Things were getting started outside. Troops were storming the place, based on what sounds made it through the din caused by the panicking people, and what's more, they were probably packing heat. That latter part had nothing to do with situational awareness; it was just common sense. Nobody in their right mind would stage this elaborate of an operation without fully committing their resources, especially knowing that bigshots from their enemies' military branches would be present.
That said, it was entirely possible this was a diversion, Bast conceded. The thought passed through her mind that an attack could currently be getting launched on the Sand, and she wasn't there to help. That really put a damper on her idea of waiting around to ensnare any soldiers who came her way, but then again, she was feeling particularly feisty. She needed exercise to keep her mind off of Sonyo's death, and this was a perfect opportunity. The woman took a deep breath, cleared her mind, and began what she would call a warm up for defending the Sand after she returned.
The real Bast jogged down the stairs into the stands a short distance while her clone approached the nearest exit. The clone placed its hands on the ground, opening a rift under the exit hallway. As the metal curtain blocking their egress strained against its supports, Bast sprinted up the stairs and hurled herself at it, knocking it free and sending it pinwheeling into the hallway beyond. The clone followed up with a Daitoppa to blast the dust and debris outward and propel the real body into the hallway. As the smoke cleared, Bast would find herself surrounded by a bewildered battalion of UHV grunts, their formation in disarray thanks to a strategically placed door.

As trouble stirred, the cat rolled around. Ayame's heavenly fingers had turned him onto his back, but now, he stood crouched in her arms, blue and green eyes wide but pupils slitted as he watched the gas spread and then one of those running around in the stands to suddenly barge through the door. What followed shortly after were the sounds of battle.
Who they were, if they were UHV or someone else, the feline cared nothing for. He merely watched carefully, his elevated perch near a shinobi of great power keeping him away from the gas that spread throughout the room. When he watched the first bodies drop to whatever poison was within the green fog, he knew it was time to leave. However, instead of going immediately, he bided his time and waited until the door was crashed open by a white hair lady, allowing the gas to air out.
Only once this criteria of the gas being weakened was met, did the large Norwegian forest cat jump out of the arms of safety and, amidst the chaos, skillfully weaved his white body across the tops of chairs in a relative beeline to the guarded Mizukage.
The moment the heavy steel doors slammed into place, Inka's face turned positively bestial in a single frame; teeth bared as thin lips peel back into a savage snarl, nose wrinkled and jaw tight. He didn't fully turn around, only half-stepped around, keeping the Kiri Anbu member at his back. The elite shinobi had also reacted, taking up a defensive stance to protect their kage. Inka would have spat his disdain, but people's lives were possibly on the line. It was unclear if the gas was meant to be lethal or debilitating. "Cut 'em down." He snaps, meaning to take no prisoners. A dagger is taken up in the Mizukage's hand, his blood seething as he steps up onto the banister and launches himself forward and down, using the adrenaline to cut through the netting. He was ready to demand death upon anyone threatening the safety of his son. The Anbu didn't immediately follow, making sure no-one followed before taking up the rear guard of his liege.

The cat followed Inka down and out the stands, intuitively keeping a distance behind because of the annoying looking ANBU guard.
Luna gave a low growl as the large feline jumped from her arms and she smelled gas. She saw Bast and mere seconds after it had started coming out of the vents, the gas stopped. Everyone move as far away from the vents as you can. If the person beside you is having issues getting moving help them. Badru! She yelled out. The blue haired male ran off in Bast's direction as Luna headed off to check on the examinees. The gas had barely even made it out of the vents, so if the rest of them could get far enough away they would be fine. Badru, delved into the shadows behind Bast before letting out a growl that seemed to rumble through floor and those around her. Out of the shadows stepped a large wolf his green eye shining menacingly. He stepped up to his full height towering over the light haired woman. The smile he gave the UHV stretched the hole in his mouth making his pearly whites shine through.

UHV reinforcements stormed onto the already chaotic scene. Their weapons were already drawn, so they clearly knew that something was happening that required an overwhelming amount of firepower to address, but they were not mentally ready for the scene that greeted them. The woman--standing as she was at the center of a scene of devastation--was one thing, but the enormous beast behind her was another.
"Fire! Everything!" one of them shouted. In response, kunai launchers released a full salvo of munitions, Chakra-nullifying nets were thrown, poison smoke bombs detonated, and cries for backup were screamed down the hallways. It was a panicked hailstorm of artillery from every direction.

"Ah, I was wondering where you had gotten off to," Bast greeted Daichi as her clone jumped the chasm to join them. "I'll handle defense this round. Do me a favor and duck."
As the rain of munitions bore down upon them, the woman put a foot on the metal barrier she'd unceremoniously dismantled just a few moments earlier. Her clone made a few hand signs and put its hands on the ground, lowering the ground beneath the two Basts and Daichi substantially while the main body flipped the metal barrier over them like a turtle shell. There was a sound not dissimilar to fierce rain as the munitions and nets splashed across their defenses. However, because their defenses weren't airtight, gas started to seep in.
"Alright, here's the plan," Bast shouted at Daichi over the din. "I'm going to pop this cover up. Use that chance to attack, but try not to inhale any of that gas. Not sure if it's the same as in the arena, but it can't be healthy if they're firing it at us."
The woman counted down from three, then hit the metal barrier with an uppercut, sending it up hard enough that it partially embedded in the ceiling.

Daichi did as Bast said and ducked, using her amazing defense strategy Daichi gave a long growl and proceeded to use teeth, claw, and his sheer size and bulk to overpower the group of UHV. He tore into their necks, crushed heads, and incapacitated others by crushing hands. He was not in the mood for their shenanigans and idiocy. They would also not hurt a soul in his pack. Bast was his, you didn't hurt what was his. When he was done he stood beside Bast making sure to be able to block anything that would come at her. He dropped an arm he didn't realize he still held in his mouth and bared his teeth. He would become death to those that threatened his. Daichi's ears quickly moved and the ground beneath the UHV who had not been killed became swamp. He knew of their chakra negating crap but this was the earth changing it's state. He hoped they all sank into the depths and suffered.

As Daichi tore through the UHV's ranks and turned the ground into a glorified tar pit, the grunts not immediately in his path collectively fired off the last of their munitions in every direction. Their shields triggered on the Yomi Numa, stabilizing their footholds enough to get off a handful of clean shots toward Daichi and the pit where the Basts were hiding. Then the swamp consumed their footholds, dragging them down as well. The swamp would eventually cover all the ground in the hall except where Daichi was standing, the lack of stability sending cracks spiderwebbing along the walls and ceilings.
Then the ceiling exploded. A hailstorm of masonry tumbled down toward the shinobi as the roof collapsed. As if that weren't bad enough, a tremendous downdraft accompanied it, turning what was already an easily lethal situation into one that could shred through defenses. If they made it through, the Suna-nin would taste clean air and find the entrance surrounded by UHV troops who had erected defensive walls to serve as cover. Overhead were nearly a dozen enormous birds, circling the arena like vultures.
As Daichi plowed through troops left and right, Bast and her clone would leap out of their pit and prepare their own strategy. The main body would knead Chakra into the air around her to form tornadoes, sucking away any projectiles that might have otherwise caught them off guard. Next, the clone would--
Then the ceiling dropped. This wouldn't have been much of an issue on its own, but the failure was seemingly enhanced by winds from the outside. Without a moment to spare, the clone formed a ringed ball of Chakra in one hand and thrust it out. As soon as the sphere came into contact with something, there was a flash of light that blew the debris into little more than dust, along with the clone itself. Bast would hunker down and erect an earthen wall around Daichi's patch of earth to keep the two of them from being blasted back by the shockwave. Her mind was racing, trying to piece together what had just happened and formulate a strategy while still giving them a defensible position.

Daichi thought quickly and hauled Bast on to his back to run through to the open area, of course using the bodies of the UHV to get through his own swamp. He slowed his steps when they were close and growled low in his throat at their predicament. They were freaking surrounded and he was not one to enjoy being caged. He growled and used his ears again to cross them and stomped his paws all the debris the UHV had created lifted towards them and buffeted their shield wall. Daichi made sure Bast was protected and used his ears to make his signs pouring more chakra to make sure his swamp would swallow them all. He looked at Bast, Got any lightning? It worked on Manda. He said tilting his head at his former kage.

Despite being pelted by rocks and facing down the creeping swamp, the UHV soldiers held their ground. Faced with such overwhelming force, they dug in, circling around what looked to be battery packs that had been staked to the ground. Their shields wavered under the onslaught, but didn't break. The swamp didn't quite reach them, either. They had formed pockets protected by constant shielding. Still, even with that, the rocks launched by Daichi's technique couldn't be negated and were rapidly wearing through the enemies' traditional defenses, even taking a few out.
Spikes were launched into the encroaching swamp. As soon as they came into contact with the foul mud, green sparks would burst out of them, turning the mud into little more than dirty water and stopping its advance.
A hailstorm of arrows drenched the area where the Suna-nin were launching their counterattack. As they made contact with physical objects, the arrows would explode into various elements. It was clear that the UHV had no plans to let the powerful shinobi escape unscathed, if at all. The combination of Daichi's swamp and this attack were demolishing what was left of the building.
((Patches of ground remain unaffected by swamp. A-Rank hail of random elemental arrows from overhead, covering the entire area.))

"Lightning, coming right up! You'd best not make me regret this!"
Bast took a deep breath as Daichi carried her across the battlefield. Then she began to sing, first intoning a long, low note, then proceeding with a song that crashed down on the battlefield like a wave. At once, Daichi's swamp would transform into an ocean of lightning, but that alone proved to be too little.
Before the arrows started coming down, Bast had already decided what to do. She made a few hand seals and timed the release of a massive amount of Chakra with Daichi's expansion of the swamp. Five tremendous gates rose up across the battlefield, practically splitting the mesa in half with their size. Naturally, they would block the arrows, but that wasn't all: one by one they would open and spew an ocean of the electrified swamp water, drowning everything in a waterfall of lightning. Even behind the near-black lenses of her goggles, the ex-Kage had to squint to avoid seeing spots.
She couldn't figure out where the arrows had come from. Maybe the birds? They were pretty far away, though that hadn't stopped many of the archers she'd known. If her gates weren't in the way, she might've launched a retaliatory strike in the direction the arrows had come from. At this point, though, it would likely be wiser to retreat while the enemy was either frying or pinned down. As almost an after-thought, Bast created another Wind Clone so she could talk to Daichi while still singing.
"We need to leave," the clone told the wolf matter-of-factly, standing close and not taking its eyes off the skies. "Tunneling might be the best option; I doubt any of the kids will be able to handle this mess. Where are Ayame and the others?"

Daichi quickly sniffed the air and listened out until he smelled his tamer....under the scent of others. He looked back at Bast, "Hang on." He said before diving under the earth and travelling to the area where he had smelled his tamer. When they came out of the earth and shook the dirt from his fur being sure not to dislodge Bast. "Found em." [At the entrance to the hallway where Ayame and the group are]

Bast quickly shifted to a stone form as Daichi submerged the two of them in earth, but did not stop singing in time to avoid getting a mouthful of dirt. In her place, her clone picked up the song, perpetuating the waterfall of lightning now drenching the battlefield. If the UHV were on the move, it was impossible to tell around that highly lethal mess.
