Vermina post 5

Mina gasped sharply as the revelations were spoken. The Alkidike were the targets? Her hands went to her chest, eyes flitting around quickly to each face surrounding her. Faces of loved ones, friends, acquaintances, strangers... but all bearing the mark of a history of Aisha's loving touch. That they should be singled out for.. sacrifices... She looked over at the heavy sigh of the hybrid, clutching her hands tighter. Aunt Pul was out of reach, so Mina unconsciously found herself scooting closer to the hybrid for whatever support she could gain.

Mnyiri ll 5

"Makes you wonder how many sacrifices they'll need. If we had some kind of clue we could count up the amount of missing sisters we have and have some kind of idea on when to expect them..." Because at this rate it was an inevitability. There was no way to stop them from taking what they needed, or at the very least, not one that the alkidike had been able to figure out.

"It's killing me. No one knows if they'll attack an hour from now or in three years. This is just like seeing the sword coming for your neck and being unable to stop it." At the very least Mnyiri could rest easy knowing the Dretch wouldn't be targeting her friends. There were many an earthling she'd yet to check on, simply because of the travel restrictions, and that worry had eaten at her.

Pyrrha ll 5

Pyrrha had to wonder if the Dretch were focusing specifically on Alkidike, or the Elarian as well. Though, she supposed they had to be, otherwise the summit wouldn't have been called. It was true that there were still a healthy amount of alk in Zinris, but not nearly so much as to drag them away from Yael if the elaria weren't involved. It may have been a little less concerning if it were just the alk, though; maybe then they would let Pyrrha go where she wanted without being trailed again.

Elders, Matrons, Mystics and warriors....yet no one had the slightest idea of how to keep the kidnappings at bay. So, if that were the case, how were they supposed to fight? She looked down to her feet, twisting the little mudsoaked digits round and round. If she were going to die she'd rather do it outside than indoors with all this tension...

Naqenni | 4

Naqenni rolled her shoulders, attempting to dispel the unasked for chill creeping under her skin as they delved deeper into the territory of their once-enemy. The shadows seemed to encroach in upon them as they went, and the hut that they stepped into gave her a pressing sense of entrapment—particularly as it filled all around them, sisters and cousins pouring in until the space was full.

Despite every urge to shift her weight, the anxious energy in her making her muscles restless, she held still, attention on the Matron and whoever it was leading other side. ‘Eshe.’ A grimace pulled at her lips, but she kept that schooled too, face neutral, if clearly not pleased.

These Dretch are taking Alkidike women for sacrifices…and when they have enough they will invade the rest of Tendaji…

Naqenni’s eyes narrowed.

Why, echoed sharp through her mind, followed by the question: if this had happened before, what was done last time? Who had learned of it? How had anyone survived to pass the tale on? And when. And why had this not been shared with anyone sooner.

Perhaps because it all sounded like a ridiculous tale still, even with the Dretch at their heels. If they had stopped taking earthlings, however, that alone was reason for additional caution. Perhaps earthlings were simply too weak and small to be useful for whatever the Dretch needed. But the question remained, how were they to be fought.

“If this has occurred before, how were they destroyed the last time…”

Rishima Post 5

Rishima glanced over at the younger sister that scooted closer to him, wanting to reassure her, but he found that it wasn't something that he could do. As dangerous as things sounded at the moment he didn't think that it would be prudent of him to tell her that it would all be alright. If anything it just felt like what they needed to do was start formulating a plan. He had been on the verge of giving up fighting altogether but now he found himself thinking on this through the eyes of a warrior once more.

Leaning against the decorative walking stick he carried he gave a thoughtful sound, letting his mismatched eyes close, listening to those around him. The news was terrifying but maybe it would be the catalyst needed to get the two tribes to work together. At least until the Dretch had been dealt with that was.

Zigaran Post 6

Zigaran's antennae and fin ears gave a twitch at Mnyiri's comment about wondering how many sacrifices were needed. He crossed his arms over his chest and tilted his head to one side, "That might be hard to figure though. Some sisters might just be traveling, some to distant lands. It could be difficult to figure out who is missing and who is just out without somehow calling everyone home. If that is even possible."

Turning to look over at Mnyiri for a moment he watched her closely, he pushed himself up to his full height, "Surely those in charge must know what we are doing next." But did they have time for whatever they wanted to do? Just as Mnyiri said there was no way of knowing when the Dretch were going to invade. They didn't know how many sisters were needed, how many were missing, how to track the Dretch, or when they were going to attack next. Just as one of the pick women called out they didn't even know how the Dretch had been defeated in the stories that had been mentioned.

"With all we don't know it worries me that what we do know won't measure up." He muttered, half to himself and half to the white haired sister next to him.

Namira post 2

It had been too long since she had last seen the village. It was larger than she remembered it. Being in the presence of so many mainland alkidike clearly bothered the elaria. She followed the others who had noticeably crowded closer to each other as they made their way to the elder's hall.
Namira appeared proud as ever and seemed to be more at ease than the others. She did not fear an attack from the Alkidike, she knew they were weak-willed. Not that the alk couldnt slaughter all of them here in the now crowded hall, she just knew they wouldn't. The mystics were gathered, it had everyone on edge but it should also give them a reassurance of peace. Naq still looked obviously irritated but she couldn't think of an appropriate way to reassure her that they weren't walking into a trap. She resigned to standing behind her on their side of the crowded hall.

She still was unsure how to feel about the dretch threat. Sure they were a threat but she didn't quite understand the urgency of the meeting. Why had they not resigned to the island and fortified their forces? If there was any hope of eradicating these creatures they would need to know their base of operations. She hoped to high Elzira that someone knew where to find them because she wasn't going to volunteer to go poking behind every tree in the countryside. If it were up to her she would ship all the alk to chibale and cleanse the forests with fire, or let the earthlings sort it out. There must be more to it than that, she did her best to wait and listen patiently as she shot death glares at all the filthy hybrids across the room. She was surprised those sick things were even allowed in the hall, it was just another sign of how far the alkidike have fallen.

Danika - 4

Was there any evidence in the stories about destroying the Dretch?

The question was whispered throughout the crowd, many in disbelief that such creatures could easily be slain while the rest were angered because they wanted to know exactly how to slay these creatures. Danika herself was loathe to admit that she was uncertain of what the elders or even her mentor planned on doing to deal with the Dretch. So quietly she stayed by Eshe's side, her fingers clenching into tight fists as she caught snippets of commentary from the crowd. But as the questions continued to rise she couldn't resist turning her concerned gaze towards Eshe, "Is there anything...from these stories that could help us?" She asked softly, her antenna drawn in concentration as she searched her mentor's expression for any sign.

But all she received was a subtle shake of the head, a motion to silence Danika's question for now. Danika could only take a deep breath, straighten her shoulders, and glance boldly over the crowd. It was not a time for uncertainty, fear could not rule them nor should hatred. That was the purpose of this meeting, no? To pull together the scattered Sisters and to fight together for their futures....despite their previous disagreements. As she studied the crowd Danika realized that to form some truce would be a feat in itself, something almost as seemingly impossible as finding a way to defeat these Dretch.

Ceylinae Post 5

Sacrifices? That was what the Alkidike were being made into? Giving a grumbling sound she muttered, "What of the others that were taken? Were they sacrificed as well and just found unworthy?" A shame, it would have been nice if it were the Earthlings that had been found useful to the Dretch she thought to herself, nose wrinkling a bit. While she didn't much cared for what happened to the Alkidike of this land she did care about some of those from Yael. They couldn't just let them get taken and sacrificed by the Dretch, especially if it was helping them to invade the world. As though they could let such disgusting beings rule.

Hearing her sister Naqenni mention them being defeated in the past she couldn't help but to wonder if that meant that these elders knew the key to killing the bugs. If so she hoped that the information was given over soon so that they could get to work killing the things off so they could then get home.

|| Alkidike/Elaria IC ||

The feeling in the room was irritation, anger, and even disdain for some. It would figure that the Elaria would be opposed to their mystic, and the Elaria felt the same about the Alkidike. They knew that it was silly of them to think that they could come together and reach peace. But the situation was dire, they needed resolution if they were to get anything done today and in their future with the dretch.

As the Sisters shifted, many frustrated with the current situation and others voicing concerns over the Dretch and how to defeat them, Eshe found herself finally speaking up, “It is true that many of us, myself included, had thought of the Dretch as nothing more than stories to keep a young bloom in their beds at night.” She glanced towards the Matron who scoffed at her before continuing, “For those who had believed in them they thought the threat gone-”

“Perhaps they are agreeing that the Alkidikes have gotten too weak.” Retorted the Matron, her gaze narrowed in anger, “This may be the world’s way of eradicating those who have stumbled from their true paths as warriors.” Others stirred in the crowd behind her, it was obvious that there was some agreement as many Extremists still scorned their weaker Sisters for their previous decisions to defend the earthling scum and worse to even dare love and breed with some of them, “Aisha was defiled by earthlings who you allowed to ask for a bloom with Sisters foolish enough to love them.” She hissed between clenched teeth as she took a step forward.

“Sister, peace.” Eshe replied boldly as she strode towards the Matron, “Did you not come here out of necessity as well? Would you dare to dishonor the memories of those taken? Did you not lose some in your own ranks? Why ignore such facts to promote such foolishness?” As the Matron turned her heated gaze away Eshe took care to calm her voice as she looked over the crowds, “Because we always thought of the Dretch as stories none took care to actually study the creatures, but perhaps now we can take time to review the legends to see what we can find in our histories to fight these Dretch. To do so, however, means that we would have to come together despite our past….and current disagreements.” That stated she simply waited to see how the others would react to such a suggestion. Could they truly find some way to work side by side again despite the lingering hatred of the past?

Danika - 5

As Danika glanced to her mentor she decided it was time to step forward. If not now then when could she take Eshe’s side? A breath escaped her lips, the air of nervousness escaping her lungs as she braced herself, “I agree with Eshe. If the Dretch were so undefeatable would we be standing here today?” She asked, her voice quietly raising as she stared out across the sea of Sisters and Elarians, “I mean we have stories of the creatures so it’s not like our Ancestors didn’t deal with the foul creatures, right? So maybe there is something in our stories, in the legends long ignored that can help us to defeat these creatures.”

She held out her hands pleadingly, “Think of those that we have lost, would they wish to see us wasting time fighting each other instead of finding a way to save who remains?” Danika forced a small smile, “As it is I would not wish to lose any other Sister, regardless of what we do or do not agree upon, and I would hope that you all think the same. If we don’t work towards this then surely the Dretch will win and nothing will be left to bicker over period.”

Naqenni | 5

Perhaps they are agreeing that the Alkidikes have gotten too weak.

Naqenni blinked in surprise, her gaze immediately snapping to their Matron. After all she had done so far — dragged them to this point, had them grovel, risked everything — she had developed a distinctly foul taste for the woman, doubting that she had any spine or wit left in her. But for just a moment at those words, she considered that she might not have been so far gone as she’d thought. Perhaps there was some fight left in her-

But why wait until now to show it?

She shook her head stiffly, grimacing outright when the other elder began to speak. Blather. Her lips curled back. And then, just when she had thought she was done — a younger girl of the alkidike breed, with faded markings much like Nivalis’ and done up enough to be recognizable as their mystic, spoke as well.

And said the exact. Same. Thing as her ‘Eshe’.

“Do you not have a single original thought in your head? We heard it when your matron spoke it the first time,” Naqenni snapped loudly, quite without thinking about it. The instant after she said it, she realized with force that it probably wasn’t considered her place—but damn her ‘place’ at this point. “If you have information that could aid us in fighting them, speak more of that. Not of simpering over ideals of peace and remembering our lost. Our lost are dead. Let us do something for those who are not yet. None of us want to lose more of our number, and all of us are capable warriors, but we did not come all this way to grovel and listen to useless chatter…and I did not come to make allegiances. But I would raise my bow to fight them if we knew how. I am sure many of my sisters would do the same.”

Pruu post 6

"We left our home to come all this way for answers, and this is what we get?" Pruu grumbled sharply to herself, hands clenched tight. Naq's words only fired her up further, and her voice rose a little more to speak out. "We still have sisters and cousins back home. Do you wish us to stay here and "research" while our home stands with lowered defenses? Do not think for a moment that you will be keeping us here to guard your Aisha for you while our family lies without full ranks on Yael!"

Vermina post 6

Mina licked her lips as the heat in the room grew. Voices rising and falling and rising again, looks that could have killed if they were given solid form, those Elarians and extremists completely missing the point, yelling at their mystics... Her breath was coming shorter. So much chaos and disarray... Vermina wanted nothing but peace... There was no sign of her mother... The hybrid seemed calm enough... Dropping to her knees, she put both hands over her chest and made a silent plea to Aisha. She and others had already gone through many scrolls and books in the urge to find answers, and to no avail. Maybe fresh eyes would actually make a difference?

Rishima Post 6

Rishima found himself wondering about what Eshe was saying, not that he didn't believe her but there must be some among the elders that were aware of the Dretch being more then stories. They had to or else he wouldn't have been sent out on a mission to find someone they had suspected had been accosted by the Dretch. Wait, did that mean that they bad been taking people away as far back as all of that to be sacrifices? Or did they just suspected that was who had taken that woman. He never had found her after all so it was hard to say.

Dragged from his thoughts as the Matron of the other group started to hurl insults the way of those who served Aisha, calling them 'weak' he couldn't help but to roll his mismatched eyes, "That same old argument but who is here asking for aid from Aisha's children, Matron? Do you hope that your poison words will cause more of ours sisters to follow you? Haven't you taken enough?" The woman had taken Aselia away from Aisha, away from those that care about her, and for that Rishima would never forgive her no matter what might happen. He would have said more, especially to the children that were hurling their angry words at the young mystic when the one next to him suddenly collapsed.

"Ah! Sister?" Taking a knee he reached out, resting his free hand on her shoulder, "Are you alright, Sister?"
