"What? Unpredictable? Sure, if a deer falls out of ze ******** sky and —"

Most muscles in Lexington's body seized upon being singled out, and his mind worked dumbly to process a response in English. He considered passing off his response in pure German and acting the fob part, but Lex half-expected his companion to bust him for it. Teeth ground as he looked for a response.

"Ah," he swallowed, "wis' people coming into ze site - regular people - what excuse would you haf' us use? If a group comes and splits up, zey're going to get suspicious if each of zem is turned away wis' a different story." He waited casually for his blood to start flowing again.

There was a barely perceptible jump as Anerica's attention turned suddenly his way, but Zeke just smiled back at her, unhelpfully, letting Lex ask the question he'd tried to avoid asking earlier. Fun times.

{You are the worst sort.}. Lagertha didn't sound surprised, nor bothered, and Zeke's only response was a broadening of his grin.

Oliver had barely tossed the candy in his mouth when the firm hand landed on his back. He nearly choked before awkwardly coughing the candy back into his mouth. It too was crunched thoroughly in order to clear his mouth.

"Ah, A-Aro!" He squeaked, cheeks slightly red. "I-I wasn't in bed..."

He saw the familiar sweater-clad arms wrapping around Aro's waist before he heard Lydia's greeting. "Hi Lydia," he replied with a little smile, leaning around his friend to see if he could catch a glimpse of her face. He couldn't lean far enough, Aro was just too much muscle.

"We usually go with either military operation, local hikers who know the area best, and experts investigating the area ourselves. The military thing is saved for more extreme cases, folks wandering here are usually hyped and paranoid as it is, no need to escalate it. We don't bother with a consistent story anymore. They did for a few months but found it caused wider interest in us. Long term, we'd rather be inconsistent with a small group than under investigation by a broad one."

After a moment of consideration she adds, "With your accent, I'd go with sciencey research fellow. Folks'll believe it, easy."

Arorangi beamed brightly at his best friend.

"And now you are here, and we will learn new things," he said grandly to Oliver, giving the other boy a firm shake and probably almost knocking him off of his feet. He slung a friendly arm around him and added, "What are you eating? Are you eating sweets again?"

Slender arms wrapping around his middle indicated that the pair of them were no longer alone. Arorangi would have known who it was without ever having to even look, but he twisted around anyway, grinning down at the top of Lydia's colorful head of hair.

"Aroha!" he said happily. "Kia ora. Now we are all here. Are you training as well?"

A tall man with a head of curly hair sidled over to the dark haired woman.

"Are you catching any of this?" Chance murmured, a lazy smile on his face as he stuck his hands in his pockets, eyes flickering around. "I missed the first half."

Too much muscle was never a bad thing, and since Lydia had zero intention on relinquishing her grip any time soon, she pressed her face against Aro's back and breathed in deeply, as if she could some how smell how amazingly well built he was.

And he was hers. All hers. Yep. That was still pretty amazing, to her.

"How are you today, Oliver?" She asked, and her voice was completely muffled by fabric, but she pulled away and looked up when Aro twisted around to look at her, and blinked.

"Training.....yes....." She said, slowly, eyes shifting left and right.

Gretchen jumped at the voice sounding beside her shoulder before turning to blink up at Chance. A smile was quick to follow. "You startled me." Though it didn't sound like she was upset about it, more just stating a fact.

At his question she glanced back towards the front, head tilting gently. "I think so, yes. This place is kinda like the island. Stuffs seepin' through from other worlds, and we've got'a keep humans from being hurt by it." Glancing up again, she gave the bench beside her an inviting little pat.

"And we're supposed to be paradin' about as reapers, 'stead of hunters." There was more to it than that, but she didn't want to miss what America was saying. She could fill Chance in a little more thoroughly later.

Oliver had learned an important lesson about Arorangi's companionable approaches. Just stay relaxed, keep loose, it's less likely you will fall over when you are shaken. He just wobbled, pushed enthusiastically back and forth while he unwrapped a third hard candy.

"Yeah, strawberry. Do you want one?" He asked in a quiet voice, mindful of the presentation going on. He held up not just one, but a handful that had been pulled from his pocket. Then leaned over again to try and address Lydia, "I'm good, have you seen anything interesting yet? Would you like a candy?"

Suddenly he raised a hand to catch America's attention, partially extracting himself from Arorangi's friendly hold. "Would you recommend we had a cover prepared then, just in case we run into regular civilians?"

Nodding, America answered, "Yeah, you should spend some time thinking about it before going out on any patrols. It'll be good practice, 'cause there'll be other times you run into civilians during a mission."

When the invitation came through, Caroline's response of immediate excitement had been something reminiscent of a child on their way to the coolest of summer camps. It wasn't summer, of course, and the cold weather would not really qualify the camp itself as cool, but none of this deterred her energy. She didn't need to be told twice to abandon her 'uniform' and any other indications of her current occupation, but pretending to be a reaper was still a little hard to stomach. Not so hard to stomach that she'd pass up going to camp for the first time in several decades, but still a little weird to think about.

She was still abuzz with delight as she arrived at the camp alongside the other attendees, her eyes bright and noticeably a bit too manic. The warmest article of clothing that she appeared to be wearing was a slightly oversized Emerston University hoodie, a lovingly kidnapped souvenir from her last venture near the border of Canada - otherwise, she was not particularly dressed for the climate, opting for short shorts, a casual pair of boots, and socks that went up to her thighs. She looked oddly comfortable and at home with the look, considering the fact that she resembled a counselor just one summer before college.

Through the majority of America's presentation so far, she maintained a pleasant smile and paid close and careful attention, giving her the respect she was confident that she deserved. It only faltered at the mention that FEAR could cause hallucinations, her expression sinking into a thoughtful frown. That was a troublesome thread to pull, attached to something that was barely held together anyway; if she was going to risk unraveling, this probably wasn't the time.

The few familiar faces - her kid, her kid's kid, some kids she'd adopted, a friend here and there - were noted, and greeted with a smile if they met her gaze. But her attention was ultimately on America, leaving all of them to either wait or approach her on their own.

Arorangi felt small flutters of happiness welling in his stomach the longer he stood there, Lydia's arms around him, her face against his back. She was an endless sort of sweetness and pleasure and just good, and he never got tired of having her around.

His brows rose at her expression, Arorangi fighting a smile.

"That is my girl," he said, with a laugh, and bent to kiss the top of her head, somewhat awkwardly, since she still wasn't letting go and he had to twist around to get to her. "It is all right, I will train with you!"

To Oliver's offer of candy, he said, "I will take one little bird!" and held out a large hand, the same one that was slung around his friend's shoulders.

He raised a dark brow, smiling serenely.

"My bad," said Chance with a laugh. "I didn't mean to. I just thought I'd say hi. Sort of."

He knew, mostly from sight, a lot of the people here, but there were a good half of them that weren't familiar. Gretchen wasn't exactly a best friend, but she was pleasant enough to be around, from the few interactions he'd had with her, and he didn't mind talking.

Chance slid into the seat beside her, hands still in his pockets. "Oh, so basically we're having an adventure again."

Justin's eyes brightened. "You mean this expansion has been localized into other countries?" This would just be jargon for anyone not mmo savvy, "I did hear that China is huge into the mmo industry, this would make sense." And then he was just nodding to himself.

So a job skill was basically a specialization. New terminology, same mechanics, really. He listened to Shu intently, soaking up every word and internalizing it. "Well my current job skill is set in doing dailies but I am looking for some new quests. Oh I know - we should party! What's your username? What level are you? What's your spec? What guild are you in? Do you have any fabric on you I'll buy it at lmb."

The questions just did not stop.

Liam, having been sitting on his own for a while, finally seemed to notice Caroline not too far away, also sitting on her own. Features brightening automatically, the Moon slipped from his current location, and made his way down the row so he could sink down beside his fellow Emerson University survivor.

He plucked gently at her sleeve. "Where'd you get that?" All the things he'd woken up with were all gnawed up and threadbare.

A had lifted, and she waved away the apology. "No worries, no harm done." Besides, she was happy for the company.

Her gaze slid back to America, though she managed to pay attention to her as well as the Sun beside her. "Sounds like. Though this one doesn't sound quite as dangerous." Which didn't mean anything.

He was expecting Full Metal Jacket. Standing at the back, it felt less serious.

Standing with the one duffel bad go his name, he lit up a cigarette, trying to deal with the major hurdle of a voice in his head.

Lydia perked up at the mention of candies, and pulled her face away from Aro's back so that she could say, "Yes! Definitely." A lot more clearer, one hand that had clutched on to Arorangi so tightly before loosing so that it could be held palm up in what she assumed was Oliver's direction.

She grinned up at Aro when he leaned down to kiss her, and stretched up on her tippy toes to be a little more accessible. Finally, with another tight squeeze, she let go of him, and ducked down and to the side so that she could wiggle her way underneath his other arm, snugging herself in close to his side.

"Does exploration and recording my findings constitute training?" She asked, and looked around Aro to give Oliver a wiggle of her fingers in a slightly better greeting than she'd given him before.
