Brian watched as the Golbat took damage from both the Confusion and the Shadow Claw. He was hoping that would be enough to get it to leave them alone, but unfortunately, the blasted bat got back up and unleashed a Supersonic. Lu and Chase both covered their ears, unable to stand the noise, but Brian only covered one ear, almost unfazed. In reality, he couldn't hear the attack properly, a result of being partially deaf in one ear. He could certainly hear it, but it didn't seem to have quite the same effect on him that it was having on the others. Looking around momentarily, he saw that Riley's Lucario was starting to look dizzy, and he had to assume that the Supersonic's effect had sunk in. He looked at the ground, found a loose rock and picked it up, hefting it in one hand to get a feel for the weight. After a moment, he pulled his arm back and chucked the rock at the Golbat, hoping he could stop the attack long enough for Lu or Chase to get one more hit on the Poison/Flying-type. Then again, it didn't look like it would take too much more to knock it out, so perhaps this would do the trick.

Brian would beam the Golbat with rock, said rock hitting it square in between its eyes and causing it to fall backwards, tripping over its own feet, and hitting the ground hard instantly knocking itself out. Golbat fainted.
Riley would shake off the ringing in his ears and recall his Lucario to help it recover from its confusion before turning his attention back to Brian. "You got a mean arm on you, nice throw." He complimented Brian. "The wild Pokemon will likely get more aggressive the deeper we go so keep an eye out. Let's get back on track." Riley warned Brian before setting off.
The two humans and their Pokemon would walk for several minutes, coming across plenty more mining equipment along the way. They'd also pass by a hiker that was apparently taking a break from his trek, Riley giving him a wave in passing. As they continued Riley spoke to Brian. "Tell me, Brian, are you familiar with the Pokemon Chimchar?"

Brian watched as the rock he'd thrown smacked the Golbat right between the eyes, sending it reeling and knocking it out. Giving a sigh, he lowered his left hand, looking at the others as they uncovered their ears. Riley's compliment made him smile wryly. "I used to explore caves back in Hoenn when my dad would take me hiking as a kid," he said. "Being as I didn't have a Pokemon of my own at the time, rocks were all I had to keep aggressive wild Pokemon at bay, so I learned quick how to throw to hit sensitive points." Hearing the wild Pokemon would be getting more aggressive had him nodding. "They probably see us as intruders in their territory," he said.
His eyes were never still as they walked, always watchful for threats that might be hidden in the shadows. Thankfully, the next several minutes were relatively uneventful, the only other living being they would see being a hiker taking a break. Brian gave a friendly nod to the man, trudging after Riley. Hearing Riley's question had Brian shrugging a bit. "I've met a few," he said. "I don't know as much about them as I'd like, but I know that when they evolve, they go from Fire-types to Fire and Fighting, just like Torchic and Tepig."

"Ah, that's interesting. I used to do a lot of cave exploring as a child myself, especially these." Riley said as he gestured around the general area. "And you're correct, the wild Pokemon here don't like guests, but what wild Pokemon do?" He chuckled softly. "Either way, I ask about the Chimchar species because not only do I having a mining and training operation on this island but I also have a contract with the region's professor, Professor Rowan, that is I aid him in the reproduction of the starter Pokemon Chimchar. As you may know like most starter Pokemon Chimchar are rare or functionally extinct in the wild and require special breeding environments to assure a supply to provide new trainers with. On the backside of this island is such a place. Would you be interested in visiting it?"

Brian wasn't surprised to hear that Riley used to explore the caves they were in. It made sense, given he owned the mining rights on the island. He had to chuckle in agreement at Riley's comment about the wild Pokemon. He'd met very few that 'liked' having humans in their territory, and even saying that was a stretch. It was the next bit of information he received that had him stopping in his tracks for a few seconds. Wait, he was being given a chance to visit one of the facilities that housed a breeding area for a starter, specifically Chimchar? "I'd love to!" he said, picking up his speed to catch up again. "I'd heard that starters had to be bred in special facilities or areas that suited their needs, but I've never actually been to one of them before. Getting to visit one of those is a dream come true for any Pokemon breeder!" Realizing that he might have gotten a little overexcited, he cleared his throat a bit. "Apologies, my parents run a daycare in Littleroot Town," he said. "I've always admired Pokemon breeders for the work they do, and eventually, I'd like to possibly become a Pokemon breeder and take over my parents' daycare, once they decide they're ready to retire."

"Excellent, then we will take a little bit of a detour before we go deeper into the mine. Follow me, it will get a little dark so stick close." Riley said as he proceeded forward. The man would work on the typical path for a few minutes before he suddenly took a turn down a narrow corridor, just wide enough for them to walk through, a little over an inch of space from their shoulders to the walls. As warned this corridor was dark, the only light provided from the lights outside of the corridor, no lights in it. They would walk down this corridor for what seemed like an eternity, going deeper and deeper into the darkness until their human eyes would fail them, seeing nothing but blackness but that didn't seem to bother Riley.
"You can't see, can you?" Riley called out to Brian behind him. "What if I told you I can? That is, through aura." He informed the trainer as they walked through the darkness, Riley not once bumping into the walls in the dark. "With aura you can scan the area around you within a limited range, similar to radar. Our Lucario can do this naturally but with enough training we can too, I can. This is but one ability you can also learn. Where eyes fail aura doesn't. I've heard tale of blind monks that live completely normal lives thanks to their aura abilities."
They would walk a few minutes further into the darkness before Riley stopped and declared. "Here we are. Stand back." The next thing Brian knew he heard a click sound and then the sound of a rising door as light began to pour in from in front of him, the smell of the sea blowing in. Riley would step through this 'door of light' and once Brian did as well he'd find himself standing in a grassy field surrounded by tall jagged rocks that shielded this place from the outside. Littering this field were numerous trees and in those trees were countless Chimchar, playing with each other and running around joyously. A small building was erected off to the side as well, just big enough to house a single person.
"Welcome to what I call Chimchar Paradise." Riley said as he gestured at everything in front of them.

Brian obediently followed along behind Riley, recalling Chase for the Kirlia's safety since Chase didn't have innate aura abilities, and to keep him from getting separated from the group. The narrow path they came to looked daunting, but Brian kept going, not bothered by the complete darkness. Lu walked behind him, and he followed the sound of Riley's footsteps. Hearing Riley's voice, he jumped a bit. The sound didn't quite echo, but it still seemed loud in the narrow space. "No, not at all," he said. "Wait, that's something ye can do?" He'd never heard of this ability, but it made sense that Lucario was able to do it. Was this how blind people managed to make their way around? Hearing about the monks made it seem like it, though he had to wonder how many people could actually use aura to any degree. Certainly not many to the degree that Riley could. Would he eventually be able to do that?
When Riley's footsteps stopped, Brian did the same, waiting until he heard a click. The sudden light from the door opening in front of them blinded him momentarily, and he could smell salt water. It had been some time since he'd been able to smell that scent, and he realized how much he missed it. When Brian followed Riley through the doorway, he blinked as his sight adjusted, and when it did, his eyes widened as he took in his surroundings. He could see why this place hadn't been found by outsiders, if the tall, jagged rocks were anything to go by. They formed a natural barrier. One would have to know exactly where this place was to actually find it. He could see a lot of Chimchar here, playing around the various trees and in the grass. He wasn't sure what the small building off to the side was for, but didn't ask, figuring Riley would tell him if he wanted him to know. "This place is beautiful," he breathed, awestruck by the beauty of the place. "I can see why ye call it Chimchar Paradise."

"Thank you, I've invested a lot of time and money in making sure it was just that for the Chimchar. Here they want for nothing as they prepare to one day set out to be paired out with their destined trainer." Riley said with a smile as he watched the Chimchar happily play, a couple ceasing their play after taking note of the strange human with Riley. By they knew it several Chimchar were gathering around Riley and climbing up him, trying to get his attention as he pet them while a couple leery ones approached Brian, hesitantly sniffing them and one trying to poked his leg. They were curious.
"Chim?" The bravest Chimchar muttered as he poked Brian a few times before pulling on his pants leg, as if to get his attention as it looked up at him.
"Looks like that one has taken a shine to you. Go ahead, pick it up, I've never known these guys to bite." Riley offered Brian to pick up the babe.

Brian could tell that Riley loved this place. It was written all over the man's face. Brian wondered if he could ever contribute to something like this, something that would make the world a better place for a specific Pokemon, then realized that was impossible for him. He didn't just want to cater to one species, he wanted to help them all. He spotted a few Chimchar that had seen them, and he couldn't help chuckling as they swarmed Riley. He felt the tugging at his pants and looked down to see a few Chimchar standing there, one closer than the others. This one was looking up at him, and he could see a fire in its eyes. Brian knelt down so that he was on the Chimchar's level, or as close to it as he could be, anyway. "Hello, there," he said, offering a hand for the little one to sniff. Once the Chimchar seemed alright with Brian touching him, he picked the Fire-type up in his arms as he stood up again, but the little one wasn't content with just that. Instead, he climbed up until he was standing on Brian's shoulders, his head poking over the top of Brian's as he surveyed things from his new perch. "Like the view?" he asked, chuckling as he looked up at the little Fire-type.

Riley smiled as he watched Brian pick up the Chimchar and hold him in his arms, the little Chimchar proceeding to put its hands on Brian's face and touch him, the baby curious about this strange human. The other man would go to say something but before he could a loud explosion rocked the entire island causing the many Chimchar to panic and flee into the trees, the one Brian holding burying its face in his shirt, shivering all the while.
"What was-...that..." Riley began to question what happened but he quickly saw what it was as an Aerodactyl descended from the sky, a man on its back. The man was dressed in what could only be described as a fusion of a Team Rocket grunt's uniform with a classic trope of a stereotypical archaeologist with a stylistic image of a Helix fossil on the chest. "Who are you!?" Riley demanded to know as he gripped a Pokeball, the Aerodactyl landing on the ground and growling at Riley as its rider got off.
"Who am I? It's not who I am it's who we are! We are Team Eolith, reborn!" The man said as he took out a magnifying glass and raised it to the air for a second before putting it over his eye. "And you appear to be the famous Riley, owner of Iron Island! Well mister Riley, I've been given the pleasure of informing you that your island is now a protected dig site underneath the care of Team Eolith! I suggest you and your friend immediately vacate the area before anymore priceless historical artifacts are damaged. Otherwise you'll become historical as well, got it?" He said, pointing his magnifying glass at his Aerodactyl who roared defiantly at Riley and Brian.
"...Brian, think you can take care of this one while I go see what that explosion was?" Riley asked his friend as he kept his eyes on the Aerodactyl. "The Chimchar here must be protected but I have to ensure the safety of my workers became in the mines."

Brian didn't move as the Chimchar touched his face, careful not to startle it. He'd always loved interacting with young Pokemon; they viewed the world with a wonder that humans just didn't have anymore. The sudden explosion startled Brian, who instinctively clutched the Chimchar he was holding as the infant buried its face in his shirt, trembling. With a growl, he looked back toward the mines; who had the insanity to attack Iron Island, especially with Riley here? A feeling of hostility drew his eyes upward as an Aerodactyl descended, a human on its back. Brian stared at the newcomer with a mixture of confusion and bewilderment. Team Eolith?
"Team Eolith?" he asked. "Never heard of ye. What exactly--" He was cut off by Riley's request, and gave a nod. "Go," he said. "I can take care of this wanker." This moron had just disturbed the peace of a place that was protected, and he was going to find out just how steep a price he had to pay for such a mistake. As he turned his attention back to the moron wearing the stupid getup, he narrowed his eyes. The Aerodactyl would pose some problem, sure, but he knew that he could beat it. "Rock Tomb, trap it!" he called, and Lu obeyed, summoning large rocks to try and surround the Aerodactyl.

"Never heard of us!? Well today will be- hey!" The grunt started speaking, winding up for a long tangent no doubt, however Brian and his Lucario would cut him off as sharp pillars of rock jutted out of the ground all around the Aerodactyl, stabbing into it and holding it in place. "Gah! So you want to fight, huh!? Well it's time we make you extinct! Bulldoze!" The Eolith grunt commanded.
With a defiant cry the Aerodactyl would gain a coat of Ground energy before flailing around with its wings and head, shattering the rocks that held it in place before it reared backward and slammed down on the ground with its wing hands, unleashing its stored up Ground energy into the Earth and sending it flowing towards Lucario. The Ground would begin to churn up and fold into itself like a small wave of rock and dirt, rushing towards Lu as it built up mass collected from the destroyed rocks. By the time it made it to Lu it was about the same size as the Lucario, threatening to slam right into him.

"I don't give a Rattata's arse who ye are," Brian growled. "Ye've disturbed the peace of this sanctuary, and ye're going to pay dearly for it." He wasn't surprised that the Aerodactyl managed to free itself from the Rock Tomb, though his plan wasn't to actually trap it. He was banking more on the speed drop at the moment, something Lu would take advantage of as she put her paws together and shot a larger than normal Water Pulse at the wall of dirt heading her way, intending to either part the wave, or slow it and turn it into mud. If it worked, she would immediately use Extreme Speed to run to one side, then fire a rapid fire Aura Sphere barrage, fully intending to overwhelm the Rock/Flying-type.

The Water Pulse would crash into the incoming Bulldoze, the two attacks cancelling each other out. In that moment the grunt would note the sudden shift to Extreme Speed and correct deduce that Lu would follow up with another attack and proceeded to command his Aerodactyl. "Wing Attack!" The grunt commanded.
The first of the Aura Sphere barrage would slam into the Aerodactyl, the prehistoric Pokemon letting out a pained cry before it finally got off the ground and sent itself on a collision course of Lu. The Pokemon would dodge the next Aura Sphere, now it would turn back around to follow it but it didn't care, it had a plan. Aerodactyl would quickly close the gap before finally slamming into Lu wing first, taking them both to the ground with the other Aura Sphere following it still. If it timed it right the dinosaur would attempt to snatch the smaller Lucario in its mouth and throw him at the Aura Sphere at the last second.

Brian watched as the Water Pulse cancelled out the Bulldoze, but what happened next wasn't anticipated. The first Aura Sphere hit, but the second one was dodged, apparently uncaring that it would come back around. Lu could tell the Aerodactyl was planning something; she just didn't know what. She took the brunt of the Wing Attack, latching onto the Aerodactyl's neck as it brought her to the ground. "Do it, Lu!" Brian called, seeing what his partner had planned. Aerodactyl could try to bite her all it wanted; since she was in such close proximity to it, there was no way it was getting away from this next one. Placing both paws against the underside of the prehistoric carnivore's jaw, she ignited a double Force Palm, hoping to distract it long enough that the remaining Aura Sphere could hit.
