. "Thank you for the warning." He turned around and met the other stallion's eyes. "I'll make sure I watch for it."

Lethrossen

See, this was why intrepid avoided other males! They were all arses. "I'm pretty sure, from the smell, you've already stepped in some." He replied smoothly, chuckling softly and moving again toward the trees. Intrepid seemed to pick fights with out even trying.

Ronove

Khairi flicked an ear back, listening to the male speak. The spark of anger flared into a flame and Khairi snorted. Stepped in it? He tossed his mane. He could have dealt with that, but the other stallion's laugh was what really get him. Khairi raised his head and spoke just loud enough for the other stallion to hear.

"I didn't want to be rude, but..." Khairi raised an eyebrow and stared pointedly at the other male's coat. "From the look of your coat, I'd say you've already found more than your share of horse-dung." He nodded of to the right. "There's a stream there. Take a bath."

Lethrossen
Intrepid froze, teeth grinding together. How dare he, insulting his beauitul coat like that. "At least i'm not some freak color like you own." That was a little harsh, seeing as he had a sone that was only a few shades of blue different. "And I'm sure you didn't want to be rude, I'm also sure you didn't want to be born stupid; you were rude from the start." He didn't look at the other, he just again attempted to leave.

Ronove
Khairi shrugged. "I was born with this color, and I don't mind it too much. After all, I match the sky. You..." He arched one eyebrow. "...well, you match other less... savory things." Khairi watched the other male leave and felt an strong urge to gallop after him and speak his mind. For a moment his muscles quivered in anticipation, but then the young stallion hung his head. What is wrong with me? He felt a flash of shame. Insulting a stallion he didn't even know...

Khairi looked up and sighed. Already the brown stallion was dissapearing into the undergrowth. For all Khairi knew, he really could be nice. Taking a deep breath, Khairi sacrificed his dignity and spoke softly, halfway hoping the other stallion wouldn't hear him. "I apologize for ignoring you earlier... " He winced, but didn't look away.

Lethrossen
His ear flicked as he heard the last words, and he twisted to call back "Hmph." But after a moment he just sighed. "And I am sorry for beginning the insulting." He said, half forced. With that he continued on his way.

Ronove
Khairi stood still for a moment longer, listening to the other stallion. Then, with a nod he turned and headed into the meadow.

- Khairi and Kanati -

Naysha Aysha
User Image
A stallion walked slowly through the woods his head held as high as he could.
"Unequa hear aya kanogisdi , adasehede aya kalii ganodu ale ihesdi aya uhusti.
Unequa, ela ale gaklunadi, alisdelvdi aya dadeyohvsgv aya
adanata dvga!"
((Great spirits hear my song, guide my life and keep me strong.
Great spirits, eath and sky , help me teach my soul to fly.))
He song with joy not looking where he was going rather up to the sky.

Ronove
Khairi plodded through the woods, weaving his way in and out of the trees. It wasn't much farther now, he recognized the trees. There, the one with the strange moss covering, and that one with the roots braided through. He paused and sniffed the air, enjoying the scent of dirt and life; the forest, and the mountain paths as well, were the best places to live.

"... alisdelvdi aya dadeyo..." A strange voice broke into his thoughts and he looked up to find a large green and brown stallion striding towards him, singing in an unknown language. Khairi started; this one had a... horn?

Not wanting to interrupt the stallion's song, Khairi stood nearby and snorted softly, hoping to catch the horned Soquili's attention.

Naysha Aysha
Kanati stoped his head dropping to look at the other stallion.
"Osiyo sagonige sawu((Hello blue one)). Im sorry I did not greet you sooner, my heart is filled with the joy of the spirits for on this day the little one had his vision." he chuckled for a moment. "You do not even know of whom I speak of and yet I felt I should tell you." Kanati took this time now to look into the stallions eyes.

Ronove
Khairi met the other stallion's eyes unflinchingly, but was a little suprised at the intensity of the gaze. He smiled slightly and shook his head. "It doesn't matter." Although he couldn't understand the language, he understood the tone. "And good morning to you."

Khairi's voice was soft, but the curiosity that was held in check there spilled over into his gaze, which flicked constantly towards the other stallion's horn. Unsure, he decided to stick with the present topic. "A vision?" He asked, tilting his head slightly. "Who was this?"
Naysha Aysha

Kanati smiled noticing the stallions gaze.
"My dideloquasgi, Im teaching him to be more in touch with the spirits of our great lands.Unesdala ale Vtsi a cute little foal whom is very strong in everyway. ..Im sorry do you not speak Cherokee? Just to let you know I have horn ,because Im a unicorn...have you never met one before?" Kanati's eyes glowed as his gaze seemed clam and gently. The wind blew through the trees and Kanati's ears twiched as if listening to someone whisper in his ears. "Hmmm."
Ronove
Leaves whispered together overhead and branches whisped across the blue stallion's side; Khairi flicked his ears, but couldn't catch what the other stallion - unicorn? - had heard. Stomping a back hoof uneasily, he shook his head.

"I don't speak it well, and your accent seems... strange. Sometimes I can understand my two-legger, but other times..." He shrugged, a slight shifting of weight. "And I hadn't met a unicorn - " The young stallion pronounced the word slowly, trying to get a feel for it " - before you." He smiled faintly. A second breeze blew through, sending a shiver down the stallion's back. He wished at that moment that he could ask what Kanati heard. Instead he said, "A foal? Are you a father?"
Naysha Aysha

"It could be , because I spend most of my time speaking with the spirits and learning the lessons they have to teach me, that my accent was different. Dont worry unicorns are rare, yet you are only the normal soquilli Ive ever met.I tend to blend in to my surroundings when Im paying attention. No yet it is one of my dreams to be an agidoda. The foal ran into me one day while I was listening to the ama adanvdo(water spirits) and he has followed me ever sence.By the way my name is Kanati. What makes you uneasy, sagonige sawu?"Kanati said looking Kahairi over.

Ronove
"The only normal one? I'm suprised." The young stallion's tone was wry. "After all, there are so many of us." The ghost of a smile flitted across his face. "I'm sure you'll meet many more."

"Kanati..." Remembering his manners, the blue stallion lowered his head in a slight bow. "I'm Khairi. As to what makes me uneasy..." Khairi smiled, his expression slightly sheepish. "It is you, actually." He glanced around at the trees, still whispering in the slight breeze. "Or, more precisely, what I don't hear." His ears flicked back and forth, but despite his efforts he could only hear the natural sounds of the forest. Kanati heard something else, it seemed.

"I like to keep to myself. That is most likly the reason why Ive not met more." Kanati smiled and nodded his head in reply to the head bow. "Maybe your listening to hard Khairi.Ive spent my life learning to listen.Hia adonvdo(the spirits) are talking about the seasons and things to come." Kanati turned abit to look towards the edge of the forest he seemed lost in thought for a moment and the wind whipped his mane around his face."Not even I can always understand what they are saying." he spoke finally.
PostPosted: Thu May 25, 2006 6:17 pm

Khairi nodded. "Sometimes it is necessary to be alone." His tone was thoughtful, and he glanced in the direction Kanati was gazing before looking back.

"Listening too hard?" The stallion shook his head and laughed softly. "I didn't realize it was possible." Khairi pricked his ears and looked into the woods. The light was fading fast and he wanted to reach his destination before nightfall. "I'm sorry to leave, but I have somewhere to be." The blue stallion bowed his head in farewell, then began to walk down the path. He hesitated for a moment, then turned back to the strange unicorn. "I'll work on my listening skills. Thank you."

Turning, he continued forwards, egar to reach the waterfall again.

((Sorry, I've gotta end this. If you want to rp again sometime though, I'd be up for it! Just tell me. ^^))

- Khairi and Blais -

Celeanor
99 snows birds in the sky, 99 snow birds~~~~ Humming the tune to himself, the painted young stallion tossed his golden locks proudly, relishing the summer heat on his auburn and white flanks. Overhead a pair of cardinals watched him curiously but offered no comment of their own as he passed beneath them, his hooves prancing out the rhythm in the dusty track.
Ronove
The summer heat was a welcome change from the wet spring weather. Khairi grinned and kicked up his heels, enjoying the bright day. He had only planned to go out for a walk, but that walk quickly turned into a trot... then a canter, and before he could stop himself he was galloping down the path, reveling in his own strength and speed. The yougn stallion glanced forward to see a bend in the path ahead, but recklessly contiued forward...

...only to skid to a halt mere inches from a painted stallion heading towards him. For a moment he stared, catching his breath, then he laughed sheepishly and grinned. "Sorry 'bout that."
Celeanor
"One came down and gave me a frown, 98 snowbi~~~ aieeeeeeeee!!!!!" Sliding to a sudden halt, Blais half reared and started to back up until intelligence overcame fright and he realized the other was a soquili.

And was laughing.

Startlement turned to a slight frown and Blais sniffed lightly before replying. "No issue... I'm glad you didn't run full on into me."
Ronove
At the other Soquili's frown Khairi swallowed his laughter and backed up a pace, although he couldn't seem to wipe the grin off his muzzle. The young stallion did, however, manage to remember his manners and lowered his head in a slight bow.

"Yes, me too." Khairi said cheerfully. "Coulda been nasty." He looked at the other soquili curiously - he'd seen coloring like that before, but he wasn't sure where...
Celeanor

Regarding the bright blue stallion silently for a moment, Blais finally returned to greetings, a slight smile crossing his features in satisifaction. "To true Mr. Khairi! And I am Blais." he said, bobbing his head. "May I ask what brings you to this far flung," he paused to sneeze before continuing "and quite dusty path?"
Ronove
"Bless you." Khairi nodded in the direction of the mountains, which were at this point faint in the hazy afternoon sky. "I live in the mountains and, while my two-legger's teepee is fairly far from any path, this one happens to be the closest." He blinked and shook his head, trying to escape the dust. "And, since it's such a nice day, I thought I'd got for a wal- erm... run." He grinned again.

"I'd gotten tired of all the rain, but now this dust makes me wish the weather would turn again." Khairi snorted and stood still, hoping not to stir up any more dust. "What are you doing out here? I don't meet too many soquili this far from the native lands." The young stallion looked at the other male curiously.
Celeanor
"Ah the mountains! Lovely views." Blais said, steering away from the topic of why he was out here. Not that he had anything to hide... he was just... less then inclined to talk about himself. Finding out about others held far more appeal for him, mostly since he was insatiably curious by nature.
Ronove
"Yes, it's pretty. And I enjoy the solitude." The change in topic didn't escape the blue stallion's notice, but for the moment he went along with it. "Although sometimes I wonder why my two-legger chose to live so far away from others like him. It's much harder for them to travel than for us." Khairi shrugged, partly to himself, then studied Blais.

"I've met a few soquili who live on their own. Are you one?"
Celeanor
"Not by my choi-" but he stopped mid sentence, amber eyes growing fierce. "I don't have a two-legged companion... sadly." he corrected, supressing the urge to sigh.

"Do you enjoy the human's company? I mean.. is it satisfying?"
Ronove
Khairi was silent for a moment before responding. He wasn't sure whether Blais wanted a companion, or was against settling with a two-legger. "I can't say I really know him well." He said hesitantly, considering the question. "I've only recently met him, and although I call the mountain my home, I've never really... stayed there for long." The blue stallion shrugged and grinned wryly. "I suppose it's nice though, to know I have a place to go if I ever really need it."

"If you want to sometime, you could meet my two-legger." Khairi laughed. "He always seems amazed by us. I'm sure you'd impress him."
Celeanor
A look of intense longing passed briefly through Blais's eyes before he masked it with a demure head toss. "Someday, perhaps I'll visit... if you'll let me that is." he added, unable to keep the hint of shy uncertainty from his voice. Inwardly he kicked himself, too proud to admit how much he really wanted companionship... even to himself.
Ronove
Khairi eyed Blais for a moment, wondering if he'd imagined the longing he'd seen in the other stallion's eyes. Deciding that it didn't matter, he smiled. "Of course I'd let you. I did just invite you, after all." Khairi looked down the path, then glanced up at the sky, noting the dimming afternoon light. "I should probably get going. But if you'd like to walk a little ways with me, I can show you the general direction of my teepee...?"
Celeanor
Chuckling at his own misunderstanding, Blais had to shake his head at the rest of Khairi's words. "I would love too, but I'm afraid I must find my way back to the thicket before darkness falls, and since I have a horrible sense of direction... it may take me awhile." Which was partially true... he did have to get back to his hiding place before darkness.. but to be truthful... he didn't want to make too many friends just yet. Not until he found his father and figured out if he would even be welcome in this territory.

But burned bridges weren't much good either...

"We will meet again! Right Khairi? I'll be able to visit with you then." he added with a grin.
Ronove
Khairi nodded. "That's fine, I understand." The blue stallion began to walk down the path, then paused and looked over his shoulder as the other Soquili spoke. "Yes, I do hope we meet again! Good luck." He winked. "I hope you find your way well enough."

With that, the young stallion nickered a farewell and trotted off down the path, keeping his pace slower as to avoid any other close encounters. Of course, if they all lead to others like Blais... well, then he wasn't complaining.

- Khairi, Calamity, Tehya, Awnaety, and Maeve -

Quiddie!
It was a dreadfully quiet day in the clearing the soquilis normally congregated. Calamity, lacking for any other sort of entertainment, spent long minutes lying lazily in the grass, snapping his teeth at nothing in particular and making odd and gruesome faces at the bugs and grass.
InfinitiesOfSoules
Tehya trotted out of the teepee she and Citlalli shared, shaking herself and sipping at the river nearby. Uggg, she was feeling so... lethargic. What should she do? Maybe... go on an adventure! But for that, she'd have to have the proper supplies. Citlalli always said that one needed to be properly equipped to go on a hunt.

The filly stuck her head back in the tent, and dragged out one of the Lakota woman's blankets, laying it flat on the grass. Chomping up some long blades of grass, she laid it in the blanket, as well as one of the warrior woman's bows. She didn't exactly know what it was for, but Citlalli called it important. What else did she take?

After a few minutes raiding the teepee for things Citlalli deemed important (most of which would be useless to a Soquili), Tehya folded in each of the four cormers of the blanket one at a time as she had seen her human do, and picked it up by the middle, trotting off.

As she wandered through one of the clearings, probably an hour into her adventure, she noted a familiar looking Soquili colt making faces at the grass. "I'm sure it feels such unimaginable fear, the grass. They don't know what to do with such a terror. Look, it's running away! You might want to catch it." her voice was dry.
Chamain
Head popped up, she heard a foal talking. Couldn't really tell if it was a filly or a colt. Taking steps towards the sound, she could see 2 young soquilis in the field. Hmph... Standing there, she watched them closely. Seeing that there were a filly and colt in front of her.
Ronove
The humming of insects combined with the heat of the sun on his flanks effectively put Khairi into a doze. It was so warm out... shaking his head, he tried (and failed) to wake himself up. With a sigh he stepped into the shade of the forest and began walking towards the clearing he'd met other Soquili in. Maybe some company would serve to liven up the day.

He trotted out of the shadows and stretched in the afternoon sun light, studying the area around him. Movement in the tall grass caught his eye and he focused on a particularily tall clump close to the shade of a single oak. A second soquili, the filly he'd met a few days ago, was also attracted to the movement. Although, by her attittude, she wasn't particularly thrilled with her findings. Khairi recognized the colt in the grass as the impudent (though entertaining) youngster he'd seen earlier.

Another mare stood at the edge of the clearning, one he hadn't seen before. While keeping an eye on the two foals he walked over to the adult, bowing his head in greeting as he stopped next to her.

"Nice day." He said softly. Not much of a greeting, but it would do.
Tamiko-chan
Maeve blinked. The sun was too bright, she thought, and attempted to shut it out by closing her eyelids. The sunlight, though, persisted even through those and so she found herself shaking out her mane and messing around with her jaw. She had slept uncomfortably, and now she was sore.

Folding her ears back in an irritated way, the filly looked around herself. The teepee she shared with the two-legger wasn't too far off. She didn't remember doing so, but she figured that she must have come back here before napping. It was a smart move, she thought, for the human was always able to keep her safe and protected, comfortable. But of course she couldn't stay here forever. Her curious nature kicked in immediately after she had awaken, and within the next few moments she was trotting out over the lands, going wherever the wind went.

Eventually she slowed, her bright eyes spotting what looked like a gathering of sorts. Four Soquili, she counted. Ears pricked forward, alert.

For once, Mae stayed silent. There was one with wings, and that upset her. Never before had she seen such things attached to a horse, and right now she wasn't at all sure whether she could stand looking at it. They were ghastly to her, looking as if they hurt sticking out from the other's body like that...

The filly snorted, not at all sure what to think of it.

- Khairi and Rahu -

Ronove
Thunder rumbled in the distance and the sky over top of the mountains was stained a deep, darkening grey. Khairi brought his head up and caught the scent of rain along with the more acrid smell of lightning in the cool breeze that rushed past. He stood still for a moment, watching the thunderheads as they advanced inextolerably towards the plains where he stood. Then with a sigh he relinquished his grazing spot and started up the nearby trail at a smooth canter.

Khairi didn't get far before the storm hit, but he did make it to the relative shelter of the forest before the sky opened. Thunder rippled across the sky and was immediatly answered by a flash and a downpour. The blue stallion's light coat quickly became soaked, staining it to a darker, greyer blue. However, the storm was gone as quickly as it came, leaving behind nothing more than swollen streams and sparkling leaves.

Stepping out of the forest, the young stallion shook out his coat and pricked his ears. He watched to road, wondering if any others had been unfortunant enough to be caugh out with him.
samus x
Rahu was soaked from the suddened down pour of ran. bolting through the clearing to the forest, he caught sight of a young stallion who was a odd color. snorting he slowed down and started to go past the stallion. he had no time to yack to someone, he wanted to find somewhere to drie off and rest for a while.
Ronove
The sound of hoofbeats on the quickly drying earth was the only warning Khairi recieved before a tall black stallion bolted around a bend in the trail. As he approached he slowed down, but he didn't appear like he was going to stop. The young stallion hesitated a moment before stepping into the road, not exactly in the other's way, but still an obstacle. He hadn't met this stallion before, and curiosity overcame any caution he might have exercised.

"Caught in the rain, were you?" Khairi grinned wryly as he glanced down at his own wet body. "So was I. Unlucky."
samus x
Rahu stoped in the rain and looked at the stallion." yes and i would rather be on my way out of it, rather than yacking with you." snorted he started past him in the direction where he remeber a cave, he usual slept in. shaking his mane, he really did not want to stay in they storm.

Khairi was slightly taken aback, but continued doggedly. Overhead the clouds were breaking up, creating a land filled with sparkling water.

"The sun will dry you faster than anything else will, you know." He said, easily keeping pace with the ornery stallion. And I'll pretend your rudeness is due to the soaking you received. Khairi shook out his mane and continued. "C'mon. What else do you have to do that's so urgent?"
samus x
Rahu stoped, shaking his mane and looked up to see the sky clearing a bit. snorting he turned to the stallion. " true enough. then before doing anything else, who are you." it was geting rare he ever ran into anyone he did not already know. though save for the fact he did know some foals who where annoying.
Ronove
Khairi's grin widened when the stallion finally stopped. He wasn't sure about the stallion's attitude, but he wasn't worried. What could happen, they'd fight? Khairi felt a burst of excitement at the thought.

"I'm Khairi." He bowed his head slightly, then eyed the other male curiously. "Who're you?"

Already he felt the sun warming his flanks, and while the heat was nice, he could tell it was going to become unpleasantly warm once he was dry. Part of him wished the storm had stayed longer.
samus x
Rahu looked up at the clearing sky as it warmed and glared at it. if it got too hot, he would be pretty misserable cause his blood red black coat. turning back to the stallion, he eyed him for a moment. " i'm Rahu. and if we wish to get drie, i think a walk would do it." startign to walk away back towards the meadow where the sun was really out, Rahu figured Khairi would ether follow or decied not to.
Ronove
For a moment the blue stallion hesitated, slightly put off by the other's chilly manner. Shaking his head at himself, he trotted after the black stallion and came up next to him. Slowing his pace, he studied Rahu for a moment before speaking.

"It is nice to meet you." Steam rose off his back as the water evaporated. The woods were filled with a warm dense mist. "Where are you from? I haven't seen you around before."
samus x
Rahu kept walking, and wondered why on earth he bothered to ask for company. " that would be cause i wander about." pondering wether to say where he was from, he decided not to. " i really doubt you need to know that." though actualy anyone could tell he was from the desert and was use to running for long distances, by his musled form that barely showed with his dark coat.
Ronove
Khairi shrugged. He'd half expected to be refused an answer anyways, so it wasn't a suprise. Since the other stallion didn't ask, the young male decided not to volenteer any information about himself.

"You wander." Khairi thought about that for a moment, remembering his journey to get here. Wandering wasn't something that appealed to him anymore. "Then you must have met other Soquili. Maybe you've met a little colt, a... Kalona, I believe he is called?"
samus x
Rahu shruged. " i have met too many foals for my liking. but i have not met a Kalona colt yet." picking up the pace alittle, he was in no hurry to get anywhere and choose a random direction but knew where it lead." though you watch i'll meet him soon enough, and be pestered. but i already have enough going on."
Ronove
As Rahu speed up Khairi matched his pace. He wasn't sure where they were going, but he was the black stallion seemed confident in his choice of direction, so Khairi didn't dispute it.

"Well, it is spring, after all. A lot of foals are born this time of year." Come to think of it, he'd been meeting more foals than adults recently. "They like you, do they?" Khairi grinned. I can't imagine why. If I was a foal, I would have stayed clear away.
samus x
Rahu snorted and picked up the pace a bit more. it had been a while since he had a good run. " true enough but i dont see why everyone has to make a fool of themselfs and have foals." his nose flared a bit from picking up the pace. " and if they even do like me i cant see why."
Ronove
Khairi broke out in a smooth canter and continued the conversation. "Fools of themselves? You were brought into the world only by the grace of two such fools." He shook his head, smiling slightly. "But it doesn't matter because I agree. I've never had children."

For a moment the stallion was quiet, contemplating Rahu's last statement. "As for why they like you... they must see something in you that appeals to them. Or maybe they are too naive to recognize trouble when they find it." He glanced quickly at Rahu. "No offense ment, of course."
samus x
Rahu stoped in place rather quickly at Khairi's first statment. it was something that hit a nerve in him. " both my parents where fools. but i wont be explaining anything about." he snaped at Khairi in annoyance and anger. " and they are to stupid to figure im someone not to come around." snorting he starting walking again, slow, then faster.
Ronove
Khairi skidded to a halt and regarded Rahu expressionlessly as he spoke angrily. As the other stallion resumed his pace Khairi hesitated, wondering for a moment if he should continue following. Well... at least this was more interesting than sitting around grazing all day. The blue stallion twitched his tail and then broke into a canter, easily catching up to Rahu.

"I wouldn't expect any expilination. After all, I just met you." Khairi forced himself to smile pleasantly. "I don't know my parents, but they could have been fools." He doubted it though.
samus x
Rahu snorted and keeping uping the pace a little. " well i know atlest my mother was the fool, though i figure my father the same." he said in a angered and bitter tone. this was actualy the first time he did not blow up completely about that subject. not even saying anymore, he was trying to clear his mind by always picking the pace up a bit.
Ronove
The pace increased to a slow gallop and Khairi delighted in the sight of the ground speeding away beneath his hooves. He glanced at Rahu next to him in time to catch a bitter look on his face before it dissapeared. The blue stallion listened in silence to the other male's comments.

For a while the only sound was the pounding of hooves on wet earth and the smooth breathing timed to each stride. Finally Khairi spoke. "Have you ever met your father?" He knew it was risky to even continue on the topic, but he was curious. And Rahu seemed to have calmed down... so far, so good.
samus x
Rahu snorted. " no i never knew him. only knew my mother for a little while.but enough talking about my own past."picking up the pace even more, he had forgotten how much he enjoyed running. a smirk came across his face. " think you can out match a wild black stallion like me Khairi." making the pace faster, he was leting him self loose.
Ronove
Khairi continued alongside the black stallion, but slowed a bit when he remembered he didn't know the path well. At all, actually. But Rahu's challenge brought out his competitive side and he grinned and lept forwards.

"Of course. You never asked me about my past, but I never said I was tame either!" Springing forward, he put on another burst of speed and hurtled around a bend in the trail. The path was slick with mud and covered in loose leaves and branches from the storm, but he didn't slow up.
samus x
Rahu actual knew this area well and went all out in a bust of speed with a smirk still across his face. " why should i ask someone i just met about there past. now lets see how well you run!"this was the first time Rahu was acutaly acting different than usual. maybe it was because he was just leting himself run wild and loose like he use to. but who know's, he kept on running.
Ronove
Khairi scrambled around a corner, gathered his legs under him, and shot forwards following Rahu. Coming up next to him so that the two were neck and neck, he spoke.

"Is there a finish line I should look for?" He asked, smirking back. "Or are you just going to run?"

Wouldn't be much of a race without a finish line, but then again, he was a guest of a sort and shouldn't really complain. He snorted at the thought and grinned. Yeah, right.
samus x
Rahu kepts on going, confadinte in himself and his footing on the ground as his hoofs pounded the ground. looking over at Khairi smirk, he tryed to push himself faster but knew nto to go too fast aroudn here. " theres a stream up ahead that we should see soon enough. first one there wins the race."
Ronove
Khairi nodded but didn't reply, lending all of his concentration to the task at hand. A good thing, too; a branch rolled beneath his hooves and only through quick manuvering was he able to keep his footing and his pace. The blue stallion grinned in a rush of adrenaline and stretched out his neck. His stride lengthened as he increased the pace.

Up ahead, through the trees, he thought he caught the glitter of sunlight on quick-moving water. At the same time the sound of water over rocks reached his ears. They were close.
samus x
Rahu pinned his ears back and concetrated on running. hearing the water and seeing they where close only made him push himself faster. leting his powerful musles pound his hoofs into the ground and making him go faster. he increased his speed adn then only heared the pounding of both there hoofs.
Ronove
Another bend in the trail, and then they were on a downhill slope towards the creek bed. Khairi caught a brief glimpse of a waterfall to their right - so that's how I saw it through the trees - and then he was sliding and scrambling in the loose rocks of the hill. He hit the water with a splash that reversed all the effects the sunlight had had, and sent a spray up into his face.

The water was cool and refreshing, but the spray had prevented him from seeing who had been first. Khairi snorted out water and shook his drenched main. He'd heard Rahu enter the water as well, but he wasn't sure when. As he blinked away water and opened his eyes, he found Rahu next to him, soaked as well.

"So." Khairi said, grinning. "Was I fast enough for you, desert boy?"
samus x
Rahu went sliding into the water right when Khairi did too. snorting and shaking his mane as he got out, he turn to Khairi with a smirk. " dont be calling me boy, but i say your not half bad." closing his eyes a min and looking up at the sky, the water had felt good after that run. " and i have to admit that was the most fun i have had in a long time."
Ronove
Khairi grinned and shook wet tendrils of hair out of his eyes. He'd caught his breath easily enough, but it had been a while since he'd gone on a run like that. Much less a race.

"It was fun, I'll admit." The blue stallion waded deeper into the stream until it was just over his haunches. The water was refreshinly cool and despite their rough entrance, still fairly clear. "You're quick, Rahu."
samus x
Rahu gave a cocky smirk. " thanks, your pretty quick yourself. and mind i dont say complemints to anyone." having now caught his breath, he shook his mane again. he was thursty from the run and decided to grab a drink. it felt good to have had a good run and a nice drink now.
Ronove
The sun was out, but the misty woods gave everything around them a dream-like quality. Khairi stretched in the water and took a long drink, savoring the taste of the cool liquid.

"I should probably get going. It's getting late and I'd like to at least make it partway to the mountains before dusk." He'd seen mountain lions in the foothills and was wary of coming in after nightfall. It wasn't that he was afraid for his life, but he didn't want to attract the predators to Ohanzee either. Those two-leggers could be so frail...

"And thanks for the compliment." Khairi grinned and stepped out of the stream. Water rolled off his sleek hide and left a damp trail on the earth. "I'll see you around."

The blue stallion bowed his head once and then turned on his heal and broke into an easy, ground-eating lope. It was a long way back to the teepee.
