Fingers are not worth this.
The doubts Soleiyu had carried with him up until now were fading quickly. He nodded absentmindedly at Tomlin's words as he moved towards the dirt mounds, trying to calculate what any of this meant.
There was more talk of fingers, and Soleiyu was now determined it couldn't be a coincidence. "It's nice to meet you," he said, out of courtesy. It would have been nicer to meet when he wasn't digging through heaps of dirt, but that was what he'd been reduced to, here. "I'm Soleiyu."
Digging wasn't yielding much, and he felt rather silly--but there was a commotion a bit away from him and he stiffened, watching as something morphed into what looked like an angry, battered robot.
...An angry, battered robot that looked like it was about to attack.
Somehow, it was rather satisfying to find another man like himself to be the one to find something. Perhaps it was a sense of pride, that even the older ones like himself could be of use. And that they could atleast be the ones in danger, to protect the youth.
The moment that strange other-worldly thing came to life, Brioche changed.
Like a wire snapping, that concern and worry he had about 'fitting in' melted away, instead replaced with a primal need to protect those around him.
Even if he could only do something like pick up an old, rusted barrel, and hurl it towards the rampaging capsule, it was enough.
He could be enough. He would be enough to fight back against it!
Etoile wasn't sure how much progress they were making, digging around blindly like this, but then again, Etoile tended to be fairly useless, in general, so it wasn't anything unusual. If anything, at least she felt she was helping. Kind of. Maybe.
Well, she was trying to help, anyway, but then someone activated some kind of robot or something, and suddenly, she was scrambling to dodge a metal claw coming her way.
He had barely had enough time to get away from the... thing. He wasn't sure if he could call it a "robot" at this point, before it started to attack everyone, and all he could do was scramble out of the way to get an idea of the situation, only managing to fling some dirt on it as he got up and ran a few steps away to see what was going on.
He also cursed at how he was in human form. He had no kitty beams and in this form, couldn't even fight. He had just barely learned how to run properly! How as he supposed to fight this thing?!
What they unearthed was far from what Arthur was expecting and he huddled about the capsule with the multitude of Mauvian eyes, as curious as their other form. At first it looked like maybe a unearthed time capsule that the area must have disrupted, but the buzzing sensation that tickled inside him said this wasn't man-made. That alone grabbed Arthur deep in the chest. The part that struggled between not getting his hopes up too high and accepting that the Mauvians, and himself, would never really get the opportunity to know more about their kind in comparison to everyone else. And then there was the part that hoped and dreamed for knowledge and a sense of completeness to find out more of their culture. Whatever this is, it was theirs, and that alone made his heart ache.
But the buzzing became louder and then it moved, Arthur's heart leaping that it still worked. It had energy, power, which means it was still usable for whatever function it had. But legs grew and the tone shifted. Something was wrong and quickly it swung at them.
Security.
"Be careful!"He called out to those closest in range. The Mauvians moved but it seemed universally decided it had to be stopped. As much as it painted him to break or damage whatever it was, it couldn't hurt them or run rampant on the streets where the local police force would take it for good.
So he went and picked a large rock.

Miss Kitty was glad for Arthur's continued company, and gave the other cat a warm smile only one older than a kitten might offer -- closer, it seemed, to one used to raising kittens, before the caopsule was found, and the woman started, and turned, immediately doing... Something terribly embarrassing by hissing[ at the capsule indighnantly.
"A robot?!" Miss Kitty asighed, and finally seemed to move as if uncurling, shoulders bare as she regarded the machine with no small amount of indignance. "Why, it;'s a rude little thing. A pity,,, I wish I'd brought someone whom knows these a touch better." Her Ally would know whjat to do. Miss Kitty just wanted to stomp it under a boot, but it was sparking, and she made a disgruntled face at it, hisdsing again."?
Honestly. Are you alright over there, Arthur?" She looked over in concern, brows arched. She didn't like this whole affair. At all.
Illyria had been in the process of scanning the construction site for any digging implements when it seemed like another individual had finally located the source of the pulses of energy. Well that was a good thing then, maybe now things would go back to normal. Of course normal didn't mean a flash of bright light that nearly blinded the woman. Shaking her head back and forth and rubbing at her eyes seemed to finally clear the spots from her field of vision and not a moment too soon. The thing: capsule or whatever it now was had sprouted limbs and Illyria backed away slowly. What was going on now? Wide purple eyes took in the scene of the metallic capsule that was slowly advancing on the group and just for one second Illyria watched the device before realizing that standing and watching was not a good combination right now. Turning to Fantasia Illyria hoped she wasn't committing a faux pas before she grabbed the other woman's arm. "Maybe we could still find shovels but now in an effort to defend ourselves?"
Illyria wasn't even sure if shovels were just left around at a construction site but besides that what else could be used as a weapon? Stumbling briefly Illyria glanced at the ground before picking up a rock and bouncing it up and down in her hand for a moment; testing the weight. With no finesse the youngster throw the rock towards the creature and just hoped that her aim were true.
Tomlin could only gape at the polite greetings. Okay, Soleiyu didn’t ring a bell, but Liryn? His copper eyes narrowing as he stared after the shorter figure. The teal colour was about right, now he thought about it. But he’d met Liryn many times, in both his forms. It was ridiculous that he didn’t recognise him!
Catching up, Tomlin folded his long form into a quick bow. “Tomlin,” he said.
To Soleiyu, he added “Pleased to meet you.”
Then, to Liryn, in a somewhat more teasing tone “And you too.” As if they’d never met before.
It was good to be among friends.
And then their impromptu archaeological dig erupted with what he could only consider a spider-bot. It had the hallmarks of Mauvian tech, but it was sparking like a firework. Pretty good sign they were on the right track for the signal source.
“Think there’s an off-switch?” he asked, before rushing in to add his weight to the offensive. The legs looked spindly, so he aimed a kick at the nearest. He didn’t immediately lose his balance, so that was a win for his ‘human’ body whether he connected or not. It felt pretty good actually. Time to see what these claw-less limbs could do!
"It's nice to meet you too Soleiyu" Liryn said cheerfully, half turning to the ginger-haired male catching up to them as he added "And you as well..."
And then he blinked as the name that the other had given him finally registered - because actually he recognised that name - for all that it had been a while–
And now that he was actually looking the coppery eyes were reminiscent of Tomlin's cat form - even if the form that his friend was currently standing in wasn't one that he recognised.
"It's like a glamour" he murmured half to himself, lips quriking in a smile as he continued "It's been a while but it's..."
His voice trailed off as what appeared to be some sort of alarm suddenly went off, his purplish eyes narrowing as some sort of robot chose that moment to make an appearance.
"I'm not sure" he admitted as Tomlin queried whether the thing had an off-switch "But it also doesn't look like it's particularly in good condition" he gestured towards some of the trailing wires.
He tried a swing at it, a part of him wishing (even as he did so) that his current hands came with claws.
Pyper was tired of digging through the dirt. Thankfully someone nearby had found what they were looking for. It was a capsule; a piece of mauvian tech. But the capsule seemed to immediately go into defense mode. It viewed the surrounding group as a threat. “This isn’t good!” She slowly backed up, away from the machine. But it would appear they were going to have to fight it! Maybe someone could get close enough to shut it down somehow? She watched it move around, trying to see if there was any sort of pattern to it. If she had to, she would use her fists and give it a punch or maybe a swift kick to it’s metal body.
"A robot!" Chip enthused excitedly once he saw the thing.
That it was intent on murder only slightly dampened his enthusiasm for it. Why, he'd never thought of making a robot before...Sure, he watched enough movies to have seen the idea, but this right here...Mauvian stuff. Old Mauvian stuff. What a delightful idea!
Now, the first order of business would be to smash this thing into submission so it could be picked apart properly.
Ow, oww, owww.... Cora felt her ankle every time she took a step and the reminder was quite painful actually. But still, this painful feeling wasn't overcoming her determitation to find the source of this calling she felt. Maybe she should have left the task to more cabable though...
When Richard found the capsule, for a moment Cora's troubles were washed away. "You found it!" she exclaimed gleefully. The excitement turned into panic soon though as the capsule turned into a dangerous, ubstable robot that looked like it was going to kill them all. "Watch out!" she shouted to no one in particular.
She had to find a weapon, or something to cover behind. Hmm, maybe this metal plate could do...?
