Rex wasn't moving. Ramona slapped the apron.
"2..."
Rex was still dazed. Ramona looked to the back.
Before the ref could try to hit three, there was a loud hiss from the speakers as the lights in the arena went out for several seconds. Unable to see, the ref stopped the count for the time being. When the lights came back on, they were completely red, bathing the arena in the eerie glow. Standing around the ring were the thirteen known cloaked figures. Rex's cult surrounding the ring to protect their leader. The ref forgot about the count as he noticed them and wandered to the ropes to tell them to leave.

Salem felt like Rex was down for the count, but before he could find out for sure, the lights cut off for a moment! Coming back on with an ominous red glow, Salem stood up and took note of what the referee had already seen - devotees of Rex's cult approaching the ring! Standing next to the referee, Salem shouted indignantly at them along with the crowd! "Oh, now what the Hell?! This is ridiculous! Where's security at a time like this?!"
"Yeah, security! The King needs protected!"

The cult surrounding the ring started to chant Rex's name. As they did, Rex started to stir. The more they chanted, the faster he recovered. He stood as Ramona slid into the ring beside Rex. The pair stood side by side and eyed the other two in the ring with them. The chanting stopped and the cult appeared to start backing away from the ring. Rex and Ramona would wait for the ref and Salem to start turning around before charging at them and attempting to send them over the top rope with a pair of vicious clotheslines.

The lights returned to normal and the cult appeared to be backing away, but the official and Salem were unaware that Ramona and Rex were sizing them up! Sent over the ropes, the pair tumbled hard to the floor - referee out cold as Salem once again struggled to get back to his feet!

Rex stayed at the ropes and looked at his minions. He leaned forward and then stared down at Salem with a vicious sneer. Looking back up to the cult he didn't say a word, just gave a nod and backed up to the center of the ring as his cult surrounded Salem and attempted to deliver a storm of stomps and kicks upon him while he was down.

The crowd was livid with animosity as the cult barraged the Blackfoot Beast with boots, stomping him senseless with a flurry of kicks! Surrounded and overwhelmed, "Showtime" was helpless to fight back, struggling to even defend himself! "Aww, c'mon! This is a load of bull, the man can't even protect himself! How tough are you to need so many people jumping one man?!"
"Well, there's more of them than there are of us, J.R.! I suggest you keep quiet for both our sakes!"

Rex looked to Ramona who moved to the ropes and slid out of the ring from under them. The kicking would stop and a pair of the cultists would attempt to stand Salem up and hold him. If they were successful, Ramona would charge forward and attempt to take Salem out with her signature spear.

Salem coughed and writhed as they lifted him up, barely feeling his legs through all the pain! Fans chanted obscenities at Rex and his minions while his sister sized Salem up for a Spear, tackling him to the ground once more and knocking the breath from him!

JR: The Strike! The Strike! She just speared him half with the Serpent's Strike.
King: I know. It's horrible. They're just doing Kobra's dirty work.
The cult looked to their leader who gave another nod. They would attempt to pull Salem from the mat and roll him into the ring for Rex. A pair of them would follow if successful and attempt to stand him up and hold him as well while Rex sat coiled in the corner, ready to strike.

It appeared as though Salem's match had become a gang-style beating, the aspiring legend lifted back into the ring and served up for Rex to destroy! But before the Kobra could strike, a figure came out onto the stage, clad in a familiar classic red flannel! The General Manager, Mick Foley, was moving as briskly as he could down the ramp, brandishing his trademark barbed wire bat from his Cactus Jack days!
Threatening the cult members at ringside, Mick cleared a path towards the corner Rex occupied and yelled at him from the floor, pointing the bat at Kobra! Threatening him with suspensions and violence, he demanded Rex remove his cultist cronies and release Salem immediately! "FINALLY! Some authority out here! Mick will make this right, for sure!"
"You think the boss approves of this, J.R.?! He hates Croft more than Kobra does!"

Rex stood as Foley came out and eyed him. The cult kept their distance but kept looking to their leader for confirmation of what to do. The two in the ring let go of Salem as Rex stood in the corner looking down at Foley.
"Threatened by my power, Foley? Look at the gift The Serpent gives me. I can bring your whole world down with my family's venom. You should fear me, Foley. Acquiesce to my every demand and I won't make you look like a fool."

The goons holding Salem had acquiesced to Foley's demands, releasing "Showtime" and rejoining their brethren on the outside of the ring near the ramp! Crouched and breathing heavily, Salem's whole body ached, but he saw an opportunity to perhaps put Rex away for good this time! With a burst of effort and grit, Salem would muster what strength he hand and sprint towards the corner with Rex preoccupied, looking to hammer him in the skull with a second 'Showstopper'!

The kick connected and Rex dropped to the mat flat on his face appearing to be once again knocked out cold form Salem's signature maneuver.

Salem watched Rex fall forward onto the canvas following the flashy bicycle kick, the fans once again riled up for victory! Taking his chance, perhaps his best chance the entire match, "Showtime" would waste no time dropping to cover, expecting Foley to do a count from outside the nearby corner!
"Salem hit the Showstopper a second time, maybe his last time! Could this be enough?!"
"Salem better hope so, J.R.! He's been through a lot already, he might not get another chance!"

Foley got into position as Rex was covered.
"1..."
Rex didn't budge.
"2..."
Before Foley could could count to three, Rex's foot lifted off the mat and sat on the bottom rope. It wasn't big or flashy but Foley still stopped the count and told Salem that Rex's foot was on the ropes.
JR: Salem has it! No! He got his foot on the rope. Kobra it's still in this
King: Kobra is a crafty one, you have to give him that Look at that ring awareness.
