Ezra: 25/25, damage time

"You're not going to apologize?" His smile is very slow to grow, and very cruel, an expression rarely seen on his face. "You attack a man's son at a fine party where you were invited to observe. You grovel the moment there are consequences. You, girl, need better raising."

He grabs their wrist, too fast to be stopped. His grip freezes, his cold rage expressed through his fire. "Words are worthless, unfortunately," he says to Autumn, too calm by half. "Some lessons can only be taught through pain."

Ezra looks over his shoulder at Alois. "I'll not burn them," he says, mild, so mild. "You need not fear, Alois."

[Temperance Maskless: 25/25 making my way downtown walking fast]

"I'll talk to him," she whispered at Chel, indicating Rabbit and Alois. "I know, um, the one with a spider web on him." She'd slipped each mask into one of her rather voluminous pockets and made a note to thank her mother for such a design choice. "Let's split up for a bit, okay." She smiled, a small sort of secretive smile. It seemed as though a fight was brewing and, to be honest, maybe it could work in their favor.

Into this commotion, Temperance entered and walked calmly forwards. Maybe it would be enough. She was not here for the council, not yet, but for certain people. Stepping up next to Rabbit and Alois, she fingered the masks in her pockets.

"Hey, Alois, Cigarette guy, how you holding up?"

Alexis Tucker 10/25 | Ow.

"Blame my parents," Alexis murmurs, and then Ezra grabs their wrist and their entire world sort of narrows to cold and pain; never the less, they don't cry out, although their breathing speeds and their eyes screw shut, their teeth clenched vice-tight on each other. "Leave Autumn alone," they mutter again, pushing it out through their uncooperative mouth. "'s fine."

It's not fine. It hurts. It hurts a lot.

It's so cold.

(You're not going to die, stop whining, says a quiet voice in the back of their head. It sounds like their mother, a bit. Pain is temporary. It will be.)

[ corr ******** it it (unmasked + cape) | | 20/25 | | +3 to attack ] : SERIOUSLY.....

Corr glanced at Vale, eyes downcast and cruelly assessing.

"Let's," he drawled, giving into the tug. Vale's father was going to destroy something here in the Silver Hall, just as surely as Melany had threatened destruction earlier in the Ivory one. His languid steps led them close to their respective Patrons, Corr's fingers finding the soft curve of Vale's back.

Only the nails digging in begged a question of possession.

But he himself was already owned.

“Ah s**t,“ he muttered mostly to himself. „At least he’s going after zat one.“ Alois waved away the distraction and returned to his post by July, offering her a shrug as an excuse for his actions. She knew full well what he could get himself into, and similarly knew that he was operating at optimum obedience currently.

That’s right, this was optimum obedience.

He looked to the girl from before when she called his name, and he regarded her in return with a raised brow. „Come to tell me I’ll catch cancer?“ Alois huffed, and rubbed at the heavy black circles sunken into his eyes. The high emotion of the evening pared from him all patience and tolerance for any further upsets - and the girl’s earlier castigations were already too much of a reminder.

„I was holding up fine wis’ Father playing Infinite Heat Source, but now he’s out over zere. Maybe you should leaf’ if you don’t want to end up like zat one,“ he finished, gesturing toward Alexis.

Juniper Wilcox (Maskless) | 25/25 | Looking for Hux

Juniper walked into the hall not long after Temp and Chell. It seemed there was quite a bit happening already with the small gathering that was there. She picked out a few familiar faces, and some, well, she had hoped not to see doubles of, but it seemed that there was still trouble abound for the tithes.

With that in mind, Juniper focused her search for Hux. Her shouldn't be that terribly hard to find considering his size, but it took her a bit to locate him with the gathered patrons. Thankfully he was alive considering the state she had last seen him in wasn't good. He looked battered though, and none too happy. Not that she could blame him for his sour mood. She didn't particularly want to approach him, especially considering what she wanted to do. She wanted to keep it on the DL.

So, Jun walked towards the group hoping that Hux would see her and be able to leave his jailors. She waited until she thought he was looking at her and gave him a head jerk as an indicator to join her. Come on Hux. I hope you aren't too beaten up yet.

[Temperance Maskless: 25/25 y do i even help u]

"Cancer isn't contagious," she said dryly, looking Alois up and down. "You look like s**t. I'll leave in a bit. Are you worried about me?" She gave him a lopsided smile.

"Take this." In front of her, blocked from most people's view by her skirts, was a mask.

Rabbit Vaughn: 25/25, cigarette guy?

"Cigarette guy?" Rabbit murmured in a lull. "I'm... okay?" It seemed Alois knew this girl, so he stayed quiet despite his desire to ask her what she was doing here. When she produced a mask, however...

"You really think that's a good idea?"

"I have another." Her tone indicated it was for Rabbit, but she only had so many hands. "Don't have to wear now," she whispered. "But before... the time comes...."

“Sanks, you too,“ he replied to her with lips puckered into a mock kiss. „I’m just not in ze mood to have a polite conversation wis’ you right now.“ He looked to Father to measure exactly how much time she had before Ezra returned to his sons. He wondered, then, if his father would burn her for approaching them out of turn.

„Just shut up and take it.“ Alois shot Rabbit a pointed look. „How long do you sink she has before Father gets back? She’s gonna end up like zat poor fop over zere if we keep her around by humming and hawing over her offer. So just take it. It’s not like she’s tying it onto her face. Just… Shove it into ze back of your pants or somesing. s**t.“

"Oh." He brought the cigarette to his lips, inhaled, and blew the smoke off to his side. "I guess it might work." Rabbit nodded. "Fine. I'm not wearing pants, but... I'll put it somewhere."

Chel | 15/25 | looking for Shiloh

Since Jeremiah had been weirdly specific, Chel decided to focus on finding Shiloh first. He was bound to be in the Silver Hall somewhere (considering it was one of the only populated remaining rooms).

She saw the scuffle that was going and was going to avoid the s**t out of that for now (hopefully). For now, she just scanned the area for her target.

[Temperance 25/25 butt masks all the rage]

"You're never polite, Alois. Must be an allergy. Save your kisses; I have standards." She might have standards, but she probably didn't have too, too much time before their patron burned his way back over. She held the mask out a little more insistently. "One of you take it, so I can fish the other out. Shove it into your rectum for all I care. ...er, don't. Internal hemorrhaging is no joke." She huffed, feeling antsy. For all her like of stealth games, she wasn't some natural born stealth master. Of the masks she carried on was, of course, her rabbit splicer mask - she would come looking for that in the real Ashdown - it was a collector's piece. The other was one of the ones Shun had tossed to her. Others before saving her own butt, of course.

"Just, please, please get them on before the time. I'll be watching you." Temperance squinted her blue eyes at them in what she hoped was a threatening manner. If they didn't put them on, she'd... she'd... well, she didn't know what she would do. Maybe tackle them to the ground and shove it on their faces.

Chris Watts || 25/25 || Oh holy s**t

It had been danger to go up to this Thorne but Chris was unable to stop himself, unable to demand an answer. He had shattered himself on the floor for this, he had played a damn game and he wanted the reward.

But he apparently hadn't learned enough that there was still a danger there, had thought that in his pulled together fragments there would be nothing else to shatter. But this was a knife smile, a knife dance, and he was a fool.

"I-," He stuttered out, began. Didn't know where to start or begin, what to say without getting cut on the edges before him.

He was saved from having to say anything by Thorne actually showing up, although the words were no less crueler.

You do not even remember his name, he had said and Chris had flinched at that, had seen a fight begin to brew. His name wasn't remembered but that didn't matter, he would fight for Thorne no matter what. He was ready to jump to his defense, to try and say something, try to avoid the knife that was ready to slice into him.

But then he was pulled away, into a less busy part into the crowd, into an area where he wouldn't be hurt by everything.

He stared blankly at Thorne, barely noticing his grip on his arms, the closeness between them. All he could see was the bruise on his face, the light in his eyes, everything open and clear and unmasked.

"Why?" He asked, sounding close to a sob, bringing a hand up to caress the bruise that bloomed on his face. The skin he could see, could touch, even though he didn't want to. He had wanted him protected. The mask apparently lay shattered on the ground somewhere.

He felt terrified, shaken by something he couldn't place, close to breaking apart again by this. Like he was on the ground again, something looming over him that would tear him apart, his hands on Thorne's throat and -

He jerked his own hand away from Thorne, let it drop by his side. He didn't deserve this kindness, this softness towards his way. Why Thorne hadn't taken the mask, he didn't know but he wouldn't question it.

The gentleness of the kiss brought him to near tears, something warm and soft and tender that he shouldn't have been afforded. It lingered and he could only cling to it and hope that maybe he would be forgiven.

It was his name that actually brought him to tears.

He didn't mean to cry, not intentionally, but it surprised him. Thorne had taunted him earlier that he didn't remember and Chris didn't mind, not really, but this was.. he remembered. He remembered and cared and Chris, Chris was tired and scared for his friends that in the end he cried. It was quiet and it was quick, but there were still tears.

Don't go, he wants to say and his hand shoots out to grab Thorne's, his heart two steps ahead of his mind. He gives it a surprised look, but then looks back to Thorne and manages to say, "Wait." It's a croaky wait, his voice unused to asking for something like this, but still there.

"Just.. stay a minute?"
