After their nap, Rachel and Rainer decided to head further into the area. A Chinchou caught Rainer's eye, but before he could approach the little Water/Electric-type, it vanished beneath the water it was resting in, thus preventing a battle. Rainer gave a disappointed noise, and Rachel picked him up to place him on her shoulder. This seemed to appease the Eevee, as he rubbed his cheek against Rachel's, making her giggle as the two kept going.

Canyon Biome
A cry of a Pokemon caught Rainer's attention, and he turned to see what it was, but all he could see was a flash of blue and white as the Pokemon fled. "Was that the same Swablu we battled earlier?" Rachel asked, confused. That would explain why it didn't want to battle; they'd nearly beaten it, and Rachel's failed attempt to capture it must have made it decide they weren't worth battling again. This one must dislike the idea of being captured.

Rachel and Rainer were caught off guard by the next Pokemon that appeared. This one made more sense, given where they were, but they still hadn't expected to actually run into one. The Drilbur that popped up out of the ground right in front of them eyed them curiously. Wasn't it wary of people? It didn't seem to be, given it had climbed out of the ground and took a stance that indicated it was looking to train. Rachel wasn't going to just leave it there, so she gave Rainer a nod, and the Eevee jumped to the ground to face his opponent. The Drilbur gave a cry as it used Mud Slap, and unfortunately, Rainer couldn't get out of the way and took the attack. It splashed into his eyes, making him paw furiously at his eyes as the Drilbur shot forward in a Drill Run. This sent Rainer tumbling backward, grimacing in pain. Rachel knew that Drill Run had a heightened chance to land a critical hit, but she could see that one hadn't done any more damage than normal.
"Rainer, use your ears and try to listen for your opponent!" she said, gaining the Eevee's attention. He gave a nod and turned to face where he thought his opponent was, only to find he couldn't hear it anymore. He could barely feel the ground trembling, and he dodged to one side as the ground underneath him erupted as the Drilbur executed a Dig attack. This surprised the Ground-type, who was left wide open for Rainer to hit with a Shadow Ball. Rachel had directed her partner where to attack, and it hit home, making the Drilbur cry out in pain as he was hit directly afterward with a Swift attack. This seemed to do more damage than usual, and Rachel could see that had been a critical hit. The Drilbur didn't look like it could take much more damage.
While Drilbur was reorienting itself, Rainer dunked his head in a nearby puddle, effectively washing the mud from his eyes. This allowed him to rush forward with a Trailblaze, raising his speed and sending the Drilbur reeling once again. The Ground-type couldn't take much more, and a Bite attack sent it into unconsciousness. Rainer gave a satisfied nod as he limped back to Rachel, who picked him up to check him over. He had a few scratches from that little skirmish, and she could see a spot of blood on one of his hind legs, where he'd gotten hit with the Drill Run. "Come on, Rainer, I think we've had enough," she said, ruffling the Eevee's ears fondly as he protested. "You've taken a lot of damage, and I'm not going to risk you getting seriously injured because you want to keep going. You need to learn when to quit, buddy." The Eevee deflated upon hearing this, and he gave a sulky nod as he allowed Rachel to carry him back to the starting area. She let the contest organizers know what she'd captured and returned the one Safari Ball she hadn't used, explaining that her partner Pokemon for the contest had been injured and she wanted to get him checked up.

A bit later on, Tsuki caught sight of a Snubbull in the distance. A pretty common sight, but he had never raised a Fairy type Pokemon before. Knowing he still had plenty of time to gamble with, he chose to skip it and pivot later down the line. Besides, he knew how much of a sleeper those could be. “Yeah, let’s be quick and quiet about this one.” He said, scooting around and power walking as fast as he could until the dog was out of sight.

Now it was a Golett that caught Tsuki’s attention. He did seriously consider stopping to catch this one- having seen videos of trainers riding on flying Golurks. But no, he already had a handy ground type and ghost type at his disposal. Coffee really did need some better move variety though, now that he thought about his Cofagrigus. He’d make an effort to give the Unovan ghost some attention later. As for now though? Skip.

“Cra-brawler!” Tsuki heard roaring in the distance, a Pokemon he hadn’t encountered personally but was well aware of from his studies. Crabrawler was a nasty fighting and ice type Pokemon and would make a great addition for his team- but he had already decided that catching an unruly monstrosity was something he wasn’t ready for. So he decided to run away from it, hoping it wouldn’t give chase. Just in case, he scooped Makara from the top of his head and held the little bird closely. As a Toucannon it would stand a fair chance. But as it was now? Unlikely.

Now a… Qwilfish? Tsuki saw it stick its head out of the water and gave him a look. He wasn’t familiar with whatever form that one had and it didn’t look shiny either. Regardless, from what he knew about them, they weren’t anything to take too seriously. Besides… something about waterbound dark types gave him a sense of panic that he tried to not think about.
“C’mon, I’d rather not deal with this one.” He said to the Pikipek in his arms.

“Hey pal, I don’t want anything to do with you!” Tsuki called out once he saw the Qwilfish following him from the water. Should he battle it? He considered it. No, no at this point he wanted to focus his efforts on finding something he wanted to catch and then spend his remaining time training- if he had any left.
“Go find your friends and bother someone else, yeah?”

And now, now that his Qwilfish issues seemed to be handled and gone, Tsuki came across an Alolan Sandshrew. If you wanted to call it that- where was the sand anyway? He should his head. Not a Pokemon he was interested in and it would easily wall anything Makara could throw at it. He’d walk past that one and try to keep a better eye out in the icy tundra of the Terarium.
Was that a pun? God damn it.

“Aw, a Lapras!” Tsuki pointed at the ferry Pokemon excitedly. He knew that one for sure, a steadfast water type if he ever knew one (and he did). If he didn’t already have Baja, he’d have caught it for sure. But alas, they’d just be competing for the same role in the party. He shook his head disappointingly and walked away from the Lapras. It was nice though, to see one out and about. Conservation efforts had done wonders to bring back the Pokemon from the brink of extinction.

A Porygon? Now that… that was interesting. Not good, Tsuki absolutely felt some GRAY induced rage at the sight of it. But interesting nonetheless. With a sigh, he pulled out some bait and honey, tossing the former around as he walked, and lathering the latter on a spruce bush he found. Surely that would get the attention of enough Pokemon to get the one he was looking for… right?
Right?
(Bait used, reducing range down to 1-25. Honey used, making 25 and 23 the same as 24.)

And then finally, as though, that was all Tsuki needed to do, he saw what he was looking for. Carefully pointing at the creature, the trainer crouched low- wait why are you standing upright. No, no , no-
“BUNNY!” Tsuki yelled, leaping at the Skorbunny. He went in for a nose dive, Makara flittering out of his arms as he did so. The fire type leapt agilely as the human dove face first into a pile of snow. Landing on his butt, the Pokemon kicked him there and jumped off to run away. The teen turned around and shot a glare, only to see the starter Pokemon… snickering? As almost to ask him what was going on? He gave chase, again, this time gesturing over to his bird in the air.
“Makara, Screech from the air. Weaken its defenses!” Tsuki called out, his Pikipek soaring past his running trainer only to chirp aggressively at the Skorbunny once he had caught up with it. The hare raised an eyebrow at the bird, jumping up and Double Kicking Makara to use him as a pad from which to jump off of. Tsuki stared a bit in awe for a moment. That critter could move alright. Thankfully Makara wasn’t down for the count yet- yet being a very operative word here. He had been slowly worn down by his previous fights, healing or no.
That didn’t change Tsuki’s objective though. “Time to push past your limits lil bird, use Fury Attack!” He called out, still running, still keeping a solid pace behind the running Scorbunny. It didn’t seem like it was trying to get away, the way it circled around made him think it was messing with him. Makara didn’t care any though, dive bombing the rabbit for some revenge. He pecked and pecked at the Scorbunny, aiming for its back as it ran. Five times he struck before it retaliated by using Quick attack to flash step behind him and kick him down onto the icy ground- knocked out.
Tsuki stifled a curse and returned Makara. He didn’t have enough breath in him to spare a few reassuring words, the Scorbunny making himself take advantage of all the physical training he had been doing since he started his channeling training with Raiden. Without it, he wouldn’t have had the endurance to keep running at this pace, or to whack the snowball that the wild Pokemon threw at him with a giggle. When it came to a full stop, Tsuki had so much momentum that be stumbled forwards and tripped over the small creature’s outstretched foot. “Dude! Enough with the slapstick!” He spat, sending out the Pokemon he didn’t need to train as much now: Grumps his Hypno.
Outstretching a hand, Tsuki gave his command. “Light Screen- trap it!” Grumps, with a nod, waved his hands in square formations before summoning pink constructs of psionic energy. He threw them like frisbees, each one landing next to another to form a ring around the no pinned Scorbunny. “And now, like we trained: Focus Blast!” Throwing one more psychic plate, Grumps leapt atop it and leapt once more with a hand raised to the sky. In his hand grew a ball of swirling purple and brown chi which grew until it was size of a small sedan. At the arc of his leap, Grumps threw it down and sent it barreling down towards the pinned creature. Like a bomb dropping on unsuspecting victims, Grumps’ attack exploded upon impact much to Tsuki’s concern. That had gotten kind of heated really fast. Was that overkill?
Upon seeing a body fall from the sky, Tsuki decided that yes he absolutely did go overboard. The Scorbunny landed, harmlessly and without a scratch, before elbowing Grumps. The Hypno looked down, confused.
In Poke speak, the Scorbunny said ”Eh, what’s up Doc?” before delivering the second half of his Bounce move to the gut of his fellow Pokemon with a kick. Grumps fell backwards, not done but still in shock. Tsuki’s eye twitched. Maybe they hadn’t gone overboard. Heck, maybe not by a longshot.
“Psychic.” Tsuki said in a deadpan tone. Grumps, on his back, put out a hand a levitated the Scorbunny telekinetically and without effort before spinning it wildly and slamming it onto the ground. And then he did it again. And then he spun it around so quickly, when he let go he sent the poor thing flying. Tsuki exchanged glances with Grumps. “Really? I need to capture that guy.” His Hypno shrugged, not particularly caring. The two of them followed to where they saw the Pokemon land. It was on the floor moaning.
Aw, was it hurt? Tsuki approached and knelt down. The Scorbunny beckoned him closer. “Scor… bun bun, scorbunny…” he whimpered. Tsuki knelt closer and inspected the creature. What he expected was to find bruised ribs and a ‘mon in need of healing. What he found was a pair of rabbit feet sending him flying back with a laugh. With his own groan, Tsuki threw a Safari Ball at it to end it’s pranks.

“God- dang it!” Tsuki said, smacking thr ground in frustration as the Pokemon broke free. Where he struck, the ice had started to visibly melt. He shook his head and calmed down. He still had two more goes at this, yeah?
“Grumps, use- where is it?” He asked, looking around only to see it behind him trying to scoot away. Tsuki would have rolled his eyes if only it didn’t mean not keeping an eye on it. Seeing no way out, it fired a barrage of Embers at Grumps to scare him off. Not needing a command here, the Hypno warded off the attack with another Light Screen. With it as a shield, his already natural bulk made it almost a moot attempt. He wasn’t like Makara who you could push around with a paperclip.
“Use Hypnosis now.” Tsuki heaved as he got back up. Grumps pulled put his pendulum and began to swing it back and forth in front of the Scorbunny, luring it to sleep and offering Tsuki a second attempt with a Safari Ball.

Savanah Biome
Crystal and Donne would walk through the biome, taking in the sights and just wondering how on earth they managed to get this place built and functional, underwater… And then started to worry about the practicality of it. “Donne… This doesn’t seem practical. Or logical. Or- Hm?” She paused when a little Happiny crossed their path, curiously looking at them. “Huh. Well... You know, let's let this little one go.” Donne chimed a bit before nodding, the pair continuing on.
