"I want to, if she'll let me," K admitted, something soft in his usual glass-sharp voice. "Haven't broached it with her yet." But he'd been thinking about it. Hell, he had been thinking about it since he'd brought her into the apartment he shared with Ellis. Everything was spoken into Banks's shoulders, his grip tightening now and again as he tried to focus.

"Enough about her," he mumbled, returning to kissing the exposed skin of the lawyer's neck. "Wanna focus on you."

Chapped lips brushed his jaw, then kissed the underside before he was sliding his hands down to lift the older man up and set him on the counter, staying in the cozy spot between the legs he was rubbing.

"Unless you wanna do something else..." He trailed off, forcing himself out of his aroused haze to make sure that things were kosher, so to speak.

"Father's day is coming up," he murmured idly, fingers still twisting in the old, worn out shirt, "Could always approach her then, add some extra sentimental value to the questi--oh!"

Once again, Robert Banks - or Robbie, as he seemed to have been now nicknamed - found himself with his feet off the ground thanks to Russian muscle that seemed to have no issue with plucking him up on a whim. Before he had time to pitch a fuss, however, his a** found itself being slid atop of his own counter space, adding a few inches to his height as the white haired youth stepped forward to keep him pinned in place.

If he hadn't been flustered before, he certainly was now.

Eyelashes fluttered as he felt lips ghost across his skin. They were there one second and gone the next, though the feeling lingered behind, forcing happy little sighs from his mouth as he inched forward onto the counter. Hands were idly rubbing his legs and making the grown man all-too aware of of what even simple touches were doing to him.

At the implication that they could be doing other things, legs moved out to wrap themselves around the waist that was snuggling its way both against the counter and his pelvis, a silent way for him to forbid the other from stepping away without permission. Hands moved to collect the face now inches shorter than his own, mouth greedily moving to make its own mark below the man's ear, staining the tan skin with a dark bruise before he murmured, "I could think of a few things... but none of them have anything to do with cooking lessons."

"M'not a sap like you," he chided, using his mouth to distract the lawyer from any more too mushy suggestions.

Kavinsky made no move to free himself from the vice of Banks's legs, his rubbing of the man's legs more insistent before they were slipping beneath the hem of his shirt and calloused hands were pushing it up and up until he could tug it off. To the floor it was discarded, the russian taking advantage to press his lips against each collarbone.

"You talk too much," he mumbled, having to stretch to close the space between their mouths for a kiss. Nothing else was said, because he was too busy making sure that Banks didn't have the breath to talk.

Considering that he thought their friendship, or whatever this was now, was over only twenty minutes ago, he thought things were turning out pretty well for both of them.

“Hey, ******** off, I was just saying tha--”

Kavinsky was a smart man when it came to distractions, his mouth proving more than enough to keep Banks’s attention for the time being. The grown man kissed back as if he were starving for affection, mimicking the Russian’s tendencies with his own. Every bite received a bite back, every stroke of his tongue retaliated with one in return. It was only as he felt his shirt being tugged up that he paused, pulling back to raise both arms in assistance.

The warm mouth found its way down to his naked chest and for the first time since high school gym class, Rob found himself insecure about his appearance. Just like when he was fifteen, he knew his weight was less than on par with what it should be for an average man of his height. He wasn't malnourished by any means but… well, he could certainly stand to gain some more weight.

Kavinsky didn't seem to mind, hands and lips busying themselves across his body. That knowledge helped ease the tension as he relaxed against the younger man, mouth eagerly accepting more affection as the Russian returned to kissing him.

He couldn't respond to the slight against him, not when the kisses refused to stop. Hands pushed him back when the lightheaded sensation began to set in, his head pulling away as he began to pant softly, face flushed.

“Mory isn't expecting you home anytime soon, right?”

The hope in his eyes was impossible to miss.

The break from kissing was a welcomed thing for his lungs, K resting his forehead against the crook of Banks's shoulder. "She knows where I am," he answered vaguely, hands sliding up the man's sides, fingers counting the ribs he could feel slightly beneath his skin. "Can't stay forever, but maybe a while."

Kavinsky wet his lips, silver eyes dark with how his pupils had been blown with want, yearning even. "We need to get your weight back." It was an offhanded comment, maybe because of his observation as his hands slid along the naked flesh of the man seated on the counter top.

Sleeping with too skinny dudes was fine, but he preferred his partners to have more meat on them than Banks currently had at the moment. Besides, he thought the lawyer needed a goal to work towards, to be better.

"Doesn't mean can't do other stuff though Robbie." Again he was kissing the naked skin.

Fingers pressing into his sides had his back arching in response, head lolling back as his eyes closed. It was soothing, in a way, up until the casual comment reached his ears, causing patches of pink to blossom across his cheeks and collarbone.

He was right, of course. His weight needed adjusting. And it wasn't as if Kavinsky had been cruel in his words, it was just an offhand mention as warm hands continued to blaze a path up his sides. The older man bit his bottom lip as he tilted his chin forward, resting his cheek against the side of the other man's head. It wasn't until Kavinsky’s other comment that his body completely stilled.

Wait. Other things? What did he mean by…

O-Oh.

Realization dawned on the lawyer’s expression as he finally connected the two comments together.

So he didn't want to…

Ah. Alright then.

Shoulders sagged as he held back the frown trying to reveal itself. Relief mingled with remorse, the nagging wonder of is this what rejection feels like? lingering in the back of his mind. Sure, he hadn't imagined himself making it this far with the Russian so it was probably ridiculous of him to think he'd have been equally attractive to younger eyes.

Glancing towards the neglected pan on the stove, he took a long inhale and put on the best nonchalant face he could muster. Pulling back, hands found their way onto stronger arms and squeezed them gently.

“So what you're saying is, we should probably work on dinner, then, before it gets cold?”

He felt the change in Banks's body language before he saw it and he pulled back, confusion already knitting his brows together.

"That's not what I said." His reply was curt, the hint of apprehensive and abrasiveness building back up. Chapped lips brushed against his jaw and then Kavinsky said, "Do you want me to stop?" His voice was low, husky and the way his hands kept sliding up and down it was pretty clear that he didn't want to.

There were crossed hairs, mixed signals, and finally Kavinsky stopped rubbing the older man's sides and let his hands rest on thighs instead. "We-- It'd be stupid to jump into it." He knew, from the way Banks talked and acted with him that he didn't know how to be with a guy and how long had it been since he'd been with a woman?

"Do you want me to stop?"

Hazel eyes were quick to cut back over to him.

"No."

The answer was blurted out before he could twist it, before he could make it smooth and suave and everything he wanted to be like and not the vulnerable, exposed man that currently sat half naked on the kitchen counter in front of a wary looking Russian teenager.

Christ, what the hell was he doing?

The warm rumble in his tone had gone cold, replaced with an abruptness that made the panic return to the pit of the lawyer's stomach. The feeling was gnawing and festering itself, trying to feed into the already rampant anxiety growing out of control over the situation.

"I-I mean, you're right." Hands moved to press on top of the younger man's, as if quietly trying to keep them from leaving as he spoke. "You're right."

His laugh was nervous and awkward, which was fine because it matched how he was currently behaving and he knew it. He was overthinking things. He was being ridiculous.

Surprise, surprise, nothing new.

"I don't know the first thing about..." His sentence trailed off, words stumbling as shoulders lifted in a helpless shrug, "... y-y'know, stuff and all. I got caught up in the moment. It's better to go slow, if you're willing to wait on me."

But would he be willing?

Direct honesty of this nature was hard for him. It was easier to guard emotions instead of feeling so exposed and open but Kavinsky demanded the truth and the best thing Rob - Robbie - could offer would be to cut through his verbal bullshit for at least a moment and talk to him directly. It was hard, it made him feel susceptible but he owed him at least that much, if not more.

Fingers threaded between fingers as he leaned forward to press his head against his companion's. Taking a deep breath, he murmured softly, "I don't know what I'm doing...but I want to figure it out. I want to figure it all out with you."

Banks's response to things only served to leave Kavinsky more confused that he'd been before until the lawyer took a breath and tried to be frank, regardless of how hard it was for him to spit it out. "I'm here, that should tell you enough."

He wasn't one to stick around for things he didn't deem worth it and he'd stuck around, a lot, for one Robert Banks. In the beginning it was money driven, definitely, but it was easy enough to see that even before this that it'd become more than that.

"Then stop thinking so much," his reply was gruff but there was an often unseen softness in the way he looked at the man who's legs he was standing between. He shifted, tilting his face to press lips against the edge of his mouth.

Noses rubbed together and he tugged Banks closer when he kissed him again. "Think less."

His head nodded weakly in return, eyes closing as he relaxed against the gentle affection being offered from the normally brutish man. It was easy for him to fall back into rhythm with Kavinsky's lips, letting the Russian take control as he began kissing him again.

When they finally broke free for another breath, the smile that curled across his mouth was genuine, if not a little sheepish.

"I'll work on getting better."

The lust was back in his voice, husky tone taking it down an entire pitch. It was hard not to push for more, especially with the ways his pupils had dilated, his lips had swollen and various other ways his body had physiologically responded. But K was right. This was going too fast and it would do him good to work on at least adding weight in the time being as they figured out... well, whatever it was that was developing between them.

"Promise."

It took an incredible amount of strength for him to finally nudge the younger man back, giving him enough space to slip his way down the side of the counter until bare feet found their way back to the cool kitchen tiles. Hands lingered in between the other's, squeezing gently before reluctantly releasing.

"We really should eat, though - can't promise I can behave myself if we keep that up for much longer."

The smile had transitioned into a full blown grin as he turned away, doing his best to focus on the abandoned meal they'd just spent the last hour trying to fix together. While he was far from actually being hungry, Banks knew that sitting on the counter any longer would probably result in him doing (or worse, saying) something even more stupid than he'd already done.

Plates were fetched before he glanced over his shoulder, eyebrows arching as he offered playfully, "Unless you had something else in mind for us to do before dinner?"

He allowed himself to be pushed back, hands falling to his sides and he focused on some part of the counter until he could make sure he was calm enough to not be driven by more primal instincts. More space was put between them to help him chill out.

"Food first, other things later," he answered, rubbing his face for a moment before he cast his gaze towards the stove. Eating was exactly on his list of things he wanted to be doing in that moment but it was what they needed to be doing.

What was the point in talking about Banks's weight if he prevented the man from eating? He crossed the space of the kitchen until he was at the table where he pulled out a chair and sat himself down in it. "C'mon Robbie, let's eat."

The comment of other things later was a promising answer, even if it meant being forced to shovel chicken down his gullet first to figure out what the Russian had meant by his words.

Bowls were retrieved from their place in the cabinet, spoonfuls of plov soon dolled out into them before they settled on top of the plates. Kavinsky's was twice as full as his own but it was a start in the right direction for himself.

Some food was better than no food, right?

By the time the food had been dished out, K had already taken his spot at the normally neglected dining room table. The nickname was called out again in the lawyer's direction, sending a warmth through Banks's belly that no chicken recipe - fantastic or not - could compete with.

Making his way towards the table, the plates were deposited before he promptly darted back into the kitchen, returning as he tugged his shirt back over his head once more. His face still looked weary, but there was an unmistakable grin as he took his place next to the other man at the table, making a point for his chair to scoot just a little bit closer to his.

It seemed that the two men might have several more lessons in their future together and as far as Robert Banks was concerned, he couldn't wait to get started.
