Oh god, oh dear, oh god why why why why why did this person sit next to him?! When Poe plopped down next to him, Mahmud stiffened faster than water in the polar regions. Not to mention...
His eyes darted down to Poe's metal hand, staring invisible holes straight through it. If this kid wanted to hurt him? He could do it. Not a problem. Metal hands were bad news. But... that one girl with metal arms hadn't hurt him way before. Mahmud was 99 percent certain her mom had wanted to eat him or something, but that girl Gnash had never hurt him and she could have just snapped his neck. No! This was different! Gnash was in his house, this guy is in... a public place. Would another troll really try and kill a troll somewhere out in the open, in public, next to the door? But at the Trials...
Call Mahmud a robot, because his brain was short circuiting from this logic loop. And then Poeias, bless his soul, said some words that managed to calm him.
"I'm a volunteer too, for the elevator! But I always liked building things, even if I'm not too good."
This guy... was he really just some other kid who wanted to build like he did? At first, his anxious expression hung tight to his face. However, the more Poe talked the more relaxed Mahmud found himself. He's just a kid who likes to build things. Maybe he's an axe murderer too somewhere deep down inside, but right now he was a dork who was rambling on about the applications of this Science Elevator, and parts that weren't quite right.
"I live in the desert..." Without looking at Poe anymore, Mahmud leaned over to look at the blueprints next to him. "And I love buildin' a whole bunch. I built my hive, with Ommy..." The boy placed his finger over a spot on the blueprints where his new companion was looking. "... one of the scientists said to me there's too much pressure on one of the spots, too... I think its right here. We..."
For a moment he stood quiet, heart fluttering from nerves. Then he swallowed and took a look at his fr-- this kid next to him, and murmured "I'm Mahmud. Do you... want to go find an architect together?

If he wanted to impress that purpleblood further....well it would be rather hard to woo her while on the run. Actually.....it was difficult to woo while being seen as a traitor by her as well...but he could work with that.
As he walked the labs he balked. There were a few rebels he recognized....including one he wasn't so certain he wanted to engage. Not only did the tealblood seem....preoccupied, after seeing her last time he was....underwhelmed. Forera tended to live with her foot in her trap....knowing exactly every wrong thing to say. And he was sure she was doing the same with the trolls she was talking to. He paused his walk to eye her a few moments. Maybe he should make certain she was alright....or would it be more proper to give the lady her privacy? He frowned as his thoughts strained. She DID seem to be more private about her dealings....perhaps respecting that was better? And he didn't hear any shouting.....yes, walking away was probably the better option. He wasn't entirely certain he wanted to deal with her anyway....she was.....a handful.

Quote: You make an executive decision that cuts you and your work team’s production time in half while still fulfilling the same amount of production effort. Rianon never much liked being treated like a kid (even though she obviously was one). Leeroi seemed kind enough, but still a little unsure of her abilities. She returned the fist-bump all the same. This Perore though, she basically told Ri to get out of the way, albeit with more tact than most trolls would say. Rianon's smile only broadened, she'd obviously have to give them a display of just what kind of skill sets she had. "Physical labor is fine and all," she replied before suddenly disappearing. Within the blink of an eye the young troll was standing next to Perore, a hand on the beam she was heaving. "But my skills are a little more specialized," she said quickly before disappearing again with the beam. The girl appeared across the room, setting the beam down, with a bit of a struggle to keep it from just falling over, with the rest of them that have been heaved around. Finally she appeared right back in her initial spot. She looked pleased with herself, twirling her dress a bit as she looked over the three of them. "Oh, by the way, I think everyone should rethink the size of the beams we're using. If we used the shorter beams here," she pointed to where the longer ones were being used, "and the longer ones there," she again pointed to where the shorter ones were being used, "I'm pretty sure we could get the job done a lot faster." While of course not using technical terminology, she was right. Something in the plans must have been overlooked, so Ri offered a solution to cut production time in half. From the pounding of the hammers to make metal pieces for the elevator to the buzzing of electronics whirring. It was an interesting experience and one that left the young troll in absolute awe over what was going on around her. She put her hand on a certain vibrating droid and giggled, though it gave her a warning beep that it was carrying heavy objects. "Warning heavy load. Step aside." came a high pitched robotic voice. Akkira moved to the side to let the machine pass by, she gave a very light giggle and skipped off to go find something else to do with her time, they had things they needed to do if they were going to win this adventure. Onwards to the next major task! She hummed merrily as she walked towards her next job.

"You saying physical labour isn't specialized?" Leeroi asked Ri, in a joking tone. He was much more suited for intellectual work until fairly recently, himself. Leeroi was incredibly confident about his "specialized" skills. His physical strength was what needed work, hell that's why he was bothering with it now. "It takes a specific kind of troll to move this stuff around. A lot of time and work goes into building yourself up for it. Though I suppose they usually could just make drones do it, sometimes they have good reason not to." He said to Ri, watching the little greenblood give her best effort to move the beams. "Cool powers, though, I'm sure it'll be very useful for the crew!" Rianon's ideas were smart and useful, too. He'd remember that for next time. Leeroi blinked, and suddenly he was surrounded by children. Maybe he really didn't need to worry about his popularity here, after all. "Hey, s'nothin, bud. No harm no foul," Leeroi chuckled, ruffling the little cowboy's hair. His gaze drifted over to the other, grumpier kid. Looks like some kids didn't appreciate the highblood company after all. Leeroi played it off with a smile, crossing his arms in front of his chest. "What's with the face, huh? You wanna fight?" Leeroi quirked an eyebrow, waiting for a response. "Oh, I know. You want to arm wrestle, don't you?" He extended his metal arm, expression entirely serious. Hivestuck Name: Leeroi Furore Activity: Endurance Resources gained: +4 Labour

Quote: You’re in charge of unloading scores of trundlebuggies that are carrying provisions for the workers at the main base. It seemed the green blooded kid had something to prove. Forera watched Ri poof back and forth, all around, with the beam, not with the beam, what. Was this another troll with the gifts? Forera held back a slight groan. After experiencing the power of Sascha and a good number of powered trolls, Forera couldn't help but feel like their powers were less of a gift and more of a cheat. It was a little frustrating for the tealblood, considering she didn't have one herself, but at least she knew she was strong enough without a power. She wasn't gifted, and she didn't need to be. She was content with how she was.
While she appreciated Ri's efforts to impress her, Forera honestly had better things to do than to entertain the attention of a child. "That was really cool," Forera mentioned, seeming sincere, but-- "So keep workin' at it! Tire y'self out and get to work!" Forera said giving her a thumbs up. She hadn't meant to be insulting, but the tealblood was mostly there because the Initiative needed the parts. (I'll edit this part with luxara's response later)
As Forera shuffled away from the large group of children that suddenly approached her new blue-blooded "pal", she gave the others a curt wave before glancing at Luxara and sighing. "I'm gonna go check on th'Facilities. It's only been a few hours, and we need t'check just-in-case some unwanted trolls are bustin' into our stuff. Go get Faithe and we can meet up later. Alright? Quote: Blockages on the paths make it difficult for supplies to get by, so you volunteer to unblock roads for easy access. Well, enough water had gotten in his mouth that he wasn't really thirsty anymore, so that's one concern out of the way.
While his dazed state had been going away, his brain was fritzing for a new reason. He'd never been hugged by anyone but Beehemoth before. He'd only met Kolako the once but she'd been really nice and saved him from that plant. He didn't expect such happy reaction out of her for seeing him again. It was... nice.
That's weird. Feeling nice about other trolls is weird and he was still getting used to it. Not that there were a lot of trolls he knew, but he felt nice nice about a few of them, for lack of better descriptor.
And she was smiling and happy and even if she was laughing at his expense, it didn't seem mean. The only person who was ever happy to see him was Bee. It really is a wonder he didn't get struck by the runaway trundlebuggy.
He only twitched a little when she approached, distracted by the weirdness jumbling around in his head and the exasperation at a disaster that wasn't even his fault. He came back to attention when Kolako started talking though. He blinked a few times and then looked down at himself. Hopefully this wouln't become a common trend like it had been at Bloodfest. Pulling the wet fabric away from the skin on his legs then letting go for it to smack back to his thigh, he blew out a sigh. Nictor nodded to her suggestion, biting his lip a little. Hopefully he could get them to loan him a another jumpsuit until this one dried out.
"Y-yeah," He said, looking down at the floor as the puddle grew larger and larger, rippling around his shoes and Kolako's bare feet. He should probably tell someone about this too. Or maybe that maintenance bot could help? Letting the base's water supply spill out onto the floor was probably a bad plan.
"I'm j-just gonna," he started, but didn't bother finishing. He walked over to the fountain that had been sheared from the wall and started maneuvering the thing back to it's approximate place on the wall.I managed to block most of the water flow, luckily. Hopefully it'd stay until someone could come repair it. He looked back to Kolako and offered a helpless smile while he scratched at his cheek. It really was nice to see her again though.
Oh man. Oh no. She'd been so happy when she first saw him and all he'd done is stumble away and get soaked. That wasn't very nice, was it? He should probably return the favor.

The question was, should Sephos bother caring? ”Hang on -” He ran over to his lusus, who was scrutinizing a device intently. A drone stood nearby with the plans and it looked so much like a landscaping diagram that Sephos couldn't help but take a brief look. Obviously, it wasn't. The drone waved him off, clearly a lot more competant at this sort of thing than Sephos. Sephos returned with a small container of salve. ”... Quote: Valuable ideas that you have gleaned from the location and economic status of the space ladder contributes to a huge change in the space ladder workflow – for the better! Koko couldn't help but smile a little at how soaked he was, not because she enjoyed it-- He just looked exactly as pout-y as Papion did when he was fully wet from a water storm! She grinned. "They gotta have one, por que, they had so many to give us! There must be more." Her feet were getting a little cold, but that was her own fault-- She'd gotten so used to being barefoot, she hadn't even considered how cold the ground was in the desert. Especially in the dead of night! It was obvious Nictor noticed it, with how he up and left. Kolako blinked, shrugging and looking up at all of the materials they used before getting a sudden inspiration over something she completely didn't understand in full. They were in the cold... so the metal would be stronger, right? Right. She didn't question it, simply passing the information to a drone nearby whom seemed a little shocked at her words. They were true! Koko suddenly felt accomplished.
She kinda watched Nictor bring the thing back to its original place-- Good thinking, it'd block the flow, most likely! (Kolako was just guessing, really.) It was weird, and the redblood didn't really care. His smile was returned with a wider smile, feeling a little awkward for a second until the yellowblood responded back to her older words. Koko's hands clapped together excitedly. At least he wasn't freaking out like before! "How is everything? Por que everything's good with me! Papion's outside and he really wants to come in, but he's waaaaay too big, so he can't come in at all! And if he does he'd just break everything!" Koko sounded a little amused, remembering her lusi's reaction. "And I said, "nuh-uh Papi! This place has toooooo many expensive stuff you can't break!" and he was really annoyed." She was rambling, but really, didn't know what else to say. She was just trying to fill in the emptiness of the conversation, trying to distract herself from thinking too hard. From thinking in Eridia. "Oh! How's your lusus, Nic? El 'taqui? Is he around?" Kolako looked around for the massive bee, kind of curious as to how they were doing.

Poe was surprised by his new friend. "Oh wow, really? I've never heard of a troll building their own hive, as a kid I mean! You must be really talented at it, I only build things like fences, and traps, and little things like that," he said, grinning. The only time he ever saw someone not a drone building was in the swamp, where they didn't have the luxury. He helped with the building there too, he supposed, but he was a bit little for anything bigger than hammering wood together. And he lived in the desert!
He peered at the blueprint again and nodded. They were rushing the work here so it seemed like a lot of small errors were slipping through! But thankfully with all these people here to double check, most would probably be caught before anyone got hurt. He flipped through the reports to make a note on one of them in a quick, scrawling handwriting. He lifted his head again and smiled to his new friend, Mahmud. "I'm called Poe! It's nice to meet you, Mahmud," he said, reaching his hand out to shake. He didn't like that he couldn't be forthright anymore, but technically, he wasn't lying, People did call him Poe! More often than his full name. "Let's go find someone! I'm sure there's a lot of them around," he said, standing up from the seat, gathering up the papers carefully in his free hand. He couldn't really see them and didn't want to accidentally leave one behind and give away the fact his eyes were obscured, because that would sort of give away his identity... he didn't think any non-rebels would really recognize him, since all he did was herd sheep, but he was trying to be cautious and careful for the sake of his friends.

Something about the diagram the drone had naggled at Sephos' thinkpan, but he couldn't quite put his finger on what it was. The patterns? The way that it seemed familiar and wasn't? Nope, not a clue. He shrugged to himself, shrugging off both uncertainty and the creeping sense of unease and exposure he felt in the city and the desert around it. This was distinctly not his home.
Some drones were complaining about conditions at their facility nearby – moldy food and crappy neighbors and raiders and such, and Sephos would have moved away from them but there were few enough quiet places to think in this place, so he walked up to them. ”Hey.” he said, crossing his arms and looking at them appraisingly, ”Why don't you go do something about it?”
“Yeah! I think I will!”
And they were off, leaving a very confused Sephos to wonder just what he'd done...

Quote: You lift countless supplies onto the loading docks and set them up for transport! Nictor was luckily wasn't as overwhelmed by Kolako's chattiness this time, though his eyes were still wide and shoulders a little drawn up. Still, he felt fond amusement as he started wringing out his sleeves as Kolako talked about her lusus. He couldn't help imagining if Beehemoth had actually been allowed into the compound. The big buzzbeast would be breaking and knocking into things like no one else's business too.
The small nervous smile stayed on his lips, rather than retreating as it usually might. She seemed well enough, and he enthusiasm was somehow encouraging.
He blinked a few times when she asked after Bee and a small huff of laughter escaped him, though he couldn't help flinching immediately after. Laughing could be taken the wrong way too easily. He was just amused how she was looking around for her lusus as though he were hiding in the ceiling somewhere. Bee definitely would be if he'd been allowed to.
"No, n-no, Bee wasn't all---owed in either," he responded, shaking his head a little. "He's a bit too b-big and cl-clumsy to be let i-in. He's h-hanging around outs---ide s-somewhere though."
That had to be the longest and most stable sentence he's spoken to someone other than Bee for as long as he can remember. This nice feeling was weird and he didn't know what to do with it. It wasn't bad though, obviously. It was the lack of terror dogging his words and breath, something so foreign to experience near trolls. There were still traces, but somehow, not much at all.
Nictor did jump in the air and skitter back a ways when one the the hallway walls behind him opened up with a create screech and clang of metal and machinery. A squad of drones with trolleys of supplies were gathering by the opening now, or at least, they were momentarily. The drones seemed to just be taking the trolleys to a drop off point then departing. A couple approached, one stopping to stare in confusion at the water on the floor and the other unceremoniously picking Nictor up and dropping him by the carts with a curt order to load the supplies. Then the drones were gone and Nictor was left blinking after them, limbs drawn in and heart thumbing quickly. He looked back down the hall to where Kolako was.
"A-ah, uhm, s-sorry. I gu-guess I h----ave t-to.... unload th-these," he said, loud enough to be heard, though he did start quieting near the end. Conversations weren't supposed to have this many disruptions or oddities to them, were they? He was messing this up so badly. He didn't want to lose this new ease he felt chatting with her, but he was having hard time not getting caught up in his own head.
"Ah, b-but, y-yeah, things are pr---etty well," Nic continued, stumbling over his words as he began to load the trolley contents onto a transport parked outside. Who designed this compound even? A hallway opening up for loading? Why? "Uhm. Huuh. Hnnn."
Nictor found himself in a position he'd never really been in before. That position being he wanted to keep the conversation going. But Nictor wasn't much of a conversationalist and he found himself at a loss for words. What was he even supposed to talk about?
"B-bee s-said he saw a-a flow---erbeast l-like the flowers i-in the forest the o-other day," Nic offered, but bit his lip sharply, almost drawing blood. Eugh, would she even want to hear about this? Poe nodded his head. He could understand that! Trolls were hard to understand sometimes, and didn't react in ways he expected or hoped most times, and he was quickly overwhelmed by too many people. Plus... "That makes sense! I've known some trolls who like being alone, and living in caves and far away from cities and stuff like that!"
He pulled his hand back after the handshake, and adjusted his papers carefully one more time. Though Mahmud's question made him giggle, and he could feel his hands wanting to move again, and clap in excitement. "Haha!" he laughed, clutching the papers close to him and bouncing in place. He was surprised his friend reciprocated a joke, that almost never happens with new people!
"Oh, that's a good one! Poenouns! I love it! I like he and him, though to be honest I've never tried anything else," he said, tilting his head. He thought about some of the other trolls he knew, like Ninfia, who used two different sets of pronouns, and switched between them, though they normally liked "they", especially when people didn't know them all that well. "I think I'm pretty much a boy though, so yeah, he/him is good. What about you? Ohh I can't think of a good joke to ask it with, so I guess I'm just asking it normally, which is kind of sad because I do really like joking, but if this isn't something to be joked about I guess that's a good thing," he said, starting to ramble. Poe clenched his hands anxiously, rumpling the papers. He wasn't sure if this was a polite thing and he was messing it up, but it seemed okay to ask.
Then he remembered the task at hand. "Oh yeah! We should probably go find someone to show our data to," he said, thinking about where they could find one of the head builders, or someone who could direct the drones. "Maybe we could find a directory, or peek inside one of the VIP rooms, or something..." he said, thinking aloud.
