Jake returned Fujiko's smile, watching as she scampered into the living room and flopped down on the couch again. He could tell just by her reaction that she loved animated movies, and he followed her into the living room, heading for the bookshelf by the TV. He looked at Fujiko and beckoned her over. "Why don't you pick out the movie you want to watch?" he suggested.

Sorcha stood up, walking over cautiously. She looked at the different movie cases, thinking deeply. She pulls one out, it has a large walking contraption on the cover, with smoke coming out of it's "mouth" and other pipes attached. She reads the back, before holding it up to Jake. "How about this one?" Her eyes are big, the small golden glow seemingly swimming around her eyes. She looks back at the cover again. "I don't think I've seen this one, I want to watch it! Is this one okay?"

MiniUrsa by any chance, is the movie she picked out The Iron Giant? Jake watched as Fujiko walked over and looked at the different movies he had, then pulled one out and read the back of it before holding it up for him to see. He nodded, smiling, when she asked if they could watch that one, then took it and pulled it out of the case and put it into the VCR. "It's been a long time since I've seen this one," he said. He was about to sit down on the couch when he thought of something, and he looked at Fujiko again. "Have you ever had popcorn before, Fujiko?" he asked.

Not quite, but it definitely does work! "Popcorn? Those fluffy things that pop out of kernels? I don't think so! I know the children at one of my old homes ate that all the time, I don't remember getting to try them though." She sits down again on the couch quietly, tilting her head in curiosity. She watched him carefully, thinking. Was popcorn a common food? It smelled odd, she remembered that much. It reminded her of festivals, she had always assumed it was a special food until meeting that family.

MiniUrsa Just out of curiosity what movie did she pick out? Jake nodded when Fujiko said she'd never eaten popcorn before, saying that although the children at one of her old homes had eaten it all the times, she'd never had a chance to try any. He could see the curiosity in her eyes, and he smiled. "Two bowls of popcorn, coming right up, then," he said. He popped a bag of extra-butter popcorn, waiting until it had cooled a bit, then opened the bag and poured it into two bowls, handing one to Fujiko as he walked into the living room carrying the bowls and the remainder of the bag of popcorn. "Try this, and let me know what you think, alright?" he said, sitting down beside her.

(It was "Howl's Moving Castle" lol.) She sat crossed legged on the couch, with the bowl in her lap. Just the smell made her feel better. She picked up a piece, squishing it in her fingers and listening to the little snaps before popping it into her mouth. In an instant she fell in love with the taste, her eyes completely gold and seemingly glowing. She ate a few more pieces, each putting her further into a rather unusual state of bliss. She slowly leaned into Jake beside her, protecting the bowl from spilling any, and cuddling up to him before adjusting the bowl into a permanent position.

MiniUrsa I've never heard of that one Jake smiled as Fujiko took the bowl and sat cross-legged on the couch, the bowl in her lap. He watched as she picked up a kernel of popcorn, smashing it between her fingers before popping it into her mouth. He could tell by the look on her face and the color of her eyes that she was immediately in love with the taste, and he turned his attention to the TV as the movie started to play. He'd started eating his own popcorn when he felt Fujiko leaning against him, and he smiled when she would up cuddling up to him before adjusting the bowl so that it wouldn't spill.

It's got a good story line! I suggest watching it if you like the anime style of animation at all. Fujiko watched the movie quietly, seeming to pay more attention to each frame and colour rather than the actual story. She cuddled up closer to Jake, leaning her head into him to rest it. She would pay attention to the story line once in a while, just enough to know what was happening. She quite enjoyed the robot, and the thought of a thoroughly sentient "artificial life form" gave her new ideas, for drawings or her own animations. It was so innocent and confused, like she likely used to be. Regardless, she loathed the suited man. It was as if he didn't process all of the variables, he was like a child, looking at a bug and fearfully squishing it.
Maybe she paid attention more than she had previously thought.

MiniUrsa I'll definitely have to look into it, then. I do love watching anime Jake smiled when Fujiko cuddled up closer to him, leaning her head against him as she did so. He could tell from the way her eyes were glued to the TV that she was enjoying the movie quite a bit. Truth be told, he was, too, given the fact that he'd never seen this movie before.

As the movie continued on, Fujiko felt her mind drifting off. Where she was was so comfortable, so much warmer than she was used to. She shifted herself, reaching for the end of a tail and pulling it up to her cheek. She began petting it, feeling it gently before rubbing the end against her cheek. After a moment, she cuddled up even closer to Jake, pulling his tail lightly around her before watching the movie again, her eyes starting to droop.

Jake was enjoying the movie, and he ate his popcorn absentmindedly as he watched the movie. He was caught off guard when he felt Fujiko grab the end of one of his tails and pull it up to her cheek, petting it and feeling it before rubbing the end against her cheek. He didn't pull his tail away, not minding her attention on his tail, and he smiled when she pulled his tail lightly around her before turning her attention back to the movie. He glanced at her and smiled when he noticed her eyes starting to droop, and he figured she was tired. He put his arm around her gently, not wanting to startle her.

Her eyes widened for a moment, noticing his movement. She watched his arm, before relaxing again once it was in it's new position. She hoped living here would be always be like this, never needing to be on guard. Though she supposed that a little guard could never hurt, getting too comfortable with any area could prove dangerous at a later date. Even if Jake would turn out not to be the threat. He seemed too calm to be one, anyway.
As the movie droned on, Fujiko paid more and more attention to the robot. It really wasn't very different from herself. She felt so bad for it, hoping it would get a chance to have a new life too, like she did. A life where it wasn't hunted or causing it's "owners" or loved ones trouble. She hoped it would happen, but assumed that like all her other family and friends, it wouldn't happen.
And she cried when it didn't, her heart broken.

Jake sensed that Fujiko was wary of his actions, but she relaxed once he'd stopped moving his arm. He knew it would take time before she became accustomed to living in the cabin. He continued to watch the movie, and toward the end of it, he noticed that Fujiko was crying. "Fujiko, are you alright?" he asked, wondering what had made her cry.

"His life ends... just like a slave's normally would." She looks up into his eyes. "Most die for their owners, or by their owner's hands. But.. but you... you're deciding to break that chain for me. Why pick me?" She looked back to the movie, her hand sliding across his stomach to hug him, tears streaming from her eyes. She watched it through to the end, her eyes widening as she realized what the last few scenes meant as they flew by.

MiniUrsa Talk about a good movie! I'll say this is definitely one of my favorites! Jake listened as Fujiko spoke, knowing that she was right. Most slaves would die for their masters, if the masters had earned the slave's respect, and some masters killed their slaves, mostly in fits of rage. "I chose you because no one deserves to be left in chains and cages for who knows how long, wondering if the next person to purchase them will be kind or cruel," he said. "And I was getting lonely living alone, so I wanted to bring someone here that could keep me company, although I have no intention of being a master. I chose you because I wanted to free you from a life of bondage."
