Ken heard one of the girls calling after him telling him to stop or he'd make his injuries worse. That was probably true but it was also most likely a trap and he had no intention of stopping. Gasping for air now, he pressed onward, tearing through bushes and frantically throwing aside hanging branches and vines. Then something appeared right in front of him with which he collided and fell back into a sitting position. He looked at what he had run into and saw—Tapu Bulu? It really was Tapu Bulu, then?! He recognized the Island Guardian because he had studied this place before arriving... but he had never considered that setting the jungle on fire might aggravate it. He had really done it, now! He scooted away from it and then got to his feet to continue running, but something had grabbed him from behind and he was aware now that the Salamence had also caught up and had secured his shirt in its teeth. Ken squirmed and fought like a scruffed feral Meowth and tried to slip out of his shirt, but he was being held too tightly and could not accomplish this. He struggled for several seconds until his energy deserted him and he went limp, panting heavily. He noted that his arms were cut up and bleeding, and there was blood on his shirt and pants so he had likely been cut up all over from the explosion and his wild flight through the jungle. He was also very cold although had managed to not be frostbitten, and his Ursaring ears were askew; it was probably a miracle he had not lost them. This was to say that he was not in great shape right now and it looked like it was about to get worse, as now the girls had all caught up to him and they were not happy, either. One of them had stopped to kneel to the Guardian. Ken was simply trying not to hyperventilate. He hid his face in his hands so that he did not have to see everyone else and because he did not want them to see that he was likely about to start crying. “I'm s-s-sorry! Pl-please don't h-h-hurt me!” he begged fearfully although knowing it was likely too late for that. He trembled like a leaf in the wind from both fear and cold.

The little Ducklett looked up at the two Pokemon. She was still scared at what was going on and not really feeling talkative. She took a deep breath and let out a Scald. She did not know if the attack hit or not but she was still able to Jump off and try to make a run for it. This resulted in her running into a tree and knocking herself out. She fell backward and had a dream about Wooloo.

The moment Glaceon's Pokeball was released, Hailie jumped up and ran to snatch it up. She let Glaceon out from within. Glaceon looked around in a startled fashion, but Hailie then dropped to her knees beside her and scooped her into an embrace. “Glaceon, I'm so happy to see you! I'm sorry for letting this happen!”
“It's not your fault! That guy tricked us!” Glaceon said, which came out as “Glaceon Glace” as she nuzzled into her trainer's arms.
Hailie watched as they let the thief go. She thought they had been too easy on him. He'd probably just go do it again to someone else. But oh well, she got her Glaceon back and this was done with for now. “Thank you! Thank you both so much for helping me get Glaceon back!” she told the two girls. Then she remembered the strange Ducklett and looked to the Pokemon as it let off a Scald attack before attempting to flee, only to knock itself out on a tree. “Oh! Are you OK?” Hailie and Glaceon got up and ran over to the unconscious Ducklett.

After having fled from what had nearly been his death, Ken had made his way back into the town and to the Pokemon Center. There he had his Zubat and Rattata healed up. He had been convinced to have his own injuries tended to; they were just minor cuts and bruises, but he didn't want to risk any kind of infection.

After that, he had received a message that there was a meeting being called, and he was given the current location of the Secret Base. It was an airship that moved around regularly, and it happened to be right here on Ula'ula Island, so Ken did not have to travel far. Of course, he practiced the utmost of caution: He did not go straight there, but took a circuitous route through the jungle that included much circling and backtracking. He had let Zubat out to scout the skies and make sure there was nobody tailing him.

Then he found the entrance behind some bushes, although the rest of the airship was pretty well cloaked. He could make it out by being this close to it, but from a distance it would have been invisible. He cautiously entered the base. He wandered around looking for anyone, or any indication of where he was supposed to go. Maybe the others had not arrived yet.

The submarine ride came to an end, and the hatch was opened. Mirzam leapt out of it posthaste and landed gratefully on the sand of the beach. He looked back at the ocean with disgust and then took a few steps further onto the island. He noticed the smoldering foliage and trees about at the point that the Team Rocket lady mentioned it. His six tails wagged slowly in anticipation and he began to sniff around, looking for whoever was responsible for what appeared to have been a large fire. One ear shifted toward Team Rocket Lady's footsteps as they got further away. He looked to her. Then he took a few steps after her. He hesitated. Then he decided that she was, indeed, the most interesting thing around right now, and so he followed after her.

After a time, they came to... it was something big and invisible. Mirzam was startled when Team Rocket Lady went inside and vanished! He approached the doorway but thought better of going into what might be a trap or an ambush. Instead he circled around the outside, sniffing around and trying to figure out what this Thing was that he couldn't see. But he could smell it, and he could hear that it blocked the flow of air, and he could sense its presence! As he did this, he would sometimes see more people entering The Thing, but none of them had looked like anyone to bother himself with.
