User Image"Shadow..." How could Kagerou be anything but worried. Instinctively, though she knew it was no use, she had twisted her head this way and that to see if she could catch were Shadow went, her movement one of several similar ones among the crowd.

What was different was that she suddenly stopped twisting her head at a poorly enunciated word her ears caught. Surreptitiously, she peeked out of the corner of her eyes to see who had said that word and to who. He suspicions were correct. "Target get." There was much similar between Kokorogakure and Kirigakure. What she saw just now was something she commonly saw in any village, but that made it all the more easier to assume. "Secret services and superior." CORE, VORTEX, ANBU, Oinin. They were all similar, and Kagerou was very much personally familiar with the mindset that ran through such organizations.

Um, well, but that was her mind getting way ahead of itself. She didn't need all of that to recognize the simple, clear exchange.

She didn't have any power, be it strength or influence. In this case, rely on the powers of others. The man who commanded the anbu of the village will receive word, be it obvious or not, of Shadow's discovery. At the moment, this was the best lead Kagerou had.

Now, even the question of how to approach this non-native speaker had been answered. "Kokuei?" under such circumstances, she carefully kept her words to herself, and so from behind Baranara, she expressed surprise and recognition with silently raised eyebrows.

An instant passed. Baranara didn't even finish his sentence when a smile easily slid onto Kagerou's face.

She had trained this for years, and a smile was always her most comfortable expression. Still, she couldn't be sure. The best mirror she had since coming to this world was her reflection in the water. However, driven by making sure those close to her were alright, she could only do her best, "Kokuei?" Kagerou called out. Uncertainty at first, she had decided. A few steps, more to the side than forwards, as if to get a clearer view of the face. Then, with more force and steadiness, she chirped again, "Kokuei!" as she jogged up to besides the fallen child and helped him up, "You..." She was at a loss for words.

No, honestly, the decision was to trick Baranara, but this reaction was all in all, genuine. She was surprised to see Kokuei. She wasn't completely certain it was Kokuei until just now. She really didn't know what to say after meeting him here after what... happened...

So, in all honesty, Kagerou could only end with a wry smile and admit, "You know... I'm not really sure what I should say to you... Um... Oh yeah, where's the cow? Don't tell me you've come back without your pet."

Baranara... ignored. After all, gotta make him even more frustrated, and by proxy, even more determined to detain Kokuei and Kagerou.

[W]atching Shadowseeker leave was perhaps one of the more difficult choices Hesrik had to make that day. Or, well, since he'd woken at least. There was the brother to the man whom he worshiped, the one with knowledge he could use to return himself to the power he once wielded and to track down the one power that would allow him to rule this world absolutely. Takira, the Bloodied Iron, would be nothing but a smear upon the unforgiving earth in an instant with the power that it would bestow.
tab And he had to let the boy go.
tab There was no anger, nor rage, within his heart as he watched the boy shunshin away. Only cold calculations. Hesrik looked like Junan because he wore the robes of the Devourer's cultists, those who worshiped the dark creature from the depths of the Echoes. Shadowseeker couldn't have known that which is what led to this confrontation. Logically speaking he'd want to know why Hesrik resembled his hated foe, and with him having intimated he knew more about Junan Shadowseeker was likely to come calling. He'd heard legends that the boy was his namesake, a shadow who kept out of the sight of others and avoided the open air. Given his reaction it was clear that legend, at least, was based on reality. AS such it meant that he would likely reappear only when Hesrik was by himself, out of the public eye where any words or actions would be outside of scrutiny. If that was true than he would need to make haste to his own abode.
tab Turning his gaze to those gathered, some of which looked at him with a bit of shock for defending his own attacker, the Kokorokage turned back to his companion with an expression that spoke volumes. Few could ever claim to understand Hesrik, since most of his face was obscured, but only Baranara truly knew anything about the leader of the village. Or rather, knew anything accurate. As such he could see that Hesrik wasn't angry, but more...thoughtful. There was no rage in what happened, nor aggression or desire for vengeance. "Baranara," he began, his tone careful and measured. "I will make my way to the Point. I have a feeling the boy will come for me, but do not stop him. I have much to discuss with him. When all is done I will explain to you what has happened. I...did not expect to see this boy alive, else I would have explained much sooner."

GREY xxxxx
Finally, some reprieve from the chaos of the village square. Grey followed the woman's directions and made her way to the office door, ignorant of the company that had followed her. Taking a firm grip of the handle, she'd give it a few quick turns to see if it was locked or not. The door easily gave way to her attempts, opening to give her full access to this new found sanctuary; people in this village must be very trusting. Grey took a few short steps inside, then slumped forward onto the floor, landing on her shins, and opened the bag of food she had acquired from the merchant. Now free from the fire, prying eyes, troublesome elvis-esque digimon, pineapples, and psychotic cloaked dudes, Grey dug her unbandaged hand into the bag and began shoveling its contents into her mouth while she waited for her benefactor's return.

Over time the fires faded into nothing and Sundace was left standing alone among the ashes while the citizens around him all started to pick up the remaining pieces of their lives. Their sad faces pulled up his heart strings like a lasso and hog tied his heart into the ground like a wild pig. What kind of guardian would he be if he didn’t even try to lift those poor unfortunate souls from the murky deeps? And yet alas! He lacked the proper tools to cascade his way into all these empty hearts. Well looks like cappella it is! Stretching out his vocal muscles Sundance gave a few practice hums that undoubtedly would earn him strange looks from anyone who wasn’t musically inclined. When he was at least ready the monkey man leaped up on box near the side of the street to make sure that everyone would have the chance to spot his beautiful frame and began his song. Slow at first as if one wouldn’t really be able to tell he was singing, but gradually the musical notes sprung forth from his lips like col water pouring down to all those below him to turn back the tide of sadness and fear.

SONG

Finished with his piece Sunny flung both of his arms to either side of him and threw his hand back waiting for the applause to follow his masterpiece. Or he at least hoped he brightened their shitty day a little.

User Image___________________The Narrator Whispers...||
tab Scattered applause took place around the crowds as Sundance finished his ballad, his "beautiful" voice resounding across all glass in the area, causing them to rattle in appreciation of his efforts. They all bowed their heads with hands to their ears to keep the sounds of adoration and worship within their skulls, lest it bleed from their ears and be lost forever. There were tears of joy, and somewhere a part of a building collapsed as it became too weak in its supports and collapsed. How could it not, hearing those sweet dulcet tones and the cries of a million fans thunder into the distance.
tab Or was that actual thunder?
tab Either way the fire was out, and there were some actual pats on his back and words of thanks as he was rewarded for his part to play. At some point this also included a pouch of coins, though there it comes from is hard to say. Nearby the sounds of arguments and conversation are quite apparent, many discussing the strange nature of the lightning blast and its origins. Where had it come from, and why did it strike an empty building used as storage for the village's eventual mount supplies?
tab At this took place, however, on the other side of the village's market Grey sat with her hand in a bag filled with what could best be described as pretzel balls, though coated with honey and butter and a hint of cinnamon. Strange and sweet, the balls would also have a warming effect on her chest where swallowing it would cause a welling warmth to spread to her limbs. About her, the room she now stood would appear strangely spartan, with no paintings or decorations on the walls but with plain wooden chairs with simple cushions ringing a small wooden round table, barely enough to sit the five people who could fill the chairs. A bed rested in the corner with a green comforter pulled to the lush pair of pillows at its head, yet these looked strangely perfect, as if never truly used. Two windows, one at the front and one at the back, lay open with a fine netting used to keep the worst of the land's indigenous insect population from entering.
tab It all rested within a room that looked like it could have bunked three or more people rather comfortably.
tab Strange as this empty place would be it wouldn't take long for Grey to hear footsteps outside mirroring the pace of his benefactor, though this time with slightly more weight behind it. In fact he'd hear her grunt outside as she made her way up the stairs, though why she would wouldn't be apparent without seeing her. Of course she wouldn't need to wait long, and if Grey remained still she would appear shortly within the door carrying two large boxes on top of one another, enough that she couldn't see where she was going. [You can react before this happens. I'm just mentioning it for you to continue writing as you like.]
Mission Objective

[x] My retreat led me to a rooftop maybe a hundred feet from where I'd stood a moment before. I'd seen many of the surrounding roofs while in the air fighting 'Junan', although I hadn't necessarily been conscious of doing so. It was a useful skill, sometimes. I could pinpoint details I only subconsciously noticed later on. The problem with it, though, was the fact that sometimes my brain was overloaded with information and it all scrambled itself in the void of my mind. I had a perfect recollection, but more often than not memories were mixed with each other, making some details I needed chance at best to find unless I thought about it for a bit. To be honest 'daydreaming' for most people was my time to sort through everything I had encountered. That was why familiar places were most comfortable.

I turned my attention back toward the market street I'd just escaped. Although I couldn't see what was going on, I was still close enough that my sensitive ears could pick up parts of what was going on. I could identify voices, but some words were unintelligible. I heard Kagerou's voice in there, calling after Kokuei, who I recalled catching a glance of during the fight, as well as the large man with the accent calling out orders. Right, it wasn't safe for me to stay in one spot for long. I also heard the voice of the man whose appearance I had mistaken, and it was that that I focused on.

The path that I'd taken in this new life relied on training the senses. Because of that, through sound and scent, I could focus the entirety of that sense on a single target. However, that was at the cost of context of the world surrounding that sense. In the case of this man, I could hear his voice and the words he was saying clearly, but if anyone responded to him, I had no way of knowing. Vise versa, I could generalize my senses but a lot of detail was lost. As I honed in on the man, I caught something about 'discussing with him', and that he hadn't expected to see 'this boy' alive. I assumed he meant me. I felt my stomach churn, though wasn't quite sure if the emotion I felt was shame or dread.

I heard footsteps moving away, which meant he was moving. I needed more information, and it seemed this stranger didn't have the intention of being hostile. Cautious, maybe, but I felt he would neither attack on sight, or give me away if I revealed myself. Opening my eyes, I started quickly but quietly after him.

Keeping careful attention of my surroundings in case I was found, I crossed several rooftops, pulling ahead of the man's footsteps before dropping into an alleyway a few meters down the street from where he walked. I remained hidden there until he was close enough that I could step out without revealing myself to the entourage of guards back the direction we'd come from. I kept my hands at my sides, relaxed as I could be so my presence didn't come across as more of a threat than it likely already did.

🌴"Cold: the air and water flowing, Hard: the land we call our home,Push to keep the dark from coming, Feel the weight of what we owe"🌴

One of those trademark angry veins formed on the Banamans forehead when the pineapple man wouldn't budge. Only for a green haired girl to come in around and start crying out to him. Well now, there was two accomplices. He'd faintly pick up Hesrick and his words stating to reconvene with him later to find the mysterious assailant. He nodded. Seeing how certain the man was Baranara contemplated the order to call back the wraiths from their investigation... still. He redacted that thought. At least a patrol would prevent the assailant from making any further flights of fleeing before his 'inevitable' meeting with Oregano.

No there was something else he needed to focus his attention on, the accomplice of an accomplice. Baranara was starting to develop a gut distaste for foreigners. In his old tribe foreigners had one purpose, come, trade for banana, and leave. The concept of immigration threatening the close knit 'tribe' that had been built was starting to strike a nerve. Lord help him if more infractions were being incurred by foreigners and not their own as this prejudice would continue to grow.

He'd then bend over. Kagerou would feel two 'meaty' hand grasping her center before she was flipped around. "You! Being you know criminal man! Besting be explaining to me now! If no friendly me no tolerate!" rather harsh of the man to treat what seemed to be a wide-eyed near weeping gal cherishing a reunion so roughly. Roughly emphasized as the grip on her sides grew tight enough to cause a wince, though unintentional as the banana man did not know his own strength. But before she could even say anything the man let her go and said quite boldy. "No. Nevermind. Me know only one way me know I can trust." His face grew really close to Kagerou's as their faces grew uncomfortably close. Then...slowly...rising between their faces was his hand...and in it, something...slowly did it continue to rise...then now between them...a peeled Banana in the center of both their visions. Baranara said only one word. "EAT"

Yes. Indeed one of Baranara's measurements of character is whether or not someone likes Banana's. Thank goodness he never put this test to Hesrick or he'd have failed immediately. The sacred creed. "No one who like Banana can be bad man. All those who dislike Banana, one must watch carefully lest he cause your bunch to spoil."

User Image"Clearly no need to try so hard to get his attention..." came the strained thought as Kagerou found her squeezed tightly by her target. Her rather flat, stretched smile was very much genuine. The smile of, "I have no idea what is happening, but I'll go with it," and she went with it, including being turned and shaken upside down. Kagerou didn't have the time to think in a word edge-wise before she was released and returned to the ground on unsteady legs.

"We are..." Kagerou began as she took a few steps from one side to the next to regain her balance. Then a banana was shoved in her face. A banana and an order. Kagerou looked square at the unpeeled fruit and then up into the face of the banana man. Behind the not untrue dazed smile, Kagerou was making calculations on the next steps.

She decided to take the banana in both hands and, playing up the inherent cuteness of her head, open her mouth wide to take a big chomp of the fruit. Shifting the chewing to one side of her mouth so it formed a chipmunk cheek, Kagerou praised the banana, "Oh wow! This is good," swallowed, "But trade routes aren't established," bright, shiny eyes, "Don't tell me you grew this here? Woah! That's so cool!" not entirely a lie, but she did have reasons for wanting to get on Baranara's good side, "Back in the past, this area of the Water Country had too much moisture and too cold winters to support banana growth without sophisticated greenhouses. I've only been traveling through this part of the land recently this last month or so, but it doesn't look like the climate has changed much since... however long ago it was that I used to live in Kiri. Tell me, how did you grow this? And so sweet, too!". As if to emphasize the deliciousness of the banana, Kagerou chomped down another bite with unfeigned eagerness. She was, after all, hungry. To be honest, even if it did matter whether or not she was being poisoned, she would have easily accepted any food given to her.

"BARAHRAHRAH!" After the pleasant reaction to the DOMINANT FRUITY DELIGHT the large man would slap the girl on her back quite mightly with heartiness behind each pat. "Now me know you gooding person. Not only liking the Banana but wanting know how to be growing banana! BARHRAHRAHA." He looked at Koukei, Baranara's attitude toward foreigners improving if just slightly thanks to Kagerou's reactions but enough that he'd so easily forgive Shadow for attacking the Kage. Catching wind of brother Suns songs he placed his hands on his hips then nodded as his mood improved overall. Then he'd lean down pick up the unconscious pineapple vendor and toss him over his left shoulder like he was a sack of flour.

He then looked at Kagerou and blinked twice creating a 'moment' between the two where what was implied to happen next was going to occur. "Hup" Wrapping his arm around Kagerou's waist also like a sack of flower hoisted her on his opposite shoulder. To her right would be Koukei's butt and dangling legs. Likely confused at the sudden 'hoisting' of her person the bananaman spoke. "Now, me be believing you is good person, but that not meaning me not still having question. Me not know what a kiri. But me live in water country too. Lot of water and sand good time. Simple time. Me telling you how me make Banana after you telling me all need to know. Then. Maybe. Baranara considers you possible future wife. Only MAYBE. Not having very strong arms you. Also needing time to grow into woman. Not sure if bear strong kin. But liking Banana already major plus. So much good is you."

Unless resisted he'd be dragging this duo to Watcher's point the seventh floor specifically, his room. Why his room. Because yes.

User ImageIt... appeared that Kagerou's attack was super effective? She was all too happy at her success. The specifics of Baranara's reaction, his method of expressing his approval, weren't terribly important. Kumotake was a cold kid who had a heart of glass. Toso ended his sentences with bizarre bloops and yet was also one of the most cultured men Kagerou ever knew. She had met her fair share of really weird and random people who left terrible first impressions but were really good once you got to know them. The important fact here wasn't how Baranara acted, but that she got on the good side of someone who clearly had some authority in the village.

That is, Kagerou was all too happy until, in the middle of waving side to side in joy, she suddenly found herself hoisted... again. Still holding the banana in two hands, Kagerou got to enjoy(?) the view of Kokuei's butt. First thought, "He's been slacking on his workout, this kid." Of course, not a fair assessment. Kagerou grew up in a shinobi family and spent much of her career attending to shinobi. Second thought through fourth thoughts not terribly important. Mostly Kagerou parsing rapidly through everything Barara said. Fifth thought, "Um, excuse me?" rudely interrupted the fourth thought before it ended, triggered by Baranara's "consideration."

She was quickly relieved of any such concerns, concerns such as how she would escape and if she needed to castrate a (potential) *****, in the next few lines. Oh goodie. So he would wait for her to grow up. Kagerou nodded sagely as she understood what he meant. He probably was looking forward to repopulating or something similar. She could see how it could be an important goal to some, and having such an interest meant for sure that Baranara wasn't interested in immature girls, at least if his appraisal of her body meant anything.

Unfortunately for Baranara, Kagerou had no interest in settling down. There was so much training still ahead of her, then after training, she had to gain experience, and while gaining experience, there would no doubt much that she would need to help with if she wished to live up to her expectations. Of course, Kagerou didn't voice such differences yet. Taking in her surroundings, she noticed that they were walking towards what appeared to be the "kage's tower" of this "village." It didn't take much thinking to decide that Kagerou would wing along for the journey. This could be a rare opportunity. Get a good foothold in with the leadership, and then see what could be done from there.

Through all this (though, mostly because the shock of the blunt marriage proposal), Kagerou forgot to actually say anything out loud.

[E]ach step was counted as the Kokorokage made his way toward Watcher's point, his eyes drifting lazily side to side as he passively kept watch on his surroundings. Had it been any other person who had attacked him and escaped Hesrik would have been on the defensive and walking with a jutsu prepared in reserve. Yet Shadow was but one of three people he knew wouldn't harm him, at least not right then. As such his pace was lackadaisical, his grip upon his scythe loose while his eyes turned towards an alleyway next to Erza's home.
tab He almost did a double take when he saw a figure stride out of the shadows and fall into step beside him. 'That was quicker than I thought,' he chortled within the depths of his mind. "Would you prefer we make our way to my office, where things are a bit more...private?" A simple suggestion but one he hoped the boy would take him up on. A simple word would be all he needed to utilize one of his shunshin techniques to take them to his office. Doing so without permission would be nothing short of rude, and would likely set the boy on edge enough to initiate a fight or flight situation. "That, or we can talk here. Few would have seen your face long enough to recognize you in a village where members are transient." Taking another step he waved a hand behind him, brushing his robes back as if dust had been there. What Shadow likely would fail to notice was that this was a signal to his guards who would be within sight to fall back.
tab After the short fight that the pair had had he would doubt any would believe him unable to defend himself. He was rather spry, after all, for someone who looked as old as he did. Still, he waited for a response, aware that it wouldn't be long before Baranara followed, and of the two it would be the latter who would act without thinking to take Shadow down. He wouldn't allow that to happen, of course, but it would cause more problems than it's worth.

[x] The man must have figured I would confront him, which was fine, but he was ready when I made my appearance. Surprised, but calm. He also knew I wasn't going to attack him. For the moment, we had a truce. Besides which, I had no reason to attack him despite how he looked. Hatred of the Devourer still burned true, but with a clearer mind, I could see the differences in appearance. Not to mention the voice was different.

I was still struggling to sort through the wave of memories I had received. I remembered now how I 'died', with Junan's disgusting grin presented to me that made my blood boil. There were still gaps in my recollection, but we had hunted each other for years, and in the end he won. Barely with his life, but he won.

I also remembered... abilities that were all too familiar that I shouldn't have had. I didn't know the why or how, but it confirmed for me something I'd avoided for a very long time. My right eye was a Sakkakugan. At some point in the gaps of my memory, I'd obtained it. Which more than likely meant he was dead. Jack. I didn't know the circumstances behind it, but it left me feeling ill. I wondered for a moment if the feeling showed.

Regardless, this man wanted to talk, either somewhere private--at which I glanced up at the tower briefly--or right there. I could hear the large man who'd interfered practically shouting nearby. Not in a threatening way but just because he was boisterous in general. Regardless of this man's desires, his friend would likely attack me on sight. Meaning I wasn't safe out on the street. On the other hand, I wasn't so sure I trusted this Junan clone. I glanced at the tower again, lingering this time as I struggled for the millionth time to get my voice to cooperate with me. Weirdly, maybe because of the regained memories, it felt a little more compliant than it had in the last three months since we woke. I half hoped he would catch what I meant without words, but if I couldn't there would be no point in us 'talking'. "Privacy..." My voice was so hoarse and unused that it hardly sounded familiar to me. After all, I'd said all of one other word since waking, and months had passed since.

Kokuei:
I find myself in a void, with nothingness around me on all sides. I float through this nothingness and wonder what's going on. Good news is I've been to what I assume is the afterlife, and this is not it. Thats the good news. Bad news is, Where the ******** am I? I think I remember getting knocked out by a stupid tree that didn't exist previously. And Shadow attacking the Korokage?

What the ******** am I gonna do? Am I just unconscious until someone decides to wake me up? Oh boy this will be interesting. As I float through space, Darkness starts to fall around me and a black figure with a flame burning in its chest. I don't hear so much as I feel it speak, sort of, and my arms go numb. Weird, I didn't think I could feel things in an unconscious state. I feel this entity speaking to me, but I can't recall a word said after it's finished. The figure gestures to my arms, which I turn and exam only to find new knives on them, terrifying and rather sharp looking. I look back at the figure to find it waving at me and suddenly the darkness and space starts to recede.

With a thud, I wake up to being tossed onto what I presume is a shoulder. I then hear a voice, which I recognize as Lord Baranara, then I see a body I recognize tossed onto the other shoulder. So Kagerou is here too, huh? I notice I have the new knives on my arms still. I keep still and limp, and just let whatever is gonna happen, happen.

[A] single word was all Hesrik would receive, but to the Kokorokage it was enough. He knew well that sensation of wanting to avoid being seen, that itch beneath the skin of being watched. In his case there was something actually there, of course, but that didn't change what it felt like. Nodding shortly he held out the shaft of his scythe invitingly even as he begun to speak words of power in a careful, considerate cadence that might well spook the boy. But the reality was if they were to move fast it left few options, with only Shunshin being the optimal as it allowed him to take the both of them at once. Not optimal nor ideal, it nevertheless would take them both to the top of Watcher's point, to the home the one-time Mizukage had made his home, and the one place even Baranara wouldn't go without very, very good reason.
tab Should Shadow take the shaft when the last syllable was spoken he would transport instantly with him, a small burst of wind unleashed at his movement.

GREY xxxxx
Grey took a brief moment away from her meal to wander the room. As barren as it was, it was still more of a home than the feral girl had ever really known. Grey would sit down on one of the chairs, giving it a quick bounce in her seat before moving on to the next piece. Gathering her "belongings," she'd relocate her food to the table and drag the seat she had previously occupied over to it, pushing aside anything that stood between her and her claimed spot. Suddenly, a noise that the door broke her concentration. Grey's ears dropped against her head and her eyes narrowed in on the doorway, quickly darting to the sides to search for means of immediate cover. With the room being so barren, there was little that would offer any form of cover. Trapped in the open, Grey awaited whatever fate would befall her at the hands of the two-boxed man.
