How I Color Hair with Copics
1. First we start off with the line art, it's inked and ready to be colored. I have my copic markers chosen. Even though Katana's hair color is black, I don't want to color it completely black so I chose cool grays. C4, C5, C6, and C7

2. With C6 (the second to darkest shade) I'm going to work my way in from the bottom and top edges of the hair with the brush tip of the marker while leaving space for highlights. You want to leave enough empty space because the further we go in the lighter the colors are going to get so you need enough space to fit the lighter colors in.

3. Now using C5 overlap coloring what we did in step 2 and continue to work your way into the empty space highlights while still leaving room for one more lighter color.

4. Using C4 continue doing the same process of coloring over and working it into the blank space highlights. Since this is the final shade you can leave as much or as little blank white space.

5.Lastly take the darkest tone C7 and starting from the bottom and top edges of the hair, color in the darkest shades of hair. If you like you can use an even darker color (C9) and use it sparingly for showing a deeper shadow in some areas but for now this is good.

That's pretty much how I color hair working from the outside going in with my 2nd darkest color choice to my lightest then going back to add my darkest shade. You can use even less colors and the process would be the same. This is also the same process I use when coloring skin. Happy coloring!
