The crowd gave a cheer for Drako, and knowing that he wouldn't give up that easily. Avari, however, knew that he would have to press on.
He looked to transition over and get Damone into a headlock on the mat, trying to grind him down slowly.

caught in the headlock after just taking a shot to the head is a play Drako himself would have done. Unfortunately, that leaves him quite prone and having to find a way to fight from underneath.
Turning his body towards Avari, the challenger attempts to get his legs under him and force them both back to a vertical base

There were some moments of struggle, but Drako was using brute force strength to push both men back up to their feet. Cunning from potentially the greatest of all time.
Once on their feet, Fusion was a little worried, but he tried to lock in the headlock and press down harder.

with his feet under him, Drako feels the added pressure in the headlock. But vertical means leverage, at least more than before, as he wraps his arms around Avari's waist and attempts to lift him up and drop him backwards with a back suplex

Up and.. down hard against the unforgiving canvas.
Avari arched his back as he felt the pain, gritting his teeth, as Drako levelled the match again.

finally free, Drako rolls away and gets to his feet again. Electing to take his first really big chance of the match, Drako runs to the ropes, springboarding off and aiming to hit the champion with a moonsault

Superb was the only way to describe Drako Damone's moonsault, as the Soaring Dragon took to the air like no one else can.
He landed on Avari, in equal measures beautiful and devastating.

the knocked some of the wind out of Drako, as it always did, but that didn't stop him from going straight into a pin attempt

The ref dropped to the mat again..
One!
Two!
Th-!
A kick-out at two, as the ref called over. The transitions in this match were something to behold, neither men were letting up.

the kickout forces Drako to sit back on his knees, letting out a huff. Whether that was from frustration or simply sucking in air after the impact was up for debate. Still, the match had to go on.
Switching strategies again, Drako gets to his feet again and goes for Avari's legs, aiming to turn him over into a Boston Crab submission hold

"No.. no! NO!"
Avari tried to push Drako away, but the hold was halfway in before he came to his senses and realised what was happening.
The submission was locked in, and Fusion immediately cried out in agony!

with the hold locked in, Drako attempts to sit in low, aiming to add pressure to the submission as he has the champion right where he wants him. The additional advantage is it gives him the chance to recover from having the wind knocked out of him repeatedly over the last couple of minutes. But also, he would happily take a submission victory here if he could
