"Oh, I wouldn't say that entirely Melvin. I've had a few people in my day who in fact really enjoyed being called a slut. Really, really enjoyed it in a very physical and visible way. Shame it's not his sort of thing, he looks like he'd enjoy a bit of feisty play. You should pull his hair, I bet he'd be into it."
He exhaled. "I think he's just right is all, about the old thing. No one likes old guys unless they have money, which I unequivocally do not." He glanced down at his abdomen and idly ran a finger across the ragged scar that dove past his navel.
He gave Melvin a glance, trying to ascertain if he was sad, mad, upset or something else entirely.
"I'm sorry if I upset you." he said. "But he really did wake me up by dunking water on me and antagonised me into a fight, I didn't want to put anything at risk for you. Why would I do that when I'm just after risking everything just to be here and try to help you?"

He didn't want to hear Lawr telling him how to be with someone. How to treat someone. He didn't like how he spoke about Nash.
He took a breath, inhaling deeply and then seeming to deflate.
"It will still be a few days until I can call anyone. Who do you want me to call?" Lawr needed to go home.

Lawrence went quiet, taking the direction of Melvin's response as a statement. His smile fell and he rolled onto his side, facing away from Melvin, wrapping himself in the blanket. The floor was really, really uncomfortable and even with Butch's intervention he could feel his back starting to ache.
"Someone who doesn't want to hurt me. Rodney, one of the boys, anyone I can trust."

"Which one would that be? Who would risk their life to come down here? Who wouldn't shy away from any danger? Who wouldn't drown you the moment you held too tightly and made them worry you'd hurt them?" He asked.
Crawling over, he laid there beside Lawr.
"I'm cold, Lawr."

"I suppose not Malkam. He'd possibly let me drown, I'm not sure yet." Lawrence said distantly.
He moved to throw the blanket and an arm over Melvin and to curl up against his warmth like a cat climbing into a lap. It wasn't sexual so he didn't consider it off limits, he was sore and he was also cold.
"Are you being metaphorical?" he asked, muffled against the other man. "You know what I'm like with metaphors."

He curled into the other, not getting much in the way of warmth as he was with just presence and darkness.
"Not today." He said.

"Oh my god I know." Lawr said in a still muffled scandalised tone. Melvin was as soft and warm as he had always been. It was nice that everyone Lawr had been with lately tended to wear nice warm sweaters and to be generally soft and pleasant. Melvin was a lot better than the little pillow he had. "Everything's wet down here. I know you like the ocean but honestly it can miss me."

"I'll get another blanket for you before I have to go." He did not move, his head down against Lawr and under the blanket.
"Do you care who I sleep with?"

"I care about everything you do." he said. "I care about every decision you make, every action that you take, but I wouldn't ask you to change anything for me. I think you are worth infinite amounts, that you are perfect, desirable and a truly wonderful creature and of course that means I think you are worth more than almost anyone in the world. I'd rather you were happy, that you enjoyed yourself and found satisfaction than that you met some standard I set."
He closed his eyes and mimicked Melvin's voice and tone, not mockingly, just with attentiveness to the way he spoke. "It isn't my choice. We're not together any more."
"But I still care."

The tone and his voice back to him hurt, but it showed Lawr was listening.
"Will you fight with the others?"

"People tend to want to fight with me." he said. "For whatever reason. I don't think it has anything to do with you, or who you want to sleep with. You didn't sleep with Al, for instance."
"Mostly I just observe unseen. The initial altercation with Nash was mostly because he showed up on the roof, where I like to sit alone."
"I can't say I won't fight with the others, but I can say it won't be because of you."

"Behind the door....it sounded like it." He admitted, having heard his name several times.
"I don't want this to be this hard. I just want it to be simple." How long would it be until he could go back to work again. To drift off. To let himself sink into Soarca's concentrated focus.

"I was just needling him because I was annoyed, there was nothing much in it. He woke me up when it's been hard to sleep, I went for what bothered him. It wasn't about you, I don't mind if you sleep with him obviously."
He sighed. "Nothing will ever be simple again." he said cryptically.
