"I'm fine, just a little shaken is all," Gala said after a moment. Her nose was so soft! "And you did the right thing. Hiding from a raptor like that is always a good idea!"

Sidra drew her head back a little to look Galaen square in the eye. "So what posessed you two to stay out in the open like that?! You've scared yourself half to death, and I'm sure you've given me some silver hairs as well!" She snorted sternly. "Come on, if that beast's going to be hanging around, we should find somewhere safer to hide for awhile. Can you stand," she asked, nudging Gala in the ribs gently.

"Where is safer then under the wings of an angel?" The foal asked clearly confused.
"It's just the hardest part of living. Alright She wants It all to come down this time."

"Yes, I think so," certainly this was a day like no other the grey angel had experienced! "The rose bushes would be safe enough, but they are on the far side of the garden." With a heave, he regained his feet. Galaen thought for a moment. Safety had never been a concern of his before, there had to be a place closer to the clover where they could go!"
"Sidra, Toro, do you have any idea of a place nearby? I have to confess that I haven't really had to think of hiding places before." Gala scuffed one hoof on the ground as he spoke.

Sidra smiled at Toro. "I suspect even angels break sometimes, dearheart. Hawks are pretty big, and their talons are sharp. Let's see... I believe there is some spinach planted a couple of rows over. It's nice and leafy, so that should give us plenty of cover. Hawks have good vision, but if they can't see you they won't come after you. Right?" Sidra nudged the two boys onto their hooves and started shepherding them that way.

"That can be the place we set up our new family." The foal says as his face breaks out in a smile and he trots off. " Well, are you two comeing?"

Sidra stared at the little foal, horrorstruck. Mother had always said that kids say the darndest things. Sidra fervently wished that her mother had been wrong, but alas... The blue-swirled mare cast a furtive glance at Galaen. Perhaps he hadn't heard...

Galaen felt his knees weaken again at the innocent phrase the youngling had spoken. To be sure he had always assumed that one day he would find someone, but he had all of eternity - right? He cast a sideways glance at the striking spiraled mare and was rather relieved to see that she was just as dumbstruck as he felt. "Family." he finally managed to squeak out. "Err... yes, I suppose you could call us that...if you..wanted" his voice trailed away. Where was that hawk when you needed it! Or a meteor? He swore he could hear the Mother of All laughing somewhere in his mind.

With an effort, Sidra continued to put one hoof in front of another. Galaen was OK with being a family, though he seemed as shocked by Toro's declaration as she was. She'd only just met these two... but... well, it might be only for a few days if they fount Toro's parents. What then? Or what if they were not to be found? Sidra managed a shaky smile to Galaen. "Well, this family had best get itself to safety sooner rather than later."
With her thoughts chasing themselves around like beetles trapped in a hollow stump, Sidra continued to lead the way to the spinach plants.

Sidra's ear flicked back at the soft sound of Toro's song. How sweet, he was singing about Gala...en. What was that? Her ears swivelled about as she tried to catch the faint laughter again... Oh, it was probably just Toro's Gift.
Wait. Ooohhhh no... If he's using his Gift already... I don't know how to teach him to control it! Should I ask him to stop singing? How can I ask him to stop singing?! Nngh...
Sidra looked around for a moment, trying to figure out how to ask Galaen without alerting Toro... Finally, she coughed lightly and gestured to him to come closer and whispered. "Mm... Galaen? I dunno how to... um... should we let him do that?"
Well, that sounded intelligent, the swirled mare thought in disgust.

The angel's soft grey ears swiveled around, catching the laughter as well as Sidra's whispered query. "he needs to learn to use it, and such play is a good way to do so. He's too young for it to be very strong yet so shouldn't cause too much trouble. Unfortunately, there isn;t anyone with that gift here to teach him, we'll just have to muddle along as best we can."

At that point Gala would be able to see Iero running through the grass following the group...doing a very poor job at staying out of Gala's sight and giggling all of the while.
"Well," Toro says "we're here. What do we do now?" He yawns and settles down in the shade. Very quickly he's napping.

Sidra just sighed. 'We'll just have to muddle through' hadn't been what she wanted to hear, but it wasn't terribly surprising. Toro seemed to be taking this all very well, she reflected as she watched the colt curl up and fall asleep almost immediately.
"Galaen, will you stay here and watch him? I'm too restless to sit still and I want to see what I can find of where his parents have gone to."
Privately, it seemed to the mare that Galaen could probably do with some rest as well- the thing with the hawk had clearly shaken him. Besides, Sidra needed a moment to think and she was more emotionally prepared to deal with a hawk's kill than a small child!

"Assuradly, bright lady," Galaen was happy to stay behind. "I want to check something out myself. I believe what we were hearing may not have been all of young Toro's work, but the mischief of one of my kind around as well."
