“Hostile to an ally? Don’t know what you’re talkin’ about, bluebell. I’m just making casual conversation. It’s like you don’t know we’re on Alternia or something.” Loulah smiled grimly and watched as the blueblood got to work.
Fortunately, a troll she much preferred the company of wandered up – Loulah nodded at Mahmud and connected the attachment to her port and gave it a spin. “Not bad, kid. Keep working on it.”

“Sure thing! We’re looking ahead as much as possible. Our settlement is totally sustainable, no complications yet.” Panili crossed her fingers in front of her. “With any luck other folks at Bloodfest will be interested in the projects of ours, too.”
She turned to look behind her, tapping her chin. “We’ve got tons of beans, melons, corn, and tomatoes! Our squash isn’t quite there yet, but if you come down to the plains I’m sure by then they’ll be huge! I’ll make you some soup!”

Garand paused, squinting at what he'd done. Had he put the wrong piece in there? It had looked right a moment ago, but now he wondered if he should switch it. He considered another moment and then did just that.

Azrael carefully listened to the tealblood as she explained. He knew something about electronics, but not an excessive amount. He could probably recite a dictionary of medical procedures front and back, but that had precious little to do with electronics. It might be useful if he ever needed to work with prosthetics though.
The young highblood channeled all he could into paying attention to the teal blood. He whipped out his sketchbook and not only took notes but drew detailed diagrams as he understood them.
It seemed to take Azreal little to no time to make the circuit. Occassionally he may have glanced back at the notes he made, but otherwise his work was done quickly and without too much need. When he was finished he stepped back and slid his sketchbook into his overly large pockets and nodded.
"That should do," But, was there anything else that he could learn? Or do? the exercise really had his brain itching for a challenge.

A small compliment meant a lot more than Loulah probably realized.
It was enough to convince Mahmud to come back that night, sit down, and try again at playing with circuits. "Its nice to see you again..." he murmured, so low it was almost inaudible. Again, he couldn't look up at Loulah's face. Instead he concentrated on the task at hand, tongue sticking out as he started drawing out a new set of circuits. A cute cartoon doodle of his teacher decorated the upper right hand corner. It wasn't the best, but clearly meant to be something of a compliment. Somehow.

Today was already proving far easier than yesterday! Mahmud managed to complete his diagram with relative ease, and then took to starting with the parts. Now that he knew what he was doing (kinda), putting things together for a first run through.
While he was gathering and organizing, he finally spoke up. "I live in the middle of the desert" Mahmud stated, squinting at a part before plugging it in. "Ommy and I were alone for the longest time, we had to learn how to get water and food by ourselves. We never really head into town much... or rather, I didn't. Ommy'd go once in a while." For a moment he considered something, eyebrows crinkling in that way like when he was thinking the night before. "I think it's good to teach trolls how to live from what they can access..."

"... I guess I'm just a little confused about something." Looking up finally from his work, Mahmud furrowed his brows further at Loulah. "You say self sustaining, and then talk about community..." He began to itch at his arm a little bit, concentration on his work completely lost. "How can someone be completely self reliant, while still working in a community? Doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose? Or am I misunderstanding that." His eyes narrowed at Loulah and then he realized-- oh snap, his work! With a little 'eep', Mahmud went back to work.

Now that he was concentrating on his work a bit more, Mahmud finished his first attempted and sighed, smiling a bit. "Alright! Lets fire it up..."
When he attached power though... the only thing that happened is that the middle digit flipped right on up. "... AH! AAAH!" Mahmud's jaw dropped, eyebrows shot right up, and then he scrambled on TOP of the arm in order to hide it. "N-NO! NO NO I'M SORRY! IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO DO THAT!" Poor Mahmud's cheeks flushed dark, and he practically ripped out the power supply. "T-THERES SUPPOSED TO BE ANOTHER FINGER I SWEAR."

Scrambling and rearranging, Mahmud tried to redirect the different wires to different fingers. This one worked! That one didn't! Maybe this one would be fine? OH GOG NOT THE MIDDLE FINGER AGAIN!
This whole process took some time, and Mahmud took a while, but finally managed to find the bad wire that stopped one of the fingers from going up. Now it was a matter of remembering which finger was interfaced where...

For a moment, no fingers went up or down. Mahmud stared at them for a little while, then back up to Loulah with an apologetic gaze, then back down. Come on, come on... there was no way he was going to embarrass himself in front of a teal--
Again, the middle finger flipped up on its own. Again, Mahmud jumped over the hand. If it didn't belong to someone in particular, there would be no doubt he'd murder it by now. And why wasn't it doing the other thing it was supposed to--
Oh. Oh it was wiggling from side to side now. The wrist was literally waving the bird around. Beautiful.
