Redback didn't wait to land before she was slinging webs towards all nearby Crayola colored fake-heroes. White streams of webbing hit their marks and she quickly drug them to her location in a swift jerk. Swiftly, Redback wrapped them in a cocoon to protect not only them but to others and attached them to buildings to make sure they were now out of the way, or even hung from light posts and such. It didn't take her that long to so since she had a great deal of practice webbing and 'storing' baddies over the years. The only difference was these were, for some reason, super-powered people. The swings and jabs of fists and legs missed her or were grabbed tightly and they received their own fist or heel of her webbed foot in return before being webbed and stored on the next available wall or light post. Her location was quickly becoming a sidewalk filled with hanging web sacks. It was almost enough to make her feel a little bit of pride as the spiders in the area were coming to her aid to watch over the wiggling webbed sacks... hopefully not to eat them.

Hearing the command and promptly ignoring it as a trash bin flew at her, thrown by a rather strong red and green ... Batman and Poison Ivy mix? Was that a flower crown she saw? She didn't have time to think before she was rolling off to the side as the metal bin crashed some feet behind where she once was standing. "You missed." So what was his name then? Flower Power Batman? HippyBat? Poison Bat? Bat Ivy? Nah, none of those were very good. It was then that her ears pricked back as the sharp sound of something coming through the air made her head turn in the location of the sound's source. What... was.. was that a bullet? It was true she didn't quite know all her allies' powers yet, so she was hoping it was one of them doing some good. But the truth came when the sound somewhere off to the back right of her when something -or someone- hit a car with some force.

Redback turned to look at the car as Nightwing ran towards the location. Was... She looked back to where the object had fallen and realized while she had been busy busting baddies... the arrow girl, Artemis had fallen. Literally. That must have been a bullet, Redback confirmed in her thoughts as she slowly approached the location where Nightwing held the bloody body. The stench of the blood in the air was sharp and burned her nose and stung her taste buds causing her to grimace under her webbed mask.

There was too much noise in the back to be completely blocked off but for that moment it seemed the world had stopped moving. Dead silence filled the air before Nightwing looked where she had been looking to see that now a man stood there. Nightwing shouted a name that she didn't really recognize... Redback felt personally shamed that even now... Even NOW - she couldn't remember exactly what her name had been. "Oh... shiit..." She just stood there, rubbing the back of her neck awkwardly as the news traveled around. She hadn't known her so Redback didn't feel too horrible; she was from Gotham after all. Death happened and it happened without permission and whenever the hell someone else wanted. Her blood red and black eyes moved back over to the man known as Slade atop the building across the way.

He was going to have some comeuppance, that she was sure of. If Nightwing's shout means anything. It was then that Redback was brought back into the fray of the fight as two, count 'em, two overweight and male cat'women' tried to dislocate her arm as the other pulled from the other side. Grunting at the inconvenience and audacity they had, she stepped back and forced her arms together to clap, slamming them into each other thanks to her enhanced strength. They soon found their asses bound by webbing and, you guessed it... webbed to a building and sidewalk. Redback wasn't sure how much weight these posts could hold.

The large bear-like man who managed to fit his burly body into a five sizes too small Robin costume made her almost audibly guffaw. Instead, Redback had to choke down the laughter as she was already making jokes in her head about their current Robin and this Robin-Bear. "So that's where the little bird-boy came from." She muttered before running towards the hirsut man as he did the same. Leaping over him, she flipped to land behind him and with a length of webbing in both her hands, brought him down with force to slam into the ground on his back before rolling him over to hogtie him. If only she had her phone with her, she could take a picture of this and send it to the brat.

Her victory was soon over when a fist hit the back of her, sending her flying into a parked car nearby. She was sure that if it wasn't for her enhanced state... she would be crushed, or worse... dead. Groaning, she pulled herself up, not as spry as she had been as her left ankle was hurting as was her back and left wrist. Cars weren't made of marshmallow, go figure. Redback swallowed hard at the taste of her own blood before commanding several spiders to her. The sight soon came into one solid image as the form of a rainbow and prison themed Superman was heading towards her. Ahah, so THAT was what being hit by Superman was like? Yikes.

"N-note to self-," She spat out blood to the pavement which the spiders began to consume and grow in size. "Never piss off Superman." Obviously. She held her side and she limp-rushed the man, aiming her fist in a power packed punch to his face only to have it held firmly in his hand as he kicked her back into the car. "Okay... Okay. Got it. Just... Got it. Damn." She muttered. Holding up her hands as she wheezed, the Rainbow Superman stood over her about to pick her up, when she turned her hands and shot out short blasts of webbing at his face before kicking one of his knees inward, effectively breaking it. That was for throwing me into a car, twice. Redback thought to herself, knowing that wasn't smart to say aloud.

Redback quickly tried to get up to web him to said damaged car, but her eyes were on her surroundings now. She was wounded and it sucked. First mission out and they had a dead teammate and a wounded spider... what next? It was, of course, soon answered as two Supermen and one Wonder Woman (who actually looked kinda like the real deal but the stars were far too large to be Her, and WW didn't have florescent hot pink hair) in various Crayola finery caught her eye in the sky. "Are you ******** kidding me?" Redback sighed angrily. Maybe she had to actually ask for a little help? Redback wasn't used to that at all; she worked alone and at night... Well, it was day and she wasn't technically alone. Nothing felt right. She touched the comm in her ear.

"Hey... I took out one fake Superman... I think two Supermen and a Wonder Woman is a bit above my paygrade..." She paused and took a deep breath as she eyed the sky warily. "What's a Spider got to do for some help?"

Donna flew from the Titans Tower making sure everyone made it out with a ride. Flying to the chaos filled city she landed between the mixture of cosplaying heroes. Many were quite the site to see. How could someone do this? It was a peaceful parade and now it's turned into something terrible. Donna was a little hesitant fighting the Superman that landed in front of her. The thin whispy man barely filling in the form. These were real people under the mask after all. Feeling the thundering punch against her jaw made her think otherwise. "Man for a scrawny guy you really pack a punch."

As the team fight through the crowd she heard the crash of a car hood. Her head swirled to the direction of the noise. Noticing the blonde hair and green suit turning maroon Donna gasped. Running towards the direction pushing through the crowd she saw the lifeless form in Nightwing's arms. "Oh gods.... no." she whispered. Kneeling down a moment beside them before Damian shifted the focus to the fight. Clenching her jaw she followed direction to find out where this commotion was starting from.

Knowing well Slade had already vanished. There was no meaning behind hunting him down, yet. If he was targeting their team they'd meet up again. Taking flight into the smoke filled air she searched from a higher level for the start point of the chaos.

Now this was the life for him. It reminded him of the Valentine’s Day he spent with Batgirl and the lovely antics that ensued there within Gotham as Teekl had a joyous day of delivering hearts out to the world...literally. Here though, they were mostly one accord with their ideas, wanting to simply have fun in a land full of Heroes and Villains. There was no need for any killing. He just simply had a quota of Chaos to fill in the area before a certain someone showed up to try to right it. He did have to throw Dr. Fate off balance with what he actually had in mind after all.

Klarion was casually chewing on gum from the candy that was thrown all over the place before he stopped dead in his tracks, looking at the figures who gathered over the recently deceased.

”Teekl, my, my, my. What have we here?” he feigned a yawn when looking the people up and down, a Condiment King and a male Wonder Woman -The said hero dubbed himself Wondeisha- before acting like he was surprised. He wasn't to say the least as he knew who they were. Still...dare he all the more to make the joke? Oh, dare it he shall. ”I was hoping the real heroes would show and not the cheap knockoffs when everything about you all...SCREAMS...Justice League for Halloween. The least you could have done was bring me dear ol’ Batgirl. Our games are quite cheeky.”

He swatted his hands at Nightwing and them to see what all the fuss was about. What he saw next had startled his youthful soul, a lie of course. He really didn't care.. His golden buckle shoes clicked on the ground as he made himself right on over, Teekl’s back hunching as they examined the damage.

”Oh, I’d help,” he chuckled. Of course, a huge but was coming and it wasn't from the Chunky Robin parading around with twirlers and green underwear reminiscent to what d**k Grayson used to wear. ”But this exceeds expectations. As much as I'd love to watch the realm of Order freak out over me defying their rules of fate, her death fills my quota.

To prove his point, there was that hourglass again, the red sand revealing itself to now be at a perfect state of balance. It vanished in thin air once again and so Klarion felt his fun was over with. With a quick snap of the fingers, everything briefly froze and began to “rewind.”

Everything before them had undone itself. The parade had resumed as if nothing happened, the daytime back in the air, but that was a lie. A scream was heard and it was clear on thing had not changed: Artemis’s death. Klarion chuckled deeply and menacingly, his smile only remaining reminiscent to that of the Cheshire Cat before even that was gone.

”Farewell Titans. Until next we meet.”

"Keep your eyes on the ball, Jason." Chimed Stein from the back end of Jason's mind. Bobbing and weaving passed the inexperienced lot of fake heroes, Jason drove straight down onto the street to get a better look of it all. He didn't have enough space to think and process it all without the infuriating distractions of all the false superheroes present. One of them was heaving a car over his head, ready to toss it off in any random direction he saw fit. Forming a ball of fire in between his hands, Jason shot it forth watching it all the way until it made impact with the troublemaker causing him to be thrown into the building closest to him. "This doesn't count as a hate crime ,right?" Jason said aloud to no one in particular before being whisked away into the air by a Superman. Oddly enough, he was quite as rough and tough as the real deal, or at least as he imagined him to be if not for the face. Way too soft for such a strong guy.

"I don't mean to state the obvious but it would be wise to do as you kids say these days and 'shake him off'."

"I. Am. Working. On. It." The fake Superman had a grip around his neck strong enough to practically squeeze his eyes out of Jason's head. As they ascended higher and higher, Jason punched at the man madly, doing little to nothing as it seemed considering he was still pushing him higher and higher into the sky. "I tried to go easy on you, man." He'd warn him of his next attack as his eyes burned with a bright white color. Jason put his palms up to the man's torso, blasting a plume of fiery rage onto him. The stream was powerful enough to send him right back to the surface in a smoking heap. He was lucky to have adapted part of Superman's invulnerability; otherwise he would have been falling back to the ground in ash.

"I tried to tell him." Jason shrugged as he flew back down to the ground to find the commotion settling down to a quiet calm. "Nice of you guys to show up when you did. I couldn't handle all of those creeps at onc-, holy s**t.."

      "Oh dear.."

The entirety of the team sat huddled around a fallen team member. One of the other archers that they kept around he assumed trying to make-out her blood stained uniform. He didn't even notice all of the LGBTQ members turned back to their normal pride celebrating selves.

”Fall back, Titans…”Those were the only words that Nightwing had let out, as his attention was kept on the fallen Titan. Slowly lifting his head to see that the parade had went back to normal; as if nothing even happened. His emotions were mixed between sorrow and anger. He knew who had done this, but he asked himself. ”Who hired Slade? Why did they want to hurt the Titans?” Gently standing up with Artemis still in his arms. Whoever it was, they had a lot coming to them for this. ”Robin..Get the Batmobile ready.” He quickly commanded, not wanting any attention that they might draw from this incident. Death was nothing new to him, but that didn’t mean that it didn’t hurt. One of his teammates were dead, and Slade was going to pay for this.

      Later that day…

As the Batmobile landed on top of Titans tower, he quickly made his exit from the passenger side. Continuously holding onto her body, blood slowly dripped making a trail of it on the roof. Immediately making his way through the tower to the med bay, within a minute in he quickly laid her on the examining table. He knew what needed to be done next, he had to inform that person that had train her. He needed to tell Oliver before more time passed. With that stuck in his head, he quickly darted out of the room without saying a word to anyone. As he sat alone in his living quarters, discarding his domino mask before he attempted to contact Ollie through his personal phone. He didn't want this to be a work matter, this was personal. As he dialed the phone, and spoke before he could say hello. ”I’m sorry to tell you this Oliver, but Artemis is dead.. Slade did this. He shot her. I'm so sorry.' It finally came out of his mouth, him saying it out loud made it sting even more than it already had.

Redback stared around awkwardly, limping as she slowly made her way through the room. Everyone seemed fine..... well, of course not ArrowGal... or herself for that matter, but ArrowGal was dead... so she had Redback beat on that one. The other team members seemed to scatter once they arrived back at the tower and she didn't blame them one bit. With the air this heavy, no one was really talking... and Redback didn't blame them. There was just... what was there to say, even? Someone died on what was the strangest mission she'd ever been on.

Instead of asking for anymore help, which never came for her anyway, Redback limped herself towards where she knew the Infirmary was. She was flippin exhausted to the point where she didn't even want to mourn with the rest of them. She had only met her once and death was common back in Gotham. Sure it had been shocking at the time, but now it was done. Redback approached the first white linen bed and collapsed in it. She didn't bother taking off her webbing costume or telling anyone where she was going. She was sure some ribs and an ankle were damaged and maybe a wrist and shoulder. A slight concussion was possible, but she didn't care if she never woke up, Redback was dead tired.

      Beast Boy
      Titan's Handsome Shapeshifter

Back at Titan's tower, Beast Boy still found himself at a loss for words. The reality was they'd only been together for such a short period of time and now one of them was dead. They had to be the worst team of all time for sure by that merit only. Gar sat on the couch and hadn't said anything since returning to the tower which was very out of character for him. He knew that if he felt this way from the sight then imagining how d**k felt was probably ten times worse. Nightwing after all, held the body and still had her blood on his hands figuratively and literally. Beast Boy crept to the med bay where d**k was and peeked in. ”I’m sorry to tell you this Oliver, but Artemis is dead.. Slade did this. He shot her. I'm so sorry." Beast Boy looked at the floor overhearing his words and just turned moping away. The LBGT parade replayed in his mind. The car...her bloodstained corpse. How their team would bounce back from this was the question. If this was even still a team after today.

      Meanwhile...

In the training room, Robin was venting his frustrations out on a certain VR criminal and shutting down their operation. His name was Oswald Cobblepot better known to others as the Penguin. "Stupid naive untrained undisciplined girl!" his voice reverberated throughout the room and VR experience. The setting was Gotham, the Diamond District and more importantly taking place inside of the Iceberg Lounge. Robin had been clubbing thugs left and right as quickly as they came at him. They were relentless in their efforts but so was he. The rush made him almost bloodthirsty and it would be a travesty if anyone were to interrupt him now of all times. He disabled several oncoming foes from severing collarbones to your classic femur shatter. If it wasn't already clear enough, he was pissed. And he had no intentions on giving up his rage anytime soon.

After all, he'd already gone through one-hundred-thirty-eight of Penguin's men. Still having yet to break a sweat. Disabling them was child's play and he was no child. "If she'd paid more attention to her surroundings then maybe she would still be here. Fool! She was a fool!" Robin continued to yell, his aggression only increasing as he carried on. His fists were stained with blood as the swarm seemed to double. In response to this a smirk crossed his lips. "After I'm done with these insufferable wastes you call lackeys. I'm coming after you Cobblepot. You hear me?!" announced Damian, who now found himself cornered in by several henchman. He used his size to leap over the group and their heads as stepping stones to take out more.

"You keep dreaming bat-brat. By the time my guys are finished with you, you'll be nothing more than food for my pets." Said Penguin. Damian bared his teeth and turned seeing Artemis or so he thought standing next to him. The position he took was defensive, but Artemis took on an offensive stance almost immediately. Damian scrutinized the way she positioned herself; searching out future mistakes in her body language. "Pay attention to the fight." Under his mask a brow rose. How dare she lecture him when she couldn't save herself from being done away with by a simple bullet from an even simpler assassin. But just as he was about lash out at her for this, she was gone. "Huh?" he questioned, before a punch jarred him and his thoughts. He spat out blood, his gloved fist making motion to wipe it away. Refueled with anger now as he stood again.

Penguin's freaks lunged with a dash, feinting toward Robin's left side before bouncing back to his right. He dodged with ease and jumped over them, using their shoulders for support. A small opening for 1.7 seconds. Letting go, he ducked when one spun to kick his face in, then rolled to the left when the aforementioned goon brought their leg down to strike his back. Robin propelled himself onto his feet, palming two whilst in the middle of them. They visibly grit their teeth, waves of frustration rolling off them. How one child managed to elude them for this long was no doubt frustrating. Damian would keep up this for however long necessary. Maybe until he was forced by d**k not to. Or maybe when he finally got tired. But one thing was for certain and that was--it wasn't happening anytime soon.

Donna followed back to the tower in solemn silence. Artemis died. She was actually dead. In all the years she had been with the Titans it was hard to fathom losing a member of the team was possible. Her black brows furrowed as she landed on the roof. Blue eyes following the trail of blood. How could this happen? The events of today racing through her mind as she wandered through the hall. This is what Slade would want. He's tearing the team apart with only one shot.

Standing at the end of the hall just before the living room. She couldn't even walk out there. What was she supposed to talk to all them about? Changing her direction last minute she ended up in front of the simulation room. Listening to Robin fighting his heart out she sighed shaking her head as she headed down the hall more. Donna really couldn't say anything to the kid that would make him stop fighting out his frustrations.

She walked past the med bay leaning against the door frame as she looked at Nightwing. Listening to him make the call to Oliver her heart leapt to her throat. Donna held that small gratitude towards her old teammate for taking the lead on that. "Ni-Richard." She paused furrowing her eyebrows again trying to think of what to say in the situation but everything fell flat. She sighed before shrugging as she ran a hand through her long black hair.

It was one event after another. The entire parade gone wrong turned out to be some epic sham at controlling fate by balancing order and chaos evenly. It was a failure because ultimately it wasn't even those childish antics of a youthful troll that made their very own Robin look normal as opposed to a snot nosed whining snob. No. It was the fact that a life was taken and because it met the quota, no help could be offered.

He hated her if people wanted him to be honest. Not her particularly, but what she stood for. Maybe that was why he was presently in the training room, the archery range to be more exact as there was enough space to not warrant him needing to have to be in the same place with one bratty Robin, firing arrows at a few targets that all either wore the color green or had the color scheme of Deathstroke. His contentions were against the Emerald Archer and Slade Wilson. The former was easy. Roy was kicked to the curb because of his “antics.” Forgive a teen for wanting to party a bit after not having the taste of High-Class fine wine and dining in his life, but to make it as if being a sidekick to him meant nothing? Oh, that pissed every fiber of his being and soul off. If that hippie of a hypocrite wanted to make it like their time together was nonexistent by bringing a cheap knockoff clad in green with no actual identity of her own, then Roy was fine with it. He was not fine with the way it was done, but it seemed like the ginger would have to remind them who he was. Here's one Oliver: Show some respect where respect is due. Without who? Without Roy, there’d be no Artemis. Roy didn't pretend to be a saint, so it was easy to drag a teen like him through the crusade. He drew back and fired an arrow, the bolt of the head making it’a mark right Dead and center without fail.

Now, there was the actual person who killed her himself: Deathstroke. He spared no expense in ripping that figure to shreds, but he put himself to various limits by running the training simulations. He wouldn't be staying still when Roy actually drove an arrow through his mask and through his skull after all. They said that vengeance was never the answer, huh? Well he had a lot of reasons why that was a lie and it still worked off for a lot of people. Still, he needed to relax. The thought of delving into his hold habits crept up if not for the fact that the male remembered he was a part of the Titans for that very reason. He would be fine. He ignored it as nothing more than a weakness and reloaded his now.

”Again,” he commanded, the simulation within the room running itself over again. This time, he upped the settings a bit more. One way to improve was to surpass his weakness.

Richard slowly hung up the phone after his chat with Oliver; it was the least he could do. It sucked being the one to give out bad news but he had to, she was his teammate and he had a duty as a leader to do so. Still in shock after the events that unfolded at the LGBT Parade; it was supposed to be a simple task that turned into a nightmare for the rest of the team. Allowing his phone to slip out of his hand to drop onto the table he was stationed at, he calmly glanced down at his outfit with her blood stained in it. He couldn’t but blame himself for her death, he was their leader and he failed them. Who was he going to fail next? Donna? Damian? Kori? Those were a few names that came to mind right away. Anyone on the team was at risk with someone like Deathstroke running around still.

Before he could sulk anymore, a familiar voice called out to him. ”Ni-Richard.” It was one of the people that knew him better than anyone else. She had been around before they had even formed the Titans. Immediately after hearing his name he looked up at her. ”What kind of leader am I to let this kind of thing happen? It was our second time out as a team and someone is already dead.” The tone in his voice was bitter, not towards anyone on the team but at himself. His attention turned right back at the table where his phone and domino mask laid. It felt like to him that his mask was mocking him, what kind of hero was he to let a guy like Slade just get away like that? What was next for them? Hopefully it was better then this. After realizing that he was still wearing his damn suit, he couldn't bare to wear his tunic anymore; just the thought of her blood still on him made him sick to his stomach. Immediately after he pulled it up, he quickly discarded it as if it was trash.

Their arrival back at the Tower was a grim one filled with faces that frowned and voices that remained silent. No one was in the right mood to jest not even Wally nor Beast Boy. They seemingly thought of themselves as tomorrow's Justice League but they couldn't even come back from a rookie mission without losing their own. Frankly, Wally felt horrible for the brief and unfortunate encounter he had with Artemis prior to their departure. He was rather rude to her from the get-go, resenting her very presence on the team. He had planned to apologize later in the day, had things not have taken a turn for the worst.

Sitting in his room, Wally bounced a purple ball back and forth against a free space along the wall sulking and sitting in silence as some of the others did.
His thoughts were elsewhere, back to that moment where he turned on his heel to spot Artemis dead atop a car. The others looked into the sky as Nightwing shouted a name. What was it? Blade? No, Slade. He stopped bouncing the ball, scratching his head in confusion at the name. d**k and some of the others seemed familiar with her killer, an old foe perhaps? Wally wanted to know more, to be prepared for another encounter if this person was to be a problem down the line. Speeding out of his room, Wally bounded the halls back and forth searching for d**k within the tower. Upon discovering their leader, he came to a halt right behind him not saying anything at first as he saw the pain and regret even from where he stood.

"Who is Slade?" Was all the young speedster said. It was the question among many questions that he still had about the whole situation but that one seemed the most appropriate and would be guaranteed and answer.

Having calmed some more, Damian ended his simulation. Unknown to him before did he now realize he wasn't alone in the training room. The other archer was present as well. Damian said nothing. He didn't know Harper had a relationship with Artemis giving their mentor status and quite frankly, did not care. Going over to where he laid his towel, picking it up, he draped it along his caped shoulder. He headed to the showers not to bathe but just to stare at the mirror while he wiped himself free of any sweat.

A sneering face stared back at Damian in the mirror. Lips pursed up, nose wrinkling. It was Damian’s natural expression, a face he fell back on when he wasn’t sure how else to look. He tried to smooth out his course features, relaxing his face muscles until only a blank look remained. For a fleeting moment, Damian had to wonder, did father look like this? It wasn’t hard to imagine so. Mother always did say that he and Father shared a special likeness, something other than the deep blues of their eyes and their strong jawlines. But looking in the mirror, Damian could only see tan skin and all the middle-eastern traits inherited from his other family.

He didn't know why he'd been so upset before. He barely knew the blonde. Hell, he barely knew anyone on this team save for Nightwing. They were all reckless like her, Artemis. And if they didn't put more time towards using the the training facility as he, then their fate would soon be the same. Damian straightened his figure. Chin up. Shoulders back. Become the regal lord that Mother trained you to be. He told himself exiting the restroom to now being in the main hall. Walking past him with his head down low was Beast Boy. Unusual for him? Very. Not too long after came zipping by was the speedster--Kid Flash. This piqued Robin's interest as he followed to where his streak led.

He poked a head into the room at first then saw the many occupants inside. Grayson, Troy, and West. A frown appeared. Was this supposed to be some secret meeting? No, he wouldn't stand for it. Clearing his throat to make his presence known, Damian would be seen standing in the doorway, arms folded. "Who is Slade?" asked Kid Flash. Damian rolled his eyes. "I occasionally forget none of you have the resources of a Bat-computer at your beck and call. So your ignorance is forgiven, Kid Flash." started Damian in an arrogant tone. "I myself hate surprises. So I took the liberty in my free time when Father wasn't around to sift through the files of every enemy I could. Deathstroke is just one of the many that happened to be in that category. For starters, his name is Slade Wilson. Former military. Now hired killer. One of the best according to Batman's files. He's trained in every area you could think to name. And if my intel about him is right then he very wells knows all of us. In fact he's probably watching us right now." he paused letting that last sentence sink in to inform them on the caliber enemy they were dealing with. "But to my knowledge Deathstroke only kills when hired to do so. So, the question isn't; why he killed Artemis. It's really who paid for her demise. And did that person also happen to put a hit out on us." Damian marched forward beside d**k now sizing him up then continued. "Which I can say is more than likely the case. Being that I'm never wrong of course. So, hear me when I say, now's not the time not to mourn but to be prepared. Cause if we're not then more are doomed to die."
