"In general, it's Twister. Favourite one I made you watch solely on your reaction was probably... Lion King." He grinned, a s**t eating sort that gleamed with mischief. "Makin' you lose yer s**t is ********' hilarious."

He rubbed circles in Chance's hand with his thumb, stealing a glance at the man as he gazed up at the stars.

"What's your favourite thing we ever did together?"

He choked on a laugh that was half indignant, half mock outrage. "Just for that, I'm never watching another movie again with you," said Chance, though this was an outright lie and they both knew it. "You totally fooled me into thinking that it was a nice happy movie."

Otto's little gestures on his hand made him smile, Chance's eyes still skyward, but the answer to the question was easy.

"When you let me dance with you, at the top of the lighthouse," he said, and turned his head to look at Otto, his eyes bright with the starlight and the lights around them, his smile entirely content. "Well, it's one of many. But that was possibly one of my favorite times that I've ever had with you."

Because Otto had let go, and so had he, and for a few minutes, nothing else in the world had existed except the two of them.

It was cheating a little, because he'd done this with the last several questions, but Chance said, "And yours?"

Otto knew it was a lie. Lie or not, Chance would never escape Otto's tirade to ruin every movie in the world for his boyfriend. It was his life's work and it would not be impeded. "It is a happy movie. Simba gets to be King, just like he said he would." There were just a couple corpses along the way...

Otto remembered that day. It had taken a lot of courage on his part to let himself dance to openly with him. He was glad, happy, that it had made Chance feel this way.

"Mine?" He asked, his gaze drifting away from him as he thought about it. "The first day we met... and our first kiss."

He smiled sheepishly, flicking his gaze down at their entwined hands. "Day we met, you made me feel almost whole again when I didn't feel human anymore. And our first kiss.. made me see you in a way I hadn't allowed myself to."

He rolled his eyes. "Your definition of good moving watching is debatable, for the record."

Chance's fingers twined gently around Otto's, feeling the warmth in them, in the not-quite-shy, but not-quite-cocky words, lying somewhere in between. Chance had turned his head to face Otto, and his expression softened now, his eyes moving across the lines of his face, the distant gaze.

"I remember that kiss," he said, because it was burned into his memory. "I'd wanted to kiss you for weeks by that point, and I thought that you didn't want it, so I didn't."

They'd been lying almost exactly like this, except in the desert. Chance pushed himself up onto one elbow, turning to lie on his side, facing Otto, his fingers absently smoothing up and down the inside of his wrist.

"You said you were lost when we first met," he said softly, still smiling, though it was gentler now. "Found yourself yet?"

Otto snorted. "Debatable?" But he laughed anyway. After all, during most of the movies he got Chance to watch with him, he spent trying to troll the poor fool.

For weeks, he says. That kiss had been part of a turning point. One where he had to choose to accept himself for the desires he'd been raised to believe were wrong, or continue living in the way he believed a man was supposed to. All his constructs of what was proper, what was supposed to be. All the moral grounds he'd built himself on had chattered, and that kiss was one of the pillars he'd built upon a new foundation, with things he'd had to teach his core beliefs to recreate anew.

Chance's question made Otto smile faintly. "I might've. Might not have forgiven myself entirely, but.. I found myself again." He murmured softly. "One last question."

His stomach and heart squeezed tightly in knots as he used his free hand to rummage in the pocket of his his hoodie, still tied around his hips. Shifting so he was propped up on his knee and no longer lying down, he presented Chance with a midnight blue ring box.

This moment, now, where time stood still yet flew forward at the same time... Otto felt nerves, excitement and a metric ton of fear rattle his bones. He was pretty sure his hand was shaking, and he struggled to keep his voice even as he asked this last question and opened the ring box to reveal a silver ring decorated in diamond and opal stars.

"Will you marry me?"

He was comfortable, lying here. The night was cool without being frigid, and Otto's presence was a sure and steady thing, their little haven of safety barred from the outside world with tree branches and those ridiculous (and endearing) training dummy guards. The faint scents of fruit and the stronger scents of night air and grass, wafting around and filling Chance's senses, his lashes low over his cheeks as he looked at Otto.

"Good," he said, and gave Otto's wrist a squeeze. "I'm glad."

He blinked up at Otto as he shifted, Chance's head propped up in one hand as he lay on his side; but Otto was moving, kneeling up, rummaging around and clearly looking for something in his pockets, finally pulling out -

A box. A small, dark blue box that, even with his less than satisfactorily informing upbringing, Chance knew exactly what it was even before the words left Otto's mouth.

For a moment, all he could do was stare, eyes wider and more vulnerable and open than they'd ever been before, unable to tear his gaze away from the ring, which sat quietly and beautifully against the velvet interior. Slowly, as though automatically, Chance pushed himself up into a sitting position, lips parting in silent, stunned surprise.

He tried to form words. None immediately came to mind. Chance's gaze dragged up to meet Otto's, catching the mixture of emotions; the bright eyed happiness, the eagerness, the intensive seriousness of it all. This was not a spur of the moment thing, this had been planned, carefully, because this was Otto, and for the first time, Chance was at an utter loss for words.

His hand reached out, fingertips brushing over the silver of the ring. It felt cool to his touch, his heart somewhere in his throat, Chance's eyes tracing the intricate starry designs, the tiny gems, the infinite care that had been put into this specific thing.

The world had not given him much for years, and he had never thought that he would have ever gotten to this place, this moment in time, and it felt like he was being wrenched completely off balance and yet -

- and yet. Not in a bad way. In a way that meant he was finding new footing, new ground to stand on, a new warm and wonderful place to be that was not the past that had dogged him for years, but something else entirely, something he wanted more than he could put into words.

For a long moment, he was silent, and then his gaze rose again, settling on Otto's face and the smile was more tender than it probably ever had been. Chance extending out towards Otto, flattening in a deliberate, with his ring finger slightly raised.

"Yes."

Otto kept Mimsy's advise in his head, that his fear was not due to doubt, but that he was afraid Chance may say no. Because that was just how important a Yes would be to him. Because he wanted Chance to feel the same way. So he waited patiently on his knee, and took in the way Chance's eyes widened in surprise and understanding. He watched every emotion play over his features and dance across his dark eyes. He looked more sincere and true than he'd ever seen him, so taken aback and stunned it was like a whole other person.

And then he said it, smiled so tenderly and held out his hand, giving him the answer he'd been hoping for. Otto grinned, a nervous laugh escaping him as he looked down at the ring. "Thank God." He murmured, taking out the silver ring with shaking fingers. Holding Chance's hand, Otto slipped the ring onto his finger.

"You don't wanna no how many times I practiced this to make sure I got the damned hand right." He said with humour and a smirk.

His hand, to his surprise, was shaking just a little. It felt strange to be the emotional one, but not wrong, even as Otto's eyes were lighting up at the sheer relief of his answer, the nervous laugh making Chance's heart give a little flip inside of his chest.

Otto's fingers were shaking too. Chance felt them shift as he slid the ring on, which felt cool and oddly right against his skin. He didn't let Otto's fingers slip away once he was done; Chance's hand latched onto them, drew them nearer, and pressed his lips to the tips of them.

"Well, you got it right," he said, and grinned, feeling suddenly, ridiculously elated.

There was a pause and then he said, incredulously, delightedly, "You just proposed to me."

He did. He'd gotten it right. Everything, beyond just placing the ring on the proper hand. The night was perfect, and the man he'd chosen to spend it on was also perfect. Relief washed over him, and elation and some ridiculous giddiness that made him feel like a ten year old told he could have as much candy as he wanted.

"I did." Otto said with a grin. "How's it feel?"
PostPosted: Sun Jul 02, 2017 6:34 am

That grin was going to be the death of him. Chance dropped Otto's hand, but only so he could wrap it around Otto's head, delving fingers into his hair, drawing him close. His own grin matched, wide and ridiculous and elated, happiness bursting inside of ******** amazing," he said, and kissed him soundly, because it was an occasion that called for a kiss, or several, rather, because Chance didn't pull away and didn't let Otto pull away for several minutes.

When he finally drew back, cheeks a little flushed, he let his forehead rest against Otto's, Chance getting his breathing under control, his fingers fluttering against the nape of Otto's neck.

"So," he said, "How are we going to do this?"

Drawn close, he stared right back at Chance with a smirk and eyes that didn't flinch or stray. They kissed, and Otto felt himself lost in physical indulgence. All his emotions that had been condensed and bundled so tightly were set free, the loss of tension relaxing his muscles and making the kisses all the more sensual and alluring. His hands rested on Chance's legs, fingers occasionally smoothing over the rough fabric of his jeans.

His lips left Chance, his forehead gently resting against a curtain of dark curls. His smile softened, but it refused to leave him.

"No idea. It was hard enough just gettin' myself to this point." He admitted with a dopey smile. Months of planning, and a full day of running around to make a quick makeshift date spot. Not to mention all of the uncertainty and doubt he'd had to wade through just to commit to the plan at all.

He was in love with the unhesitating way that Otto leaned in to meet him, in love with the press of his mouth, the feel of his hands, curling against Chance's legs. Chance could have kissed him forever, and he absolutely planned to.

"Well, you made it this far, that's pretty damn impressive and wonderful." he said, giddy with a happiness that felt rooted in his very bones. Chance smoothed fingers through Otto's hair, kissed his temple.

"So does this make you my fiance now?" he asked teasingly, lips against his skin. "I can dig that."

"Pretty snazzy, right?" Otto murmured back, his eyes closing to let himself indulge in the soft kisses against his skin. Still, there were many questions that would need to be addressed soon. Would they move in together? When and were would there be a wedding?

Aw ********>. He'd never thought about a wedding. He'd just liked the idea of being married. He didn't like the idea of standing in front of a bunch of people confessing his love and devotion to Chance. But.. did Chance want that?

His eyes opened and he looked up at the dark haired man right close to him.

"What did you wanna do from here?"
PostPosted: Sun Jul 02, 2017 7:45 am

He continued to press little self indulgent kisses to Otto's temple and cheek, because he was too stupidly happy to pull away and had no intention of doing that, anyway. Chance lifted a hand and ran his fingers through Otto's hair, pulling back just enough to look at his face.

One shoulder rose and fell in a shrug. "I'd be okay with just...making it official. I don't think either of us really needs a big, fancy to do. We could just...go get it done, when we want."

He kissed Otto's forehead, then the tip of his nose before leaning back again, grinning.

"We could just get married then throw a party or something. Or not even do that, just make it official and bam, unless you want something more."

"You're way too good to me." Otto said with a relieved smile. Sign some papers and that would be it. That sounded good. "Don't gotta be right away though. I kinda like havin' you as a fiancé for a bit before you're a husband." He never imagined himself being a husband, let alone having one.

He felt coveted right now, even though this whole date was supposed to be all about Chance. The way the dark haired man tickled him with gentle kisses and affection left Otto feeling like he was the only thing that existed in the world.

"You know me. I ain't a fan of parties. I'll only do it if it's important to you." And he'd do it with a smile on his face.
