old hunting groundsJeremiah just rolled his eyes and offered the phone out to Algie. There, on the screen, was a pokemon - a rather powerful Growlithe - and sitting primly between it's legs was Hellbine. As if he knew he had found the damn thing.

old hunting groundsAlg snorted and as the picture was up it dinged again. Alg flicked to the next picture before Jeremiah could pull it back. This time Hellbine was sitting in a patch of sun with a pidgey on his head. "Looks like they're having fun without us.." The waitress appeared again to clear plates, asking if they wanted dessert but Alg knew better than anyone never to eat any dessert from this particular pub. She'd be back with the bill.

faded chillAlg crooked an elbow under his head and rested a hand on the other man's hip, finding that when he brushed his thumb across the other man's tattoo it was pleasingly normal. He looked like he had something to say, but wasn't saying it. Of course being Alg if not pushed, he'd derail into something else, but again he was very transparent.

old hunting grounds"I sincerely hope that he does not figure out Hellbine can grow things," Jeremiah grumbled under his breath. A hand was held up to dismiss desert, eyes going over to Algie while he slipped his phone away. "I may actually check the bar on the way out," he mused, shaking his head. His foot tapped against Algie's a moment. "Assuming that he's not added onto our bill." Just because they were there and still supposed to be under that lifetime ban. iloveyouDI3 *sings the song of woke back up sick* *tags* |:

faded chillIt was neither moving, nor scaly, nor warm. Though he had yet to get the tattoo repaired; it was something to do once he was back in Ashdown. Jeremiah scooted closer, nose nudging along Algie's cheek as he brushed a kiss against skin. "What is on your mind, precious?" Alg was transparent.

old hunting groundsAlg paid when the bill came, not pausing a moment before the girl was handed cash and told 'no change'. He could claim these meals as expenses so long as they fell within the scope of his 'business trip'. "He's going to have Hellbine a week. Fairly sure he'll figure it out if Hellbine already hasn't shown off." The waitress returned, "Change sir-" He'd said no change but something else old was slid across the table to them, an old photo of them under a glaring flash looking beat up and bloody and 'BAN' written in red marker across the bottom of the polaroid. Alg chuckled, glanced to the owner and gave him a nod. Maybe that's what the check was for.

faded chill"Just thinking," His eyes closed to enjoy Jeremiah close and warm without extra effort put into it, "Thinking we hadn't done anything like this together yet. Together." When the other was closer his arm circled around the man's waist to hold him close. "I think the last time we had a hotel room we used your dad's name and wrecked it." He chuckled. Sometimes it was hard to reconcile the men they were now with the younger men they'd been. Thinking too much about how they'd gotten to this point- well it hurt. So he didn't (or tried). There were a lot of things they'd missed, could have and should have done, but he had more recently had to fight those memories - the ones he'd retained- and try to make new ones. Living in the past wasn't healthy for anyone but often people didn't do what was good for them anyhow. "Let's get married." Alg said after a pause, where he had clearly thought and stopped and thought again before he said, "It's impulsive and foolish and sappy-" Only he would call marriage foolish, "But we can, I've looked it all up, and our parents are here and christ knows when we'll be back. If we'll be back." That thought was a bit sobering really.

old hunting groundsJeremiah laughed, unable to stop himself when he saw the polaroid. He was pushing himself up to stand, a hand held out for Algie to take. "Can't say that's not a good picture of us." It was, really, because of the looks on their faces. Algie and Jeremiah caught in a time when they gave no ******** about anything other than themselves and what they could do with their own hands.

faded chill"I'm enjoying it," Jeremiah replied, leaning close to Algie and their foreheads touching. This was just something else they could have and do together. Like all the dates they had gone on, having dinner at some place back in Ashdown, going on walks- It was replacing old aches, old hurt, with something new and good. The taller man snorted at the mention of the hotel room. "Yes, well ..." What could he say? They had been terrible as young adults, Jeremiah more so than Algie. Algie had always just come with him, supported him, when Jeremiah was at his worst. Whatever else he could say was lost when Algie asked what he did. Jeremiah leaned back, nose brushing the other's, and a little wide-eyed. He swallowed thickly, nameless emotions welling up and threatening to spill over before he let out a ragged breath. "You are probably the only one who would called marriage foolish, precious," he said quietly, trying to not think about the sobering reality that they may never be back here again. "Considering I basically proposed the moment I gave you my family ring ..." Jeremiah reached for Algie's hand and the signet ring on it. "Let's do it," he said, pulling the hand up to kiss the back of it, "let's get married."

old hunting grounds"It was definitely worth memorializing." Alg took the other man's hand and chuckled, voice dropping, "And he may have ended up overly compensated for the window." The professor hauled himself to his feet with his spouse's support and tangled hands with him. "I think our ban may be lifted too..." For now, "It's almost a bit sad."

faded chillA tense knot settled in his chest as Algie waited for an answer, whether it was seconds or minutes it ached there and a thousand doubts shot through his mind, no matter what logic said or the reality that he wouldn't have asked at all if he wasn't sure of the answer. And then Jeremiah agreed and kissed his hand and Alg's chest felt to burst, "Yeah?" Like he didn't know- like he'd ever doubted... The green eyed man burst into one of his rare full smiles and pressed to Jeremiah to kiss him gratefully. He may have swiped his eyes momentarily before pressing his forehead back to the other. Couldn't help the smile though, not while it was just them, "Probably time to drop by your mums."

old hunting grounds" Algernon." The full name because, really, did he have to overcompensate the man? His hand squeezed Algie's regardless, pulling him towards the bar to have a look for those scorch marks. Even if they were no longer banned, it still got them both a bit of a warning look. "It's almost like he thinks we don't remember that he was in the thick of the fight too," Jeremiah mock murmured as he paused at the corner of the bar to look for the telltale marks.

faded chill"Yeah." The obvious response back. As little as Jeremiah smiled, it was still more than Algie had a tendency to do and seeing a rare full smile- His stomach flipped and he returned the kiss with a smile of his own. It turned to a soft huff when Algie was swiping at his eyes (because somethings would never change). A knot of tension he had not known he was holding released and he nuzzled his face forward. "... because we have to tell her before we tell your father." He let out a breath. "Assuming the room isn't bugged and she doesn't just know." Then he tilted his head, giving his lover a curious blue-eyed stared. "Ash and Nando- I assume they'll be involved?" Since they were planning on seeing them as well.

faded chillNo, some things didn't change.. the rare misty eyed Algie that only Jeremiah ever saw was one of them. Even his parents hadn't seem him cry since he was a child. Even at his mother's funeral it was held until doors closed. But with Jeremiah he turned into a bloody sap. "Meredith would murder us if Dad was told first.." And his father, while giving a s**t, knew better than to stand in Meredith Mercer's way of anything. He also, like Algie, spent a lot of his life surrounded by the same strong, demanding women. "And Ash and Nando probably already know or suspect, if Ash still does that ******** thing where he hacks my computer when he's bored." And comments on his search history. Getting texts like 'why are you googling magical cats' at 4am had become commonplace. Especially with the time difference. As much as everyone in Ashdown would be upset, Alg feared more the wrath of parents and these particular friends. "And when we get back to Ashdown," Alg rested a hand on Jeremiah's cheek, "We can do something there as well if you want. For everyone." They'd just have to suffer them all being disappointed they were left out.

old hunting groundsHe countered the full name with a shorter one and a near smug smile, " Miah." Still didn't stop him from joining the other at the bar. The bartender smacked a gnarled hand on the dark spot that had clearly been refinished in the years since. Refinished and worn and polished- but it didnt go away. "T'aint gone, fancy boys," Which may have been what he'd called them then too, the old man cocking a smile that was near scary, "Still fancy though, eh?" "Too fancy for this s**t hole probably," Alg barked back with a casual smirk and it made the old man cackle, as well as several others dotted around the bar. "I'm still watchin ye-" The owner squinted one eye at Jeremiah, then Algie, "-since ya got more weight ta throw around now." Another cackle. Alg flipped a good hearted two finger salute. He was ready to go when you were, Jer.
