Looking Travis's cheeks puffed like a hamster was an amusing scene. It might be kinda surprising that Ace actually read books from time to time when he wanted to find the answers for something. "Which fruit is your favourite?" He wasn't against the idea of fruits, and blueberries were not too sweet to get out of his range of taste.

Travis was doing his very best to finish the blueberry cake. "Hm?" He again had to actually swallow before answering. "Apples. All kinds of apples. They are really, really good in pie." And Travis LOVED pie. Don't even get him started on pie. "Which fruit do you like?" It was too bad Ace didn't like sweets, because if he did, Travis could put his favorite fruit in a pie for him. Such a shame. Though Travis just might forget and make the man a pie anyway... when he found out where to borrow an oven.

"Chili." The man gave an unexpected answer when he noted Travis loved apple and might be pie as well. "Apples.....Um, they're quite juicy." Sourness is not a taste he would fond of, but at least he won't reject it. Ace had not much preferences over foods besides those sweet and spicy. For him, food was something good to have, and gave him energy he needed. "If I see some apple desserts, I can get you one or two pieces." With the good weather, he felt quite relaxed. Since they started something about themselves, he thought it might be a good idea to continue. "How about animals? Which's your favourite?"

"Chili?" Travis was wondering if Ace was joking again. Chili wasn't a fruit. He was giving Ace a strange look, trying to figure out if he was serious. Then Ace mentioned doing him a favor, and Travis decided everything was fine. "Oh, I that would be great. I can repay you the cost, if needed." Travis would never turn down apple desserts. Never. "Animals? Oh, uh," Travis had to think for a second, "I suppose if I had to pick I'd say it was a polar bear. They are all big and tough and stuff. What's your favorite?"

Travis didn't stop to amuse him, even he wasn't intended to make a joke. He did ask a question but never think of the answer. "Me? Um......" He mused. "I haven't really thought about it." It took him a while but he gave an answer. "Cats maybe, they're fickle but charming." The feline had reminded him of a girl. "Polar bear's not bad also. They're wonderful beasts."

"Heh," Travis made a sound that showed he agreed. "Cats ARE super fickle. My Grandpa had a this great big old cat that would sometimes want to sit on your lap and purr all nice, and then the next moment she'd turn around and try to scratch you to death. Never could understand it." He nodded again. "See, with a polar bear you KNOW it might want to eat you. With a cat it's just a mystery." He paused. "Did you have any pets growing up?"

"You're not wrong." Ace chuckled casually. "Girls are sometimes like that too, if you know. Isn't it a great satisfaction when you make them like you?" He however didn't specified what them he refer to. He simply shook his head at the pet question. "Nah, no pet in orphanage. I did have one or two girlfriends who kept pets like hedgehog or turtle." He turned to look at Travis and threw the question back. "How's your family like?" The concept of family was vague to an orphan like Ace, he didn't care much but it wasn't bad to know.

Travis had to chuckle. "I guess they can be." He'd always had friends that were girls, and yeah, sometimes he didn't understand them. Sometimes he didn't understand guys either, but that was beside the point. Cats, however, he NEVER understood. "It is," he said, thinking about how it felt when a cat actually just purred and didn't' try to kill you. "It is." Surprise covered Travis's face at the mention of an orphanage. "Oh." The whole concept caught him a little off guard. "Well, uh," he looked down at nothing in particular, "my Grandpa raised me. My mom died when I was still a kid. I always had family, though. Usually just me and Grandpa. Sometimes my aunt and her kids would come visit." He shrugged. He looked at Ace, wanting to ask for details about him - but wondering if it would be rude.

The haunt felt the need to clarify that to her husband. "That sounds like a warm family, you must miss them." Ace'd wanted to check his nail paint but realized he was wearing gloves, so he averted his attention from his hand and moved upward.
A quick glance made him realized Travis was hesistated on something. He therefore flashed a smile. "You wanna say something? Just go ahead, I won't bite."

He did miss them. Well, his mom and his grandpa. He'd never cared much for his stepdad. "I do, I guess, but Mom and Grandpa are both gone now so it's not like there's much to miss about home." He shrugged in an effort to brush it all away. You didn't have to tell Travis twice. He took the permission and started asking everything. "What about your family? Before the orphanage? What was the orphanage like?"

Sensing Travi's refusal to talk further, Ace didn't force him. Instead, he smiled and replied the Moon trainee's question. "The staff told me I was dumped in front of the orphanage, like some cheesy movie sort. The orphanage's condition wasn't bad, it got people's donation from time to time. It's full of kids and the staff were doing what they should do, not warm not cold." His words of the orphanage in the tone of a third person, as if he hadn't lived in there for years. "Life was plain, we were not allowed to leave the orphanage and repeated things were performed every day." Ace gave Travis a smile to tell him he wasn't upset about that before he spoke again. "I'm not satisfied or discontented about it, but the bed was too small for me, not to say how packed it was."

"Oh, wow." That was some pretty heavy stuff. Dropped off as a baby, whole life living without your family... Wow. Travis wasn't sure how to feel, since Ace seemed neither happy nor sad about most of it. For some reason, the way the Sun talked about it made Travis respect him a bit more. "I, uh, don't think it sounds like a cheesy movie. But still a movie for sure." It was supposed to be...not a compliment but Travis was trying to say he didn't think it was a bad life. He had to chuckle. "I bet the bed was too small. You're tall, man."

"Exactly!" Ace pointed a finger at Travis. "Even I can curl like a shrimp, I was the tallest among the kids, my feet always not covered by the blanket and winters were quite cold. It might be the only thing he really mind, "Do you know the bed in basement was small as well? Luckily I found a solution to it." He raised a smug smirk. He didn't mention how his uniqueness had made all the kids scared of him, because Travis had no need to know that. However, if he had a choice, he'd prefer staying around with people to being alone himself. That was much more fun. Grifferie You should be sleeping D:

Travis could just imagine Ace all curled up under a tiny blanket on a tiny bed shivering. Very much just like a movie. "I see." He wasn't sure he should comment too much. Luckily, Ace gave him more to think about. "I bet it is small. I know mine would be too small for someone as tall as you. How did you fix yours?" He was quiet curious about anything that would make the basement rooms better. "Which room are you in, by the way?" Were they neighbors? Meegane I went to bed shortly after tagging everyone! <33333

"I still kept my basement room, but I was lucky enough to find a roomate with larger room upstair and allowed to share his bed under some rules." Ace made a big grin about it. "I only went there after sunset normally, so before that, I could be found in my basement room." He'd told Travis his room number if he asked. He mused a bit, "I heard that in the direction of the abandoned towns, there were some small houses for hunters who don't want to live in dormority."
