I wouldnt call them emo, emo isnt just emotional music it comes with the people who listen to it aswell.
I dont know if i would call them goth either, because robert smith hates being classed as goth, maybe yeah his hair is black and wild and he wears black make up but i wouldnt call his music goth, like he thinks too.

WTF? the cure is not emo it is dramatic...
along with robert sniths hair and a bunch of other riddles solve em' all and it leads to one answer it's all a big drama rock show.. whee i

The Cure isn't emo, if you chose to label them gothic is a better term.
People are so idiotic, they listen to loud music and wear shirts that say 'I hate Hillary Duff' and say 'Look at me I'm emo' or "Look at me I'm goth because I like black!'

Emo is a music genre.
You can't say that a song that really doesn't fit into the emo genre to begin with is emo.
You might as well be saying 'Well, some of Britney Spears' music is emo....'.

there are several answers to that.
there is the newer, irritating, obnoxious style we call "emo" (which really isn't emo at all) and the original emo that came from the sadder side of punk.
the cure may be considered the first real emo band, but they are not at all like the "emo" today.

The cure are nothing like the rites of spring, which were among the "original emo" kids kinda music, and the cure are nothing like the emo music out now.
If it does not sound like a duck, its chances if being a duck are very slim. neutral

McPhee My brother hears The Cure blaring from my stereo, or my earphones, sometimes. It's not really 'his kinda music' he says. Doesn't make much sense to me, because the Cure has so many different songs and styles, they should please everyone. But my brother is stupid.
'God, you always listen to that Emo.' He says.
'The Cure are NOT emo.' I say. 'They have emo songs, yeah... But they aren't emo.'
But I've been thinking about it. They have emo songs. That's for sure. 'Pictures of You' is pretty emo. 'All of this' is emo. But then they have 'Close to Me' and 'Mint Car' and 'Lovecats'. I mean, hell, that's not emo. Not even a bit.
But what do you think? Do the Cure, in your mind, qualify as Emo? b] The Cure are not Emo firstly, dont meet the criteria, they are precursors and did not play any form of hardcore music, technically speaking and EMO means Emotional Hardcore.
Secondly: Besides they only played rock ballads mostly orientated around emotional experience, so technically if that were the case that EMO is Cure, then so could be said of all music Emotionally inspired.
EMO's are only good for crying in corners, just tell them that its Autumn (fall) and they will go to the corner and cry/write crap poetry on crying.

EMOs STEAL their looks from 80's bands like the whole eyeliner thing that was indeed THE CURE's NOT THE EMOS! besides The Cure have a more new wave sound to them and.......ummmm emo all sounds the same like they get the same guy to sing on all the emo bands albums scream
