Pure panic crossed Xylia’s features as she watched Cahira getting stabbed. “Cahira!” She yelled, but the three bandits attacking her kept her from grabbing at her friend. Dammit! She would never forgive herself if something happened to Cahira. Thankfully though the window shattered and Xylia didn’t even question it as they pushed their way back outside. Now that they were in the open, the vigilante nodded for the other three to get back. This was when the fun started. As the smugglers tried to rush back at them the fight was completely different, now that Xylia was out in the open she could use her blade dance without worry. Flower petals floated in the wind as she slashed through a group of them, the pile of bodies growing.

“I’m fine.” Promised Cahira, her hands shaking as she made her way out of the building. Her hand tightened around her sword, the hybrid holding onto it just in case it was needed more. Though it looked like Xylia had things covered and so Cahira focused on rearranging her sash to tighten it against her fresh wound. They would have to stitch that one up later…that was for certain.

“I’m just glad you’re okay.” Ezili’s body was shaking from both using magic and the pure adrenaline it had taken to do so. She hovered around Cahira, making certain that she was protected as they worked on taking care of the wound. “Xylia is amazing.” She breathed as she watched the hybrid spinning about with her blades and making quick work of the smugglers.

Now that they were safely outside, Quiana pulled out her bow to help out the other hybrid as she helped to take care of any stray smugglers. Each shot was precise and she continued to get them in their legs and arms to stop any additional attacks until the whole group was scattered, those who had been taken out passed out in a pile with a couple slinking off into the shadows while the girls were distracted. “How is your wound?” Quiana moved towards the other hybrid who had been injured. “Such a bad way to make introductions, but I did want to let you know my name. It’s Quiana.” She managed as she opened her bag and dug around for the medical supplies that Chantara had provided. “Here, this moss will soak up the blood and then I can stitch the wound.” It was basic training for an Aishan to know how to deal with some injuries, the risks of the hunt were far too great to be unprepared for wounds such as these.

“You can go tell your leader where they can shove things.” Breathed Xylia to the last smugger before cutting him right in the ankles. What if she cared if he couldn’t walk for weeks? Let him rot in a cell for hurting Cahira. Her fury knew no limits, not when her friend was involved. That pure soul did not deserve to be harmed by such low-lifes! “Ezili, how is she?” Xylia glanced over towards the teen, worry clearly written on her face. “I can tie these guys up, but Cahira is the priority.”

“I’m fine.” Cahira replied, wincing as Quiana placed the moss against her wound. It surprisingly felt cool against her flushed skin and it was soaking up the blood fairly well. “Just a scratch.” She managed lightly, giving the others a small smile. “Take care of those guys, it’s best if we tie them up and then find Sybil.”

Ezili nodded, her gaze lingering on Cahira until she felt confident that Quiana was doing her best to help. “I’m Ezili, that’s Xylia and you’re helping Cahira.” She quickly gushed before going over towards Xylia to help her, reaching for some rope and working to quickly tie up the smugglers. Thankfully she was good with ropes which was a perk of living with a group of rangers.

“I see.” Quiana nodded, smiling with appreciation towards the teen as she started to inspect the wound. Thankfully the blade which was used to cut Cahira was smooth edged, so the wound wasn’t jagged and would be fairly easy to sew. It was just a matter of Cahira’s pain tolerance. “I hope you can tolerate some pain. Do you need something to numb it?”

Xylia nodded as Ezili joined her and the hybrid quickly handed over some rope. “You’ve got some nimble fingers and made good knots.” She acknowledged walking along with Ezili and continuing to tie up the smugglers until it looked like a crowd was about to approach them. “I may need to slip away for a moment, but I’ll be lingering nearby.” She advised in a soft whisper as the guard approached.

Cahira winced as she watched Quiana inspect her wound. “I can tolerate pain, I may need some good drinks after considering today but you know.” She tried to smile, the movement making her grimace even as Quiana helped to steady her so that they could find a decent place to sit outside of the building. At this point there was the beginning of a crowd and she was hoping that the guard would come quickly to wrap up things with these smugglers. Of course that would mean Xylia could potentially disappear for a moment, the hybrid still awkward with authorities despite doing her best to help capture bad guys like these.

“No worries. Thank you for helping us out of that.” Ezili expressed, her hand reaching out to touch Xylia’s arm. “It’s not your fault either, no one knew that they would do that.” Even if Xylia seemed to have a connection with the smugglers, Ezili had the feeling it was only because she had stopped them from doing something foul just like how her father worked with the rangers. They did things to protect the world, even if it did put them at risk like this. She was just glad that the experience had well…not ended in a worse manner despite Cahira being injured.

“Smugglers?” A guard approached and nearly stumbled at the sight of Quiana. “What happened here?”
The Elidae smiled warmly, trying her best to not look threatening as she worked on Cahira’s side, a needle going smoothly through the skin to stitch up the wound with a thread made of natural fibers that also had herbal ointment soaked into it to encourage quick healing. “Those nasty smugglers came into the room, I’m assuming they wanted to rob those participating in the races but we caught them by surprise.”
“I…I see.” The guard shook his head, not wanting to really think too hard about it before going around to help others gather up the masked men. It was fortunate that the smugglers looked the part, giving Quiana plenty of room to breathe and focus on Cahira.

At least the guard seemed eager to wrap up this mess and leave. Xylia let out a sigh of relief as she slipped back into the group, crouching next to Quiana as she worked on the wound. “They really just came and left, didn’t they?” She shook her head, glad that the smugglers were being carted away but also frustrated with how the guards seemed content leaving their group alone without even offering medical aid. This was why she much preferred doing things her own way.

“It’s fine.” Cahira managed, trying her best to sit still as Quiana sewed the wound. The swordswoman ended up reaching out to hold onto Xylia’s hand for support, giving her friend’s fingers a squeeze as the needle pierced her flesh and the Elidae quickly worked on patching her up. Ouch. That would probably leave a scar, right?

“Well that happened.” Ezili commented as she settled on the ground next to the others, her gaze floating across the area as if waiting for another attack. Please no. She closed her eyes for a moment, trying to calm her still racing heart and reflecting upon everything that happened. “Auntie, I think I inherited mom’s spark.” She commented quietly, trying to focus on something else for a moment.
