Lin didn't have any date-worthy clothes with her, nor did she have any source nor funds to acquire any. She'd settled for finding a clean pair of shorts and a plain white shirt. It would probably be good to get something fancier for future activities, should she need it. She'd made a note. She'd expected more tables and chairs, rather than pillows and blankets, and she eyed the room with mild confusion. However, this was clearly the correct place, judging by the various people milling around and the list of paired names on the whiteboard. He name was there was well, paired up with, "Brittney Zayles," she read off, and looked around to see if her date partner was present.

Sherry had been given a notice about a time and a place - and considering where it was (on the island) she'd showed up dressed comfortably, but always fashionably, and wearing her coat. Since this was clearly a work event.
Except the room was not full of desks and chairs.
She looked around the room at the pillows and the blankets. She looked at the names on the white board. Mentally she took note that both Mark and Lucky were also there - and it seemed like everyone had been paired off for some reason. Ah. This must be some kind of weird team building thing. Sherry looked for her name. Sherry "Gale" Greyson. Gale? The only person that called her Gale was Mark, so clearly he had a hand in this. Ok then! Whatever this was it couldn't be too bad.
Sherry turned around and scanned the room. She needed to find Lysander.
Oh. First thing first, Sherry stopped and put "Sherry" on a name tag. Then she started walking around the room.
"I'm looking for a Lysander Astoria. Does anyone know where I might find Lysander?"

Sol had signed him up and he couldn't find a reason not to show up. Besides, with how long he'd been on the island it was about damn time he got out there and met some people. Speed dating was likely not his ideal choice for such a venture but it worked and since someone else had signed him up that meant he hadn't even needed to put effort into it.
Which suited him fine.
He did not however dress up. He wore one of his nicer v-necks and jeans instead of his cargos. Zane had even worked on taming his hair a little more and cleaning up some of the wayward scruff. As far as he was concerned, he looked nice. Well, nice enough.
Slow shuffling steps carried him into the office and he meandered over to the desk, scrawling his name sloppily on the Hello My Name Is sticker. Off he peeled it and stuck it to his shirt before green eyes glanced at the scrawled names on the whiteboard and he found his.
Okay, he needed to look for a Cee.

"Hang on," said Mark, lying on his back now on a mound of pillows, blanket still half-wrapped around his head, "just finishing this tag."
There was the long awkward noise of phone keyboard typing and then he looked up, immediately changed gears, and sat a little taller cross-legged now, and then cleared his throat. "You arrive on this planet, having last your warp drive. It's busted and you'll need new parts to replace it. As you reach the nearest town, a tall, handsome man approaches you, clad in Jedi robes." Yes, Mark was narrating himself, "'Greetings traveller', the tall, handsome man says, 'What would you require of me?'"
He trailed off and gestured at Dottie.

"Oh, by all means, take your time." Dottie smiled sweetly, though the flatness of her gaze and the slight growl in her voice were much more telling of how she really felt. What the ******** did he even mean by just finishing this tag? She was guessing it was something ridiculously nerdy. Really, was she going to need Dean to come over here and translate this nonsense? Finally, he appeared to be finished. Unfortunately, as soon as he began addressing her properly, she wished he had just continued whatever he'd been doing on his phone. "Are you for real?" She asked, with a pointed stare.

There was a certain amount of hesitation in the young man as he approached the room he thought he was meant to go to for the speed dating thing he'd signed up for. It had been a big step for him, especially after spending as much time isolated as he had, feeling, for a long time, so very sad and alone and out of place on the island. That had changed, over time, but he was still nervous, still felt so new, and unprepared. A million thoughts zipped through his mind, all questions and second guesses. He wondered if this was all too soon, if he was even ready, even though he knew, truly, that this was actually well overdue. It still took him a couple extra moments to get himself psyched up enough to enter, and the 15 year old teen with dark hair mostly hidden beneath a beanie, and clothes that looked too big, leg bottoms rolled up, sleeves pushed to the elbows, all thread bare and well worn (comfortable, he would have protested), entered the room with a smile on his face, hopefully one that didn't look too forced. He saw a table to the side with name tag stickers, and he made his way in that direction, just finishing his when he heard somebody asking over him. "Yes." He blurted out, whirling around, eyes darting towards whoever had said his name. "Yes, it is me, Tommy." He said, his accent still thick on his tongue. He was still holding his sticker in hand, not yet stuck onto his jacket where he had intended to put it, as he searched for the owner of the voice.

"'A great question,'" Mark narrated, still playing in character, narrating himself, "The Jedi Master, who's name was Mark the Jedi Master by the way, said, he's also like a philanthropist too just so you know," nobody had actually told Mark what philanthropy actually meant, "so he was really good at tech and stuff. And like, making his own lightsabers. With like the proper traded goods. Through completely lawful neutral means. Anyway, said Jedi Master Mark, you have come a long way, m'lady, can I offer you any form of respite?"
During this whole story, Mark kept on making extremely detailed hand gestures which he thought helped narrate his whole story, and then at the final narrated question, tipped his towel hat.

Dottie blinked down at the man seated in the blankets incredulously as he went on and on about whatever the ******** it was he was playing at, and wondered how much her friends had paid him to act like a damn idiot. "Uh, ya dude, I could definitely use some respite. From whatever the ******** it is that you're doing right now." This was totally a prank, she was sure of it.

"Yes, an adventure it will be, a journey, for I have a ship, with a working warp drive, and it's also massive, more than enough to satisfy your -" Mark's phone suddenly buzzed and he paused his narration to stare at it, and then rapidly start typing into the screen a bit.
A good minute passed before he looked up. "What's another word for villianous?"

She wasn't completely sure that he'd even heard her, either too caught up in lala land or flat out ignoring her. Either way, she was incredibly unimpressed. Dottie had opened her mouth to give him a what for, when he was suddenly back on his phone again. Was this all just a part of it? She seethed, inwardly, and counted down slowly from ten under her breath. "I don't ******** know. Douche-bag?" She snarled, when he paused to ask her (she assumed he was asking her, and not just talking to himself) a question.

Speed dating was not something Sid had ever needed to partake in, usually he knew enough people and had enough friends that he could find a date or two when he needed. There was also the usual flash of a grin at the club, buy a few drinks, and offer some promise of a good time and that usually did the trick. The island on the other hand had no clubs, he didn't know a soul on it besides his roommate, and seemingly lacked anything that promised to be fun outside of the “you could potentially die” vibe. This left him signing up his name for some sort of speed dating in hopes of meeting a few others, maybe date, or at least allow Sid to learn some names. When Sid reached the room he was pretty sure he either had the wrong idea of what speed dating was suppose to be like, or they had magically run out of tiny tables and cheesy candlelighting to dress the room up with. Not that he was going to entirely object to pillows, sort of made it seem like the plan was one large cuddle orgy pile but the goal was to make friends not become that close of friends all at once. After a few minutes of watching he headed over to the table and picked up a name sticker, signed his name and started to scan the white board for his first date. Melvin?Someone next to him called his name, glancing the source of the voice over he held up his hand. “Bon jour, I’m Sidney, you must be Melvin right?” MoonKitsune Sorry I changed my name today <3

Kammy still wasn't sure why she thought signing up for speed dating was a good idea. Perhaps she just wanted to know more people and actually talk to someone instead of just watching then at sports practice making mental D&D sheets because that was a thing she totally did that one time. She knew Sam pretty well since they were stuck on that island for a hole year dream thing, but beside her she didn't know anyone else. Plus it might be nice to...well, date a guy. Even if it was for five seconds. She wasn't exactly good at relationships due to the fact she had no idea what she was doing and her point allocation in socialization was low. Basically she wasn't used to talking to people. She was early to the supposed meet up place, standing awkwardly in a corner and wishing she had played more of those relationship simulators, because maybe she'd know how to impress people and not look like a total noob.

Fred picked up a badge for himself because he felt it was probably a good idea. He was anything but shy and had some high hopes for this dating thing, completely open to getting himself a partner out of it. After all Tom had his boss so he was behind in the stakes. That didn’t mean however that he was ever going to treat anyone like just a means to an end, he wanted to mingle and wether or not people were interested in him personally he wanted to get to know more people on the island. Networking was important and most of the people to date that he’d met around had seemed agreeable. He didn’t take twitter as a representative value. Filling it in he carefully stuck it to the cloak he was wearing – because wearing a fashionable cloak was a completely normal thing to do – testing it out on his hand first to make sure it wasn’t the sort to make his clothing all bobbly. He knew he was looking for a Momo so aligning his top hat he set out in the most casual way he possibly could to check out anyone with a name badge to see if they seemed to be the person he was looking for. He was very aware that it looked like he was checking out the breasts on a lot of lovely women, but it wasn’t at all his intention.

Lysander’s childish disappointment at finding himself without any free meal was significant and he didn’t initially make any move at all to go looking for his partner, staying on his sulking spot on the floor. It was only when he heard someone calling out his name that guilt finally outweighed indignation. He wouldn’t want to make someone feel as if they were the reason he was sulking when really it was just the lack of provided food that had upset him. He glanced around at the pretty woman who was apparently looking for him and decided that maybe it was fine to sit up and say hello. Moving the sheets off himself into his lap, he waved a long arm in Sherry’s direction. “Hello!” he said brightly, being as friendly as he could. “I’m Lysander.” He was dressed in a very expensive looking suit, his hair carefully up and braided and with a fancy watch on his wrist. Everything about him was dark from his hair to his eyes, even his complexion less pale than most. “Sorry, Sherry was it? I had quite given up on finding you. It’s not exactly a pub or a restaurant, is it?”

The name sticker on Cee's chest didn't have her name. Instead it sported a lipstick mark of her own lips. Speed dating here on Deus, honestly, sounded hysterical and she simply couldn't be left out. Cee hadn't put too much effort into getting ready - not outside her usual efforts. She could be wearing a potato sack and she would still have her hair done, full makeup and high heels. She cocked a hip as she looked at her matchup and then without any pretense looked up, around the room, and let out a high pitched yell of, " AIGHT, WHO'S ZANE?!"
