Round 4 ResponseWolf Name: Mourning Dove Rolled Speed: 35 + 5 Role Played Response: Dove may have been fast, but it was clear that speed wasn't the only thing needed in this competition. She felt her confidence waver as she failed to immediately catch the hare, but she plunged on ahead. Maybe she wouldn't win, but she could prove to her pack mates that she was still valuable!

Round 4 ResponseWolf Name: Maple Rolled Speed: 36 + 7
Role Played Response: She didn't catch the hare, no, but a part of Maple didn't want[//i] to. There it was, the rebellious side. She waso much fun! Something she had thought would be ridiculous ended up thrilling, and as her heart hammered she found herself vehemently wishing for it to continue. Just a bit longer -- just a little.

Round 4 ResponseWolf Name: Hawkflight Rolled Speed: 41+7
Role Played Response: Hawkflight shook with adrenaline. The hare was in sight and she was closing in fast. She could hear the other wolves attempting the same. Her heart pounded and she lept, securing her mouth around the back of the hare's neck. Hawkflight raised her head triumphantly, holding her trophy high.

Round 4 ResponseWolf Name: Magpie Rolled Speed: 40 (+4=44, womp womp)
Role Played Response: Maggie was off - she could barely register the noise of the other wolves closing in around her. She was focused. Having caught sight of the hare's red tail, a fire burned brighter inside her, encouraging her to move forward, and quickly. Nothing else mattered now but the hare.
And then, just ahead, she saw several flashes of fur, belonging to multiple of her pack mates. They had made it to the hare before her, she hadn't been fast enough after all. Magpie felt herself slow involuntarily, a sadness settling into her heart. That only lasted for a moment before the thrill of the hunt took back over, filling her with nothing but pride for the place she called home.

Round 4 ResponseWolf Name: Hazel Rolled Speed: 43 + 5 = 48!
Role Played Response: THERE!
Hazel's instincts went wild, and she let out a happy yip as she surged forward from her stealthy spot. (So much for that, right?) She barely noticed anyone else except Hawkflight for a long moment, whom she managed to keep neck and neck with after just barely passing Forest Shadow. The hare was right there, ahhhhhhhh!

Round 4 is now closed!
The results are in... and we have a tie! Hawkflight was the first wolf to reach the hare but seconds after she gripped her prey, Hazel came from behind and barreled into her pack mate. Admist the grappling for the fuzzy mammal, the hare was knocked free and on the run once more. As the point of the event is to capture the hare, and keep it captured as to present it to the alpha... we must figure out who was able to recover the slippery hare! This will be done by rolling a single 10-sided die, representing the hare. Each remaining competitor, that is Hawkflight and Hazel, must each roll to become as close to the hare's number as possible. Because the dice gods are having fun today, keep in mind if there is another tie, we will repeat the process until one wolf finally manages to grab and secure the hare consistently. Special note: once a wolf has the hare in its grip, its pack mates may not attempt to steal the hare. Doing so would put the creature in risk of pain or injury. That being said. Don't kill the hare. If you do, you will be disqualified and no winner declared. On your marks... get set... roll!Round 5 Response

Thrush was joined with the pack, anxiously waiting for the winner to present themselves. Just more than half a day had passed, the wolves who had chosen not to participate passing the time with stories and news. In the midst of a conversation with Willow Bark and Dusk Owl regarding a future pack meeting, one of the young males broke into the clearing with a broad grin. It was said the hare had been captured and they were on their way back. The group’s volume increased considerably, in both excitement and relief. While the event was a source of fun and camaraderie, many of the wolves had tasks they needed to attend to. As the pack formed a half circle to welcome their pack mates, Thrush placed himself forward and center. He didn’t have long to wait... as the eight (or was it seven?) wolves entered the clearing, it was evident, by the kicking hare, who had been victorious. First with a broad grin on his maw, he threw back his head and belted a celebratory howl. Congratulations to... Hawkflight...as the declared winner of the First Annual Hare Hunt! Dani was kind enough to color our hare for this year. You are may post it (with your gender of choice) for certing in her thread. You are not obligated to bond the hare with your wolf, in which case it will be assumed that you released it to the wild. However, if you were to keep it in Swiftfell, it would be a protected familiar and under no threat from the pack.

Making sure she had a good grip on the squirming hare, Hawkflight made her way back to her Alpha and the eagerly waiting packmates. She felt good. Scratch that, she felt amazing! Not one to brag, the she-wolf let the hare go before Thrush and just smiled, a rare thing for this serious protector.
