Gabriel

Gabriel almost asked back where before bits and pieces came floating back to him. He remembered the explosion, Lotor bleeding and unconscious below him… he remembered the gurney… pain… some other stuff that made no sense at all. He shook his head, again trying to clear the haze, but it wasn’t working. It seemed Lotor had saved them, at the cost of his own safety. Though he could yell at the alien for his reckless behavior later… blue blood still spilled from Lotor’s wounds. He pressed his hand firmly against one of the wounds, applying pressure as he looked for a cloth or something to better cover the wound. That’s when he felt it… it was mixed in with the haze he was already feeling, but distinct. He gasped softly as he felt something warm enter his body, spread up his arm, and to his chest, then down his other arm. He almost pulled away from Lotor at the sensation, but didn’t, couldn’t. He was frozen in place. His brain tried to work through the haze, but it was slow.

Gabriel looked up when Lotor spoke, he looked, surprised… almost scared. What was going on? Gabriel felt his heart race a bit, and in between the haze and the warmth, he felt a distance panic… almost like it wasn’t himself panicking. He couldn’t explain the feeling. Gabriel looked down at Lotor’s wrist when they gaze broke and crisp black lines appeared on his skin. It didn’t seem to hurt Lotor, but how did the male suddenly get a tattoo? That’s when he felt a burning sensation on his wrist. He hissed softly, hating how the pain affects of the drug were still lingering and lifted his hand to examine the burn. But it wasn’t a burn… crisp black lines appeared on his skin. Gabriel’s heart started to race as confusion took over. Looking back at Lotor’s wrist, he realized it was matching his mark. “Lotor-“ he breathed “What did you do?” he spoke at the same time at Lotor did. He frowned at the words. “What?” he shook his head and looked down at his wrist. “What is this?” he rubbed the mark against his pant leg, seeing if it would rub off. It didn’t! “What the hell is this?” He held his wrist up to Lotor, a flare of anger lashed out, covering the confusion and fear he was also feeling.

User ImageLotor took a step back, feeling anger race through him. He lifted his hands and took another step back, "I-I don't know. We, our blood-" he shook his head and ran a hand through his hair. "It shouldn't be possible. You're human!" He looked at his wrist. "Something is wrong. I need to research, need to figure out what happened. How to reverse this-" he looked at Gabe, pain filling his heart at the thought of breaking the bond. It was something his people dreamed of, something to be cherished. But with how Gabriel was reaction, the human wanted nothing to do with this or Lotor. "I'm sorry. You-you need rest." He hesitated a moment before spraying Gabriel with his go to knock out spray. He caught the man as he fell asleep and quickly took him back home. Lotor needed to figure out how to break the bond and free Gabriel from himself. He hesitated for a second when he'd placed Gabe on his bed, wanting to stay and care for him, but none of his wounds were life threatening. Instead he called the police and used a fake voice to tell them that he just saw his neighbor stumble into his house covered in blood and he thought the officer needed help. He left the front door open and staid hidden until he was sure that the ambulance and Gabriel's fellow officers arrived before he returned to his lair. He did a quick, rough patchwork of his own wounds and set to work, looking for a way to reverse this. He pushed down his emotions, forcing himself to block them off, not wanting to strengthen in any way. "Don't worry, Gabe," he whispered to himself as he set to work, "I'll fix this."

Gabriel

Gabriel almost whined when Lotor pulled away from him. The reaction surprised Gabriel the most… was he complaining because Lotor shouldn’t move while bleeding? Or because he could no longer touch the male? Lotor’s voice sounded so unsure and Gabe felt a very distinct wave of panic hit him. He blinked for a moment, his head dizzy with the sudden feedback. Gabriel grabbed his wrist as a different wave of pain rocked him. His breath caught and his head spun. “Lotor… wait…” he reached out to the male, trying to find something solid as his world spun. But by then, he was out cold from the knock out gas.

Gabe woke up in a hospital. He panicked at first, forcing a nurse to push him down and restrain him until he realized he was in a real hospital… not that horrible place he was in last night. His room was guarded by police, and doctors were nervously relaying information to the nurses as Gabriel calmed down and relaxed against the bed. Once he had calmed down, he couldn’t help but feel empty, and cold. Maybe it was just this room… and the IV in his arm. The doctors started asking him questions and distracted him from the emptiness he was feeling. They wanted to know what had happened, as well as the police office her was in charge of this case. But first, Gabriel wanted to know how he got here… last thing he remembered was… he quickly looked down at his wrist and found the mark was still there. So he hadn’t dreamed that part.

The next couple of hours were agonizing. Retelling as much of the story as he could, while leaving out Lotor almost entirely. He didn’t want anyone to turn things around and try to blame Lotor for any of this. He told the cops that he was doing a patrol of one of the companies suspected locations. He got caught. They drugged him, tortured him, which explained the wounds and drugs on his blood panel. He then skipped ahead a lot and said the next thing he remembered was waking up in the hospital. He completely left out Lotor’s involvement, the rescue, the antidote, the mating… he frowned again down at his wrist. He hated lying to his fellow officers, but he didn’t hesitate when it came to matters regarding Lotor.

It took almost a day to get the police to leave with Gabe’s version of the events. He had learned of the explosion, and the first responders had found documentation that tied the company to their illegal actions. Gabe was removed from the case, too close now that the company had attacked him directly. But at least the case was actually in the light now. The doctors wanted to keep him over night to monitor the drugs in his system… that request however extended for more than a week. Apparently his brain chemistry and neutral pathways were showing unusual signs of… something… the doctors called it damage, but it wasn’t hurting or impeding on Gabriel’s motor or mental functions, which confused them immensely.

After about the tenth day of sitting in that bed, unable to make the cold empty feeling go away, he had had it. He was tired of the white walls and beeping monitors. He unplugged himself, dressed in the change of clothes one of the officers had brought him from his apartment and snuck out of the hospital. He was out before anyone even noticed. He started to walk home, lost in his thoughts. So Lotor really would stop kidnapping him if he stopped pursuing the company… he looked down at the mark on his wrist and felt saddened, tears pricked at his eyes at the thought that Lotor didn’t want him anymore… hadn’t he just joked about courting him? Maybe that was all it was… a joke.

He just walked, and walked, and walked… and eventually he came to a district he wasn’t familiar with. Where was he? Why had he walked here? His apartment was in the other direction… He followed down the street, unable to convince himself to leave… he read the street names as he passed them until one seemed familiar. He felt the urge to turn right, and he did. He wasn’t sure why he did, but he followed his instinct.

User ImageTen days of hell. Ten days of testing, failing and pushing himself harder, further. He hadn't slept, sleep was a waste of precious time. He barely ate, only grabbing something when he began to get too dizzy to stand. He'd pulled on his usual outfit to cover his wounds and for the healing factors he'd built into it. his wounds still hurt, but they were mostly closed now. They weren't bad, he could handle pain. What he couldn't handle was the hallucinations. Gabe would appear in the doorway. Sometimes he just stood and stared at him. Sometimes he would yell. Lotor didn't know what was worse. He finally had come up with a solution that would work. It had to work. If it didn't, well, Lotor had a backup. The solution was made of this that were poisonous to him. He was going to inject it into the location of the mark. His theory was that it would eat away at the nerves of that hand and cut off the mark's connection to the rest of him. If he was lucky, he'd lose his hand. If not, he'd lose his life. Either way, he was going to free Gabe. Lotor looked around his lab, the place utter chaos from these last ten days. He hadn't seen the sun in all that time, even longer considering the time he'd spent with Gabe in their hideout. Five more minutes. He could wait five more minutes. Lotor pushed himself away from the table and walked out of his lair in a daze. He stepped outside into the sunlight and closed his eyes, turning his face upward to enjoy the light. He thought he heard something to his right and sighed.

"You're back," he turned his head and gazed tiredly at the hallucination. "I've got the solution, it should work this time." He smiled a little, "The real you is going to be free soon." He stepped into his lair, expecting the hallucination to follow. He lead the way to his lab and held up the solution. "I told you it's going to be ok, and it will. He turned and looked at Gabe, "Guess this is goodbye." He felt tears in his eyes, even though he knew that it was just a hallucination, it still felt real. "it's been fun, Gabriel. I'll miss you." The tears fell and he closed his eyes, "Please forgive me for everything."

Gabriel

Gabriel continued to walk until he heard the click of a door. He paused and listened, hearing the door shut. The streets here had been completely quiet. He followed the noise and froze when he saw Lotor, face tilted up towards the sky. He looked horrible! He looked like how Gabriel felt. His skin was pale, there were dark circles around his eyes, and he wasn’t holding himself as tall as he normally did. Were his wounds still bothering him?

Even though Lotor looked to be in horrible shape, Gabriel felt so happy to see him. He could cry. He shook his head softly and took a few steps closer. Lotor heard him and sighed, turning to look at him and the look froze Gabriel in his spot. His eyes were so cold, his voice didn’t hold any life in it… he sounded like death… Gabriel frowned when Lotor mentioned a solution. A solution to… Gabriel looked down at his wrist. He didn’t even know what his was… Lotor hadn’t really explained, and Gabriel had been too messed up and exhausted to react properly. Gabriel looked back at Lotor and frowned. ‘Real me?’ what was he talking about? Gabriel opened his mouth to speak, but Lotor was retreating back into the building. Gabriel quickly followed after, in case the door locked behind him. “Lotor…” he tried to get the male’s attention, but it wasn’t working.

Gabriel got annoyed when Lotor continued to ignore him. Lotor walked over to a syringe and held it up. Gabriel looked at it and shivered at the sight of another needle filled with an unknown substance. He took a few steps closer to Lotor, and Lotor was finally looking at him. He smiled, but that smile faltered when he saw, then felt the immense sadness. And the intensity of the feeling only got stronger as he got closer to Lotor. Why was he feeling sad? He was happy to be with Lotor… was he was one sad? Wait, why was Lotor saying good bye? Where was he going? Gabriel looked at the syringe again, watching it as he approached Lotor’s wrist. Panic spiked in him and he quickly closed the gap between them, covering Lotor’s wrist with one hand and the other tried to pry the syringe out of his hand. “No! What are you doing?” he scratched at Lotor’s hand.

Somehow he managed to pull the syringe out of Lotor’s hand. He wasn’t sure if it was shock, general weakness from not taking care of himself, or what but Gabriel held the syringe far out of reach and took a step back. “What is this?” he gestured to the syringe, having the sudden urge to drop it against the wall and ruin it. “What is going on?” his voice broke as a tidal wave of sadness hit him. Being closer to Lotor was like breathing and drowning at the same time. He wanted to be close to him, curled in his arms… but he also felt like he couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think straight, couldn’t tell what he was actually feeling. He took a half step closer, holding the hand with the syringe out stretched away from Lotor, but he had to… he grabbed Lotor’s hand, pressed his skin against the other’s and he released a shaky breath. He looked up at Lotor and shook his head. “This is why I need a culture reference book.” He said softly, his voice breath like it took a lot of effort to speak, but it was his true self showing through all the feedback.

User ImageLotor stared in shock when his wrist was grabbed. The hallucination had gone even further than ever before. No, hallucinations couldn't touch you. He stared at Gabriel, "It's-it's you." He blinked a few times, wondering if the man would really disappear, but instead he came closer and grabbed Lotor's hand. It broke his will and he crumbled to the ground, kneeling in from of Gabe while clinging to his hand like a life line. "It's you. You're here, you're here." What Gabe had been saying finally registered and Lotor's eyes locked on the syringe. You're a human, you weren't made for the mating bond. I didn't want it to hurt you, so i've been trying to find ways to break it." he was too tired to do anything but tell the complete truth. "That syringe is filled with my latest solution. It should cut off the nerve endings of my hand and cut the connection between the mark and my heart, severing our bond...at least in theory it would." He swallowed hard, "Even if it failed, you'd be free of me. I'm so sorry, Gabe. I didn't mean to bind you to me like this. Give me the syringe and I'll make it right. You can go back to fighting bad guys and I-" will be dead, his mind supplied, "I will go back to being an annoyance. I would never force you to live with being bound to someone like me." He couldn't bring himself to let go of Gabe's hand, so he reached out his other for the syringe. At least he got to see the real Gabriel one last time.

Gabriel

Gods… that tidal wave of sadness nearly knocked him over. But Gabriel fought it with his own anger. “Yes, It’s me… the one you have been ignoring!” he tightened his grip on Gabriel’s hand as Lotor crumbled to his knees. He took another half step closer and gave Lotor something to lean into, his leg and hip. He was afraid Lotor was going to pass out. Gabriel felt so tired, but he had been resting in that damn hospital for over a weak… he wasn’t tired. “Lotor…” he fought against the feedback, drowning. Gabriel started to explain, but he was talking too fast. Mating bond? What was that? The tattoos? What was it doing to him? To them? Gabriel looked at the syringe when Lotor mentioned it, but his gaze returned to Lotor appalled. “In theory? Injection yourself with poison over a theory?” he let his anger flare out. He could breathe a moment. “You mean you’d been free of me!” he yelled, pulling away until almost out of reach, but he still couldn’t get himself to let go of Lotor.

“You’d rather be dead that have a mating bond with me!” he was still yelling, still holding the syringe out of reach. He looked at the syringe again fuming, it was better than sadness. He pulled his hand away from Lotor, which in itself was painful and threw the syringe as hard as he could. The glass syringe broke against the wall. “If you want to kill yourself that bad, you’ll have to wait. I have questions and you will answer them.” He stormed back over to Lotor, leaning down to wrap Lotor’s arm over his shoulder. “But first, you are gonna sleeping.” He forced the male to his feet, which was a bit hard since Lotor was so much larger than him. “Which way to your room?” he said, huffed but still angry.

Gabriel took Lotor’s directions, leaving very little room for the male to argue. Once in his room, He moved and sat Lotor on the bed. “Did you treat your wounds properly?” he asked, forcing the male to lay down. Lotor had been bleeding so much the last time he saw him. He remained sitting on the bed, his hand on Lotor’s chest, just waiting to push Lotor back to the bed if he tried to get up. “Sleep. I’m not going anywhere.” He frowned softly. He was tired too… he kicked off his shoes and curled into Lotor’s side. His anger was subsiding and his head was starting to hurt again with the emotions he couldn’t explain. He wrapped his arms around Lotor, pulling him in close, tears threatened to fall.

User ImageLotor felt the anger rushing over him and flinched. It wasn't his, he could tell. Gabe was yelling at him and he shook his head, "No. No! I would never, I-you're human. You aren't made for," but Gabe wasn't listening. He stood with the human's help and told him how to get to his room. He looked to where the syringe had been smashed and then gave Gabe directions to his room. He was laid down, Gabe's hand on his chest to keep him down. "I treated them," he said softly, just watching the human in awe. Gabe kicked off his shoes and got into bed with him, his arms wrapping around Lotor. Lotor turned and buried his face in Gabe's neck as he held him back. "I'm sorry." He felt tears filling his eyes and falling. "I didn't think you would want to be bound to me. I know you can feel my emotions. Can feel me, who knows what neurological changes the mark has caused. My people are made for it, but not yours. And you were in the hospital for so long. It was all my fault." He moved as close as he could and felt so much better. Just being near Gabe was enough to sooth him. He pulled away long enough to strip his shirt and then opened Gabe's and hugged him once more, skin to skin.

Lotor shivered as the bond warmed what had been cold for the past ten days. He closed his eyes and rested his head against Gabe's chest, listening to his heart, "Can we talk when I wake up? Sorry. Just....tired..." he dropped off into sleep as he spoke, the relief of being with his mate making it impossible to fight the exhaustion.

Gabriel

Gabriel shut his eyes tight, not wanting to cry. But he was hard not to. “I don’t even understand what is going on Tori… you need to explain before you go making decisions on your own.” He said softly, his voice sounding broken. “I was stuck in the hospital because the stupid doctors wouldn’t let me go… they kept monitoring my head… but there’s nothing wrong with me.” He sighed softly, holding Lotor firmly in place. He whined when Lotor pulled away, but when he saw why, Gabriel was quick to remove his own shirt too so they could touch skin to skin. He was already starting to feel better… calmer. The cold empty feeling was filling and warming. Gabriel buried his hand into Lotor’s hair, pressing his face to the top of the male’s head. He closed his eyes, and sighed softly. The sadness was fading, and he was left in a happy glow. He could breath. His other hand trailed fingertips along Lotor’s side, down towards his spine, and back. “Yes, sleep now.” He kissed Lotor’s head softly. He felt both physically and emotionally when Lotor passed out. He tried to fight the tiredness, so he could stay up and think some more. But it was useless. He was sleeping in minutes.

Gabriel woke first. He could feel Lotor’s chest against his back. They were spooning. One arm was wrapped around his middle, keeping him flushed against Lotor, the other acted at his pillow. Following the line of Lotor’s arm, Gabriel found their mating mark. He carefully reached out and traced the pattern with his finger. Once traced, he rubbed his finger over the patch of skin, feeling how it was slightly raised against Lotor’s skin. He had so many questions… What was this, in detail? How did it happen? How could it happen? What was it doing to him? Lotor said he knew Gabe could feel his emotions, feel him… was that what he had been feeling? Lotor’s emotions? He closed his eyes for a moment and looked inside himself. And in the calm, he could tell he wasn’t alone in his own head anymore. But that didn’t worry him… it was calming actually… he opened his eyes again and rubbed Lotor’s mark again. “You have a lot of explaining to do…” he whispered.

User ImageLotor woke when Gabe was touching the mark. He kept still and quiet until the man spoke. "i know I do." He pulled Gabe closer and buried his face in his hair as he thought about how to word something so instinctual in a language not built for it. "We call it a...soul bond. When two souls are compatible they are drawn to one another. It doesn't mean they are mates, though. You could be compatible with several souls. Sharing scent, or sex as you call it, is a sign of companionship and trust. It's how our people show we are part of a group, sharing scent and space." He shrugged, "it makes more sense when you are on such a harsh world. it's kind of like forming your own family." He was getting side tracked, "anyways. Only two souls that are compatible can form a soul bond. And only have their have shed blood for one another and their blood mixes. Normally it's not in the way we did. There is a ceremony when two people want to bond. They each cut their palms and press them together, forming the bond."

He sighed and reached for Gabe's left hand, carefully touching the mark on his wrist. "The mark appears, each unique to the two forming the bond. The bond is more than just matching marks. It's a combining of the souls?" that was the best way he could describe it. "We can feel each other, sense each other's emotions. At first the bond is strong, but we'll get used to it and being able to tune each other out. Well, at least if we keep the bond we would." He dropped Gabe's hand. "It's natural for my people, but it's not something a human should even be able to do. I don't understand what happened."

Gabriel

Gabriel wasn’t surprised when Lotor spoke. Almost like he knew Lotor was already awake… no felt… he felt it… Gabriel closed his eyes for a moment, his fingers still tracing the mark on Lotor’s wrist as the male snuggled in closer to him. He sighed softly as his other hand rested against their bodies. He remained mostly silent as Lotor started to speak, started to explain. Soul bonds didn’t make them mates, but sharing sent didn’t always lead to a soul bond? Gabe tried to interject before Lotor could go further. “Can you only be soul bonded to one person at a time?” he paused for a moment. “And is it possible to mix blood and a soul bond doesn’t appear?” He added. If soul bonds could form so easily, and you could only have one, then that didn’t seem very practical to Gabriel… it was confusing… Unless of course, Lotor’s people were very careful around each other… he did say they normally have a ceremony… a ceremony… “Wait, so you’re telling me, we just got married?” he asked softly. He couldn’t help but feel a bit annoyed with that. He was just telling Lotor about how they should date first before courting, and they went ahead and skipped all of that and had a shotgun wedding in Vegas, while drunk… but he had to remind himself Lotor didn’t do this on purpose… he didn’t even know it could happen. His annoyance faded and he sighed softly.

Eyes shifted when Lotor grabbed his hand, rotating his wrist so that his own mark faced up. Delicately Lotor touched the mark, similarly to how Gabriel was still touching his. A connecting of souls… it actually sounded really romantic. And Gabriel was glad to hear that they would eventually learn to control it… because it hurt when Lotor was upset… maybe that was because he was human? Maybe it hurt him because his body wasn’t programmed to handle the feedback… did Lotor feel pain when Gabe got upset? Could he tell the difference from Gabe’s emotion and his own? Lotor dropped his hand and pulled Gabe back to the reality of their situation, suddenly feeling empty. His stomach sank as he pulled his hand into his chest. Of course, they weren’t going to keep the mark… why would Lotor want to be permanently bound someone like Gabe? He was a human after all, not to mention he had no idea how to control his emotions… he knew how not to show them, but he didn’t know how not to feel them… to Lotor it was probably like being attached to a live wire, a roller coaster of emotions just bombarding him into insanity. He’d rather die that deal with that. Dread filled his heart. “What happens to the mark if one of us dies?” he asked, trying to keep the worry and despair out of his voice and out of Lotor’s mind… but he had no idea what he was doing, or if it was working. Lotor didn’t immediately know of a way to remove the mark, which told Gabe that his people never tried to, once a bond was formed. So maybe it was more revered, something special you didn’t just share with anyone… and Gabriel had stolen that from Lotor… Sadness flickered in his heart at the thought.

Gabriel closed his eyes for a moment, focusing on his breathing to calm himself. He still had more questions… but he wouldn’t be able to answer them if he got too overwhelmed. “Have you ever been soul bonded before?” he asked softly. His fingers had stopped tracing the mark on Lotor’s wrist, too concentrated on making himself feel nothing to allow himself the simple pleasure. He opened his eyes again and stared blankly at the bed, waiting for a response. “What’s the difference between being soul bonded, and being mates?” he filled the empty space with more questions.

User ImageLotor nodded, "It is possible for two people to share blood without a soul bond forming. If they aren't compatible or if they have no connection or bond to the other, then nothing will happen. Occasionally there were be three or more people within a soul bond, but it is rare." He felt Gabe's annoyance when he asked if they had gotten 'married'. In human terms it was about as close as you could get to the soul bond. Though many marriages ended in divorce and that wasn't really an option once you were bonded. "I'm sorry, Gabe." He felt guilty all over again. If he'd just worn his armor. If he'd pulled Gabe's hand away before he touched him, this would have never happened. The sour twang of self doubt crossed his thoughts and Lotor frowned. Before he could ask, Gabe had another question.

"If one of the mates dies, the surviving mate's mark will fade to a lighter color than their skin. It kind of looks like a scar, though I don't know how yours would change. It's similiar to the scar on your heart after loosing a loved one. The bond severs, but for my people that is it. There is no other repercussions." That self doubt was back with a mix of sadness. Lotor frowned and pulled Gabe a little closer. The question surprised him. He felt pain as memories floated up into his consciousness. "No, I've never been soul bonded. I've had lovers before and one who-we were planning our ceremony when we were captured." he admitted softly, closing his eyes against the pain. "He was killed." He whispered the confession, his voice breaking a little. "The one who took us, he was insane. He wanted to hurt me, to break me, but when his torture failed to do so he took more drastic measured." Lotor took a deep breath and suppressed the memories. "The difference is the actual bond. Mates are compatible, they have a possibility of being bound, but they haven't done the ceremony yet."

He sighed and sat up a little, "I'm sure you are hungry. Let me get you something to eat and we can speak more. I-" it seemed impossible, but Gabe's self doubt was bothering him. "We can discuss what our next steps are. Whether we should try to remove the bond or-or if we should keep them?" He felt hopeful about that. Was it even possible for Gabe to want to keep the bond?

Gabriel

Okay, so soul bonds didn’t just occur with everyone… so it was Gabriel’s fault. Something about his… soul… made it possible… he couldn’t imagine having another set of emotions to deal with… besides the two he was dealing with now. His plate was full at it was… but if they couldn’t remove the marks, and Lotor found someone else? The thought was maddening. Polygamy was not something Gabriel ever thought he himself would be part of… but… he’d do it for Lotor… if it made him happy. Lotor’s guilt mixed with Gabriel’s making it hard for the human to tell the two emotional sources apart. He shook his head a bit though when Lotor spoke. He sighed softly, and continued to ask questions.

Gabriel didn’t really like the idea of one of them dying… but it seemed it was a painless process, besides the loss of someone you care about… but that reaction was for Lotor’s people… people who were designed to bond… would Gabe react differently if Lotor died? The doctors had said his neural pathways were changing… what if they changed so much that Gabriel couldn’t exist without Lotor? … It was starting to sound like Gabe should be the one to test Lotor’s experiment… at least they knew how Lotor would react if Gabe died… gods that was a depressing thought. Gabe held his wrist close to his heart, as if guarding it. He pulled his other arm in, slightly curling into himself.

In the back of his mind, he felt curious? Worried maybe? The feeling confused him… then it clicked. Maybe that was what Lotor was feeling? Why would he be feeling like that? Maybe Gabe wasn’t exactly closing his emotions off… he sighed softly. Obviously it would take Gabe more than a day to learn how to rein everything in. Lotor seemed to be good at it already… Gabe leaned back slightly when Lotor pulled him in closer and he actually caught himself attempting to smile. He turned his head away, but kept his body pressed in close to Lotor.

A small wave of sadness and pain washed over Gabriel at his next question and he immediately wished he could take it back. It was a sore subject... for Lotor. He knew this pain was coming from Lotor… there was no reason he would suddenly feel like this… Gabriel felt tears well in his eyes as he listened and felt Lotor’s pain. “I’m sorry.” He breathed, the tears falling as he took a shaky breath. Gabe closed his eyes and reached up to give Lotor’s arm a squeeze. He wanted to comfort Lotor… could he feel that? Was that considered a feeling? Gods… how had Lotor lived through his pain? And now… instead of being soul bound to his true love, he was bound to some human, light years away from home, on accident… this had to be some kind of insult to Lotor’s mate’s memory. “I’m so sorry Tori…” he lifted his hand to wipe away his tears.

It took Gabriel a few more moments to reign in his thoughts. Still buzzed from Lotor’s immense sadness, mixed with his own sadness and guilt, Gabe felt a bit dizzy. He moved slowly when Lotor sat up, sighed, the sat up too… they couldn’t lay in bed forever. He kicked his feet over the edge of the bed, separating further from Lotor than he wanted. He reached out and placed his hand on Lotor’s side to make up for the loss of contact, but he kept his gaze averted, focusing more on the floor. “When was the last time you ate something?” he asked. Based on how Lotor still looked, it had been a while since he had really eaten. The alien looked better with sleep, but his skin was still a bit pale. Gabriel looked down at Lotor, surprised when he suggested they keep the bond. Unintentionally, he pulled his mark to his chest again, almost like a child who was trying to keep their toy from being taken away. Did-did Lotor want to keep their mark? There was a resonance of hope echoing through Gabe’s skull, which made his head ache. “Is it possible to influence each other… to feel how we want each other to feel?” he asked, suddenly a bit worried. What if… what if Gabriel wanted something so bad that his feelings tricked Lotor into believing he wanted that same thing? Then… then it wasn’t real…it was a form of brain wash! He didn’t want to brain wash Lotor! He felt himself panicking. Maybe that wasn’t possible… maybe Lotor’s people could instinctually tell which emotions were whose. He shook his head and stood, wrapping his arms around himself. “I think I need food.” He said absently. He picked his shirt up from the floor and put it back on before he walked out of the room. But he froze at the door. “I don’t know my way around.” He said softly, realizing he didn’t know where he was. He guessed it was Lotor’s lair. But he had ever been here once or twice before. And he had been bound both times.

User ImageLotor shook his head, "I don't remember. I thought that my mark was killing you, so I was focused on breaking the bond." He was surprised by the question of influencing each other, "No, you can't override each other's feelings. If one is upset we can sort of 'send' comfort?" He knew that him speaking of his past had transferred his pain to Gabriel. The hand on his side disappeared and Lotor shivered in disappointment. He followed Gabe's example and dressed, "Yeah, I think I do too." Gabe stopped at the door and Lotor smiled at the look of confusion on his face. It was adorable. "This way," he said gently, placing his hand on Gabe's back as he lead the way to the kitchen. His lair was spacious, with several different rooms but he'd built it fairly open. He didn't like feeling trapped, so there were few walls. The only places walled in were his lab, the medical area and the bed and bath rooms.

He moved away from Gabe when they got to the kitchen and frowned at the ache he felt from the separation. Usually the newly bonded would spend a week or two together, practically in isolation, as they figured out their bonds and got used to the need to be touching at all times. The feeling faded, but they would always draw comfort from touch. With the two of them having been separated for the first ten days of their bond, that feeling would be increased.

"Steak?" He asked, pulling the meat out of his chill box. He'd made his own, human's refrigerators were inefficient. Food spoiled far too quickly in them, but his was air tight and would suck out the air when he closed the door, preserving his food for months longer than the humans'. "Can you make a salad?" He got out what was needed and pointed out where the knives and cutting boards were. He got the steaks on the grill built into his cook top after seasoning them, adding just a little more salt to Gabe's than his. While they were cooking, he got out juice and various other things for them to eat. When they were ready, he got out plates and served each of them their steaks. He got some of the salad and the various other things before pouring his home made vinaigrette onto the greens. When Gabe had his plate ready, Lotor got eating utensils and lead the way to the table.

"Hope you like it," he said softly as he sat at the table. There was space next to him and across from him where Gabe could sit and he hoped the man chose the one next to him, but he wasn't going to say or do anything to influence his choice.

Gabriel

Gabriel was relived when Lotor told him that their emotions would still be their own, uninfluenced by the other… so, had they both felt a bit hopeful about keeping their marks? Sighing softly, he waited at the doorway of Lotor’s room, looking out. He could see most of the layout from here, due to the lack of walls. Usually he was tied up in Lotor’s lab, or that one time in the medical room…he wondered where those rooms were from here. He could hear Lotor behind him getting dressed, walking towards him. He nodded as Lotor lead him to the kitchen. His arms were still wrapped around himself as he tried to force himself to relax.

Luckily making food with Lotor did that for him. He felt an uncomfortable loneliness when Lotor stopped touching him, but other than that, everything was calm. It was almost normal. He grabbed the items for a salad and began cutting on one of the offered cutting boards. The steaks smelled good as Lotor cooked them. After everything was washed and cut, Gabe tossed the items together to make sure they were well mixed. By then, the steaks were done and Lotor had set out a few other items to add to their plates. Gabe followed Lotor’s suit, making his plate” Steak, salad, sides, a glass of juice. He then headed to the table and didn’t hesitate to sit next to Lotor. He smiled softly at Lotor’s comment and took a bit, humming in glee. “Very good… you added more seasoning to mine, didn’t you?” he asked.

Gabe was happy to see Lotor eating a real meal. When Lotor had told him that he couldn’t remember the last time he ate, Gabe had been worried. Yes, maybe if the mark was killing him, he’d understand Lotor’s urgency but… “Why didn’t you try to visit me in the hospital?” he asked, looking down at his food. If Lotor had visited, he would have known Gabriel wasn’t dying… maybe he would have taken care of himself more… maybe he wouldn’t have attempted such drastic measures… “I bet you could hack into the hospital logs and check out my brain scans if you’re still worried… they had me in that stupid machine daily…” he said, shrugging. He felt fine when they were like this, calm and relaxed. Yes, it still hurt and gave him a headache whenever Lotor was particularly upset… But Lotor said that would lessen with time… maybe his human brain just needed more time to adapt? He hoped not too much longer, for Lotor’s sake… poor man was going to get emotional whiplash.

Gabe looked up at Lotor and pointed his fork at him. “You’re not allowed to use that can of knock out spray on me anymore.” He glared at the male, but it was obvious he wasn’t actually angry. “One minute I’m with you, who was bleeding and panicking… the next I was in a hospital that reminded me of that horrible torture room…” He shuddered at the memory. “It’s not a comfortable chain of events to bounce between.” He stabbed his salad with forced annoyance. He sighed softly, still looking down at his plate. “Tell me more about soul bonding… like how you lead up to it, the ceremony, what happens afterwards…” he said softly. He had always wanted to know more of Lotor’s culture. And now, he had a free pass! He should be happy… but that wave of self-doubt returned… he shouldn’t even be able to have this…let alone steal it…
