Topaz had noticed Quartz chatting with a Fey seated in front of her, so when the bus pulled over and they all trouped out she collected Amber. It was nice to see Quartz talking with other kids her age. Not that Quartz was a recluse, but she did seem to have a more solitary nature and it made Topaz happy to see that she did indeed have friends. Topaz herself had to remember that she was supposed to be a chaperone and look out for all the kids on the trip to make sure no one got into trouble, but it was kind of tough when she found herself in the middle of a rather handsome set of ruins. Places like these had been her favorite things to come across when she was exploring in her youth, though they were rare finds and never this big!

Topaz led Amber into the cool shelter of the entrance and was immediately drawn to pictures on the wall. They looked ancient and seemed to be telling a story. She was immediately entranced and for a moment forgot everything going on around her.



Amber was feeling much more awake with each passing moment, having enjoyed her bus nap. She kind of wanted to stay with Quartz and the interesting-looking green Fey, but was still just as happy to be with her mother. Mom always had interesting stories about old places. They wandered into the big old building, which Amber was grateful for because it was starting to get a bit hot. Mom was almost immediately drawn to some pictures on the wall, taking Amber along with her. Amber thought they were quite lovely, but didn't have the same fascination as her mother. She waited patiently for Mom to finish looking when something caught her eye.

Was that a kidden?

Curious, Amber left Topaz and trotted off after it. She wasn't too worried about being on her own, what with all the other students and adults around, and it wasn't like this was her first interesting adventure or her find time wandering off. Hopefully she wouldn't worry her mother, but curiosity overrode caution. She could hear the clip clopping of hooves, but the fur she thought she was seeing was a brown-ish shade that blended in pretty well with the stones. She thought she saw the kidden turn a corner and sped up to try to catch up with it. She rounded the corner herself, but there was no kidden in sight. She couldn't hear it anymore either, not even after turning both of her large ears forward. Weird. As Amber strained to see down the passage without traversing it, something shiny caught her eye. She hesitated, then trotted a little ways down the hall until she came to the item and picked it up.

It was a bag full of what looked like golden coins. It was so pretty! But...did someone drop it? Amber looked around, but she seemed to be alone in this passage. She held the bag a bit closer to her, feeling like she was part of some mystery adventure.

Horus had mostly stayed by himself. He had been lucky enough to have his own seat the bus ride up and with how early he had gotten up, he had practically collapsed into his bed drifting off while listening to his music. Luckily he had gotten up at the early morning call relatively easy. He still hadn't quite connected with any one but things like that happened. The idea of exploring the runs would give him enough entertainment and really with out some one to talk to he could concentrate on enjoying the history better, or that's what he told himself.

Trufully he kind of got absorbed in his thoughts and before he knew it he was hitting a rope. Huh this must be one of those closed off areas. He briefly entertained the notion of slipping past it but really he wasn't that much of a daredevil and he didn't want to get kicked out. There was more to explore after all so he backed up and came the way he went.

17: Uh-oh, you've accidentally reached one of the roped-off areas. It looks tempting, but you'd better turn back!

Taking a brether to let their now-injure ankle heal up, Sprite decided that, rather than turn back and waste the opportunity, they'd continue on.

With a slight limp, they walked down a corridor until they reached one of those roped-off areas. What lay beyond, they didn't know, and although they wanted so badly to go and explore the unknown and possibly dangerou,s the need to set a good example for the youngers, and their throbbing ankle, was enough to turn them back.

8: You look into a hole in the ruin wall, and pull out a small object! You may pick 1 trinket.

Annie couldn't help but laugh excitedly when yet another familiar claimed Quartz. It was great to see that the ruins were already abundant with the little guys, even as they barely got into the entrance. Inside the ruins, the wall carvings were gorgeous, but the place had a bit of a spooky feel. He wondered what attracted familiars to a run-down area such as this. Was it the remnants of a mass of people? Or had these ruins been a tomb?

"Do you think all these wall carvings are telling some kind of story?" he asked Quartz, somewhat distracted as he looked. Annie had never been one for history, but this was actually... very interesting. Maybe because it wasn't accompanied with walls of text. There seemed to be a lot of holes in the wall, though. Annie peeked into one, and was surprised to see a sort of glimmer. He reached in and pulled out a little blue-and-brown stone. Pleased, the Fey stuck it in one of the many pockets on his cargo shorts.

13: You see a trail of crumbs and decide to follow it, and run into... a familiar! You may pick 1 familiar.

There was a very startled, garbled noise from Nicolae when Vanna got up. Holy crap they were huge! THEY WERE A MONSTER! Nicolae felt like his heart would explode in fright. Why were some races so... TALL?! He shrank back from the huge chimera. Then again, he wasn't making sudden movements. This was ok. Nicolae kept telling himself that. There was no logical reason to be so frightened by such tall beings... But logic and fear didn't go hand in hand. Oh, why couldn't he have been rooming with a group of small freshlings?

"Oh. I'm... I'm glad you're up." He managed to say, realizing he might be rude otherwise. "No time to waste... The ruins might not be going anywhere but the bus will." He laughed nervously, and probably sounded intensely stupid. He frowned at himself and walked away, shaking his head at himself. Oh the nine, this was going to be a long trip!

At least the bus ride wasn't that long. Nicolae was glad for that. The kids were all too sleepy to cause much trouble as they got to the ruins. He eagerly listened to what the guide was telling them, and had to hold back a laugh when they were told they could take any artifacts they found. It sounded cute, but.... Well, he questioned the practice on many levels. As they were allowed to enter the ruins, Nicolae found himself walking down the stairs and then following a pathway. Wait... these weren't pebbles or rocks on the ground. He turned on his flashlight and knelt down and saw a trail of crumbs leading further into the caves. Had a child already gone this way? He began to follow the trail to make sure no one wandered too far, but was greeted by a pair of glowing eyes that leaped at him, causing the tiny cherub to stumble back, unfortunately, running into one of his roommates in the process. But in his arms he held a vespercat. "You must... be one of those friendly familiars..." He said to the purring thing, before looking up and paling at the sight of one of his tall... too tall roommates.

"S-sorry!"

4: There's a hole in the wall, and you think you see a light coming out of it. You go to look at it, getting your face close. Nope! It was just a spider!

"I'm sorry Nadi. Next time I will try and wake you. I thought you were up." She apologized to her friend when they were on the bus. "...Would you like me to fix your hair?" She could see that Nadinia hadn't had time to fix her hair this morning. "I also brought snacks, did you get to eat before we left?" She asked. She would gladly share what she pilfered from the snack bar with Nadi.

When they got to the ruins, Nashira was awe-struck. The arch was so... inviting. So tempting. Just think of everything you could learn by studying the structure, the art, the lay out of the halls! "I wonder if there is a map of the tunnels they've explored so far. Wouldn't that be a great souvenir?" She asked Nadi. After the tour guide gave them the go-ahead to start exploring, Nashira pulled out her camera. "Nadinia... Should we get photos together on this trip? ...Happy memories." She didn't wait for an answer as she squished in awkwardly against her friend and took a picture.

As more and more people entered the ruins, the crowed thinned, and Nashira felt more comfortable, now that there weren't so many bodies so close together. She just didn't so well around crowds, because she wasn't sure how to act.

When they were inside the ruins, Nashira was fascinated by the art on the walls. She heard Nadinia shriek, and looked quickly, seeing that she had been startled by a familiar. "What a pretty Coatl." She missed her familiars, she wondered if she should have brought one with her... No, the bus had already been so crowded. And what if everyone ended up taking home another 5 or so familiars? No, it was best they didn't. She looked back to the decorative pictures carved into the wall, and tried to imagine what it would have looked like painted. She came to a strange looking crack, it was like a hole with strange cracks splaying out across the surface of some figure's face. She leaned in closer to look, AND THEN HOLY CRAP IT MOVED! Nashira jumped back, startled, and grabbed onto who she thought was Nadinia, clutching the poor girls arm against her chest... only to discover she was not holding onto her familiar Dryad companion, but a Grimm she did not know. Well, no. They were vaguely familiar. She had been on the trip to the forest, hadn't she? Nashira was trying to place who she was, and didn't realize she was still holding the stranger's arm out of fear from that damn spider.

The short bus ride was enough to prod Kanda further into the realm of awake, enough so that she peered around bleary-eyed when they reached the ruins. She rubbed her eyes, yawned, and listened as the Doctor explained everything. They could take things they found AND there were familiars that might wanna go home with them? It sounded fun!!

Since one of her roommates had introduced himself, she automatically returned the gesture. ”I’m Kanda! Nice to meet you,” she signed. She tagged along behind her roommates unsure if they had actually understood her signing. Knowing that Enomu didn’t understand her signing, she pulled her bag around to get a notebook out.

She’d stopped a few steps behind Vega, but was still startled when he yelped. She jumped, then jumped again when a large drip of something fell atop her head. Her yelp was silent, but the abrupt yank she gave to Enomu’s shorts would probably garner attention. She hadn’t realized she’d grabbed them when she jumped until she had to release them in order to finally grab her notebook out of her bag. She was busy glaring up at the ceiling where the mystery liquid was dripping down from.
