Some hours later, Izanagi's eyes would snap open. The day had been getting away from him, the sun now over half way through the sky. He pushed up, Kihone was sleeping soundly right next to him. He looked down at his body, it was bandaged and the wounds were tended to. He looked over the work thoughtfully. ' That girl musta patched me up while I was asleep' he thought. He glanced around, finding that his newly aquired sword was laying next to the stick that he had swung every day for the past year or more. He pushed himself to his feet, his muscles aching in rebellion at each fiber's strain. His fingers wrapped the worn hilt, it's frayed cotton grip didn't seem to shield his hand from the pain he felt in it. He glanced at his palm, seeing it was bruised slightly. Memories of clashing with Scar-Cheek ran through his head, the heavy weight of each blow and how it made his hands tremble. Using the sword as a crutch to stand, Izanagi pushed to his feet and moved into the oasis, unaware of Reika's location as he wandered forth.

Finding a shaded spot, he would bring the sword to both hands. He felt it's weight, the weight of the lives it had taken as well as the lives Izanagi would need to take if he wanted to save his home. Gritting his teeth he whispered "Find the stupid color or whatever, idiot." He closed his eyes again, feeling the importance of what burden he carried. The blade felt lighter in that moment, accepting what he had to do. In his mind's eye, in the blackness, a spark illuminated as he felt a cold chill that crept across his spine. His eyes would snap open as his mouth fell agape. " C-Chakra!?" he said in a shocked tone as he fixated on the faint, almost translucent glow that seemed to seep only centimeters off the blade's spine. His sudden excitement would cause him to immediately lose focus, anyone who didn't witness the scene would call him a liar, even if anyone did see it, they'd probably have to squint their eyes to see the chakra, but Izanagi knew what he'd felt.

With renewed Vigor, Izanagi would begin his new regiment of training. He'd promised himself he'd do one thousand swings every morning...and it was already past noon. He had to make up for his missed practice already. With heavy, labored breath he would push forward. " One! T-Two! Three!! Four...." he would continue swinging, determined to reach one thousand before Kihone woke up, then he'd start working with Kihone on using that chakra he could swear he saw.

For a time, Kihone rested rather deeply nearby his adoptive brother. In fact, he slept so heavily that he didn't even hear Izanagi stir and get a head start on his own training. "Kiho! Pa's gonna tan yer hide if ya keep sleeping in like'at!" This painfully familiar voice pieced the darkness of his dreamless slumber beside the oasis waters- like a stone "kunai" through a window. "AGH! Not the crickets!" He suddenly sprung to his feet as he made his unprovoked exclamation; his wild brown and green locks of hair were tossed about by the quickness he was ruffling imaginary bugs out of of them. The cloak that Reika blanketed him with was thrown to the side, uprooting the kunai that was pinning it down from blowing away. "Yuna?" He paused, looking for any sign of his sister. He was absolutely certain he'd heard her. However, when it was clear that she was not present, Kihone's teal gaze fell toward the cloak, then toward nearest pond. 'Ama-neechan must've left this for us. She's so cool and thoughtful!' He picked up the cloak and kunai, bundling himself in the former while dangling the kunai on a couple of his small fingers down at his side. Afterward, Kihone approached the waterside and took a few moments to quietly stare at his reflection in the calm water.

Dirt and a couple faint bruises we commonplace for him, so he wasn't too bothered by the sight. Kihone mumbled under his breath as he knelt beside the water, "I miss the way you used to wake me up, Yuna-neesama." He sunk his cupped hands into the water, disturbing his reflection so that he could splash his face and get a drink. At some point, he came to notice the bandages provided for his injury when Scar-cheek hit him into the ground. He thought to himself as he stood back up. 'I hope Nagi is doing okay.' He didn't feel too bad, but he didn't get hurt nearly as much as his brother had. "Who am I kidding? Bro is probably doing something reckless already." Kihone sighed and wiped the rest of the moisture from his face with his sleeve, causing new scuffs of dirt to find place on his forehead, cheeks and chin.

By the time he had his senses about himself, he'd have heard the faint sound of Izanagi counting. It sounded like he was in the upper seven-hundreds. 'Nagi probably isn't pacing himself so he can make up for lost time. Wonder if he's getting tired yet?' He stared in the direction of Izanagi's voice for a moment longer, a wistful expression overcoming his usually curious and eager facial features. "Too bad lost time is just lost." Kihone hadn't done much yet, and his loudly grumbling stomach suggested that a meal would be better than jumping right back into training. He looked around more, this time looking for Reika who might have a suggestion on what to eat around here. However, his hungry eyes first settled on some bright orange fruit in bundles up in a tall tree not far away. "I wonder how those taste? They look juicy!" He thought about climbing up, but his ribs were still a little sore so he just stopped at the bottom of the tree, swinging the kunai back and forth on his fingers as he pondered a strategy. Then it hit him. He had all he needed.

Kihone held up the kunai in front of himself for a moment and focused on that magnetic power he was learning how to use on the throwing knife. "That should do..." He said as he let go of the knife, only for it to now be suspended in the air in front of him. His teal eyes moved up from the hovering blade to the small, round and yummy-looking fruits in the branches above. He wished he could just ask the kunai to do the rest for him, but knew he didn't have anywhere near that kind of skill. He took a deep breath to focus and pointed with his left index finger to help him visualize where he would direct the blade. After nicking some branches, and such, Kihone finally maneuvered the kunai to a branch that he'd seen a good-looking bundle of the fruits and aimed the blade to sever the thin branch. Meanwhile, he darted over to where the fruits would fall and used the cloak as a net to make sure his little hands didn't fail him.

The kunai would fly out of the tree canopy with a glint in the morning sun before returning to Kiho who was waiting for it below. "Nagiiiiii!!! I got breakfast!" He'd bundled the bushel of persmimmons in the tattered cloak, double wrapping it to try to make up for any holes they could fall out of and tied it off with the kunai before taking the small sack to where Izanagi was training. He left one out and took a bite into the fruity flesh of the ripe tomato-like morsel. It exploded with lush flavors in his mouth that he had quite literally never experienced before, only hurrying his feet to show his brother what he'd found. His stomach was getting the better of him, so he just hoped Reika was over here helping Izanagi so he could share some delicious fruit with her too.

The sun hung higher now, casting warm light across the oasis Reika had shaped into existence. The boys remained asleep beneath her worn cloak, their steady breathing proof that they were finally getting the rest they desperately needed. Trusting the tranquility of the moment, Reika quietly rose to her feet and stretched, her muscles stiff from hours of sitting vigil. Her gaze lingered on the makeshift village she was carving into the desert. So far it was only a fragile yet promising reflection of what she hoped to create in this harsh land. She wasn't quite sure if she could turn the desert into a forest, but that would be her ultimate goal.

Hunger scratched at her stomach, a reminder that her body needed food as much as her dreams needed willpower. Moving toward one of the trees she had created earlier, its lush green leaves swaying faintly in the arid breeze, she reached up and plucked two ripe apples. The fruit was a small triumph, vibrant and full of life where only barren sands had been before. Settling against the base of the tree, Reika bit into the first apple, its crisp sweetness offering a fleeting moment of comfort. She ate in relaxing silence, only wind, leaves, and water as ambient noise, savoring the simplicity of the act, her thoughts drifting to the days when her clan had shared meals under the shade of trees just like this one. When the apples were gone, Reika brushed her hands against her clothes, shaking herself free of sentimentality and clasping both hands against her face before putting her gloves back on. There was work to be done. Rising to her feet, she walked toward the larger of the two pools she had created earlier, its surface shimmering like liquid glass beneath the sunlight. She knelt at the water’s edge and closed her eyes, centering herself as she began to mold her chakra. The energy flowed through her body, an almost tangible current, pooling at her feet. Reika stood and took a tentative step onto the water’s surface, her chakra keeping her balanced atop the delicate ripples. She practiced walking slowly at first, remembering how it felt the last time she'd attempted it, her movements deliberate and focused. Each step was measured, her chakra spreading evenly across her soles to maintain her weight and balance without disturbing the stillness of the water. As her confidence grew, her pace quickened, her steps becoming light and fluid. The surface of the water remained undisturbed, a testament to the precision she had worked tirelessly to hone.

Satisfied with her progress, Reika moved to the towering stone walls she had raised from the sands. She changed the pattern of the chakra from push to pull as she leapt onto the vertical surface, her chakra now clinging to the stone as she walked along its sheer face. The heat of the desert sun warmed the rock beneath her feet as she moved with deliberate care, testing her control with each step. Once she reached the top, the view revealed the full scope of her work. The oasis, the walls, the small patches of green sprouting in the sand was a sight to behold when compared to the diminishing life that surrounded it. For a moment, she allowed herself to feel pride in what she had accomplished, but the moment passed quickly as she focused her eyes on the only village remaining in the Land of Wind. "That must be Sorai that the boys were talking about. We'll head there next and help them prepare for the bandit's arrival."

Returning to the ground, by sliding down the vertical wall, Reika jumped half way down so that she would land into an open patch of sand between the two pools. Here, she focused her attention on her earth jutsu training, a skill she was eager to refine for close quarters combat. She inhaled deeply, grounding herself as she brought her hands together. This time, instead of forming traditional hand seals, she moved her arms in a fluid, almost dance-like motion, the energy flowing from her fingertips into the ground beneath her. The earth responded, trembling softly at first, then more violently as a half-dome of stone began to rise before her. The structure arched upward, its surface smooth and seamless, a testament to her growing mastery of precision. She held it steady for a moment, then forced it to sink back into the sand, the vibrations in the earth subsiding as the land reclaimed the stone and disappeared into the sand as if it was never there, minus the small lines where the sand had been displaced. Again and again, Reika repeated the process, her movements becoming more refined with each attempt. Each wave of her hand seemed to channel her will directly into the earth, bypassing the rigid structure of seals. The ground beneath her shuddered with every rise and fall of the dome, the sheer force of her jutsu leaving faint marks in the sand as it had each time. "Next I'll have to practice this with the water style and the wood, too," she said with a slight joyous tone in her voice.

The twin pools Reika had created shimmered under the morning sun, their surfaces mirror-like and still. Standing between them, Reika rolled her shoulders and steadied her breath. Her blue eyes gleamed with determination as she prepared to train with one of the most powerful Water Style techniques she had learned: the Water Dragon Projectile. She raised her arms gracefully, the movements fluid and deliberate, like a dancer preparing to step onto the stage. The air around her seemed to pulse as she focused her chakra, directing it toward the pool on her left. Instead of the long string of hand seals traditionally required for this technique, Reika relied on her mastery of motion. Her arms swept upward, her hands carving an invisible path through the air. The water in the pool began to churn, swirling with increasing intensity. Small waves rippled outward as the surface bulged unnaturally. Her movements became sharper, her fingers slicing through the air like a conductor directing an orchestra. The water followed her command, rising into a towering column that twisted and writhed. Slowly, the liquid mass took on the form of a dragon, its serpentine body coiled with ferocious energy.

With a final sweeping gesture, Reika thrust her palms upward. The dragon roared to life, surging up above the sandy expanse with astonishing speed. Its body shimmered in the sunlight as it streaked down towards the second pool. The impact was thunderous and the ground shook with its violent crash. Water exploded outward in a geyser, soaking the surrounding dunes and sending glittering droplets into the air. Even at a distance of a hundred yards, the spray reached far enough to dust the landscape with a fine mist. Without missing a beat, she'd spin on her heel, pivoting to face the second pool. She began again. Her movements were more refined this time, the transition between gestures smoother. The second dragon rose from the water, its form even more defined than the first. She directed it back toward the first pool with a graceful sweep of her arm in diligent focus. The cycle continued. Each dragon she formed seemed to move with greater precision, its strikes more controlled. The pools churned with activity, their water levels carefully maintained by Reika’s alternating attacks. Massive splashes cascaded high into the air, creating temporary rainbows in the desert light.

Her chakra surged with every repetition, and the strain began to creep into her limbs. Sweat beaded on her forehead, her breathing grew heavier with each dragon unleashed. Still, she pressed on, determined to perfect the fluidity of her movements and the ferocity of the attack. Finally, after a half dozen iterations, the young girl paused. She stood between the pools, her hands resting lightly on her knees as she caught her breath. The pools were no longer pristine, though. They churned with residual ripples from the repeated impacts, their surfaces disrupted but still glistening. The sand beneath her feet was soaked, darkened by the displaced water and spray that had drenched the area during her training. A soft breeze carried the scent of fresh water, a stark contrast to the arid desert beyond the oasis. For a moment, this place felt like her real home. The breeze carried moisture just like the forest.

Reika straightened, rolling her shoulders back as exhaustion settled into her muscles. Despite the weariness, a flicker of pride sparked within her. The technique was far from flawless, but the progress she had made was undeniable. Each sweeping motion felt more instinctive, her body learning to channel chakra without the rigid structure of hand seals. She glanced at the pools, now beginning to settle back into their natural stillness, the surface reflecting the soft hues of the fading light. A small smile tugged at her lips. This was growth. Pushing her limits, shaping her will, and bending the world around her to match her resolve. Each day brought her closer to her dream. But just as she allowed herself a moment of satisfaction, a sudden wave of emptiness surged through her. Her chakra reserves plummeted, leaving her limbs heavy and unresponsive. Before she could steady herself, her legs gave out, and she toppled backward into the soaked sand with a muffled thud. The cool dampness seeped through her clothes as she lay sprawled on the ground, her chest heaving with ragged breaths. A weak chuckle escaped her lips, followed by a wry, breathless murmur. "Ouch." She closed her eyes for a moment, focusing on the rhythmic inhale and exhale as her body fought to recover. Even drained and battered, she felt the undeniable satisfaction of having pushed herself to the brink.

Izanagi gritted his teeth through each downward swing, forcing his trembling arms to lift the sword back up despite the screaming protest of his shoulders. The desert sun beat down upon him and the searing heat clung to his skin, mingling with the sting of sweat and fatigue. Somewhere around the hundredth repetition, his mind began to wander, dark images of the bandits and old insecurities looming like ghosts behind his eyelids. 'I won’t fail.' he told himself, trying to imagine every strike cutting down his own fear. Each forward slash made his forearms burn, and each backward draw tugged at the tight ache in his chest. Still, he kept going, determined to prove his worth. By the time he neared the seven-hundredth swing, his vision blurred with exhaustion. His stomach growled loud enough to echo off the walls that Reika manifest, hunger gnawing at his insides. Kihone's voice split his concentration for a moment. The call to food. Breakfast? Izanagi's eyes darted to his brother, seeing the large fruit. He drooled slightly. For a fleeting moment, Izanagi felt a painful pull to abandon the training as his arms yearned to drop the sword, and his aching belly demanded food. But he clenched his jaw, reminding himself of his commitment to one thousand swings a day. If he failed his first day, he'd never succeed. With a shaky breath, he shook his head at his brother and resumed the punishing rhythm, letting the steady repetition drown out his hunger and fatigue. At nine hundred swings, he could barely feel his hands, and each lift made his palms slick with fresh blood where blisters had ruptured. The world narrowed to the hiss of sand underfoot and the pant of his ragged breathing. When he finally finished the thousandth swing, Nagi’s vision swam. The blade clattered against the ground as his fingers refused to hold it any longer, the shock of impact echoing in the silent oasis. Chest heaving, arms limp at his sides, he looked down at his blood-smeared palms. It was a testament to his vow that he would not surrender to weakness. Then, with what remained of his strength, Izanagi staggered to his knees, welcoming the ache as proof he had given everything he had… and a reminder that he could still push even further.

Izanagi moved sluggishly to the nearest pool of water. As he reached it he fell to his knees and looked into the depths of it. His reflection glimmered. He was beaten, ragged and looked nearly dead, but he felt like he was looking into the eyes of a different person than he was yesterday, still. Izanagi plunged his hands into the water, feeling the chilling liquid soothe his bloodied and blistered hands as the red stains of blood diluted into the oasis's water. Izanagi plunged his head beneath the surface next, drinking heavily, so much so that it caused a tightness in his chest. He forcibly pulled his head out, gasping for air. The cold shock and sudden hydration has revitalized him. Moving his hands quickly, he tore a part of his clothing off and made impromptu bandages to wrap his hands with and stop the blisters from direct exposure. "Heyyyyyy Kiho! I'll take one of those yummy looking fruits now!" he exclaimed, looking about to see where Reika had run off to. When the fruit would be passed to him, he would burry his face into the fruit and begin vigorously chomping at it, relishing in the sustenance he was so often denied.

Kihone finished snacking on his first persimmon as Izanagi declined his offer for breakfast so that he could finish his sword swinging practice. Kihone couldn't help but admire Nagi's tenacity most days. Regardless of how haphazard or rambunctious he ever was, he always stayed true to his heart- more so than anyone Kihone had ever known in his few years of knowing some people. He gently dropped them out of Reika's cloak into an almost neat pile in a patch of grass near one of the oasis ponds. He then wrapped himself in the cloak and looked around for any sign of their newfound teacher of ninjaness. It sounded like there were some ground tremors that might suggest more of the rock walls being put up somewhere nearby.

Kiho still didn't feel inclined to do anything nearly as strenuous as Izanagi's one-thousand sword swings, but he did feel like he should still be making good use of his downtime. He didn't hear his late sister's voice nagging him to get moving for nothing. Kihone went back to practicing his chakra control, opting to get better at that for now since it seemed difficult for him to do than swordsmanship. He disintegrated the kunai left by Reika, causing the resulting metal dust to levitate nearby as he drew the katana he claimed from Scar-cheek from its scabbard. The blade was terribly worn with chips and even a few cracks forming along and throughout the blade. There wasn't much he could do about the handle, but Kihone knew the blade definitely had to be fixed or it would probably break next time he used it.

He would spend several minutes first trying to just integrate the metal from the kunai into the sword, but that process was taking too long and it didn't look or feel right when he tried to hold the sword afterward. After a few more tries he got the idea to just break down the whole sword too, and just magnetically remake the blade, tang and all. The only problem was that he had no idea what he was doing. It all sounded dandy in his head, but making it actually happen was hard to manifest outright. Before he touched the sword, he'd spend time making and unmaking Reika's kunai instead. Once he had that down for sure, maybe magnetically reforging the sword wouldn't feel so impossible.

Shortly after Kihone began to lose himself in this rabbit hole, his eyes raised to survey his environment for a few moments until he spotted Reika standing a ways away between a pair of other ponds. She seemed to be extra focused before she started moving around like she were performing some kind of solitary dance. To the boy's surprise, the water would, slowly at first, react with churning swirls and ebbing tides before they spiraled upward and finally turned into a large snake-like form as it danced along with Reika. Kihone's jaw was totally slacked as he stared up at the water dragon before it rushed into the second pond with a boisterous clamoring, "WHOOOAA!!" When a second water dragon exploded out of the other pond Kiho jumped to his feet and exclaimed with Reika's cloak billowing behind him in the aftermath, "THAT WAS TOTALLY WICKED!!" Her water dragon dance was a spectacle to behold, and it easily sparked his eagerness to unlock and master his own ninja powers to be capable of just as amazing things as Reika.

Rain and mist from the display fell upon and scattered throughout the oasis as a sweaty and tired Izanagi dragged himself out of the nearby treeline with a loudly growling stomach. Kihone had to quickly remember that the fruit was just laying around and ran over to stop Nagi from accidentally stepping on any of them. "Right here. Help yourself, Nagi." He paused to look back to Reika again, "Reika-nee is really strong, huh?" He wrapped himself tighter in the time-tested cloak as he stared on admiringly, "I bet she could protect Sorai from those bandits all by herself is she really tried." Almost immediately, he felt a tinge of regret by putting the weight of such an expectation on one person, knowing first-hand how bad things could get if the village wasn't prepared for the coming danger.

Reika slow sat up in the sandy dune of her oasis, knees pulled to her chest as the world around her grew quiet. The surface of the water shimmered, mirroring the light of the sun. Her red hair, tied back loosely, shifted slightly in the desert breeze, but her blue eyes remained distant, fixed on the horizon yet seeing nothing. Her mind wandered to the past- a place she rarely allowed herself to linger for too long. The faces of her clan members, the laughter of the children, her friends, and the steady guidance of the elders filled her thoughts. They were her family, her people, her responsibility. But the memories refused to stay bright when she remembered. The warmth of those moments dimmed, giving way to the shadows of screams, the horrid stench of blood and smoke, and the sight of flames devouring everything she had worked so hard to protect with those monsters laughing and standing over their lifeless bodies.

Reika’s breath sharpened and inhaled faster and faster as the familiar weight of hopelessness settled over her like a shroud. She had poured everything into becoming stronger for them and yet it hadn’t been enough. The faces of her people flickered in her mind, one by one, replaced by the anguish and betrayal etched into their eyes in their final moments. Her strength failed them. Her teacher betrayed her. The memory of Kaoru’s betrayal burned within her like a smoldering ember, the anger she had buried deep threatening to ignite. She clenched her fists tightly, her nails biting into her palms as her mind drifted back to the bandits from earlier. Their cruel laughter, their callous disregard for the lives of the boys, and their twisted existence mirrored Kaoru’s, a mockery of everything she held dear cut down and burned to cinders.

Her breathing steadied, but her demeanor began to shift. The anguish that had weighed her down transformed into something else. Her rage, now sharp and crystalline, began to pulse through her veins like molten fire. The softness in her expression faded, replaced by a cold, unyielding focus. Even from a distance, anyone observing would see the change in her. The gentle, kind figure was gone. In her place stood a warrior, her chakra surging in almost visible waves around her like a storm barely contained. The air grew heavy, charged with an unnatural energy that made the ground tremble beneath her feet. Reika rose slowly, the motion deliberate and unnervingly calm. Her blue eyes gleamed with a piercing intensity, fixed on the barren desert around her. Her hands trembled as she raised them toward the sky, fists tightening with resolve. The chakra pouring from her body reached a tipping point, spiraling outward in all directions like a tidal wave. With a sharp exhale, she unleashed it all at once. A technique she'd only heard about as a child within the village of such magnitude that it could reshape entire landscapes. She could vividly see the result and unconsciously pinpoint the arrival of each sprout that would come forth to grow into a massive monstrosity.

As Reika summoned the last reserves of her chakra, an agonized scream tore from her throat, raw and primal, carrying the weight of her grief, rage, and unrelenting determination. "AAARRRGGGHHHAAAAAAHHHHHH!" The sound reverberated through the barren desert, echoing off the crumbling ruins before being consumed by the massive sequoias erupting from the earth. Massive sequoias burst forth from the sand with an unstoppable force, their roots tearing through the desert floor as if reclaiming their rightful place. The oasis transformed into a lush, dense forest in mere moments, trees towering high into the sky and spreading as far as the eye could see. Her cry was more than pain; it was the release of everything she had suppressed. It was an outpouring of emotion so overwhelming that it seemed to shake the very air around her. The ground trembled beneath her feet as the towering trees surged skyward, their roots spreading with unstoppable force, reclaiming the land in a wave of living defiance against the desolation that had once consumed it. The transformation was both beautiful and terrifying. Every trace of the ruins of Sunagakure, every remnant of the bandit encampment, was consumed by the relentless growth of the forest. The once-barren desert was now unrecognizable, a sea of verdant green where nothing of the past remained.

Despite the immense chakra drain, Reika remained standing, her fists slowly lowering to her sides. Her body trembled slightly, though not from exhaustion. It was as if the storm of emotions within her demanded more of an outlet, but she forced it back, containing it beneath an icy exterior. Her breathing, oddly steady and calm given the magnitude of her exertion, carried an unnatural stillness, a stark contrast to the chaos she had just unleashed. Her blue eyes, once vibrant with determination, now appeared cold and lifeless, fixed unflinchingly on the sky above. The towering sequoias had reached their full height, their massive branches intertwining to blot out the sun's light, casting the entire area in deep, all-consuming shadows. The stark contrast between the lush greenery and the oppressive gloom seemed to mirror the turmoil roiling within her heart. It was a beautiful creation born of unbearable pain.

The wind swept through the forest, whispering through the leaves with an almost mournful tone. The sound was soothing yet haunting, as if the trees themselves understood the weight of her sorrow. The air felt heavier, charged not only with chakra but with the lingering echoes of her rage and despair. For anyone who might have been watching, the sight was both awe-inspiring and deeply unsettling. Reika’s form was silhouetted against the towering giants she had summoned, her posture unnervingly rigid. The shadows clung to her like a second skin, amplifying the quiet intensity she radiated. Though her body stood motionless, the depths of her turmoil were unmistakable. This was her resolve made manifest. It was a testament to the strength she had forged from her grief and the unyielding promise that no one else under her protection would ever suffer the same fate. She wouldn’t allow herself to fail again.

Her fingers curled slightly as her hands hung at her sides, betraying a tension she could no longer conceal. Memories of her village, her people, their screams; they surged unrestrained to the forefront of her mind. Each face she had lost, each voice she would never hear again, etched itself into her consciousness with painful clarity. The rage that had fueled her moments ago began to subside, leaving only a hollow ache in its wake. Slowly, she exhaled, her breath trembling as it left her lips. Her anger dulled, but it did not vanish entirely. Instead, it settled deep within her, a smoldering ember she refused to extinguish. It was a part of her, it always had been, inseparable from her purpose. It was born from her purpose. Reika closed her eyes for a brief moment, her lashes brushing against her cheeks as she wrestled with the raw pain clawing at her insides. The weight of her guilt and self-loathing pressed down on her, threatening to crush her, but she forced herself to stand tall. Her mind, so consumed moments ago by her anguish, began to fortify itself once more. Piece by piece, she locked the pain away, burying it deep where it would not betray her resolve.

The forest around her, though still and silent, felt alive in a way the barren desert never had. The scent of the earth and the rustle of the trees carried a subtle promise of renewal, a future she was determined to create. Yet for Reika, the promise felt distant, as though it belonged to a world she could observe but never truly belong to again. Her fists tightened once more before finally relaxing, her breathing steadying into a rhythmic cadence. She opened her eyes, the coldness in her gaze tempered but not erased. She looked not at the forest she had summoned, but beyond it, toward the horizon. "It won't be for me. It'll be for them." This wasn’t just a testament to her strength or her will; it was a declaration. To herself. To her people’s memory. To the world.

“I won't lose again,” she murmured softly, her voice carrying an edge of satisfying resolve. And as the forest swayed gently in the breeze, the shadows began to shift, no longer overwhelming but blending with the light, as if even the landscape understood the balance Reika sought to restore but not just to the world, but to herself.

Izanagi had just settled on a smooth stone ledge after his punishing morning routine, gingerly cradling the persimmon Kiho handed him in his blistered hands. The cool breeze passing through the oasis brought a slight relief to his battered body, and the tangy sweetness of the fruit on his tongue provided a moment of comfort. He closed his eyes, letting his mind drift while he savored the juicy pulp. The faint rustle of leaves from Reika’s newly grown plants formed a gentle backdrop. The entire area was a testament to her Senju heritage and the quiet miracles of nature she could bring forth in the desert. Nagi looked to his brother as he commented on Reika's water dragon spectacle. Izanagi watched enviously from the corner of his eye. " Yeah, she can do all kinds of stuff." He wouldn't answer Kihone's secondary comment about Reika protecting the village all by herself. He continued to internalize his helplessness here, despite his determination to improve.

Without warning, the ground beneath Izanagi’s feet rumbled, more powerful than any small-scale jutsu he’d felt before. "Uhh...Ki-ho?!" He blurted before a series of massive wooden pillars burst upward nearby, shooting past the height of any building he’d ever seen. Sequoia trunks as wide as houses exploded from the barren earth. Unaware of how close he was until the ground began to quake beneath his bottom, he fought to his feet, stumbling over roots, branches and tendrils of unformed wooden structures that swirled around him. Just as he clamored to his feet and felt stability the earth would begin thrusting him high into the air in mere seconds. Izanagi yelped in alarm and nearly lost his grip on the sword he kept at his side, his blistered hands thrumming with pain from the mornings training still. The sporadic upheaval of wood caused him to slip, suddenly he was rushing toward the earth. He turned his head slightly as he saw the tree tops vanishing in the distance far too quickly. He was going to die. All he could do was ram the sword’s tip into one of the trunks, trying desperately to catch himself. For a heartbeat, he almost succeeded, but the sudden lurch of the sequoia’s upward growth ripped the blade from his trembling hands.

His stomach swam as it fell freely within his stomach, his hands began to swim about, trying to grasp for a branch, a foot hold, a rock, something to save him. In his panic, his vision began to darken. His mind was shutting down from fear. As his life flashed before his eyes once again, memories began to flicker like a film. Reika's calm, steady smile, promise of training, a future. Strength. Koroto's insessent nagging and telling the two of them to refrain from such carelessness. The teachers at the school who spoke of great feats ninja did. 'Wait...what was it they did...' he thought, only a few breaths from a gruesome death. The silent image of the teacher mouthing the words kept playing though his memories, unable to recall their words. Finally, a spark of memory stirred from the desperation. '....all ninja learn to walk on trees by channeling chakra to their feet...' That was it! That's all he had to do?!

Nagi's vision came back to, he was so much closer than a moment ago. The two hundred foot fall would definitely kill him, he'd already decended over half the height. Tucking his knees to his chest and slamming his feet down toward the bark beneath them, Izanagi tried to plant his feet. The coarse bark would shred the soles of his feet at this velocity, causing a scream of pain. "N-not gonna give up!" he roared. Of course controlling chakra would be the requirement to do this. The thing he couldn't do. But those thoughts of doubt were far from Izanagi's mind in this moment. His only thoughts swam around survival. He remembered the feeling he had when he tried to channel chakra into the blade. The feeling, the focus, the calm he felt before acting. Nagi would inhale deeply before a second thrust of his legs would force the tattered bare feet to the bark once more. This time, a slight shimmer of chakra sparked around them, padding the impact. ' It...doesn't hurt as bad this time!' he thought. He looked to the sky above, still watching it shrink rapidly. He only had another 5 seconds before death. " Gotta.....push....harder!" he growled, chakra bursting in spats around his feet before stablizing into a steady, consistent flow. Nagi would lean forward, applying the same method to his hands and hugging the tree as tightly as he could in an attempt to cling to life.

His eyes smashed shut as he braced for impact.

Eyes shut in the blackness, he began to wonder if he'd feel such a deadly impact. Would he know he was dead or would he simply cease to be. It felt like an eternity. "H-hello?" he said. The vibration of his voice against the tightly gripped tree would force his eyes open. He was alive? He was alive! He looked down to see what was left before hitting the ground. A solmn look crossed his face as he realized he was only a few mere inches from the earth. A half second slower and he'd have died. He looked to his feet that were pressed hard against the tree. They glowed with a faint veil of chakra that let them stick ferverously to the surface. Slowly, Nagi's arms would release the bear hug as he would see that he could indeed stand on the vertical surface. "Kiiiiihooooooooooo!!" Nagi shouted in disbelief. " I think I have chakra!"

Wasting no time after the statement, Izanagi would pick his feet up one after another and begin scaling the tree at a begrudging pace until he felt more confident. A confidence that did not last as he realzed how high he was by the time he'd reached his katana embedded toward the top of the tree. He looked down to Reika's location below him and grinned " Reika-neeee. Can I learn to be a ninja now???!"

Combat Modifiers & PA's
Singularity | Jūryokuton users have an inherent gravitational pull towards themselves. Because of this, they are able to utilize close range Taijutsu and Bukijutsu with greater effects, reducing the opponents Agility by half once every [3] posts when using an appropriate Taijutsu or Bukijutsu. Additionally, Jūryokuton are able to cast their Gravity techniques with somatic gestures. Once per [5] posts, gravity chakra can be applied to a complex Taijutsu and Bukijutsu technique which causes the technique to count as spiritual in collisions but loses the stat buff. Using this PA itself never consumes a combat action.
Piercing Accuracy | The clansman is more proficient than his fellow clan members at striking tenketsu. One's gentle fist application allows them to reduce 1.5 times the amount of chakra spent in a juken strike instead of 1.25. For example, if one spends 80 chakra on a gentle fist technique, the attack robs the target of 120 instead of the 100 normal clansmen would reduce.
Purest Lineage | The clansman's thoroughbred lineage allows them access to the Byakugan without the use of a hand seal, chakra cost, or activation. In addition, should they unlock the Tenseigan, they may have 50% less reserves to maintain it than other clan members and may also activate the Tenseigan without the use of a hand seal, chakra cost, or activation.
Signature Style: Infinite One Sword Style

Discipline & Cross Class Abilities
Bukijutsu: Expert [ Katana ] | The user has achieved a sense of mastery and focus unlike others and are known as an Expert, a dedicated focus over a weapon they use to near perfection. The shinobi can pick a single weapon, or two if dual wielding, to apply this focus toward with examples such as Katana, Spear, Bows or even Dual Daggers. They acquire a Keystone technique that is unique to them with an additional 2 Custom Techniques derived of this special ability. Refer to the Keystone Guideline for more information. They gain a [+1] boost to both speed and agility & techniques cost [5] less Chakra and/or Stamina per rank of the technique when wielding attacks with their specialized weapon in attack or defense. With a minimum of 5 chakra or stamina paid.

Bloodline: Dual Ancestry | Dual Ancestry allows you to have full access to two bloodlines upon creation including all techniques, abilities, and personal attributes associated with them. For biographical purposes, your secondary bloodline may be genetic or implanted at your discretion. This discipline gives you [4] bloodline PAs to be used only for the bloodline attributes of your dual bloodlines on top of the [2] personal attributes you receive at base for a total of [6]. If two elemental bloodlines are chosen then the primary bloodline's elemental affinities become your base elements and you gain full access to those elements while your secondary bloodline gives you locked elemental affinities that you cannot learn ninjutsu techniques from but you gain full access to the secondary bloodline. Locked elemental affinities can be unlocked through methods such as ninjutsu class or personal attributes. Elemental affinity personal attributes are automatically allotted to locked affinities. Jiongu users do not have access to Dual Ancestry nor can they be chosen as a secondary bloodline. Dual Ancestry users do not have access to the implant system including the Genetic Palette personal attribute. If you use multiple techniques from both of your bloodlines in the same post without Korabo then those techniques are increased in effectiveness by one rank. This discipline cannot be taken with the Elemental Mastery discipline from Ninjutsu Class.
Bloodline - Bukijutsu Cross Class | Bloodline abilities that effect stats are increased by [1] per rank of the technique. In addition, the user is able to combine a bloodline technique and a bukijutsu technique together for a single action, paying the resource cost of both every three posts.

Kiho would detect a hint of bitterness in Nagi's tone while he was admiring their new teacher's distant visage. He turned to look back to his brother as he reached down to get a second persimmon for himself, but the bundle of them began to rumble and shake about. "N-nagi?!" Several of the fruits rolled off into the pond just as he also heard Reika's piercing scream cleave through the serenity of the oasis. Before any more could be said between the brothers, they were practically catapulted into the rapidly forming canopies of the forest that was devouring the entire landscape- stone walls and all. Kihone fumbled the sword he'd been contemplating fixing in all the confusion, forgoing it to try to hang onto the growing branch that was carrying him up and out into the sky. He lost track of Izanagi in an instant, and admittedly wasn't sure if he had the luxury to worry about him as his instincts were exploding in anticipation for the danger he suddenly found himself in.

Roaring cracks and thunderous snapping dulled out all other noise in Kihone's vicinity as he simply clung to the chunk of bark he'd dug his fingers and feet into. There were a couple moments where he was almost sure he'd lose his grip and fall from however far he'd been forced to climb in these tumultuous moments. He could barely even tell if he was audibly screaming or if he was just gasping for air as he prioritized not to getting swatted off until everything finally stopped moving. Like Izanagi, Kihone didn't dare open his eyes until the end of the wildest ride in the world. Unlike Izanagi, Kihone managed to not get bucked off, finding himself tucked away safely in a lush, leafy cluster of foliage near the highest canopies of the sequoia trees. "I-is it over? Izanagi?! Are you okay?!" Kiho poked his head up out of the leaves and he could not have anticipated the awesomely magnificent and stunningly breathtaking scene laid bare before his bright, young teal gaze. "What in the name of Evergreen...?" A new and absolutely unforgettable horizon on the early day over the Land of Wind stretched out before him and he could almost swear he could see Sorai from up where he was. Not just that, he could see what felt like most of the Land, and could almost make out the coastline in the east. He just looked around, mouth agape as he soaked in every detail of the view. There was so much world out there, even beyond what he could see. "One day... we're gonna go see what else is out there too." It almost felt like a promise to himself before he returned to the reality of his situation.

Lowering his gaze to the forest he was standing atop of, a tiny speck amongst the great canopies that now consumed the location. "I definitely don't have enough rope for this..." He stepped out onto the branch and looked down for a path he could probably jump down, carefully. "Well... I didn't think I had time to figure out the tree climbing technique before found out this was Ama-neesama's oasis." Kiho knelt down and got out a metal ball bearing, attempting to magnetize it to the tree to no avail. "Yeah... I think I should try the ninja way instead of relying on my Full-metal Ninja powers... this time." He pocketed the ball again and took out his notes from class instead. "There it is!" Now that things were done being wild, it was actually really nice being up on top of the trees like this. It was like standing in a field of leaves instead of grass- not that Kihone knew what the latter was like yet, but he had imagined it more often. After reviewing his notes he put the book away again and found another branch that was mostly vertically protruding from the one he was standing on. He focused chakra to his palms and the bottoms of his feet and attempted to crawl up the broad side of the branch a little. It felt like it was very similar to the method he used to magnetize Nagi and himself to the rock wall; however, much less specific about how to make them stick together. After a minute or two of getting the basics of it, he'd focus chakra to just his feet and attempt to walk up the side of the branch.

A couple steps in, and everything seemed to be going pretty well for his impromptu practicing. "Okay... I can do th- ah?" That was until he lost focus for just a split second in a moment of confidence. Chakra focused into the soles of his feet flickered and lost traction, dropping Kihone into a free fall from the highest spaces of the sequoia forest, "WHaaaaaaahhHHH DAAAAaarn iiiitt!!" Wind howled in his ear and Reika's cloak billowed around him as other branches and the ground below become closer very fast. He barely managed to turn himself upright as he could only manage to deflect himself off the first branch to minimize the damage of momentum he couldn't control. "Gotta slow down!!" He cried a hapless suggestion to himself as his small but mighty brain pumped good and bad ideas through in a blur. Kiho quickly grabbed the edges of Reika's cloak just enough to imitate the parachutes he and his brother would make for some of their pranks. The holes in the cloak definitely didn't help much, but it was just enough for a light body such as Kihone's to slow his decent to a manageable rate.

However, in trade for decreased speed, he also lost control of the direction of his descent as the air passing through the holes of the cloak would send him reeling off toward another tree trunk. 'Here goes something...' He thought to himself as he unhanded the cloak and threw himself toward the tree as best he could. His hands and feet would slide down the rough bark for a short ways until Kihone could calm his heart enough to control his chakra output as well. "Made it!" He exclaimed with relief. Hugging the tree in similar fashion to his brother, he looked down when Izanagi exclaimed his success in finding his chakra and learning the tree climbing technique at the same time. "Wow... NICE JOB NAGI! YOU FIGURED IT OUT RIGHT BEFORE I DID!!" Kihone was beaming with pride in his brother having his moment. Right after, he also, wobbly at first, stood himself up against the surface of the tree he was on. Izanagi started running up the trees he had also just fallen from and Kihone wanted to see how good he could do to keep up with his brother. He'd also start running back up the tree, jumping from one nearby branch to another. After a few, though, Kihone remembered learning that ninja also use chakra to propel themselves further for jumping. Turning it into a bit of a race, Kihone let out a warning for the challenge to be made, "Last one to the top is a doodie-head!" Kihone would tag his brother on the shoulder in passing after launching himself into a longer jump to the next set of higher branches. "You better use that chakra in your feet to jump if you wanna keep up, Na-gi~!! Nyegh!!" Kihone gave his brother a taunting facial expression before continuing to spring up the sides of the trees and using the enhanced jumps to clear distances. Win or lose, Kihone wanted to see that horizon one more time and now as good a time as any. Admittedly, with everything that just happened, Kiho hadn't considered why Reika probably created this forest in such an agonizing manner.

A rush of dismay struck Reika the instant she realized her newly summoned forest had consumed the very pools she’d created and torn through the stone walls she once considered vital. Where tranquil water and protective barriers had stood, there now rose colossal trunks that reached toward the sky, their thick roots reclaiming every inch of the ruins. Her gaze darted around in alarm, only to land on the two boys scrambling to escape the chaos—until they found themselves forced to rely on chakra, sticking to the massive sequoias like fledgling shinobi clinging for dear life.

In a heartbeat, Reika’s grimace of regret melted into a worried, older-sister urgency. She sprinted forward, calling out to them, but the pair had already turned their peril into a friendly competition, charging up the trunk’s rough bark in an impromptu race to the top. Relief washed over her—until her chest clenched with guilt. Her breathing turned ragged, and she dropped to her knees in the damp soil, wrestling with the realization that her anger had nearly put them in harm’s way.

“I’m so sorry, boys!” she called out, her voice ringing through the colossal sequoias that loomed overhead. She could see their figures scrambling upward, quickly vanishing among branches that towered like ancient pillars, and her chest clenched with lingering fear that she’d nearly harmed them. “You were already learning before,” she continued, her tone still sharp with worry. Then her voice dropped to a softer register, as though the words were meant more for her own ears. “You are already a shinobi by what’s reflected in your heart, not your hands...”

Her gaze turned inward for an instant, and she thought of her elder brother, of the day she had pleaded for strength to protect their clan. His voice patient, firm, and kind echoed in her memory, overlapping with the quiet hush of leaves swaying in the forest she had unwillingly thrust upon these two young orphans. A wave of regret mingled with relief, and for a moment, Reika simply stood there, recalling her brother’s words and the promise she’d once made to never allow the ones she cared about to suffer alone.

Having climbed back to the spot he'd burried the katana in the tree trunk, he grinned. From beneath his height on the adjacent Sequoia tree, Kihone called out. Turning his body to face the orientation of his brother, he saw Kiho rushing up the tree with the ambition to challenge him. Losing sight of anything else, Izanagi would sling the blade back to the saya he kept at his hip in order to begin dashing up the tree at full speed. His brother's words that resonated with pride and wonder towards Izanagi would not go unnoticed. Izanagi smiled softly as he began to rush in defiance of Kiho's challenge. "Nu-uh! I'm no doodie head, you fart knocker!" He growled as he scrambled skyward.

Izanagi moved quickly, jumping and leaping around branches as he waltzed toward the tree top as fast as his awkward animalistic run could take him. He had gottent he chakra control down, finally. However, Izanagi's confidence like any child at two hundred feet in the air was not quite to par. He would seem more like an ape the way he moved. His hands channeling the chakra as well as his feet, ensuring multiple contact points. Nagi may not win the race due to his technique, but his physical prowess was slightly better than Kihone's due to his reliance on physical arts already. When they would reach the tree tops, Izanagi would take in the sight next to Kiho. "Woah. " he said blankly. His eyes twinkled with the magnificent sight around him. " Our home is gonna be something special, huh Kiho. If Reika stays around, look what she's bringing. Water...Food...Shelter... " He looked to his hands, sizing himself up to the task. " We'll have to work extra hard to protect that dream for everyone. " No sooner than he'd said those words, would Reika call out to Izanagi and Kihone. Her message resonated with Izanagi as tears welled up briefly as a wide smile cast them aside. 'We're already shinobi, huh?' He thought. He couldn't help but eagerly await what came next, even if it was full of chaos and violence. They'd face it together as Shinobi! Hopefully Reika would show them another new cool trick they would be able to use in the coming battle.

Kihone would laugh out loud, his voice echoing through the forest's lower branches, at Izanagi's retort. Reika's worried-soaked apology echoed up to them and Kihone would just yell back down to her, "WE'RE OKAY AMA-NEESAMA!!" The race was a goofy contest of tree climbing, but it saw both boys back up to the tippy tops pf canopy. Reika's assurance of them already being shinobi only supercharged their exciting little game. "Yeah..." Was all Kiho replied to his brother's similar first reaction to the view from up there. If Reika stays around. That rang in the back of his head for an extra second or two as he admired everything and imagined how amazing the whole Land of Wind could become with someone like Reika to pave the way. He barely gave the contrasting thought half a moment in that hopeful mental space, instead bringing Izanagi closer with a one-armed hug around his shoulder, "Yup yup yup! Ama-neesama is gonna make everything better and we're gonna be right here to help, right Izanagi, the Sword King?" Kihone smiled to his brother kindly as his supportive tone suggested that he was acknowledging how hard they had both fought to survive and learn up to this point. "After she wipes out those bad guys, there will probably be more and they could be scarier than Scar-cheek and his buddies." This briefly caused him to remember his father holding off some scythe-toting maniacs for Yuna and him to escape. If they weren't just kids, they could have helped fight or at least helped more people escape.

Kihone's expression hardened a little as he unhanded Izanagi and turned teal-eyed gaze back out toward Sorai village. "We have to get stronger and smarter, Nagi. It'll be up to us to protect Reika-nee if she ever needs our help." He took a moment to offer his best friend and beloved adoptive brother a fist bump and he added, "How about we go get your hands and feet bandaged again, eat some breakfast, and then we'll get back to training?" Kiho grinned again, this time in a much more lighthearted manner. Afterward, he would descend back through the trees toward where he last saw Reika. Kihone wouldn't press Izanagi into another race, enjoying the views from the dense forest. He had a feeling he'd be getting used to trees, fruit and other wonderful stuff that he'd never known the desert to provide before. As Kihone's eyes wandered through the folliage near the end of his descent, he accidentally misjudged a chakra-infused jump and overshot his landing; instead of landing on a branch not far above where Reika was standing, he instead sent himself plummeting right at emotionally-wrested young woman of miracles. "Aaaaah! Ama-neeee, I messed up! Help!!" His arms flailed as he realized all the cool older brother moments were just lost in another one of his klutzy episodes. Unnerved, he just closed his eyes and hoped for the best on however he landed.

It didn’t take long for the boys’ race to meet its rambunctious end. Their triumphant descent down the massive trunk was marked by breathless laughter, the gleam in their eyes igniting a soft smile on Reika’s face. She reflected, if only briefly, on how far she’d come on all the pain and growth that had led her to this moment, where she could feel such genuine warmth coursing through her. Lifting her arms in readiness, she intended to catch them herself, but the forest responded to her silent wish. Wooden roots snaked upward from the ground by her feet, sprouting a lattice of branches and leaves that softened the boys’ tumble into her waiting embrace. A low thump stole a bit of air from her lungs, but it was far gentler than she had estimated.

Once they were safely on solid ground, Reika exhaled slowly and managed a reassuring grin. “Let’s head to the village now and get you both bandaged up again. You can train more later.” She then pointed to a lone fruit tree on the forest’s edge, one of the few remnants from her earlier creation, and chuckled. “I’m hungry again myself.” There, in the shelter of the newly sprung forest, the three of them stood, a quiet sense of hope threading its way through the remains of a land once lost.

Izanagi’s heart swelled with an almost dizzying blend of excitement and relief as he watched Kihone’s exaggerated scramble through the canopy. Their playful insults and the sheer thrill of the climb reminded him how far they’d come—no longer cowering in fear, but daring to scale two-hundred-foot sequoias as if the desert had always been full of trees. He grinned wide at his brother’s one-armed hug, nodding in spirited agreement. “Yeah, we’ll help Reika keep this place safe.” he murmured, voice hitching just slightly at the thought of more bandits, worse than Scar-Cheek, looming on the horizon. Yet, somehow, that prospect didn’t crush him the way it once might have. They were stronger now, more united, and Reika’s quiet assurance that they were already shinobi stoked a new confidence within him. When Kihone proposed tending to their wounds and grabbing breakfast, Izanagi felt a stab of gratitude. He stole a glance at his bandaged palms—remnants of his relentless training—and couldn’t help wincing. “Breakfast sounds perfect.” he admitted, imagining the smell of fresh fruit drifting on the morning breeze. Before he could reply, however, Kihone’s chakra-infused miscalculation propelled him headlong toward Reika, and Izanagi found himself choking back laughter at his older brother’s sudden crash course in humility.

But there was no disastrous crash, just a gentle shuffle of leaves and the solid cradle of entangled roots. Izanagi landed moments after, half-stumbling into Reika’s outstretched arms. He stared in awe at the living shield she’d conjured. She really can shape the world around her, he thought, momentarily stunned by the casual miracle of it. Catching his breath, he took a step back, shaking off the last flutter of nerves. “You saved us again.” he said, voice softer, laced with admiration. Then, remembering his hunger as well as Kihone’s suggestion, Izanagi gave a sheepish grin. “I guess we really do need to get patched up and eat something, huh?”

Reika’s offer to head into the village felt like the natural next step—one they all shared. Izanagi slung an arm around Kihone’s shoulder, returning the earlier gesture. He glanced at the towering forest around them, leaves rustling in the slight breeze, sunlight threading through the high branches. A pang of longing for home settled in his chest: for Sorai’s dusty roads, its familiar voices, and the warm sense of belonging. “We should hurry,” he said, turning his face toward the desert beyond the oasis. " There’s so much we have to do—so many people we want to protect." He caught Reika’s eye, nodding in silent resolve. Then, with hearts still pounding from their treetop escapades, the three of them set off together.
They walked between newly sprouted trunks, following a winding path through shifting sands and pockets of unexpected greenery. Conversation drifted between lighthearted teasing about Kihone’s less-than-graceful landing and more sober reflections on Sorai’s need for protection. Every so often, Izanagi’s gaze swept over Reika’s purposeful stride and Kihone’s buoyant energy, and a calm sense of reassurance sank in. He was no longer alone, and even if another storm of bandits threatened the desert, they would face it—together. As they emerged from the forest’s edge and the sight of the open dunes came into view, the promise of Sorai Village shimmered in the distance like a fragile beacon. Whatever trials awaited them, Izanagi felt ready to meet them head-on.
