Briiva found her way to the gymnasium, still fiddling with the joints of her costume. She found the brisk air almost perfect for the amount of sculpted foam and vacuum-formed plastic comprising her outfit. She was mostly concerned that she had secured the wiring well enough that it wouldn't break with whatever type of movement she would be required to make while dressed as a large lumbering, punching robot.
Not that she would ever admit it, but Briiva had been working on this for some time, it just so happened that she had managed to finish in up just in time. She figured that it would be a good test run for it. After a quick once over to ensure that the front chest exhaust lights were working and that the vents on her elbow fittings were adjusted as to not catch herself on fire, she pulled her helmet and stepped inside.
She had thought about having her costume capable of bellowing a loud BWOOOOM to initially announce her presence, but had decided against it.

She blinked at the Indiana Jones who appeared, lugging some alcohol with him. Her eyebrows shot up a bit at one person bringing so much. Though, she thought after a moment, it was good that someone was trying to keep enough in stock to go around. They were not an insignificant number. "I think you've covered getting hammered pretty well there." She observed, casting a glance at the crate. "Though I think I would prefer simply being buzzed to alcohol poisoning."
Mal grinned back at her. "Well, you know, I figured a lot of us would show for this. It's a good way to blow off some steam." He resolutely didn't allow the reason why they needed to blow the steam off to rise in his thoughts. Who'd have guessed that detective training would be so damn useful here? Not him, that was for sure.
He recognized Beth in the sort of way that meant they might have passed a few words and he'd probably gotten her name, but had forgotten it again in the meantime.

However, hostess duties called and, after light touches to Lex's wrist and Rob's shoulder and another set of brilliant grins at Beth and Sylvia, Misha turned her full attention on Mal. "Come on, kind sir," she drawled as she took a moment to grace him with a warmly appreciative once-over. It was subtle enough to avoid alerting the others but she had a feeling Mal would catch it and smirked. "Let's get that awful burden off your hands."
Turning on her heel, she sauntered off, hips swinging, and led him towards one of the tables near the punch bowl.
He was about to ask Beth her name again, but Misha came over and-- well. He grinned at her, wide and appreciative, because he had caught that once-over. Of course he would. And he gave Misha one himself, not a rude ogling, but -- appreciating.
"A good burden, I think, since we can spread some more joy. You look dynamite."
Misha allowed herself a brief moment to preen at his approving look and compliment but then she shook herself back to the business at hand with a low laugh. "I did my best. I figured I could pretend I was setting an example, at least." She gave him a sly sideways glance. "What kind of example, though... Well, who knows?"
Then she motioned again for him to follow. "Seriously, though, Mal. Let's get that box out of your hands so you're free to do more fun things." A tiny bit more oomph went into her hip-swing as she lead him to the table. "Dancing, for instance. Do you dance and please say yes?"

"Nice to meet you Rodney!~"
Dances? OH! Oooooooh! Mercy gave Lawrence a small snicker, shaking her head disapprovingly. "You would like to know wouldn't you?" of course she didn't do burlesque dancing, but it was something on her to-do list. The compliment made her laugh a little, looking over to Rodney. "True, I know everyone thought the Bayou was bad but I still feel like the Alps were horrid. All that cold and the poop....Ugh god, the poop..." Just thinking about what happened in the alps made her shudder noticeably. Mercy shook her head once more and gave Rodney and Lawerence a friendly wave. "I'll be back in a bit~" It was time to go find her blue painted friend so she could go bother him for a bit.
Moving away from Lawerence and Rodney Mercy made her way towards Rob, making sure to keep her steps as light as possible, just in case he had extremely good hearing. Once she was close enough, small hands grabbed the bottom of his kilt carefully and flipped it up as fast as she could, unable to hold in her laughter [while appreciating the fact she got a good look at his backside] as she walked up to the opposite side of him. "Sup Braveheart?"
She was thankful she was wearing some sort of shorts under her partial dress. Rob however, wasn't wearing anything apparently and that was pure gold!~
Mathilda grinned widely as she made her way to the gymnasium. It had taken her a while to get her makeup ready, but after tossing on the last bit of blood to her face, she was out the door and ready for more. It had taken her a while to figure out what she wanted to dress up as for Halloween, but after browsing her online game inventory, she remembered one of her favorite games. She had quickly pulled a poofy white dress she brought, but would never wear, out of her closet and got to work.
Dressed as HysteriaAlice from Alice Madness Returns, Mathilda pushed to door open widely and walked in, ready to party.

The point about skirts versus ballgowns was a fair one, and Sylvia had to nod. If she had to go for a cute or pretty Halloween costume that was also functional, she probably would go for something a bit shorter. Or with actual pants. Dear goodness, she hoped that the world would wait to need saving until they were out of their costumes. She shook her head to chase the thought away – not now, no worrying about that. Unless she had to deal with it, all thoughts of missions were not an option.
Radiant~ That was the best comment she’d had all night, and she flushed a little for it. She nodded her thanks to Lex. She chuckled at Brian’s recounting of the other proposed costumes – especially given her own comments earlier in the week. She was unsurprised, but entirely amused. She nodded at Misha, “A fair compromise.” An amused little smirk was directed at Brian, if he caught it.
Sylvia adjusted her arm as Beth attached to it, a wicked smile growing as she looked down at her friend. “Absolutely.” She was, as per her agreement with herself not long before, avoiding linking such comments with their recent Circe issue. Instead, she let herself indulge, twinkling eyes and a wicked smile. “I think we could do plenty of damage just looking as great as we do.” She straightened with her own little boost of confidence and gave Beth a wink.
Mal certainly provided enough booze to put to rest any complaints. Sylvia’s eyes widened to take the bulk of it in, but she just chuckled at the ensuing conversation. She was sure that even that supply would be sorely crippled by the end of the night, if it survived at all; she felt like people always drank more on Halloween, why was that?
Something moved in her peripheral vision, and she turned in time to see Rob’s skirt settling and Mercy having a good laugh. She deduced what had happened, grinning and rolling her eyes just a bit. “Somehow I doubt that’s the last time that will happen tonight.” She also doubted that Rob was much bothered by it, or at least figured that alcohol would turn any annoyance to amusement as the night wore on.
Glancing around, Sylvia was reminded that none of them had gotten terribly far since entering the gym. Casting a glance at least at Beth and Brian, whom she knew best and who seemed most available to be swayed, she suggested an alternative. “Well, shall we move a bit further inside so that we aren’t blocking the entrance?” Though there was probably enough room for newcomers, Sylvia still felt they should scoot a bit. Besides, there was so much more of the party to see – and she wouldn’t mind grabbing a snack or some punch, either.

Rob's expression turned sly as he eyed Misha. "Penance, hmmm?" Detaching himself gently from Lex, he tapped his chin. "I'm going to have to give that some thought. I mean, yeah, you do earn some points for the beer and wine, but still. You know this lot. We do love our booze." He winked at her. "I'll get back to you on that penance, love."
Not wanting to slight Sylvia or Beth, he turned to them next and studied them as appreciatively as he had looked at Misha. "You ladies look absolutely gorgeous. Sylvia, you look like you stepped right out of a fairy circle. Beth, pleasure to meet you. You are the loveliest vampire that ever vamped," he smiled in as charming a manner as he could with woad on his face. The smile turned into a wicked grin when Beth mentioned getting hammered. A lady after his own heart, it seemed.
"Good to meet you too, Brian," he nodded at the man in the tight leather pants. He felt lucky he hadn't been forced into something like that -- he could only imagine the amount of baby powder both Brian and Misha had used to get into those outfits. He had to give them props for courage. He raised his eyebrow quizzically as Brian raised his at Misha and grinned. So they weren't dates. That made the evening just a bit more interesting.
Then Mal came in looking like Indiana Jones and carrying a crate of booze, which sent Misha scurrying (in a very sexy way, how could she not in that leather cat-suit and those heels) to help. "I see reinforcements have arrived," Rob nodded happily, laughing at Beth's remark. Hammered indeed. It wasn't going to be long til that was the case.
He felt a sudden draft in the back. Had someone done the inevitable and lifted up his kilt? Not that he was ashamed of what he wasn't wearing underneath -- he wouldn't have gone regimental if he'd been afraid someone would do that. It just seemed a bit early in the evening for such shenanigans. Almost instantaneously Mercy appeared at his elbow, trying and failing to hold in her laughter. That explained it. "Hallo Mercy! Hope you liked what you saw," he winked. He hoped everyone else who got a free look at his arse enjoyed the view too.
"Have you met Lex?" he gestured at the Jazz Age diva next to him.

“I understand shirtless werewolf, but doctor is getting replaced with stripper,” Lex replied lightly, giving a soft smile. “Thank you.” They said. “Most of this,” They gestured, “was just something in my closet.” Which was true, the only new piece was the beaded cap.
They blinked taking in the newest arrival and movie reference. “Hello, Mercy,” They greeted softly, giving a nod. “They pronouns today, if you would.” The tiny bit of pink dusted their cheeks, and a slight shift of nervousness before going on. “And I absolutely love your hair. My curls never tame properly at that length.” They touch the straighten and gelled white bob they had spent a few hours styling. “And it takes long enough as is to straighten at chin length.”
Asher's reply to the joke was only a grunt so -- either the Tom Brady reference went over his head or he didn't think it was all that funny. He took another testing sup of his punch and then, all at once, downed the cup. It wasn't particularly big, anyway -- it went down fast and smooth, which meant it was either a light punch or a really strong one.
He shook his head a little as he swallowed. It was too sweet, that was for sure. "This is a weird kind of party, I have to say. But maybe it's just early, still."
He shot a look down into his empty glass, considering, and then up to Caleb. "Ed, I remember. What's your name again?"

Lawrence caught a flash of bum as Mercy accosted one of the other people at the party and raised an eyebrow in appreciation. "It's not Halloween without a bit of sexual harassment I suppose." he said jokingly to Rodney. Still, he wasn't too cheery about (as he saw it) being blown off.
"Well Angel." he said with a wink to Rodney. "Fancy some punch?"

"No!" Rodney said, clearly horrified and having hidden his face immediately, "It's...it's not funny, it's- not okay, to, to do that...to someone..."
He was having a miniature breakdown about it.
He visibly flinched at the word punch, which didn't help at all.

Lawrence gave Rodney a completely puzzled look for a second at his devastated response to the kilt-flipping. He wasn't sure about why he'd responded that way and it took a moment for him to process this. He tried comforting the other man as best he knew how.
"It's kind of asked for by the way he's dressed..?" he said before adding. "True Scotsman and all that."
He looked a little uncertain and rubbed Rodney's hand reassuringly. "See, he's not bothered at all."

"He didn't," Rodney whispered, "ask, he didn't-" he chanced a miserable look up but didn't seem soothed by the laughter, looking away again and this time bothering the neckline of his costume even further up.
"I don't know," he said, "how he feels."

Even though Songtao had helped set up the Halloween party, she was running more than fashionably late. She had spent a great deal of time fiddling with her costume, trying on different accessories, debating over wearing the wig or not (she decided on not, too few people knew her as is, plus it was hot and itchy), and evening out her red "cat eye" eyeliner.
After Misha had explained to her the whole Halloween thing, Songtao decided on being a huli jing, fox spirit. The irony of being a supernatural creature that specialized in appearing to be something different was especially toothsome to her, and she couldn't resist once she hit upon the idea. Hanfu was easy enough to find (especially after availing herself of Taobao), and she made some reasonably decent tails with faux fur, stuffing, and hot glue. They wouldn't hold up in, say, a swamp, but for one night they would do the job.
She hurried across the Prytaneum campus, walking smoothly whenever she thought someone might see her, and trotting awkwardly whenever she was unobserved. It was too damn chilly out to take her time. The hanfu looked cozy, but was actually made of paper-thin polyester satin, which provided as much insulation as a whisper. While she had been helping Misha set up, she also took note of the less-than-main entrances, so she could sneak into the party more subtly. Locating one of these entrances, she nudged away the rock she used to keep the door cracked open and slipped inside.
As she had hoped, the party was already fairly busy, making her entrance that much less notable. Whenever people met her gaze, she did the odd forced smile she had seen Americans do whenever they made eye contact with someone they knew and had to acknowledge, but not necessarily greet, all the meanwhile casually edging towards the snack table. Before she had noted fresh chocolate chip cookies, and she wanted a couple before they disappeared.

"Maybe you shouldn't worry about it too much." he offered hopefully. "I think he's got his emotions well in hand."
Rodney was completely unpredictable as things went, going off for what seemed like incomprehensible reasons to Lawrence. "Sometimes people don't ask for things but their friends know them so well it's implicit. I think its all fine. Relax."
