sprags kill a blackbird on halloween coz the devil posses them all on this day There's actually a ritual which was performed in Europe which involved blackbirds. It called for the bird to be fed and taken care of for a year until Hallowe'en. During the ritual, it would be gutted and stuffed with various herbs before being sewn up again. Chants would be made to certain deities (probably Hecate) before the bird's body was burned. The person performing the ritual would then inhale the smoke from the burning body, supposedly inhaling the spirit of the blackbird. The blackbird was believed to have the power of travelling between the worlds, and on the night when the veil is thinnest it made sense to perform the ritual then. The herbs used are psychoactive. When the smoke is inhaled, the individual gets really, really high and hallucinates madly. S/he then believes that they really are travelling between the worlds. Because of his/her belief in the season, they would see things in their hallucinations appropriate to the holiday. Ghosts, demons, the walking dead. Good times wink

I know one, it sound kind of dumb actually, but since we're on the subject, I'll share it.
On Halloween night, five minutes before midnight, if a girl sits before a mirror, brushes her hair, and takes one bite out of a red apple she can see her future husband?
So, does anyone know any other Halloween myths? Has anyone tried any?
xd What? It could be worth a laugh.
Plus, I'm bored. sweatdrop i dont have many miths but i do know a spooky story.my death.the year was 1977 and i had been working hard on show i was very ill and was taking lots of medacation when one day i went to the toilet redface in pain and never woke up!!!

My cousin was scared to go in her parents room after the one time and she was glad when they moved xd

Wow! I have never heard any of those. I have been educated on Halloween just by reading all of the myths.
I don't know of any myths but I have a story that a friend had told me and he isn't one to lie so it might be true.
This happened in the early '80's on Halloween night. He said that him and a friend and their girlfriends went to Tarrytown NY (which is the home of Washington Irving) and went over to a graveyard to make out with their girlfriends. Everything was quiet when all of a sudden they started hearing strange voices. When they looked they saw people who were walking very slow walking towards them. He said they looked like ghosts. They didn't stay to find out. They high tailed it out of there.
I sometimes wonder if maybe they got caught in some kind of a show that the town put on for Halloween and they mistook it for being real.
