Moving to sit down next to Kailani, she shrugged, "If you want, we can sit here an talk a bit more if you'd like. I realized this morning that I did sort of jump the gun on wanting to adopt you." she chuckled a little bit, looking down at the flowers, "You just remind me a bit of me when I was younger, and I just - I don't want to see you continue on with the pain of being alone. After I had married my husband, I told him that I planned on adopting kids that needed to be taken out of the darkness that I experienced myself as I don't ever want someone to go through that pain, more so alone." Moira ran her hand through her hair, then started to run her thumb against the filigree ring that was on her ring finger. "I just wanted to let you know my reasoning behind it." she turned to look at Kailani and smiled gently, "That, and I would be able to easily let you meet my friend, I feel like you could make some pretty amazing items with the right materials and mentoring."

Kailani was about to get up when Moira sat down next to her. As she spoke, a frown began in on the corners of her lips. "...i'm fine..." she muttered softly. "I understand that you think I need saving from some kind of darkness... but I don't need help. I may be alone, but I'm okay." she answered calmly, still frowning. "Again, I appreciate the offer... but they need me here.. and I don't think I could ever leave this place." she finally settled on the answer. She sighed, "It sounds like a dream come true, I know it, but it's just not that simple, I guess." she turned to place a hand against the wet headstone. "I'm sorry that you had to see all that this morning... And..." her eyes narrowed in pain, "I'm sorry that you had to see me like that..."

She closed her eyes, as it was obvious she was trying to collect herself enough not to cry. Eventually she stood up, shoving the emotions back down as she looked down to Moira, threading her thumbs beneath the straps of the backpack as she pulled her satchel into a more comfortable position on her shoulder. "I think you'll like Treles... at least they are nicer there... I mean, they don't like outsiders too much, but it will be fine if I'm with you... In fact, they might actually like you a lot... You're a genuine person... they like that." she spoke with a smile, though it seemed just a tad forced to cover the pain. "I can explain more about the stones too on the way over if you really are interested in getting them..."

Moira smiled sadly as she watched the others expression change as well as the forced smile, one she was all too familiar with. "Well, how about when this is all said and done, you can go on a vacation for a week to see how things outside the Village and Treles is like? It might be a nice little break for you." she stretched and stood up, looking down at the elven girl, nodding a little bit. Hopefully the people at Treles wouldn't immediately notice that she was a meta and not a true race, as that has clearly been causing some issues outside of places like the place they were in.

"I am pretty interested in them, and depending on what I find out about them then...well, we'll see where that takes me from there." Moira grinned wide and put her hand on her hip, wanting to tell Kailani about what she had heard from the woman at the front desk, but she didn't want to push it.

Kailani raised a precarious eyebrow then seemed to smile if not sadly. "I'll consider it... no promises, though." she finally answered, almost in an attempt just to drop the subject completely. Moira had seemed so adamant about it, and usually Kailani would have just gotten defensive and angry about it, but she seemed to like Moira and didn't feel the need to be mean to her about it. Maybe she was really just trying to help her, even if in the end Kailani still had every intent to deny the request. But she would cross that bridge when she got to it. For now, it was time to go. She nodded at Moira's response about the stones then shifted her gaze to the headstones, giving a single nod of acknowledgement to them before turning to walk down the small cleared out path among the red poppy back towards town but taking the other path in the fork of the road down to the boat.

As she walked along the short dock, she inspected the boat a bit, smiling at her own handiwork before throwing her backpack and satchel into the boat and carefully moving to practically jump into the boat, digging around for a moment as she returned to the edge of the boat with two life vests, looking at them then to Moira with slight concern. "Do you know how to swim?" she asked, hoping the answer was yes or else this poor girl was going to have to try to use these full sized life vests as arm floaties. Which, while a very entertaining thought, seemed a little cruel in the long run.

Following Kailani down to the small dock, she looked the boat over and seemed to be rather impressed by the boat. Though as she was asked if she could swim, Moira let out a soft sigh. Well, that was bound to happen at some point. "Well...yes and no. I could swim if I didn't weigh so much, but alas, I cannot." she rolled her eyes, putting her hand on her hip and looking down at the life vests. "I do miss swimming, though."
PostPosted: Sat Jul 30, 2016 8:22 pm

Kailani frowned. "Do you want to try to use these vests? I mean, it's mostly in case anything happens and you accidentally fall off the boat. I honestly doubt that would happen, it's a short trip and it's not like the waves are super huge or anything. Water is pretty calm today. So it's mostly just a safety precaution...." she explained. "I can swim, but I don't know if I'd be strong enough to get you back to the boat if the need arises. Granted, it would be much easier to lift you underwater due to buoyancy and the upward force is much less, but honestly it depends how much I can lift in comparison to the weight of displaced fluid from your body... I mean, you have greater volume, so you'd have a greater buoyancy... so that's a plus. So it's very possible but not guaranteed..." she ranted then paused. "I mean, if you want to chance that, and all...." she offered, putting a foot up onto the dock and keep her other foot grounded inside the boat, she offered the life jackets with one hand and her extended her other free hand to Moira in case she wanted to get in the boat without the jackets. Kailani left the choice to her since this was an issue about her safety here.

Taking the two life vests, she looked at them and awkwardly took the time to put the life vests on, which still looked a little strange on her large form. "Well, I guess this will have to do." Moira laughed a little uneasily, hoping that worst wouldn't come to worse. She hated the fact that she couldn't swim anymore, having at least known how to swim enough to get her to stay afloat enough if things went bad but of course not for very long. "So..how long will it take to get there?" she asked as she moved to get on the boat, ducking down a bit lower than she probably needed in an attempt to keep her weight lower instead of higher so she wouldn't fall over.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 31, 2016 12:20 pm

Kailani couldn't help but laugh at the sigh of Moira trying to use the life jackets. It was no joking matter, but it was still an interesting sight none-the-less. "Hmm, should take maybe ten or fifteen minutes. Not long at all." she answered, pointing to the barely visible tree tops on the horizon of the vast blue ocean. "That's Treles."

She helped Moira onto the boat and made sure that she was stable before moving to sit towards the back of the boat with the motor as she pulled at the cord a few times before the engine roared up. A smile on her face as she took one more look at Moira and nodded. She leaned over to remove the rope from the dock the pushed the lever until they began to move, slow at first to let Moira adjust to it before slowly increasing the speed until they were at a fairly steady pace now. She smiled at the pink-haired woman. "It's been a while since I've been to Treles... though I doubt anything has changed at all.. Oh, and you'll get to meet the Great Iumathiashae!" she laughed a bit. "We just call her I'osi. She likes that better. Means mother of all mothers." she spoke with a slight hint of longing in her voice. "Don't worry, I'll introduce you to everyone. I think you'll like it."

Once she had settled down in the boat, Moira turned to look at Kailani, though she quickly had to shift how she was sitting so she could turn to glance at the girl but also keep herself looking somewhat forward as it was a little disorientating. "How often do things change around here in general? I've noticed that the other town was a little lower on the tech end in comparison to the larger cities I've seen. I didn't actually think there were places that were so far behind.." Moira thought aloud, "Mother of all mothers..?" she asked curiously.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 31, 2016 8:00 pm

"Hmm... change? Hardly much changes... As far as tech goes, Drisall refuses to adapt to that kind of change. They've always been set in their ways to stay old fashioned. It's probably why they don't like a lot of the things I make..." she explained then sighed. "Is it really that technologically advanced everywhere else?" she asked out of curiosity. Was Drisall really the only place that had remained so far behind the advancements of science? "Well, I hope you're not really attached to your tech... Treles is even worse. Well, not worse. Just... primitive. It's the life they live, what with magic being such a heavy foundation for their society, they find no use for technology and science. I don't either but I still like it though." she spoke, keeping a cautious eye on the seas as they moved ahead. "Well, yeah... like.. uhh... like she's the leader of the tribe. Everyone looks up to her and she's the oldest, kind of thing. Like a Chief but a female. Her real title is Iumathiashae... Mother of the Oceans. But she likes the other one better." she thought for a moment, "It's like saying she's everyone's grandmother." she was able to summarize in the best way possible.

Kailani was looking out beyond the waters to the island which she began to realize wasn't actually getting closer anymore. Odd. She looked down to the motor to see an umber colored slimy limb reached up over it as a second curled it's way up to wrap around the other side. "Oh s**t...." she cursed as she jumped up and moved to her backpack to dig for something. "Just stay down and keep away from the edges, okay?" she instructed with purpose as she retrieved a handmade netted bag of what looked like shrimp from the bag and moved along the edge of the boat as more feelers were sliding up and curling around the edges of the boat. "Come on, Sadie... where are you...." Kailani muttered to herself as she seemed to be searching for something, leaning over the edge of the boat as she moved to find something.

Another tentacle reached up into the boat and grabbed Kailani's arm. "Dammit!" she cursed, grabbing onto the railing with her other hand as she leaned further over. Suppose she'd just have to guess and hope for the best. The boat was rocking lightly as the creature was pulling at the boat. Kailani had a determined look as she quickly untied the net bag and dumped the shrimp over the edge. The slick arm continued to pull Kailani, threatening to pull her in. "Come on.. .COME ON!!" she exclaimed half angrily as she was pushing against the edge of the boat just to keep from being dragged into the water by this point, just praying that it would be satisfied with the offering that it was just haphazardly given.

Moira stayed silent, but a look of excitement was quite clear on her face as she listened to the girl talk. It was always exciting to her to hear people talk about things they were either interested in or had quite a bit of knowledge about that they didn't mind sharing and this was quite the treat as as of late most of the Renegades were too busy or too scared to sit down and just talk with her about things but this, this was fantastic. "Everyone's grandmother, huh? Sounds like an interesting woman, I do hope to meet her and make a great impression." she grinned wide, though as the boat stopped and the umber hand started to reach over, she turned to look at Kailani.

Keeping herself down and close to the middle of the boat, Moira nodded, though as a tentacle reached up to grab Kailani, she instinctively reached to grab, firmly, the girls leg. "I got you!" she said quickly, not wanting to have the girl to fall into the water, even if she could swim. Something just didn't sit quite right, mostly due to the strange limbs that were grabbing at the boat.
PostPosted: Mon Aug 01, 2016 8:26 pm

Kailani pulled back harder against the tentacle, she just had to hold out a bit longer. What seemed like minutes quickly ended as the arm released her and she flew back into middle of the boat, next to Moira. The feelers slowly began to retreat from the edges of the boat and the boat began to move again as Kailani scrambled to her feet to get to the propeller to steer in the right direction. It looked like the offering was good enough as she breathed a deep sigh of relief and busted out laughing. "Oh man, Sadie was about to give us a good run for our money... didn't realize she hadn't been fed in so long.." she commented with a grin, like everything was normal. Looking down to Moira as her hair whipped about her face, she smiled. "You still alive, down there?" Taking in a deep breath of sea air, Kailani almost seemed at peace out in the middle of the oceanic waters.

As they approached the island, the trees growing so far up they obscured even the sun and towered far up into the sky, the only visible part of the huge island was pristine white sands that lined the edges of the the untouched island. Kailani looked as though she could easily just jump right in and swim to the shore and be completely content riding the waves that crashed along the sand. The only thing that would have stopped that would be the bramble of dark red roots that twisted up from the ground as if to protect the beautiful hidden wonders beyond the trees. Kailani steered the boat to the left of the island, finally locating a dock as she headed for that. The sight of a small child playing at the tree line with a red lantern in hand as the small boy reached up on his tip toes to latch it onto the tree branch then suddenly turned to see the boat, the noise alerting him to the visitors. He stood there a moment, as if to figure out who it was.

Kailani stood up, a firm hand still on the lever as she waved. "Aaye!! Quel adune!!" she called out excitedly.

The boy gave a short wave then ran back off into the trees yelling forth to someone else, like a warning or a heads up, the only discernible word Moira could be able to pinpoint was Kailani's name among the language of words she had never heard before.

Kailani docked the boat and practically jumped out, having to force herself to pause to step back and offer a hand to Moira with a huge smile. "Welcome to Treles..." she spoke with an almost guilty smile. "Come on, I'll show you to the main village."

"I'm good. I'm fine." Moira said quickly, looking over to Kailani and smiling a little at her, just happy that whatever it was, was gone now. Though, hearing that the thing had a name, she tilted her head a bit. Shaking her head a bit, she decided to not question it, at least not now. Maybe there would be more information on the island. Moving to sit up, she ran her hand through her short hair and looked over to the white sands of the beach.

Taking in a deep breath, she smiled a bit more. 'I can see why people could enjoy this sort of life, on the sea, it's refreshing, though I don't think I could actually stay on a boat for long periods of time. Ooh, I should tell Arno I've been on a boat, now!' As she thought to herself, she looked over to the beach and spotted the child, looking from the child to Kailani, then back to the child.

After they docked, Moira carefully made her way onto the dock and took the life-vests off and set them inside of the boat, "So...how common is, uh, common here?" she asked, arching a brow as she recalled the strange language that she head the girl speaking in.
PostPosted: Mon Aug 01, 2016 9:36 pm

Kailani nodded and smiled as Moira confirmed she was okay. That was good, she had been worried that whole snag had almost scared her off maybe, but it seemed everything was fine. She looked at Moira as she posed the question of language. "Oh... they're bilingual.. common and elven. So don't worry about them not understanding you. It may have been a while, but they know it." she explained and smiled reassuringly.

She grabbed her Moira's hand and grinned. "Come on!" she exclaimed, eager to set off. She quickly made her way to where the lantern was placed and continued past it. Some distance ahead, there was another small red lantern and another, as though leading a path into the trees, the sunlight breaking through in rays through the tropical trees above.

It didn't take long before the path opened up to a sandy village surrounded by vibrant flowers on every plant life in the village. There were small sturdy wooden houses dotting the area as a large fire pit was in the center of the town that wasn't currently being used. The elves all had long dark hair and some shade of blue or indigo eyes, dressed in hand-woven garbs, dresses, and clothing. They wore handmade jewelry of teeth and feathers and flowers. And it was very apparent they didn't wear shoes beneath the cloth wrapped around their waists. Younger dark elven children ran about playing with each other and it seemed like an average day for everyone until Moira and Kailani had shown up in the village, everything appearing to pause as they stared with smiles at Kailani then at wonder at Moira.

The commotion had died down for the moment until an older woman dressed very formal tribal robes and her long silver hair adorned with flowers and feathers approached them. "Ahh ingolëien... my sweet Kailani..." she older woman spoke comfortingly as she smiled in welcome. "I almost didn't believe Arael when he said you had returned home.." she commented softly as she reached up to tuck a large red poppy behind Kailani's ear into her hair.

Kailani appeared slightly embarrassed but nodded. "I'osi, I'm just visiting.." she corrected before glancing back at Moira. "Oh, and I brought a friend. She helped me... saved my life..." she then motioned for Moira to step forward as I'osi's silver eyes looked up to Moira invitingly. "...the ebrath of Kailani is always welcome here... You would be an honored guest of the merende isil this night it seems."

Kailani half-gasped, her eyes widened slightly in surprise. "Merende isil is tonight?" she asked excitedly.

I'osi nodded with a grin. "It's unlike you to forget the merende, Kailani... But yes, it is tonight if you both would like to join us." she commented then looked to Moira, "What is the name of our special guest, a'sum..." she asked calmly to Moira, her voice kindly displaying the wisdom of her years.

"That's good - I was worried that I wouldn't be able to talk to anyone, I mean I could if they knew some sign language, but it's hard to sign back with one hand." as she spoke, Moira looked down at the sand, wanting to take her shoes off and just let her toes sink into the pristine sand. It looked like it would feel amazing on her toes, though as she felt Kailani grabbing her hand, she ended up following her. Mostly so she wouldn't cause the girl to fall over from the force of trying to pull a near-500 pound woman along with her.

Looking around as she was lead through the path, Moira's eyes were wide in wonder of a world she didn't know existed. So many colors and the like were ones she had really only seen recently in pictures and video, though as they came to the village, she practically stopped dead in her tracks. It was so much different than what she was used to that it was exciting, a place new to her but old to the world. Not even bothered by the fact that people were staring at her - as that had practically become the norm - Moira slipped her hand from Kailani's and waved at a couple of the villagers.

As an older woman walked forward, she stayed back to watch the interaction between Kailani and the woman, smiling when she heard the word 'I'osi' which meant this was the woman that Kai wanted her to meet. Bowing slightly, Moira averted her eyes before looking back at I'osi, "I'm Moira, I'osi." she bowed a little bit yet again, feeling as if it would be bad if she didn't try to at least show some form of respect to the woman who was clearly very important.
