Well at least she had found someone who could answer her question. The sooner she could leave the sooner she was out of danger of being squished by any roaming mountains! She was visibly taken back by his off-hand jab at her size and possible lethality. Honestly how dare he? Pinning her ears back slightly her forced smile soured into a frown - topped off a disgusted nose wrinkle. "I say! Haven't you ever heard of the phrase 'Big things come in small packages' before? You might want to hold off any judgments on how deadly someone is before you even know anything about them, sir." "Especially when you keep your ankles open to attack like that. We small people have ways to bring down giants like you!" Her eyes trailed down as she lifted a paw to halfheartedly swipe at his feet to prove her point. Even with all her big words there wasn't much there to back up her bold claims. She had no real experience fighting, she could barely reach the top of his back, and well he could probably easily pin her to the ground with one paw. Though the image of her actually winning against this male in a fight and standing victorious on top of him, now that was a funny sight to imagine! Ah, but with each word he spoke her inner fire died out just a little more. Her whole demeanour softened back to her much quieter and reserved normal self. "Oh, that's terrible." Biting her lower lip she struggled with herself whether or not to take the risk of crossing her social boundaries and offer her up skills. After all, these weren't her people, she had no real business sticking her nose in their business in the first place. But she had inadvertently done that already, hadn't she? Others had come to offer their own aid, it seemed wrong to her not to do the same. Her head snapped back up as her attention was brought back in focus by his question. "Yes and in a way no? My clan and I aren't...affiliated with any of the other groups here I believe. We're are stationed not to far off from here actually. That's the reason why I'm here, I came to investigate the sudden flood of people we were seeing come here." Sucking in a deep breathe she tried to calm her nerves before she continued on. "Um, if I may, I am an alchemist by trade. If you need an extra hand I'd be happy to lend my services to your pride to help come up with an antidote?"

Zili was not sure why he looked up. Perhaps the sense that he needed to. The sense that something had changed. His dark eyes crossed the gap between him and Destati, finally landing on the white lion who had been both friend and mentor and more of a father than he had ever known. It was true that, all in all, they had spent a short time together, but it had left an impact on the dark lion all the same.
However, despite all of that, when Zili set his eyes upon the warrior, the only thing he felt was dread and fear. Was the lion on the hunt for phantoms again? Had the trail led him here? Would searching for herbs soon led to searching for loved ones amongst the destruction? He felt his lungs tighten and for a moment he struggled to breath over the thoughts that bombarded him. Didn't even realise that he had ground to a halt and was now staring at the other lion as if he'd seen something from his worst nightmares.
It was only when Xochi moved quietly up beside him and asked whether he was ok that he snapped out of his thoughts and turned to look into her golden eyes. So beautiful and earnest and innocent. How long would they stay that way?
"I, uh...I'll be back."
And, with a jerking motion, he moved towards Destati, pulling just short of running into the other and giving him a concerned look. "Is everything...well?"
Xochi, meanwhile, had followed slowly behind - her turn to be the shadow, it seemed - and leaned sideways to peer around her tall companion at the stranger. Hm. A friend of Zili's? How interesting!Epine de Rose Sorry for the late response on this!

"So she has inadvertently killed her own kind through absolute stupidity," Zephyr remarked. She wasn't usually so blunt, but when it came to this she was a touch less forgiving. For example, these lions didn't appear to have left their walls too long ago and she was already feeding foreign plants to her kind? How utterly foolish could you be, Zephyr was inclined to offer a toxic frog to lick just to complete the lesson. Fortunately she could be diplomatic when she needed to be, even if she had no qualms about outlining exactly how someone had messed up, she wasn't going to make it worse... Or at least she wasn't going to feed them anything that could make them worse.
"I wouldn't mourn her," she added and shook her head.
Unfortunately for Yawo, it seemed her explanation also wasn't enough for the Hlare. Whether it was because Yawo was attempting to explain away a fundamental flaw in the pride's decisions or not remained to be seen, but it was evident that they wouldn't be excused. The Bahari had enough on their paws without those with decidedly less intelligence attempting to kill themselves... courtesy of one very stupid female in a position of incredible trust. Suffice it to say that the pink lioness couldn't accept or forgive that breach, though she suspected the pride would be naive enough to do so themselves.
"Patch them up, but don't exhaust yourself here. If they want to keep shoving things in their mouths without proper testing then they can continue to do so," she said firmly and pursed her lips. "But after that we won't help them. You can't cure stupid, especially when it comes in the form of an adult and we have much more significant problems to deal with," she stated. How Yawo would respond to a less sympathetic side to the lioness would be another matter entirely, but you couldn't save the world and it was an important lesson to learn, especially when they seemed determined enough to kill themselves through ignorance.It wasn't long before Destati found himself in the company of another. Though he had made no attempts to move further into the pridal compounds, he was soon greeted by a familiar face. Amber eyes shifted to meet Zili's and he regarded the lion for a few moments, noting his apprehension. He certainly couldn't blame Zili for having such a response given that the last time he had been in his company, he'd had a crash course in exactly what it was that he would be fighting. Truthfully, he was perhaps the only one outside of Tethys who truly knew what the phantoms were... It could be a heavy burden to bare.
"I believe so," Destati replied in a mild tone.
Nothing about him gave any indication of trouble, but anyone who knew the Justicar would have known that he rarely seemed to panic about anything. All in all, he'd been at this for so long that he was desensitized to it, there was little that could make him panic and if he was stressed... well, that would be a good time to worry. Still, the lion was aware that he needed to reassure Zili despite the activities of his counterpart.
"A friend of yours?" he nodded towards Xochi and offered a half smile (he didn't seem capable of full ones). "Or is this the one you fought with such fervour to join?" he asked with renewed interest.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Meanwhile, the black lion had already placed distance between himself and the Justicar and was actively making his way passed the areas of immediate interest. The plants were of no use to him, they had never been of use to him, if he needed anything from that discipline then he could simply request it from Suu'marle. That was the way of things and how they operated as a unit, they would ask much the same from him if it came to his area of expertise. Thus he continued on his way towards one of the many 'warrens' that he had suspicion existed in this region - while would have preferred for most to have been occupied by these otherwise naive pride members, he couldn't be too careful.
...Given they were also going through a drought of information and he would sooner not install himself quite so deeply within the Scourge at this time, the data he might gather here might prove useful.
Well, if there was any, that is.Kimaria It's fine I didn't have my laptop last week so I had to wait! <3 And you can spot Adar too if you like, he's stealthy but he was still right there. xD Tethys: 5 | Suu'marle: 5 | Havase: 5 | Zephyr: 3 | Destati: 2 | Adar: 2
At Destati's response, Zili released his held breath and looked a little calmer - though his ears still twitched at every sound around them. He was afraid of the phantoms and justifiably so. They were silent and deadly and he...he was not. "That's good news," he said at last, "I'd like to say I'm happy to see you, but after last time, seeing you might lead to seeing more..." he trailed, realising how weak that made him sound. He should take this as a bonus. He was with Destati again and there was no danger present.
Then, at Destati's question, the black lion staartled a little and turned his head back to see Xochi there at his flank. Her curious smile was momentarily disturbed by something catching her eye, however, and she turned her face away.
Zili, in quieter tones, said; "uh, yes. That's the one. Still my friend though. That's all." Of course, it was clear from his wording that he wished it was not just friendship. Maybe he could talk to her a little about his time with Destati - not including all the blood and gore, of course. That might earn him some glory points in her eyes. However, when he turned, she was moving off at some pace and he looked after her forlornly.
"I'm...I'm struggling to fit in with the Stormborn," Zili admitted then, letting his ears droop. "I don't think I'm really cut out for all of this."
---
Xochipepe had spotted Adar.
A dark lion, moving like a shadow not far from where she had stood behind Zili. He was acting with intent. Efficient. Professional. Suspicious. Not willing to let him get away she burst into a run - the sound of her paws likely alerting him long before she caught up enough to speak.
"What are you doing?" she asked, half accusation and half curious. "I don't think you'll be finding any of those plants near here."
"You aren't?" Destati inquired and nodded for the black lion to follow him. He'd been idle for too long and to remain standing as he was, would simply look like he was overseeing the proceedings rater than being useful. Granted, he would have been able to imply that he was overseeing his unit, but he still wasn't inclined to stand idly when there was something to do.
"And why would that be?" he asked, glancing over his shoulder with a raised brow. "If my understanding of that pride is correct, it is flexible enough to ensure that the vast majority fit in," he pursed his lips thoughtfully. "Unless you are referring to this particular profession, and have yet to investigate the others that might be open to you," he flicked his gaze briefly towards Xochi and afforded a rather weak smile.
...If there was one thing he couldn't give, it was advice in love.
"Perhaps it is her who is blind in that respect," he said finally and shrugged his shoulders. "She isn't yet ready to settle," he added. Whether Zili should wait around forever would be something for him to determine, Destati wouldn't comment on this. He wasn't sure of his own fate in that respect, let alone anyone else's!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alas, if Adar had hoped that he would be left to his own devices it seemed that this was not to be the case. He was aware that Destati had warned him there would be though who would not let him wander about. There would be those who were nosy, those who didn't know any better, and to say that Adar knew this would prove fatal to a fair number of them was an understatement. Perhaps on this occasion, Xochi would be joining those ranks, gods knew that she was lippy enough to deserve it.
"I do not answer to you," he replied simply and strode forward, choosing to ignore the lioness. Her accusatory tone and her curiosity, were both easily dismissed by the lion who had little to no regard for anyone other that those he served under. It was with that in mind that he continued on his way, walking passed several of the plants the pride sought in the process...Tethys: 5 | Suu'marle: 5 | Havase: 5 | Zephyr: 3 | Destati: 3 | Adar: 3

Zili turned to follow the older lion and gave a small shrug at his enquiry, "This profession, I guess. I feel torn. To stay in the pride and never leave...would that be a waste? Would that make a mockery of the time you spent training me? And what of the--" he cut himself off at that, fearing that if he spoke of the phantoms then they might materialise before them. He felt selfish for wanting to hide instead of using his knowledge to help protect those who might become targets. Zili wanted to be a lion like Destati. Wanted to be courageous and heroic and...
...and what?
Noticeable?
"I don't think she'll ever be ready to settle. She is Stormborn without a doubt. They are her people as if she had been born there. I don't think I can offer her what she wants," he said that as if he knew. But how could he really when it was very likely that Xochipepe did not know herself. He saw her, then, trailing after another and he squinted into the light to try and figure out who it was. A dark lion, from the looks of it. His heart twisted in panic though he trampled it down as quickly as he could. He was getting paranoid. Everything was okay.
---
Xochipepe rolled her eyes at the response her query had gotten her. Well didn't he seem like a barrel of laughs? She gave a soft snort in reply and continued on after him, staying quiet for a time, watching his movements. He was a large looking lion with an intimidating air far different from her own shadow, Zili, and moved with a silent confidence that was intriguing.
This one was a warrior.
Or perhaps warrior was too grand a word? A killer? An assassin? "You're not searching for plants," it wasn't a question but she felt the need to word it out loud, "and if you're not searching for them, what are you searching for?" she smiled a little, "you looking for trouble? I think this pride already has enough, hm?"

"Well.. yes." The pale lioness couldn't disagree with what her tale had been deduced to - that was an impossible argument she'd start. Yawo couldn't even begin to build a defense for the pride that had literally only crawled free from the stone walls that protected them recently.. she just couldn't imagine the need or desire to devour plants like this either. Zephyr brought her back to center, she needed that.
Her lips pressed together briefly as she thought through the harsh tones of her mentor, or at least harsher tones than she was used to hearing from the pink lioness. "I won't exhaust myself, but I wouldn't necessarily write them off as akin to a lost cause." Perhaps she read the situation wrong, but that was what she had gotten from Zephyr "I think they can and will learn from this." Of course Rahisi had created a poor image of what could be expected, but she had spent some time with the members at least long enough to know that they won't take this lightly.
Then she held her breath, having never openly defied the opinions of the pink lioness suddenly settled upon her. She wasn't apologetic for her thoughts, nor did she shy away when she realized what she had said and instead she felt a little empowered - now if these lions failed to comprehend the lesson she'd be doomed to be known as the lioness that miss read a whole prides intelligence levels.Mti hadn't realized that he'd made a mistake until her petite face scrunched up into the most delightful looking look of disgust, then all of those naïve moments he'd spoken with ladies hit him at once - uh oh.
"Well I..."
Brief pause for thought.
"I mean..."
Welp - doomed, he was doomed.
"Damned ankle biter!" He snarled as he backed away from the assault, half hearted as it was he grew defensive. "Just watch or us giants might just sit on you small lions." Mti retorted losing his 'gentle giant' appearance fairly quickly and living up to his positions 'guard-like' state. His attitude quickly changed to one of amusement as he thought about a fight happening where he ended up sitting atop of her.. the opposing daydream to hers.
The conversation changed as he explained their situation.
"It is." He muttered, growing sad at the thought. The silence grew between them and little did he know she was having an internal war waged about whether or not to stick around - he just suspected it was either a respectful silence or an awkward silence that he didn't pick up on - it wouldn't be the first (he was bad at reading situations).
"Well that's a reasonable reason to come along and prod about for information." Mti considered what she had said about venturing over and silently mused about how dangerous such an undertaking could have been - it was a little foolish, but even from a distance the pride likely didn't seem harmful by any means. "Oh?" His green eyes opened up fairly wide at the offer laid out before him. "Really? Would you? I don't know how many paws they need in there with Rahisi... but I'm sure an additional pair of trained eyes couldn't go ignored?" He said, posing the statement more as a question for himself as he had heard that the lioness and lion attending to Rahisi were working fairly independently beyond each other.
"We'd appreciate the help."
He said, finally deciding it was a good idea regardless of what others may say.

Oh ho, looks like there was a fire hidden under his 'gentle giant' demeanor after all! Poseida couldn't help but let out a soft chuckle at his dramatic reaction. What greeted his snarl's challenge head-on was her own little impish smirk. Perhaps the air was different so close to the mountain, perhaps she had just finally lost her mind, either way she didn't feel scared or in any danger despite this imposing figure bearing down at her. In fact she was actually having a grand olde time. She had to wonder just what other secrets this mountain of a man hid behind his calm smile? Shoot, he did bring up a good point with his retort however. He did have a clear advantage in size and strength, but just as David took down Goliath she would just have to be clever if (or more accurately when) there ever was to come a day they decided to actually see who would win out in a match. "Try it and see what happens. Even if you pin me I still have teeth, sir." She gave a few click of her teeth together to further emphasize her point. "And even if I'm stuck under you there are still quite a few very sensitive spots that only small lions can reach that I can take advantage of." The playful mood between the two quickly sobered up as he fully explained the reality of the situation at hand. "Well our scouts seemed to have been a bit lax when it came to their duties so someone needed to head up and get to the truth of the matter." If only just to shut up the bored gossips of her clan before their poor heads popped off. "We never could have expected this however, nor I would imagine could you if it's that serious."There was a brief flash of surprise that dashed across her features before her expression returned back to it's normal cold neutrality. "Of course, it would be heartless not to offer to assist in any way I can. Perhaps we should go ask the ones who are in charge of providing your medical care the best use of my skill set?" "Well then, let's not waste anymore time with silly games." Stepping back from him she lifted a paw to gesture towards the busy pride center. "Please, lead the way mister..." Oh. My. Gods. She had forgotten to get his name! She had threatened the man and lent her services to his pride but she still hadn't managed to properly introduce herself! Her cheeks flushed brightly with a pink glow. "I'm so, so sorry! Where are my manners?!" She spattered out. Taking in a deep breath to calm her nerves she once again forced a mild smile on her face. "I'm Poseida, and who do I have the pleasure of having as my personal welcoming committee/guide today?"

"His name is Adar-malik," Destati remarked as he followed Zili's gaze towards Xochi. "He serves under me," he added with a wry smile. He wasn't a mind reader, but he was acutely aware that the lion had seen a considerable amount in his company. Adar's unfortunate colouring, even at a half glance, might very well be enough to unsettle him. It wouldn't be the first or last time that it would be exploited either, but for now, Zili didn't need to feel uneasy... The one he admired was safe, and Destati was certain that she would remain so regardless of how infuriated Adar might become.
"And should our visitors choose to appear here then you can be rest assured that there is more than one individual here capable of greeting them," his smile was wry as he motioned towards Havase and Suu'marle, who were still under the eye of his son, and then to Adar. "The pride would not be on its own on this occasion," he paused. It was an opportunity for the words to settle in before he continued, approaching a different topic.
"Where I come from, not everyone is a warrior," he said slowly and cast his gaze back towards the black lion. "There are soldiers, there are medics, there are those who simply act as musicians or merchants. Each individual holds a unique position in society and ultimately, we cannot function without them," he shrugged his shoulders. "I have no doubt that those who don't explore the open lands are still useful, and still play a key role in society," he raised a brow. "My daughter would be an example of that," he pointed out. "To my knowledge her kind aren't supposed to leave unless there are exceptional circumstances, that in mind, what is to stop you from finding your true calling?"
He paused once more.
"Your lady may desire adventure, which she gets from this, but that doesn't mean she doesn't want something to come home to," he pursed his lips. "Do you even know what she wants?" he asked at last and raised a brow. "Or are we basing this all on assumptions?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What was it with lionesses and not going away.
Adar's jaw hardened as the red lioness insisted on following him; he had his duty and yet, one again, he found these vikings sticking their noses in. It certainly made life difficult for him, in the grand scheme of things, if he couldn't gather information then they were all scuppered. Unsurprisingly, her decision to state the obvious received a rather disgusted look and then she was promptly dismissed. He wasn't one for manners, and she might wish to observe him all she wanted, but that didn't mean she'd receive her answers.
Instead, as if to add insult to injury, he rather easily selected one of the plants that was being sought and flicked it towards her.
"If you are truly so intrigued," he uttered and narrowed his eyes. "Then ask the Justicar," he stated darkly and continued on his way. Either she would take that bait and bother Destati, or he would just have an inquisitive and loud lioness potentially interrupting whatever individuals might be hidden in the warrens. In which case, he wasn't going to find anything anyway! "We'll see," Zephyr responded with such a simple statement that it wasn't entirely clear if the lioness had taken offence at Yawo's tone, or had simply accepted it. As it stood, the pride didn't stand in a particularly good light, but from a cultural point of view there was every chance they didn't know how to question. Perhaps in their culture they weren't permitted to question a superior, someone of authority who knew 'more than them', so even against their better judgement they might have conceded?
She didn't know exactly what had occurred in those moments, regardless of how utterly foolish they might have been.
"They will either learn from it or they will fall to it," she shrugged her shoulders. "Regardless, in such numbers they cannot come to the Bahari, we don't have the resources to tend to them all," she pointed out. "Just keep that in mind," she added. The Bahari didn't often turn away those who needed help, but if an entire pride was sick (or about to become sick), they really didn't have the bandwidth to save them. Suffice it to say, Yawo would be on her own for the duration of this one!Tethys: 5 | Suu'marle: 5 | Havase: 5 | Zephyr: 4 | Destati: 4 | Adar: 4
He looked a little sheepish when Destati gave a name to the dark lion with Xochipepe and tried not to look too affected by it - though he failed miserably. If he served under Destati then he was likely a seasoned fighter - though that made him worry in an entirely different way. He was quiet a long time, listening to his teacher's voice and absorbing the words as an eager student does. The lion was right, of course, he could still be useful even if he wasn't chasing a captain across the rogue lands into some adventure or other.
"I guess, maybe, I need to take a step back and consider what I want..." other than her, of course, but it was his chasing of Xochipepe that was seeing him throwing away his own happiness to try and be someone he wasn't. To try and fit what he thought was the kind of lion she wanted. The realisation hit him hard and for a moment his throat felt too tight to speak. He watched her silently at a distance and then, with a small nod, said; "assumptions. Mostly." But he didn't see that look in her eye when they caught each other's gaze.
"I'll have to properly introduce you, sometime...just...uh, don't let on that I have a thing for her." He gave an awkward sort of laugh and realised, suddenly, that he had forgotten to look for herbs again. Hopefully others had not been as lax as he.
---
The plant landed on one of her paws - which she raised to inspect before giving it a dismissive flick and sending it back to the dirt. Still, despite his apparent moodiness, she followed on - though she ensured she stayed in sight of the others just in case. "Well, perhaps I would if I knew what a Justicar was."
She glanced about as if expecting one to jump out at her -- for better or worse, they didn't.
"The way you're acting, I'm surprised it isn't you. What with your moody, superiority and all." Perhaps he was trying to throw her off the scent. Telling her lies. Still, if he wasn't supposed to have been here someone else would have noticed by now and raised the alarm. He probably wasn't doing anything that he shouldn't. Probably.
She gave a sigh and leaned into her brothers hug. "Everyone grieves in their own way, I'll kinda be looking forward to hearing what he has to say about her." She said softly as she continued to lean into his warm embrace. It was times like these stories were often looked forward to. When he mentioned Imrahil she pulled back a little and rubbed her leg shyly. She wasn't entirely aware that it was obvious how she felt towards him and quite possibly he towards her. He just happened to make that valid and she was slightly embarrassed but at the same time she was relieved. "Don't worry, I'll leave most of the heavy leaning to you." She said playfully giving him a wink. She was glad to have Imrahil, more than she realized. "I'm sure they'll be pleased to get a nice hull so far. The more we find the more we should be able to help out others in the future." She said looking at what they had collected so far. "I'm going to look around for some more stuff before bringing them anything." She said with a light laugh. "What is there to object?" She said looking towards Thalea and her brother as they talked. It was such a sad thing to have happened to the family. "I just wasn't sure you'd have anything to say about the matter." He said with a small shrug towards Akiko.
The smirk he received in response to his snarl tempered the giant back to his gentle self and he smiled in return. "I'll have to remind myself to get some protective gear for when I'm around the likes of you." A giggle erupted from him. Did he just giggle? Bringing himself bac to center Mti found a smirk that better suited him, a smirk that quickly faded as their conversation turned to a more serious note.
"You'll need to properly discipline your scouts." He snorted in brief disgust. "Laziness to that degree shouldn't go unpunished." Clearly work ethic was important to the giant - he loved his duties and wanted nothing more than to see his pride succeed so he did all that he could and expected no less from anyone else. "Unfortunately you're right, this all came as a surprise to us - especially considering the uses we had for the plants." His eyes lowered, he wasn't deaf, he'd heard what some of the outlanders had been saying regarding the errors of their ways.. needless to say he felt some shame.
"I'll introduce you to Unyawo`Olulula, one of the individuals monitoring Rahisi - she can likely pass you along to her companion that is helping out." He offered, not realizing they hadn't exchanged names as of yet. "I'd be happy to lead the way..." The sentence was supposed to end with her name, but of course he hadn't gotten the damned thing - realizing this to late he almost sighed with relief when it seemed she realized the same thing.
"Poseida, what a lovely name." He flushed softly, becoming moderately shy. "My name is Mti`imara."
"Come this way." He said, getting passed giving his name as smoothly as it could possibly go.
It seemed she'd skirted a possible issue this time, perhaps a one off chance - though it could come back to bite her in the a** later, but that was definitely future Yawo's problem. "Agreed." Was all she could say at first as the cogs turned round in her brain, this pride had her scratching her head and she was struggling with not agreeing on the other matter with Zephyr. This was a unique chance.
When Zephyr spoke again Yawos blue eyes raised.
"You're right about that. Hopefully this'll be a growing experience for the lot of them." Yawo couldn't match her partners shrug though. "I understand." Were the words she heard herself say out loud. But the pale lioness grew numb with the reality that she had to face this alone as a representative of the Bahari. Two things that were huge - both were huge opportunities that would make or break her future within the pride. Part of her wanted to beam, the other was calming her pride down a few notches in preparation of possible failure.
Epine de Rose Can probably switch off and have the doctor come for a chat?
"When I'm ready to talk I'll seek you out." He admitted in the most grown up voice he could muster - the whole event was still a shock to him that he'd found himself restless and tired. The words that left his mouth were dry and he felt a little lifeless himself. "I agree." He said in response to her desire to hear stories.
Brotherly duties shone through though and he smirked slightly as she spoke. "Good, that better be the case." He said with his smirk growing into a grin, it seemed he'd have plenty of chances to tease his sister about her newest 'love'. He hoped that she'd found someone, in all of this it'd be lovely to celebrate a couple.
She was strangely relived and yet a bit disappointed that her lighthearted response had dismissed his more furious side. It had been interesting to see a glimpse at what lay hidden underneath that calm exterior, but on the other hand it probably was in her best interest not to keep poking this sleeping giant. His comment about protective gear did draw out a amused snort from her as she rolled her eyes. Unless he decked himself out in a full body suit of armor she had a sneaking feeling that it would be easy to find different ways to slip past his defenses and strike. Ah, but as much as that image was amusing it wasn't mean to be. She knew that she wouldn't be sticking around long after the need for her assistance was over. Frankly she highly doubted that after they parted ways today that she would even see this gentlemen ever again. "Heh, I'll pass the message along when I get back home. Hopefully the threat of meeting someone like you will end up straightening their asses back in line." She had to agree that the scouts had been especially lazy as of late. But alas it wasn't within her power to reprimand them beyond a few pointed stares and choice words. Her head tilted slightly to the side at his almost self-wallowing shame. This was a tragedy, was it not? It wasn't as if they had gone and played with fire then complained when they had gotten burned. " The plants had a use before they had poisoned you?" Her head lowered as she tapped a paw against the bottom of her chin. "How often was this certain plant used? Was it not tested before general use with the public?" Her emerald eyes trailed back up to meet his own pale eyes. Her face lit up for a brief moment with a bright flush before she willed it away with a dismissive shake. "Oh, thank you so much." Smiling mildly she gave a respectful nod of her head his way. "Mti`imara? That's a lovely name as well! I know this might be a strange question but does it mean anything?" It sure sounded like it meant something important at the very least! Without any argument she began to follow him. The only problem was is that even with his slow stride she still had to practically sprint to be able to keep up side-by-side with him. "I don't believe I've -" Stopping she took in a few panted breaths before pressing forward again. "Said this yet but....thank you again for escorting me, I'm sure I -" Another panting breaking. " Would still be wandering around lost had you not come up to inquire my purpose here. I...couldyoumaybeslowdown?"
The snort that followed his comment was amusing in itself and he caught a giggle that threatened to escape and exchanged it for a full laugh. Though he pictured himself quite differently with a full protective suit that allowed mobility and saved the bits he didn't want to be dined upon.
"Hey, just pick a time and I'll gladly go on patrol to startle the snot out of them." He smirked devilishly while knowing full well just how big of a fellow he was, sometimes that was enough to deter beings from coming nearby, especially if he actually played the part of serious looking defender of the mountains. "I mean, just if you want a show to go along with your threat." A small blush grew on his cheeks and faded just as quickly as he realized that he'd put himself right into her idea - oops.
Suddenly he felt defensive as the lioness prodded him for information. "When used by the other pride members it would have been diluted extremely - Rahisi had been toying with these plants of hers for some time now and I guess that was enough for everyone. The plants had a sweet flavor and so we didn't think anything of it, I suppose." Mti's eyes dropped to the ground, the shame he felt was only because the points brought up by the outlanders were valid, but what had been done was done - so his shame was useless. "I can't say how often it was used, I believe she used it primarily to flavor water and some meats. She was the only lioness, beyond her son - that I know of - to have eaten the plant in its raw form."
"You're pretty when you.." Stahp Mti.. The words were already out, the damage would have already been done, but his brain had told him to stop it anyhow. So a blush of his own had formed and didn't get much better when he'd been asked about his name - growing up no one had asked, but he knew what could come of it, joke wise. Still the word vomit continued to flow and caused him to ache a little when he answered her. "Solid wood." He paused. "My, uh, name.. means solid wood. Yours?" Nope, he didn't actually care what her name meant, but it deflected some of the shock that could come with a name meaning like his.
Also nope, he wasn't paying attention to his stride - guards he'd been training just learned to pick up the pace or ship off to another for attention so his pace here was no different. That was until she stopped and gave him heck - it was then that he realized she had even been speaking. "Oh. I'm sorry." His eyes lit up as a smile grew on his face. "Poor wittle legs." His smile became a smirk. "We're almost there anyhow." Mti could see Yawo ahead, speaking with a pink lioness.
"Ha! If you actually came down there two things would happen: the children would get nightmares for months and the gossiping hens who are single would fawn over you." He would certainly be a hit amongst the caravan, though not for the reasons she suspected he imagined. The little trick wouldn't last very long if the poor man was suddenly swamped with eager females looking for a strong male to warm their dens for a night! "Though perhaps if you dressed in drag and attempted it then you could really strike terror into the hearts of all our guards and scouts! Just think of the word spreading throughout the low lands 'World's ugliest female terrorizes defenseless caravan. Many left forever scarred as a result' what a tale it would be for generations to come." She was taken back at his sudden defensiveness. Her ears visibly drooped back as she took a step backwards. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean any offence. I'm just interested in learning more about the case so I can have a better understanding of what exactly happened." It seemed like the circumstances of which the poison had been spread seemed like a touchy subject to say the least. She made a quick note to hold off any further questions regarding the poisons until she was speaking with a fellow alchemist. Hopefully they would be able to provide a more unbiased assessment of the situation. Oh, oh mmmyy. If he thought her blush was pretty before than he certainly would enjoy it's rapid return, this time in absolute full force. She looked closer to a tomato with a lion's body more than anything. Who knew to get a coat color change all you needed to do was get complemented by an attractive male? Clearing her throat she elected to spare both of them the added embarrassment of acknowledging his little slip-up. She was never more thankful for a subject change in her entire life! "I know that this is improper to ask and probably overdone however," Sucking in a deep breath she ran a paw down the side of her neck, trying her best to calm her fluttering nerves. "Did your mother name you after the night of your conception, or did she just have high hopes for your future, or is this one of these prides that names based off of...particular achievements?" Oh no, he wasn't going to be able to throw her off her game that easily! This exact moment was a perfect chance to show her 100% dry, serious, and mature sense of humor. She shot him a pointed glare as she worked to catch back up with him. Wrinkling her nose up again she finally continued on passed him, putting a sizable chunk of distance away from him so she would have more wiggle room before he caught back up with her again. "Unless you're offering to carry me the rest of the way do try not to keep up." She called back over her shoulder.
