So, my mother loves to text me whenever its someone's birthday.
It could be anyone's! My old friend from high school 10+ years ago, some random cousin who I speak to once a year during winter gatherings, etc.
I think she enjoys keeping up with people's birthdays and telling me, it's almost like a passive hobby for her. I respect that! But I what I haven't told her is...I almost never text or call said person to wish them a happy birthday if we haven't communicated in years! It just feels like it would be rather forced, and it's not a great ice-breaker for making small talk imo.
Idk, I wanted to see some other thoughts on that. Do you like getting happy birthdays from a lot of people or would you rather just hear from close friends and family?

But now that I am a little older and much more of a recluse, I like my birthday wishes to come from my family and close friends. Although every now and then I get a random happy birthday text message from an old classmate or coworker. And those are nice as well. Makes me chuckle to myself a little at the very idea of someone thinking about me.
