"Is this bloody forest loaded with fighting types of some kind?" I mused. So far, a football player monkey and a boxer crab. I haven't the words to be honest. Then again, it left me to wonder where all of these Pokemon tend to hail from? As I continued to research the dex, my instincts took notice to something close by.
I turned around, seeing the Passimian from earlier, giving a few snorts, doing short hops up and down in place, practically psyching itself up in a round-about way. ".....hi?" I looked around then walked off, only to be beaned by the round shaped coconut that it had in hand upside my head. "GAH!" I looked back for a second, quickly picking up the coconut and tossing it right back at the Passimian, rather hard in fact, scaring the white ape off. "MONKEY SEE, MONKEY DO, MY HIDE! Little b*****d...gah...my head..." I said, rubbing the back of my head, going back to walking off.

Seeing... some other unidentified Pokemon running around that she didn't know, Amaranth decided to leave the Yungoos be and go off to another part of the Isolated Island. She'd eventually end up at the beach during her exploration.

"Woah a Grubbin, Jezebel might like this one. What do you say Rockruff? Want to have a go at it?" Rockruff jumped in front of Arkelos ready to battle.
"Alright Rockruff, lets get this started. Throw some rocks, lets force it underground."
With a fierce look Rockruff takes up a large rock and throws it at Grubbin, after throwing a couple of more, the Grubbin spits out a string shot hitting a couple of rocks as well as Rockruff. Immediately afterwards burrows underground.
"Alright Rockruff, now is your chance, wait for an opening and strike with Rocktomb." Silence fell upon the battlefield, a slow shiver crept up Arkelos' spine. When it reached the base of his neck, they sprang into action. "NOW!" Rockruff leaped into the air with rocks, pebbles, and debris, combined with grubbin's dig created all that was needed to use Rocktomb.
Rockruff jumped onto every rock, using gravity and force to bury Grubbin in a grave of rocks. "Excellent work." Rockruff fell onto the rocks and joined Arkelos, only to be caught off guard. "What the-!?"
From the pile of rubble comes several mud shots, three of them hitting Rockruff from behind. "Rockruff, are you okay!?" Getting back onto its feet it growls with a nob. "Can you still fight?" Again Rockruff nods. "Okay, you're doing great. Keep up with it."
The Grubbin crawls out from the pile. With a hiss, it launch another attack using X-scissor. "Rockruff, knock it down a notch." Jumping in the air takes few boulders with it, pushing them downward toward the Grubbin. trapping it on all sides. Grubbin uses endure in desperation. Rockruff's jaw ignite in flames, and locks down on the Grubbin.
The Grubbin lies there for a moment breathing, "Rockruff stand down." It let go of the Grubbin, watching it very closely. "Alright than one shot, one chance." Lets hope this counts. Arkelos said throwing his first Safari ball.

The pokemon broke free
"Dang, lets try that again." Stopping in his tracks Arkelos and Rockruff looked around to find that the Grubbin is gone. "Where did that sneaky b*****d run off too?" After a few minutes of looking they found a hole in the ground. "Well it must have run off, Well lets see if we can find anything else in this Forest. Great job rockruff, here is some berries to help with your wounds."
Rockruff took to the berries graciously
"What's that?" Arkelos asked as another pokemon showed up.

I continued on into the main area of the Island Forest. After making a Passimian run off for the time being, I continued on walking the path I managed to find, all the while rubbing the spot where I got nailed earlier. "Blasted monkey..." I said. "Ugh, I swear...things like that works on my nerves quite hard."
I took notice to the nearby bushes rustling, and out in front of me, another Pokemon, slender looking for the most part, not too unlike a Linoone, for instance. The face though looks like something out of a Pac-Man nightmare. I took out the SNAG and started to look it over. "Yungoos. Huh...this place must be full of rare pokemon...or common if its native in these parts...that reminds me..." I went on to search the general area of these Pokemon only to discover something that kind of made me sick to my stomach. "...oh..." I said. "Never thought that...bah...as long as I don't go there..." I said, stashing the SNAG and continued on, leaving the Yungoos alone for now.

Another search, another odd Pokemon that Amaranth didn't know. Still opting to just leave the odd lizard Pokemon be, she'd look elsewhere along the beach.

Luckily, she'd find something a little more familiar. A Stunfisk. Turning in another direction to avoid stepping on it, she continued looking around the beach. She was beginning to like the view here, oddly enough.

I continued on, practically combing this untamed island forest for whatever there is in there. There wasn't much to write home about that I could tell, no offense to any of the Pokemon to be sure, but I was becoming increasingly convinced that there were nothing but brutes within this forest. As I made my way through, I ended up finding a forest full of willows and a howling chirping noise was made close by.
I looked up and took notice to a violet colored bird. "....?" Taking out the SNAG once again I managed to end up finding the entry. "...Oricorio...hmm...bird comes in variants...and this...is a ghost one?" I asked, staring in confusion for a second. "Interesting. Well, nice to see this place having some contrast. How about some more of things like that..." I said, making my way off deeper into the forest, leaving the bird to its own devices.

I continued onward, exploring the area about the forest. After seeing the Oricorio, things looked a little hopeful in trying to finding something rather nice. Perhaps, in hind sight, I probably should have brought Tristen along for the ride in this excursion. Then again, he's only got what...eight Pokemon now and he has the hardest time in the world juggling them. He should try juggling my roster.
Another rustling in bushes close by. A Yungoos, I guessed again. But...actually no. It was...a Rattata. That much I could tell...I think? It seemed to be a bit on the heavier set side...and a brownish-black tone compared to its standard purple. Perhaps a shiny? No...that doesn't seem right. I took out my SNAG, staring in confusion. Was I going nuts? "Hmm...it is a Rattata alright...Alolan variant..." I said to myself as I watch the Rattata take its leave from my sight. "For a second there, I thought I made my way into the twilight zone. Seriously, over a Rattata of all things...yeech. A freakin' Rattata..." I shook my head over the notion and continued onward. As much as I started using the SNAG in this trip, I decided to keep it on hand. Who knows, I might find something else strange.

A cursory glance revealed a Krabby scuttling along the beach's sands, nothing to worry about. Keeping quiet and letting the crab go about its business, Amaranth continued looking around.

As Sub and Scraggy fled from the murderous Mimikyu the pair would make it as far as the lower deck of the boat before the trainer tripped and hit the ground hard, his Pokemon sent flying as he lost his grip on the Shedding Pokemon. "Oof! Sorry!" He called out to his Pokemon who had just hit the floor its self.
The man would stand back up, attempting to wring out his shirt a bit after realizing he fell into a small puddle. As he looked back to see what he tripped off he noticed that a hole in the ship had let the ocean in and a mass of seaweed had washed inside, which is what he tripped over.
"Stupid seaweed..." Sub muttered he turned to walk away, only for a metal chain to shoot out of the water and wrap around his leg, pulling and sending him falling to the ground again. "What the heck!?" Sub shouted as he attempted to free himself from said chain as it pulled him towards the water.
"Dhelmiiiise!" Moaned the owner of the chain as an anchor wrapped in seaweed floated to the surface of the water.
The chain around Sub's ankle would begin to glow green, the man feeling his strength slowly leaving him. It was using Giga Drain, attempting to sap the life right out of him.
"Don't just stand there! Do something!" He shouted to his Scraggy who was literally just standing right behind him, watching the weird sentient anchor thing drain his trainer of his very life force.
Scraggy would let out a sigh before it decided to act, rushing towards the chain and grabbing a hold of it. The Shedding Pokemon would open its mouth wide as it began to glow with dark energy, the young Pokemon then proceeding to Crunch down on the chain. Almost immediately the anchor Pokemon would let go of Sub, giving off a pained moaned as it pulled its chain back and retreated into the water. It really did not like that.
"You were just gonna let that thing turn me into a lifeless husk, weren't you?" Sub said as he glared at his Pokemon. Scraggy just gave a shrug and began to walk off. What a jerk.

Continuing on with my excursion, things started to look relitively normal now. Well, if you could call that Rattata back there normal. Didn't necessarily expect that regardless. I started to research the dex some more and come to find out that the Rattata, and by extension, its evolution weren't the only ones that had some oddball variants. For instance, an Icy Vulpix. Suddenly imagined Tails like that...then stopped, thinking he would perhaps kill me if a) he knew what they were, and b) just for thinking it. Nevertheless, it left me to wonder if there was any out here, but considering what it was saying in the dex entry, doubt it. I'd needed to be up in some high-up mountains or something of that sort.
Up in the trees, I started to notice another bird. Upon looking at the SNAG, it was another Oricorio, only Red this time instead of the violet before. "...Fire type, huh? Interesting...hmm." I walked off, leaving the bird alone, reading up on how they get to be their various types.

As I read along the dex entry for Oricorio, I was starting to get a understanding of their being. Apparently they change forms, per say, and their types depending on some special nectars from certain plants. Considering I saw two different Oricorio, I can assume that these particular plants are around here somewhere. Each nectar has a different quality which makes them into a different variant, and for that matter, remarkably fight considerably different between each other. That is honestly pretty neat, the more that I thought about it.
I stopped for a moment when I heard a loud, somewhat echoing cry nearby. I took a look around, then took notice to more nearby trees. Well that was a familiar sight. Venonat. Common enough where I'm from though. Not really interested, though I got to admit, they are quite the vile little bastards. Various powders from them, especially of the poison variety really makes them a pain to contend with at times if trained right. Come to think of it though, if there's venonat here, chances are maybe Venomoth...and perhaps bunches of them for that matter. Not something I want to take a chance with with a mostly inexperienced party if they start swarming.
I stopped and realized something. "At this rate, I'm not getting any training in and this is going to turn into nothing more than a sight-seeing tour. Crap." I said to myself, only to finally continue on.

As Amaranth continued to walk around the beach, she'd see a Goldeen flop out of the water and go back in. Nothing unusual, she figured. She'd just keep walking as normal.
