Vulcan's temper snapped. She changed her mind about going to check the perimeter and moved to plant herself bodily between Kairatos and Castor.

"I am not opposed to being led," the Senshi of Volcanoes rumbled, eyes shining a couple shades darker than their usual liquid gold. "But every single one of you are mistaken if you think other order soldiers will fall in line just because a General-King wants to talk to her." She pointed at Corvus. "She is entitled to nothing.

Vulcan had nothing against Corvus. Had watched the Senshi of Vengeance conduct herself with dignity, felt sure that she was a strong woman and a force to be reckoned with, but she had also heard more than one person refer to this - whatever it was - as a party, or a show, or a pissing contest- and it was impossible to take any of them seriously when they seemed more interested in picking a fight with one of their own Royals than the dark force that had just left them.

"If Castor can not command enough authority here to go without people making jokes about his d**k size with his power alone, Corvus will not find it given to her because the enemy favoured her for a conversation. Leadership is not bestowed from the outside."

She knew because she'd had a leader once. The best, in fact. Sailor Ares had been gone a very long time, but the torch Vulcan carried for her burned as strong as it ever had.

Syrtis looked as though someone had knocked the wind out of him. He was staring, horrified, from his sister to Kairatos, Mars Knight heart throbbing weakly in his chest - 'Yo, can I still get your number tho?' it wanted to know. He didn't dare ask.

Eta - Mauvian

The slender silver tabby had remained a silent observer as the tension rose. There was nothing that she could add to anything said by those present and she had no intention of attacking until it was absolutely necessary to do so. Enough catty comments were already going around that she had no need to add anything, and for a moment it seemed as though the storm might simply blow over.

That moment was brief and an icy chill rushed through her, rustling her fur as she shivered in an attempt to shake it off. Balls of hail began to fall from the sky, pelting Negaverse agents that had made no move to attack-- save for the one that had a weapon at the ready. The one amongst them on the side of Order who had the power to make a difference had said that he was there to offer support and now he was directly antagonizing all of the Generals save for the General King?

Eta had missed so much, and it seemed like one of the things she'd missed was the moment when senshi had lost the ability to communicate and cooperate. When had that happened? At what point had they all become so lost?

Arsinoe closed in, a Knight, another senshi... And Celsus. Celsus was close, and he was tall and he was safe. Eta scrambled out from beneath the feet of those who might accidentally step on her on their way to bicker, timing a leap to gently land on the Chronos Knight's shoulder opposite Wendell. She butted her head lightly against the knight's a she caught her balance, softly muttering. "This is a disaster."

Meteora

Having arrived with Kairatos, the woman in white had stayed to the side taking in the display that was a General King and a Prince. She had never heard good things about either one of them but at this moment, she would have picked the King over the Prince. "Easy to egg on..." She mumbled as Kai marched over there and smacked the back of the male's head. Wincing as she knew that strength behind the blow, she really couldn't say she disagreed.

That was when the fighting REALLY started.

But it was between there own?

"Oh lord..."Meteora sighed as she threw her hands up into the air when people began moving and throwing d**k insults at Castor. "Here we go..."

Turning around, Met was about to go find a place to sit down and wait this out until she heard the voice of another woman explode. Leadership is not bestowed from the outside

That line itself made her turn on her heels and march directly over to stand slightly in front of her husband.

"And just how much about leadership do you know?" She spat out, leaning slightly forward. "Because last time I checked, if outside people don't recognize someone from your party as a 'leader' then being called a leader is nothing more than a fancy title given by people who don't have the self confidence to stand up for themselves. Corvus has earned more respect from all sides in the past 5 minutes than Castor could ever have. All he proved is that out of everyone here, two people seem to even consider him a respectable man and that is only because he's willing to get physical?" Her eyes glanced from Vulcan towards the male who had been edging Castor on from the start.

"You sound more like you are just standing up for a wounded puppy than a leader of a group of powerful beings. Worst of all, just proved to them just how fractured we are as a whole. They work in a military like unit. We work as people who can't seem to agree on anything, let alone 'leadership'."

Throwing her hands up in frustration, she glanced around at others again. "If no one can trust someone or a group to represent them then speak up and act on your own but make damn sure you take responsibility for your own actions and do not drag the others into it because we do not want to be cleaning up your mess."

This was ridiculous. Taranis raised an eyebrow at Valhalla. Oh, cool, super normal for him to turn his back to a General-King. Apparently his idea of helping the cause was protecting a GK over his own White Moon allies. What a totally logical thought. Apparently it didn't take much loyalty to become transcended.

Then Zinkenite's best friend was jumping to pile on, seemingly more comfortable in the company of a GK. "Why don't you take it to a coffee shop then, if your privacy is so important? And have your Chaos friend bring a cat or come as a General, if you don't want a crowd. An aura like that WILL draw a crowd. You're stupid to think otherwise."

And then Zinkenite was gone. Cool. With a threat of corruption. That did seem like the point, didn't it?

No sooner could he make up his mind about Corvus, and then the guy who hit the royal was going off on a rant about how Castor had embarrassed them. The senshi of sand leaned away from the flick and watched him with flat eyes. "No, I understand. You trust and wish to protect a General King, while attacking a royal from your own court instead." Another popped up, allegedly on their side, talking about how Corvus deserved more respect because the Negaverse liked her better, or at least that was how he heard it.

"That certainly sounds like a bold opinion," he said at Meteora. "And especially rich to pretend like Castor is the reason we look fractured. In the Negaverse, rank is based on power. On this battlefield, the most powerful White Moon fighter is Castor, whether you like it or not. And you apparently think the thing that makes us look strongest and unified is slapping him upside the head like an infant, insulting him, and offering to defend a General-King against him." In turn, he gestured to each who had chosen this path. "Disagree in private, not in the face of the enemy. Or maybe, to you, they aren't an enemy. Just a future ally for when one of them gets around to figuring out how to corrupt you."

Taranis let out a long sigh, opened his mouth again, and then laughed. "What am I doing? Why... this isn't worth it." Shaking his head, he turned from the scene and jogged off, not waiting for another word. There was a reason he avoided senshi, and this brief encounter was a microcosm of why. His asteroid was better; there he could at least find peace.

Kairatos stepped back to give Vulcan room for her determined move between him and Castor, not a sandwich he wanted to be part of and a damn tired argument.

"Honestly I don't give a ******** if you follow your nose to fruit loops as long as you use common sense. Dipshit blew an opportunity on ALL fronts and all you're hearing is "Bluh bluh bluh leadership and toning out the rest. Second, back it up, or go deal with the blip on the radar, unless you're too busy being pissed off to notice. I mean, far be it from me to stop a good snit in it's tracks"

God though he was going to pop someone in the mouth if people didn't stop assuming they had to be close enough to swap gum in order to get mad at him.

He gave an encouraging flash of a smile to Meteora, glowing with pride as his Wife demonstrated she was capable of holding her own.

"Pretending problems aren't there doesn't fix em." Neither did people closing their ears two words in, but that was a problem on all fronts. Especially when it came to people who even thought they heard the word 'follow'. It was a damn dirty word among a lot of these people, and he couldn't blame them.... not entirely. He'd been burned by bad leadership himself, and then having the man who had come back to DC with his hair white and screaming about bringing an army from his home-world to make war on the earth... it was pretty hard to beat that as examples of how it could go wrong.

"Met, I think the show is over, unless you wanna hang around and dust the inevitable youma gathering." He turned and jerked a thumb at the Prince of Hail, moving to walk back to her with a shrug. "I mean I'm as much a fan of a good head bang as the next guy but this is just gonna make my head hurt to no end."

He spared a glance for Syrtis, a lazy half salute and a wink as he moved to join Meterora.

Transcended Knight Valhalla of Jupiter

Oberon,” Valhalla reprimanded, brows furrowed with exasperated frustration as the younger senshi of adventure shrugged again. “We’re trying to not start fights,” he reminded him with a shake of his head, even as others reacted both subtly and not, in Wendell’s case, to Oberon’s comment.

As much as Valhalla did not like Castor’s methods, and did not personally agree with him on almost all topics, they were still on the same side. Stepping between Castor and Zinkenite was as much to protect the senshi and knights as it was to try and keep the Negaverse from retaliating to the unprovoked attack.

It didn’t seem as though others would let Castor’s actions go, even as Zinkenite and the other officers retreated. Not that Valhalla could blame them. He himself had stepped in to counter the prince of hail’s actions, but the retreat of the Negaverse meant the focus was once again turned on Castor. For or against, it didn’t matter.

This would be the best time to try and attack them, to catch them in a trap, Valhalla thought to himself as Kairatos’, and then Vulcan’s, tempers flared. Celsus too was voicing his dissent, although Valhalla wouldn’t be surprised if Celsus’ concerns were overlooked when the tension between fiery Kairatos and Vulcan seemed ready to erupt. A young woman (Metrora) stepped into the fray as well, invoking the ire of the still nameless senshi of sand.

Eternal Sailor Oberon

Even after the General King and his subordinates teleported away, Oberon still didn’t feel all that relieved. Valhalla was mad at him for whatever reason, but that was unsurprising.

Oberon lifted both hands and shoulders in a shrug. “I just call it as I see it,” he said in response to his brother and the cat shouting from Celsus’ shoulder.

“Just as I don’t think power is what makes a leader. Nor does age, or the illusion of so-called experience,” he added as he dug into his pocket for his phone once more, tapping some notes about the night’s exchange.

“I didn’t say anything people weren’t already thinking. Just like I’m gonna call that guy a coward for saying his piece and then leaving without any chance for someone to counter him,” Oberon’s voice rose as the distance between those still gathered and the brown haired sand senshi increased, until Oberon had one hand cupped over his mouth to make sure he was heard.

“Can’t come to an understanding or work together if no one wants to make an attempt!” he dramatically called after Taranis, even going as far as pushing himself up onto his tiptoes, as if that would help, regardless of already being over six feet tall.

“Want me to continue?” he asked with a glance to his brother, side stepping the Jupiter knight’s reach. “I can come up with something to insult everyone equally if that’ll make you feel better?” Oberon let out a small laugh at how embarrassed his brother looked, right up to the red in his cheeks.

“Having a leader is such an antiquated ideal. I’d rather have equality between individuals who may not think the same way but have the same goals. I don’t think of myself as better than, say… a chibi senshi. They might need some help to get their barring if they’re new to this mess, but they have their own unique experiences that others could learn and grow from.”

Oberon thought of Oort, Euporie, Skadi, Perdita, Chara, Adhil, and many others as equal to himself despite power levels and "experience" and was proud to work with them as a team.

Prince Castor

And this was exactly why he hated most of those who called themselves white moon. Exactly why the side of order would never win this war if they persisted on this path. Too many fools and ignorants who thought they knew better. Or, who refused to see the obvious right in front of them.

The attack never connected, his wings acting as shields, flesh and bone they might be. When Zink fled he felt a margin of tension drain away, especially when he took his two generals with him. Zink hadn't come for a fight, but a message. He had returned from whatever shadows he'd hidden away in and wanted it known. More, he wanted something else. Problem was, it was hard to tell what the elusive general king would seek out other than information or weaknesses. At the least, the man would have only seen what was widely know. Order lacked order, more, they lacked discipline.

He was tired. Everyone fought because none bother to think past the bridge of their noses.

"ENOUGH."

He shouted, letting his anger get the better hold of him. Everyone in the vicinity would feel the rippling cold before he called his magic once more, hail pelting them- not lacerating. Those that knew his magic well enough would see it and understand it for what it was. A warning. He was done tolerating, and he summon his crystal to prove a point.
"I am one moment away from letting myself use my crystal on all of you for even thinking this was not planned!" He flared, ignoring the rabble, focusing on Corvus. He was more subdued, looking almost haggard.

"I trust you in a fight, more, I trust you and your judgement. But the second Zink had a general the situation changed Corvus. You're too valuable to lose, and too well informed to risk. I stepped in, because the second you were joined by others was the second that you lost Corvus. Even you can't be that blind. Zink's methods are through his words, and the moment you give him a platform, he will have gotten what he wants. And today, he did. I helped him with that, I'll credit you that, but I would rather have senshi and knights hate me for being the murderer I am than give a general king a voice to lure them to his fold. You know these things Corvus, you should know them better than most. I attacked because I will not let him spread whatever message he wants."

"As for throwing my ice around-" He spun his crystal in his hands.
"I AM A PRINCE AND YOU WILL MIND MY WORDS."
He yelled. "I have played nice. I have waited, patiently, for you all to understand that each time you fail to even marginally accept we are at war, that I am not your prince. I am my own. I came and I watched, in silence. Observing yet not interfering because I trust Corvus. Because she knows the tactics of Zinkite. She knows when to fight and when to flee. But then other made their presence known and that is when I chose to act. Zink is powerful. More than many of you realize. As more appeared, the less I saw safety in our numbers and rank. But Zink is not a man who fights a battle he is uncertain of, and today, he was uncertain of a victory in battle enough to retreat and could content himself with the knowledge he gained nothing other than discord in our ranks."

He waved an arm out. "So congradulations all! We have played into the hands of the general king! Are you all not proud? Will you all blame me for my actions to stop our enemy from having voice? For forcing his hand and counting on his retreat in the face of conflict? No. Because so many of you are not thinking of the war we are in, of the tactics your enemy employs. Because so many of you want something to blame when things do not go the way you want. Corvus was sought out by Zink for a reason. That is her business and I do not require a reason, nor an explanation and neither should the rest of us."

He sucked in a breath.
"I. Am. Not. Your. Prince. But I am a prince all the same. I offer something the rest of you lack in the face of uncertainty. I will act to ensure the rest of you live, even if you will continue to hate me and spite me. I'll make as many deals with devils if it keeps the rest of you alive. And I will fight a battle I know I will lose if it keeps the rest of you safe." He hissed.

"So hate me. Disrespect me. Fight me. I am past caring or wanting your loyalty. The trust I place in you all is marginal, yet I have faith in your convictions to the cause. But it is high time you learn that often, you need to accept you cannot win a fight that was decided the moment you joined it. We all had a test of unity and today we failed, because we gave the general king what he wanted most- an audience." Shaking his head he was done for the day, crystal dismissed.

"Corvus." He addressed her a final time. "You may speak with me about this at a later date if you like, but with tensions as they are I think it best we both table it until then, provided you wish it."

He looked to the rest. "Vulcan. Taranis... stop. You both have better purposes for you anger and your frustrations. I will have my phone on me should you need me or wish to talk of what has occurred. Do not antagonize each other further, please. Enough venom has been milked from one snake tonight. I'd not have it bite deeper than it already has."

With that the prince stepped back, looking a bit more world weary than he had in months.
"I will see the rest of you... another time. I have no wish to see my presence cause more anger than it already has." Only a tiny little flurry of snow signaled where he'd gone- home.

T. Eternal Arsinoe

Castor was lucky he'd blown his top and left or Arsinoe would have been of a mind to knock the 'Prince's teeth in with his lantern. "I am never going to mind the words of that pompus windbag. Ever. ******** him and whatever pole he shoved up himself that makes him think he's earned any of the respect he thinks he deserves."

That was why Arsinoe hated the Royals. They were overblown assholes who thought everyone had to listen to them when they did nothing to actually help those around them. If any of the Royals had stepped up and done their job the war would be over. But they couldn't, wouldn't. And the Senshi couldn't ever actually rally behind someone and just work together for once. He wanted to beat all their heads in for all being such .... idiots. Everyone just wanted to be the best and the loudest. They wanted to just tear every Negaverse officer to pieces. He'd been one of those before but he'd learned. He still didn't trust them a lick but he trusted his cousin, his friends.

Castor had said he would follow Corvus lead, he would do what she wanted. Then he'd just attacked the Officers because some random a*****e Arsinoe had never seen before showed up and egged him on?

Who was in charge there?

Arsinoe set a hand on Corvus shoulder, ignoring those around them still bickering and being fools. "Lets go. Now." He had a few choice words for her about her actions and about trusting him rather than just going off and doing whatever the hell she wanted. He had a feeling that a certain red-head would have a few words too. "Celsus .... you're welcome to come too."

General Wolfeite

Up on the hillside, still observing, he was attempting very hard not to laugh - though it was proving to be more difficult than he would have though it to be, what with the Order members all running around like chickens with their heads cut off, and the winged one bellowing a tantrum like a four year old whose toy had been taken from him.

It should not have been so amusing, and yet it was. It was endlessly, ridiculously, wonderfully entertaining to see them all like this. It made it easier for the Negaverse, of course, and Wolfeite himself; he scarcely need do anything at all, because already they were fracturing themselves from the inside out.

Straightening, his ears once more alert and upright atop his head, Wolfeite's gaze flickered briefly down to where Oberon was, his grin feral and unseen beneath the mask. He had not forgotten their little deal; but now was neither the time, nor the place to discuss things further, or to meet, especially considering how it was now.

Wolfeite took a step back, satisfaction in his glowing gold eyes - and without another word, teleported silently away.

Transcended Eternal Corvus

Those who had known Cordelia Carden before she became Sailor Corvus midway through her junior year of classes at Crystal Academy would know how much appearances had meant to her. She prided herself greatly on being able to maintain her social standing while struggling with the self-conscious need to be liked by others. She hadn't been nice. She'd been willing to step on others and put them down in order to get where and what she wanted.

Eight years had changed things. Eight years, coming up on nine, had changed her.

The last time Corvus had been so absolutely embarrassed for bothering to open her mouth about anything had been during the first senshi meeting. They'd been called to the gymnasium of Meadowview High, summoned from their sleep for something mandatory. Each senshi in attendance, save for those of the Zodiac Court, had been given their first senshi phone. Everyone had been berated. No one had been safe. The shouting and name-calling was something that senshi seemed to have carried with them since then. How could they ever hope to be capable of anything more if that was their true legacy?

Celsus was beside her. She could feel his presence and it should have reassured her, should have given her the strength she needed to continue standing strong. Instead it amplified the voices of everyone talking to her, at her and about her. Everyone had something to say and the way their voices all thrummed together was almost dizzying.

Or maybe, to you, they aren't an enemy. Just a future ally for when one of them gets around to figuring out how to corrupt you.

If she'd heard Oberon's words enough to actually listen to them over the lingering din of the words spoken by the Senshi of Sand she would have been filled with pride. He spoke with a youthful passion; the voice of a generation who'd grown while learning to support each other. How different would things have been if the early Senshi had only been offered support instead of suffering?

A chill raced through her and for a brief moment Corvus thought it nothing more than despair settling in. Castor's thundering voice drew her out of her head and back to the present where she was left staring up to the Prince of Hail as marbles of ice started to fall from the sky. She could only hear so much of what he was saying -- not because she did not want to listen, but because the magic thrumming through her veins did not allow for a lack of response to being attacked. It called for fury. It called for battle. It called for vengeance.

Corvus managed a curt nod before Castor left, taking with him the lingering chill as the hail vanished too. His departure took some of the rage away, but she was still completely overwhelmed and utterly exhausted. Arsinoe approached her, tone terse but not aggressive. She could hear the worry beneath the anger, the concern beneath the frustration.

Quietly to her cousin, voice quavering with emotion barely kept in check, Corvus finally spoke. "I am going home. Arsinoe, Celsus, please... I just want to go home."

Transcended Knight Celsus of Chronos + Squire Emrys of Neptune + Wendell

He would have laughed if he was not so frustrated. If he was not so weary of all of this.

"Respect is earned, not given, nor demanded," said Celsus, both to Vulcan and to Castor. "I serve the Lady Chronos, and I serve Order. I do not feel it is necessary to be shuttered into a box where allegiance is both demanded and expected to a single individual when there is nothing to back it up, and no ground to stand on, because that would make us no better than the Negaverse. It is the reason why my Brigade is built upon a mutual trust and understanding with none of us lording over another. The more that someone begs absolute loyalty, the less inclined I am to give it. You are so blinded by your desire to be a martyr for the cause that you have forgotten what that cause is anymore.”

His gaze flickered towards Corvus, and there was something else in his eyes, something like hurt, but it disappeared a second later, replaced, as always, but a bone deep tiredness that this was how things always ended up when there were people like Castor involved. Self-righteous martyrs who believed themselves to be the center of the cause. Celsus had not agreed with Castor during their invasion into the Rift, and he did not agree now.

"Threatening us does no good either, for the record, and neither does bawling at us," Celsus called after him, but of course the prince had already gone in a flutter of flakes. It was to be expected. Celsus did not see how threatening his own kind - the ones he had just proclaimed so passionately (and loudly) to be fighting for had done any of them any good except to make the situation more tension filled than it already was. It was a hypocritical reaction at best, and Celsus had long since found it mostly to be just talk, rather than anything else.

What had he expected? He didn't know anymore.

He reached out a hand and lightly patted Valhalla's shoulder; a greeting and a reassurance, because regardless of the aggravation of the situation, he appreciated the man, even if he simultaneously worried for him. Celsus let his hand drop again; then gave a small nod towards Kairatos and Meteora; he knew only the former a small amount, the latter not at all, but both had seemed level-headed and both had voiced opinions he agreed with.

Oberon was given a briefly amused look; the kid was indeed both accurate and unflinching in his assessment of things, and he found it refreshing, especially from a younger generation. Celsus glanced over at his twin, reaching up a hand to absently stroke Eta on his shoulder, Wendell still giving Oberon a proud, fatherly sort of look; the kind of look that said he was pretty pleased to be bonded with the other senshi.

"You should tell Eurydike what has happened," he said, and Emrys gave a wordless nod, before hesitating.

"Will you be all right?"

Celsus nodded; Emrys took a breath, and then turned on his heel, gripping his staff and disappearing back into the crowds. Eta was still against his head; Celsus said quietly, "Everything is only a disaster because of certain...individuals."

His gaze moved to Corvus again, expression unreadable.

"Home, then," he said quietly.
