Shaddaling
"Seriously? Because she's been so much help so far." Lukas snorted. Nonetheless, he still looked around to see if their watery lady-friend still hung around. She floated just in front of the submerged vehicle and met his eyes at his even stare. She has no damn eyelids, he thought absently. When she made no move at his words, though, he shrugged. "Nope, thought not," he muttered. "It's all us, Lex. Sorry."
Looking down at the two at his feet again, Lukas huffed a sigh. This was going to be really awkward. "Damn. Okay. Let's get this over with, I guess." He crouched and, with a grimace and soft grunts, he managed to get one of his kids slung over his shoulder, his arm wrapped around the young man's waist to stabilize him against his own body. Then he motioned to the petite woman still on the lake-bed.
"Can you help get her up against my hip? I'm going to see if I can manage to get upwards with both. I might have to come back if we have to swim instead of just walking to shore."
