... Right.
Not everyone saw Wolframite like 'Mali did.
He didn't believe it one bit, but let it drop. If Wolframite wanted to say that he'd not let things go too far, there was no real reason to doubt it. And besides, it was none of 'Mali's buisness who he went around and ********. Right away when they had met, he was told that if someone wanted to sleep with him, he'd let them. He was just a 'tool' for the Negaverse to use and all that.
Zubeneschamali's feelings didn't matter there.
The whole situation made him itch, and he scratched absently at the back of his head as the game let out the tell-tale sound of him falling off another edge and dying.
"Believe me, I have been cautious with him. My security guards have done their jobs properly. I have my worries, but none of them pertain to him as a person. I only have one goal in mind right now, and that's to keep him away from the Negaverse. With that kind heart of his and that damn nonchalant attitude, he'd be punished constantly for insubordination, I'm sure.."
Ugh... Even her name began to get on his nerves. Marissa.
"Perhaps." No. A grand solid no. "If Lori would like to meet her, of course. It's just as much Lori's home as it is my own."

He laughed at this. "That's true. We'd eat a buttercup like him alive." He leaned back against the bed, helping to pass the cube through the portal to Mali.
"But you're smart to check. If you ever need help keeping him out of the Negaverse, just tell me. We don't need him here." Gryph could spend time with Landry in that works, but Landry would always be lying to him when he came here and was an officer. And the more Landry grew in rank, the stronger the Negaverse's hold would be. Eventually he'd have a hard time juggling that. The man already had classes and work and volunteering. What time did Landry even have?
A calm relief came.over him, feeling pleased with these thoughts. Mali would have broken their friendship off ages ago of Gryph really was all that important, and yet he came here with a special gift just for them, and no matter what Gryph was now, Landry still felt something for him.

"Yes... That sweet buttercup wouldn't make it out... Though I am guilty of letting him know a little more than was possibly needed." Another goal passed and soon they were flying through the air through... Magnetic shields? The mechanics of the games were weird.
"I have decided, that with more power, comes more responsibility with the Negaverse, yes, but also with that comes more freedom. Less people to answer to, less people who can call me at their whims and try to make me follow their commands. So I will get stronger and keep growing. If I do get stronger, I'll be able to protect him better." The best place for Gryphon was probably a cabin in the woods. Far from the city, near a beautiful lake where he could fish and camp out under the stars to his heart's content.
.... But Gryphon loved people far too much to be kept that isolated... A shame, really. And Landry wasn't insane, he wouldn't just force him there.
... It was all a shame.
"I can't exactly say I could protect you. You're already stronger than me, and we all know Lieutenants are stronger than your average senshi. But I won't be a hindrance, for now."

"What did you tell him?" He asked, keeping his tongue in the same light vein as before, bit inwardly thinking back to Nat. The man had met Mali and Mali had told the civilian some things about the Negaverse. Then again, Nat was a stranger to him and Mali had been in uniform which protected his civilian identity. Would Mali tell Gryph something? Surely not if he wanted to keep him away from the Negaverse.
"You weren't a hinderance, Mali, but I glad you want to get stronger and raise up in rank. Of there is anything I can do to help, just tell me." Maybe taking to Cavansite wasn't needed if Mali wanted to become a stronger officers. Even if it was for some guy back above, he at least seemed to be changing his mind to stick with the Negaverse and change his tone about it a bit.
"When you become a Eternal, you'll really be able to protect." He considered a moment. "Maybe even try and become a Prince."

"Just about the powered world. He doesn't know me as 'Mali. And he doesn't know about Wolf either. I wanted him to be aware of this world, enough so that maybe he'll try to be safer. After all, like you said, drug dealers are excellent targets." Maybe he could convince him to get a safer job one day.
"I have no desire at all to become a prince or anything of that kind. You'd have to give your all to the Negaverse and it's mission, and I could only care less if I had nothing to protect. I'll do my job, but not worship the ground she walks on. ... No offense to you, with you wanted to be the right hand and all."

"Yeah. Yeah. You don't like the Queen. Was worth a shot though. Royals are damn powerful. And it would be nice to see you at the peak of power for a senshi. No one, not even generals, could say s**t to you then. You'd outrank even them." He tried to make it sound tempting, but that wasn't the type of bait Mali even had interest to bite.
There really wasn't anything Wolframite could offer Mali to get him to stay. Not even his own flesh and blood could manage that. He doubted even death could.
Then again, not his death could.
Gryph could be useful later on if Mali did get very serious about him. Already the senshi was changing his tune, something Wolframite never accomplished, for this man.
You fall too easily.
"You don't mind of I'd leave you stiff at your place? Maybe a quick teleport in and out before I'm detected. Unless that makes you uncomfortable. Since you gave me things during my boot camp, I'd like to do something nice back. You could share them with Gryph if you want."

”Perhaps if I could be the King myself, I would consider it. But then I still have to listen to that flying spaghetti nonsense so... No thank you.” There was no convincing Mali as he was now, and Wolframite was atleast lucky Mali was atleast a little better than he was before.
“Don’t get me wrong, It’s only for strength, not for any dedication to a ‘mission’ or anything along those lines. I’m still the rebellious ‘Mali you’ve come to know.” At this point, he put the controller down too, taking his glasses off to give them a quick clean. Why was it that every time they seemed to get together, it was a roller coaster of emotions?
It left him exhausted at the end of the day.
“Of course you can, though I’m not likely to share them with anyone, except perhaps Lori. It’s not as if you know him well. A gift from you would be one I kept selfishly to myself.”

"Oh, I didn't say they were a gift for him. I mean I wouldn't be pissed if you were eating them and he ate one of you happened to want to give him one while you two were hanging out. Of course Lori is always welcome."
He just wanted Mali to know that he gave permission. Trying to change his previous meltdown to one of acceptance.
"Anyways, is there anything you crave when you had a hard, exhausting day?"

"And I'm saying that I wouldn't want to share something you've gotten for me to eat. Food has this sort of... Emotional connection for me. Between my father, cooking for you, finding it relaxing myself, and just.... Knowing that you'd be willing to do the same for me. It's a complex feeling, one that I feel I'd like to keep to myself. ... With how I feel now, I probably wouldn't want to share with Lori either." These days, he'd been trying to keep his distance from Lori, not in the sense he didn't still lover her, but for so very long, they were kept in pairs. One couldn't exist without the other.
Part of him knew that was the case for a long, long time, only enforced by his attachment to Lori's hip.
Now, he didn't want that.... He had considered something drastic, such as dying his hair, or maybe getting colored contacts to wear, maybe even shaving his head. Careful consideration said, no. Just because they looked similar did not mean the same thing as them being the same.
"Oh." 'Mali had gotten lost in thought, and shook his head, smiling after a moment. What he craved.... He couldn't ask that from Wolframite. "I don't think I give it much thought when I come home. I tend to drink a smoothie or eat something quick on those nights. Anything I could just pop in my mouth and not have to work too hard on it works well."

He stared back a moment and tried not to snicker.
You're awful. He thought.
"Right. I'll keep that in mind. Don't judge me too hard. I haven't baked before. I'll make sure you don't get any that taste awful though." It would be a experience that was for sure, but he really should learn to cook a d bake so he had options other than what he kept in his room or the cafeteria.
He picked up the controller. "What games do you play at home? You k ow this one well enough so you must have played some. Got any favorites?"

"You hunt, correct? Or trying to do that more often? Stew often freezes very well, works perfectly with game meat, and is pretty easy to work with, as it's more about seasonings than anything else, and you have to taste to get that right. I'd be more than happy to come home to something like that waiting for me." It was awfully hard to mess up a stew, unless you oversalt it.... Or burn it.
Would their tongues recognize the same flavors, given that Wolframite had those extra chemicals there?
"... I do have a few favorites. Some more existential than others. Nier Automata is a favorite, makes you think... As is Katamari Damacy, for light hearted fun... And um...." Should the dating sims even be mentioned?
No. definitely not.
"Detroit, Become Human is another good one... I think my tastes become obvious when you play them. Meaning they are all over the place."

"Stew, huh? I guess I could try that. Hmmm. Guess that means I should hunt something for the meat more than the fur. Taking it you wouldn't eat racoon or fox then." He muttered.
"What about rabbit?" He asked, looking over at him. "I can't find any deer since they are harder to find in the woods. I've been trying." He mentioned. That or he tried to leave the city to raid a farm but by then he could go to a supermarket and where was the fun in that? He also doubted he could easily kill a cow without setting off alarms or getting some officers pissed at him for asking for that kind of teleport back in. He'd be punished in a second.
Sucks cause a cow hide would be amazing. He doubted Mali would have one if those.
"Those are some strange sounding games. I'll try and remember them. Maybe we can plan to play again when you're not busy and I'm better at them."

"Rabbit yes, but I'm not familiar with Raccoon or fox..." Rabbit was one of those delicate cuisines he would eat at one of the more high-class restaurants he'd occasionally be invited to. It'd been quite some time since he last had it, so it would be interesting whatever Wolframite would come up with.
"One more reason to go to the woods in a cabin, I take it. I heard winter is a good time for deer hunting, since they venture further out for food. It will be a good time, and good practice on how to preserve meat. You could even learn how to make your own jerky and dried meat, if you'd want. I'm sure I have a cook book somewhere in my home with that information." While 'Mali had no interest in dirtying his hands... It worked well to know where his food came from.
"Of course. And I'll be sure to have some things available if you want to come over still... I understand that the time you have is limited but... It would be nice to see you more often."

"Yeah. If I kill a deer, I can leave the meat outside and trim it up there. I already have skinning tools. I just need to get some butchering ones and see things to store the meat. I got a book on butchering animals already because I was curious, so it works out. I just haven't cooked anything since it's just me and I don't have my own kitchen. If I wanted one, I have to out in a request."
He looked about his room a moment. It was small and limiting, and the thought of being here forever was starting to get to him. He wanted more space.
"I - actually might be fixing that. I out paperwork in for approval to move out. There is a lot of unclaimed areas in the Negaverse to build on and my room is kinda small. So - been waiting to hear back on that."
He glanced over at Mali. "Maybe sometime in the future, I might have the chance to invite you over for dinner instead of the other way around. Not that I mind visiting - well, when I know who's there."

”... You’d move out of here?” While it was true that there were plenty of empty spaces, the barracks were already all they needed, right? Then again, he couldn’t imagine living in such a paltry room. He couldn’t even fit a king size bed in here.
“Well, if that’s the case, and if there’s anything I can provide, please let me know. We could even take a trip to one of those furniture stores, like IKEA or something to get you whatever you may need. But wouldn’t you be alone over there? Atleast around here you have other staff members around.”
