This was someone who worked in the same industry, who saw similar things to himself, who wouldn't and didn't look at him as odd or some sort of freak. He'd had an old man at the grocery store call him that, and he'd certainly heard elderly asian couples at the local H Mart saying things about him. He didn't understand them all, as he only knew Japanese, but he got the general idea from the others he didn't understand, he stood out and he knew it. He expected it. At least with Kai he didn't get that attention. The other didn't expect him to be loud, or drink and party, the other didn't have expecations and was even saying as much.
Not only that but slow...slow was what he'd need in order to sort himself out, because this was not something he'd ever planned on. He didn't want to get close to people and here he was accepting the idea of being close to someone, of accepting the idea of getting closer to someone. He'd wind up feeling more in emotions than he normally did, more than he wanted to. Slow would be a good way to take on those things.
At least with Kai, with someone who seemed to understand him, it would be easier to explore something he'd never considered and had ignored.
"Slow is good, I'll need that if nothing else." Standing there staring up at the taller he was calm and cool, serious, because why would he not be? This wasn't something for him to take lightly and it seemed a big deal to the other as well. "We can do this...dating." Nodding his head as he spoke, more for himself than the other, Kioshi managed a small smile. "We can try going out and see how this goes." And damn it felt weird saying those words, to leave himself open to a connection to someone, it was odd. This would take more from him than the connections he had to his boss and co-workers. He'd have to make an effort to talk to Kai, which he did anyway to an extent, and to putting into the relationship and trying and expanding it. Similar to a job but not the same. But he couldn't just drop contact or forget to talk to him or anything like that.
"Let's see how this works." Again he said the words as they sunk in for him. This would be a lot but it miight be good?

"Yeah. I can be slow. I'll need it. A lot of people I knew before really wanted to rush things. Put me in a bad spot. Haven't dated since after that." He admitted, looking up as the terminal called out for the subway that would be approaching soon.
"Then we'll see how this goes then. I'll, uh, contact you later for - for going out. Okay?" He said, already having Kioshi's number and address now.
"This was nice. You're nice."

He had a feeling he'd wind up in a similar spot, being pushed into things, if he dated people who assumed things about him based on his looks. It was nice to know someone understood that, though the how wasn't good, but wouldn't push or rush things. It would give him time to adjust and decide if this was good for him - for them.
As the terminal sounded he stepped away from the other slowly, turning to where the subway was arriving. "Yeah, I'll reach out as well. Perhaps also a night out with our other job?" Since that was a big part of his life, it had changed his whole life, so that would without a doubt be involved somehow with them both. They both did keep the same night job.
"Get home safely." And as the usbway doors opened he was pushing past and around some people to get onboard.
