Whatever blinding rage Oliver had felt before was slowly neutralized at Nasir's touch; oh, but he was still pissed—livid really—except now the red had cleared from his vision and everything had simmered down. He felt like a weapon, like a loaded spring switch, ready to ******** blow up at any moment—but he had that ability to choose when.
There was a dull, heavy gravity in his chest. Ezra was not a kind person. Ezra was a very dangerous one, actually... but either way, they'd die if they sat around and did nothing and they'd die trying if it came down to it, so what else did he have to lose? Preacher was here—the crazy son of a b***h—Chester too, Nasir, that angry looking Kuroda fellow (which honestly, was good to Oliver, he looked ready to stab a b***h).
His brother had departed with Jamie. Horace and Elliot—? He looked around and caught them both hanging back, right as Nugget deposited himself on his shoulder. "Hey Nug." His voice was surprisingly tender, given his earlier rage. You guys take care, alright? he sent a final mental ping to his two friends. I'll be back.
Would he? [EXIT TO EZRA THREAD]

"Well, lucky for us, all I've ever done for the otherworld is wing it, and it's worked out so far," she responded to Nasir, brushing her hand against his shoulder. There was a look of concern on her face that flickered as she looked him down and up, pointed and unspoken, but she wouldn't press unless he wanted to discuss the particulars of why this had him so angry.
Following Shun's direction, she squared her shoulders and took a deep breath, then followed the others out.

Chester had originally followed because the unrealistic but stubborn part of his brain didn't want Preacher getting herself killed, but now that he was actually stepping out of the relative safety of the tower and into the most extreme sort of danger he could have chosen for himself, cold fear crept up his back, quickening his heart. The truth was, no matter how skillfully they tried to negotiate, there was far too great a possibility that they would all die. Some of these people didn't even look like they wanted to talk first.
He nodded, any reaction to her worry lost in his mild nausea. He followed.

- - - - - Rabbit smiled back, the expression very small. He was beginning to realize he was in shock, had been since Silk had inadvertently revealed that they'd been duped, and now he just wanted this to be done. He wanted to sleep. But first, he wanted to see Pax.

Scrying: 5 + 7(bonus) = 12
Horace took a deep breath, let go of Eli's hand and clapped his own, once, loudly. "Alright, that's that. We better get started." The sooner begun, the sooner done. He pushed all worry for Oliver from his head for now. Nugget was there, he could check on him anytime he needed. "I imagine we need certain things." Something clear-ish to see with... ideally, he'd have something of Ezra's, but he didn't. All he had was Ezra-tinged memories.
Walking over to the pastries, he transferred a few off of one shining plate onto another. His plate now. "So," he said loudly. "Leila, correct me if I'm wrong but we have to find something to 'see' through, and kind of just focus our magic?" But this felt right, whether it was or not, so he would try. This was a part of the court, and nobles were the court, so if he could just... Horace settled himself against a wall. Using the hem of his shirt, he wiped away a few lingering crumbs, looking down at his face reflected in the metal. Like acoustics, if he could fling his magic outwards and amplify it using the circular shape of this room...
"Eli, if you want to lend a hand, I wouldn't say no." Their magic had seemed to work strangely well together before... and... He focused, thinking. Horace wanted to see the Ezra right after he'd left Horace at the court, after the finger-print lifting. He remembered how the court shuddered, that terrible grin on Ezra's face. Where had he gone, what had he done after?

While Eve approached some fetches to discuss and gather available materials for their first attempt, Leila decided to turn her attention to the inexperienced scryers across the room. She fished out her notepad and spent a few minutes writing out some basic instructions:
Handout SCRYING BASICS
You will need...
a reflective surface for viewing a specific inquiry to make a focused mind
Like most magic, intent and personal investment make a difference But for scrying it is crucial. Writing down your inquiry may help. Approach with the mindset of a web search, or looking at a map
FOCUS ITEMS
These increase the accuracy and precision of your search. Something associated with the inquiry (in this case Ezra) works best. You may also try setting up the space with objects you associate with concentration, revealing truth, etc NOTHING is "too weird" or "too silly" !!
CASTING
Performing a scrying spell is meditative in nature.
1. Arrange the space to your liking 2. Focus on inquiry + maintain focus -- if it helps, you can speak your inquiry aloud 3. Keep eyes on your reflective surface 4. Wait for something to appear
Then she tore out the sheet, duplicated it into a small stack and handed a copy out to anyone who looked clueless. Looking to Horace and his question, she gave him a nod. "Yeah, pretty much." While moving through the group, she added, "If it'd help anyone, I can... put his appearance, or what he sounds like, directly into your mind."
