Amonee is advancing 8/11 advances 1/2 minibosses defeated
"Nucleo, I'm starting to freak out." Amonee confessed quietly to the other greenblood. He had a lot of experience with anxiety due to his obsession with needing others to like him. But this was a completely different breed. He wasn't sure he wanted to find more of these logs if they were going to contain stuff that could get them into major trouble. These were things that the military were going to want to keep hushed. Things they needed to tell Panili and her crew about.
Then again, they were probably partially things that the space crew already knew. Perhaps they ought to ask them some questions the next time they regrouped. He could only hope that Xavier and Eilidh had been spared seeing things of this nature. The two of them were so peaceful and compassionate that it could seriously upset them.
How badly he wished his moirail was here! Xavier never panicked, he was always calm. For now, he curled a hand into Nucleo's, taking comfort in the taller boy's presence. It wasn't the same but it did help. Xavier felt like sharing a blanket together under the winter moons. Nucleo was more like climbing a dangerous tall peak together but knowing he wouldn't let you fall.
Nucleo advances! Nucleo is using his clones! 4d6 hits with +1 to accuracy to each on this attack, 1x per battle. First two numbers are the 'hit or miss' determiners, second two are the damage done.
"It's okay Amonee. I'm here." Nucleo reached over and pat the jadeblood's back. He knew physical affection was comforting to the painter. The greenblood felt bad that the mood was so terrible on this mission but he couldn't blame any of them for feeling weird. Watching a slaughter wasn't easy. Glancing over at Elidae, the boy wondered what she was thinking.
He wanted to reach over and comfort her too but he also didn't want to overstep his bounds. She was clearly determined to do a good job as this was her mission to lead and he didn't want to seem like he wasn't respecting that.
"We'll take a night off when we get back, alright? Just hang in there." He settled on trying to give Amonee a reward, a goal to look forward to. Nucleo wanted to invite Elidae as well but she'd probably be too busy with all of her duties as a Sergeant to have any days free.

The yellowblood certainly was on a roll with finding bits of information. As she rummaged through old documents and the outdated husktops, the screen that flickers on catches her attention. Reading over the message, Elidae made a face. Did this really happen? How come she never knew about it?

Another log, another tense drop in his stomach. It was probably going to give Elidae a good boost in her career to uncover so much information and honestly, it would be great to share with the Lightseekers. But it was just so hard to take in because of how stark it was to see the empty rooms and bodies laying around. These messages were from trolls long dead who had died a sudden death with no warning. For what purpose?
Would the uniform Elidae was wearing put her in a place like this someday? Carrying out routine orders and suddenly perishing at the whim of a distant Queen? The very thought of that brought tears to his eyes and he grabbed her by the hand and dragged her out of the room shaking his head. Normally chatterbox Amonee struggled to articulate what the problem was for a few minutes.
"I-I'm sorry. I'm just so scared. I don't ever want you to end up like... these." He tried to keep his eyes forward, certain that making eye contact would set off his emotional outburst even worse.
Nucleo advances! Nucleo is using his clones! 4d6 hits with +1 to accuracy to each on this attack, 1x per battle. First two numbers are the 'hit or miss' determiners, second two are the damage done.
Amonee's tears caused Nucleo to wince. The jadeblood was prone to crying often but he still didn't like to see it. As the painter grabbed Elidae and fled to the next room, the barista followed quietly. He didn't want to interfere with a private moment but he did need to keep an eye on his team. He only hoped that they wouldn't encounter any more daywalkers while continuing forward in this emotional time. They just needed to find the control room and then this would all be over. When they returned he'd take Amonee back down to the ground floor and outside to just breath and recharge a little.

Amonee's words struck a cord. Like these? A new feeling of fear seeped up below her and caught her by surprise as she looked around the dead ship. Oh.
"E-er, Amonee? Amonee! This is my responsibility now!" Elidae tried to tell Amonee, though seeing him cry in front of her had her pusher break a little. "I know you're scared and you're feelings are valid, but...!" Elidae found herself having a difficult time putting it into words. She pulled her hand out from his, almost a little too hard. Immediately regretting it, she made a pained expression and hesitated. "Please, just stick to the mi- watch out!!" Three daywalkers approached them.
"Yes, you're right. I'm sorry, I'll try to get a grip on myself." Amonee nodded and tried to shake off his nerves. He jumped at the sudden appearance of more zombies. Elidae was trying to keep them on track and he needed to perform well to help with her reputation. He swung his club fast and hard to wipe out the shuffling daywalkers, knocking them all to the floor. It wasn't pretty but it was done. He followed Elidae as she picked up the pace again, not questioning where she was leading them.

“I know this is hard for you guys but- I'm positive we're almost there! I promise!" Elidae reassured with a dimly lit smile, stepping over the bodies and moving ahead of the two. "S-Stay there and watch my back- I'll see what the safest route is!"
Nucleo advances! Nucleo is using his clones! 4d6 hits with +1 to accuracy to each on this attack, 1x per battle. First two numbers are the 'hit or miss' determiners, second two are the damage done.
"What's on the door?" Nucleo frowned. He felt stupid as he realized it was locked, not trapped. He was so used to pointing out traps by this point that he was starting to see them even when they weren't there. Flushing he tried the lock and shook his head.
"It's locked. What should we do?" He'd seen some trolls manage to pick the lock before but hadn't learned how to do that himself. Mulling over their options, he waited to her the other opinions on how to progress.

Amonee is breaking down the door (-5 HP) 10/11 advances 1/2 minibosses defeated
"There's no other choice. Let me-" He had to help pull his own weight. Amonee was tired of sitting back being useless as Elidae and Nucleo took care of the majority of the problems. He couldn't lie, he enjoyed the feeling of them pampering and protecting him but... he wanted to do something back. He had so much to give if he would just try and her earlier words inspired him to do so!
Taking a run at it, he slammed into the door with his side, grunting from the impact as the door gave way. Although he didn't look it, Amonee was strong enough to do that much from his hiking training.
This is a mini-boss battle, the full rules and mechanics of which can be reviewed here.
The room beyond the door seems empty from the hallway, but stepping inside you are swiftly aware that you are not alone! For lurking in the corner is a dark groaning shape. As it turns towards you, you realize you are entering strife!

If this is your first mini-boss fight look below:

If you are a Novice in your skill: Restore 1d8+2 OR 1/4th (rounded down) of your hp.

1 - Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. The screens show that the ship is functioning perfectly, and headquarters patches in the control of a remote helmsman. They wait until you have returned to your boarding pod and leave, before steering the ship away.*
2 - Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. As the screens boot up however, dozens of red warnings and errors flash across the screen. It seems like there has been critical damage to the ship in multiple places. Your team is instructed to leave the small black boxes containing deadly explosives in key positions on your return path to the exit.
3- The ship refuses to power on, even after you follow headquarters instructions to make sure they are plugged in, and hitting ctrl-alt-del. It looks like something core is not functioning. Your team is instructed to leave the small black boxes containing deadly explosives in key positions on your return path to the exit.
4- Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. The screens show that the ship is functioning perfectly, and headquarters patches in the control of a remote helmsman. They wait until you have returned to your boarding pod and leave, before steering the boarding vessel away.*
If any troll in the party has helmsman authority, they can steer the ship to given coordinates, then return to the boarding vessel with the rest of the team.
Congratulations! You have completed your mission and returned back to the docking area! Squad commanders, be sure to report in!

Taking a swift swing, Elidae immediately got a good cut on the slime lusus.
“Eww" She whined, as some of the disgusting goop sprayed onto her face and into her hair. When they went back to the base, she would most definitely have to take a nice long shower after this.

"Whoa!" Nucleo yelped as he slipped on some slime while approaching the monster. It wasn't enough to knock him prone, however, and he recovered his balance to follow Elidae in to attack! Grabbing onto the slime he began to pull at it and rip a piece off. It felt weird and kind of disgusting in his hands but he had to stop it before it stopped them! They were so close and Amonee and Elidae looked so miserable. He'd do whatever he had to do to finish this mission and get them home.
As Elidae wiped some goop out of her face, he winced at how gross it must feel and felt bad for her. It was a little funny too though, to hear her familiar whine and to think of how she'd complain about it in her hair. Not that he wanted her to suffer, he just wanted to have something a little more normal to hold onto right now.

What a gross monster! He knew at one point it had to have been some kind of lusus but it was really uncomfortable to look at. Bobbing and weaving around the attacks, Amonee ignored the pain from it's claws and looked for an opening. The others had done a great job of setting him up for a flanked attack and he took the opportunity, smashing the creature down into the floor. It lay motionless and he let out the breath he'd been holding.
"There. All quiet now." He looked around the room and clapped, letting his weapon fall to the floor. They'd done it! Elidae had lead them to the control room!

The screen flickers with a video clip...
Quote:
The image stretches and warps, but you can make out what looks like the bustling central command centre of one of the ships. Trolls in old military garb are busied around flickering stations and screens, furiously working and shouting at one another.
To match the image, the audio is crackling and hard to make out.
"--protocol AK-JL! I repeat, protocol AK-JL!"
"Init--izing auto pilot, sir!"
The right half of the image is blown white by a glowing light off screen. There is a shrill scream, then the light fades down.
"Auto pilot ac---ted, sir. Coordin--- --------. Status no-----. R--ording systems are also onl---"
"---JL? But whe-- did --- Queen go?"
"Tomalo, shut up and retri-- the codes fro- --- --- -----"
